If you think about it though, all the praise and positive publicity the bezel-free Nubia Z9 is getting will be worth nothing if the price tag scares you away. We're not saying it's not fair for what the phone offers but's it's serious cash for a phone from a second-tier maker.

The ZTE Nubia Z9 Mini is a strong contender for the title of Best Mid-Price Smartphone on the market. With its large battery, excellent camera, up-to-date version of Android, high-quality HD screen and top-end looks and build quality, you can’t seriously ask for more for the money.

If you have a budget above 15k and need the best camera a smartphone can offer, then you need to look no further than the ZTE Nubia Z9 Mini. On the other hand, if you need your phone to perform, then the Asus Zenfone 2 is a much better option. If your budget is below 15k, then the Xiaomi Mi 4i offers the same performance as the Nubia Z9 Mini and a slightly less impressive camera, at Rs. 12,999.

The Nubia Z9 Mini's camera performance left us pleasantly surprised. We would recommend this phone to anyone looking for a great camera in a smartphone that costs less than Rs. 20,000. Do bear in mind that the ZTE still needs to work on a few kinks in the software and that call quality is not up to the mark either. If you are willing to look past those issues, this phone should serve you well. Hopefully an over-the-air update will fix these issues soon.

The Nubia Z17 Mini is a good handset, good performance, above average camera and battery life is pretty decent. Dual camera portrait mode was not that happening. Now this handset is priced at Rs. 19,999 would have been great if it was priced at under Rs. 15K.

The Nubia Z11 Mini is the best camera phone you can buy in the sub-20K smartphone category. Period. Further, the good design, commendable display and the decent battery life add to the overall experience. However, its performance is a bummer. If you’re willing to compromise performance for a good camera, then go for the Nubia Z11 Mini. If you want a better overall performer, though, the Redmi Note 3 and LeEco Le 2 are better options.

What I liked about the Z11 Mini was its design and that camera. What I did not like was the battery life and the outdated Android 5.1.1 Lollipop software. And it is a tough market out there with a lot of choices in the budget smartphone range. The ZTE Nubia Z11 Mini priced at Rs 12,999, does not stand a chance against the mighty Moto G4 Plus even though its priced higher at Rs 14,999. The same can be said about the current king of the ring, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, which is priced Rs 11,999, but packs in better hardware and a bigger battery.

Specification wise, the ZTE Nubia Z11 Mini at Rs 12,999 is a decent device, though not the best option. It fulfills what it promises such as a good looking phone with good chipset and camera. But it's the few small chinks in its armour that lets it down. Its biggest drawback is its older Android OS which makes it case very weak. Nubia thus should release the Android Marshmallow atleast if not Android Nougat but it has to act fast if it wants to make the Z11 Mini a mighty smartphone in the sub-Rs 15,000 segment.

Overall, we feel that the Nubia Z11 mini is definitely a good looking, well-built device from ZTE’s subrand Nubia. The two cameras are decent, but lacks the consistency sometimes. The combination of Snapdragon 617 and 3GB of RAM is average. The phone doesn’t heat much in heavy duty tasks too and we were pleasantly surprised to see that. The phone supports USB OTG for good, but then it lacks the essential fast charging.

Nubia Z11 Mini S and Xiaomi MI5S can have nice similarity in camera, design, and battery, but in terms of hardware, Xiaomi MI5S can win over Nubia Z11 Mini not only in terms of antutu. But considering the price, Nubia Z11 Mini S RAM 4GB ROM 64GB version sells at 1499 yuan, $250, RAM 4GB ROM 128GB black golden advanced version at 1899 yuan, $316, but Xiaomi MI5S RAM 3GB ROM 64GB at 1999 yuan, $330, and RAM 4GB ROM 128GB version at 2299 yuan, $383. Therefore, if you don’t pursue too high-end performance, Nubia Z11 Mini S is enough to use, but you are a game lover, we highly recommend choosing Xiaomi MI5S.

The Nubia Z11 Mini is a really good attempt to gain some foothold in the burgeoning Indian smartphone market. At a price tag of Rs 14,500, we'd say that it's definitely a value for money device if you're looking for a camera-centric smartphone in that kind of budget. Its downers include a dated operating system and uncertainty about OS updates.

At this price, the Nubia Z11 Mini offers a great camera and decent overall performance. Yes, the phone has its minor issues but nothing you can’t really live with. The only asterisk on top is whether the company has the conviction to see this phone through to success.

To sum up, the Nubia Z11 can be seen as a potential flagship-killer and does give a stiff competition to the OnePlus 3, but its software is the one reason of making it a ‘potential’ and not actual flagship-killer.

As with stills, many videos offer accurate target exposures in both bright- and low-light conditions, and autofocus is generally accurate under stable lighting. The apparent lack of video stabilization is an issue, however, making stable movies with even moderate movement a challenge. While shooting video under changing lighting conditions, we also observed slow and inconsistent convergence for exposure and white balance, as well as some autofocus failures.

The Nubia Z11 is a worthy flagship device. Priced at Rs 29,999, the smartphone offers powerful specifications along with a great-looking bezel-less display, which is not present in any of the phones available in the market. Along with this, the company is also working on rolling out Android N update. With these specs and price, the Z11 can give a tough competition to the OnePlus 3T , which also has a starting price of Rs 29,999.

The Nubia Z11 fails where Nubia phones have traditionally excelled: the camera. However, it's still a really fast smartphone with above average battery life, and what is arguable the best design of 2016. It's a viable alternative to the OnePlus 3T and definitely worth considering.

But then, the Z11 has an ace up its sleeve. It's the one and only smartphone in and around its price category to feature a bezel-less display and mind you; it's more than just a gimmick. It's very functional too and oh so very good looking. It has all the ingredients that make a flagship, but comes at half the cost. It won't necessarily kill the OnePlus 3. But, it could be a viable alternative.

At the moment, I think the Nubia Z11 is a good challenger to the OnePlus 3 given its overall performance, camera and specs. However, the struggle for Nubia will be in establishing itself as a brand that India knows and trusts. I suggest this phone for those who love to be a bit ahead of the curve when it comes to technology and likes to take funky photos.

At the moment, if you’re anywhere except Germany, Spain, Italy, or India (where the Nubia is officially sold), the answer is no. Even in the U.K., where our test phone has operated without a problem on a 4G LTE network, it’s not worth importing one. Confusion and concern over connectivity is a prime reason, along with the high price of the device. An Axon 7 or OnePlus 3 is cheaper, and officially sold in both the U.S. and U.K., and we consider them both just as good as the Nubia Z11.

However, it does have some quirky software issues. And let's not forget the OnePlus 3 which, at £45 cheaper, will be the more obvious and available choice for many. For a brand most of Europe isn't familiar with yet the Nubia Z11 does make a strong first impression though. That edge-to-edge screen is its obvious big sell and the hardware is decent. The main downside is less to do with the phone itself and more about just how competitive this mid-price market has become.

Just like its predecessor, the Nubia Z11 left us with some mixed feelings. The brand has grown a lot and it shows, but for every few things the handset gets right, there still seem to be the one or two oddities that creep in and smear an otherwise great picture.

The Z11 is a solid flagship offering from Nubia with some interesting camera features, great build quality, and a stunning bezel-less display. The Nubia Z11 is their current flagship smartphone, and it really does feel like one. Although it’s a bit weird to call this a flagship without a QHD display on board. There’s a lot to like about the Nubia Z11, including its camera and interface. It may not be the perfect phone for everyone, but at its price point, it will definitely stand out. Even though OnePlus does deliver more RAM for just a few bucks more.

The Z11 mini S has all the makings of a good smartphone, and after spending little more than a week with it, most of these translate well in the real world. Nubia has done a great job in terms of build quality and aesthetics, and this phone is well equipped with plenty of storage and a good processor. Both cameras do a good job in most lighting conditions, and battery life is solid too. There are areas where this phone could have been better, such as faster charging, the inclusion of NFC, and a more polished Android skin.

The ZTE Nubia Z11 Mini S is a great smartphone, that’s stuck with unfinished software; something that the company can work on and fix. It features the perfect hardware combination and I have no complaints regarding its Rs 16,999 price tag because it offers a lot more than the competition. There’s a capable 23MP camera, great battery life and a premium looking design, one that even gives the Asus Zenfone 3 (5.2-inch model) a run for its money.

The Nubia N1 is a good handset, camera is average (can be improved), battery life is impressive. When you look at this handset and then there is the Redmi Note 4, RN4 is no doubt a better option.

Nubia N1 is the perfect for the budget smartphone buyer, who need a smartphone that won’t die everyday. The long battery is a sure shot winner for the N1. The 480 ppi pixel density display also means that customers who love to watch movies on-the-go get a great experience, without charging the device every few hours. At Rs 12,000, Nubia N1 is a solid buy for those who need that extra battery.

To conclude, Nubia N1 does scores good marks in terms of battery and overall performance. The smartphone comes with some interesting features in the software department, but still it needs to do a lot in order the software more efficiently.

With 32GB/64GB storage and 5,000mAh battery you can pack your phone with movies and TV shows to kill your time while traveling. The display too is bright enough and we are sure that you’ll enjoy watching them. Nubia N1 has been priced at Rs 11,999 however; you can also consider Moto G4 or the Redmi Note 3.

The Nubia N1 is a decent smartphone. It’s better than most other Helio P10 powered smartphones we’ve reviewed so far. However, it doesn’t live up to its promise of three day battery life and has a sub-par camera, making it a less than ideal choice. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and Nubia’s own Z11 Mini are better phones to buy.

It has an innovative (if confusing) UI, a good front shooter and a big battery, but those apart, the Nubia N1 is not very different from other notable smartphone falling in the sub-Rs 15,000 segment. And that is not good for it, because the Nubia N1 will be facing some stiff competition from smartphones like Lenovo K6 Power which offers a better multimedia experience at a lower price and Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 3 and Redmi 3S Prime which fall in the same category, and come with good battery life and a better UI. If all you need really is battery which can easily last for 2-2.5 days and a great front selfie shooter, the Nubia N1 comes as a great option for Rs. 11,999. The problem, however, is that most users want just a bit more.

Nubia devices are generally quite good looking, but unfortunately, that's not the case with the N1. Apart from the camera there's nothing extra ordinary about this device. On the contrary, there are smartphones like Coolpad Note 5 and Moto G4 which have better specifications and look good too, despite falling under the same price bracket as the Nubia N1. Consequently, we don't think that the Nubia N1 is a value-for-money smartphone.

The Nubia M2 looks pretty good and performs quite well. The display is nice to watch content on and battery life is impressive. Unfortunately, it runs an outdated version of Android and there is no news of updates at this point. Some users might find the UI confusing as well. Camera performance is good during the day but suffers in low light. Other devices such as the Moto G5s and the Xiaomi Mi A1 (Review) offer roughly the same hardware for less money, making the Nubia M2 feel overpriced.

The Nubia M2 Lite is certainly an interesting device. It has a respectable screen, an excellent set of cameras, and a good number of features and gestures. On the downside, though, it falls short on battery life and still runs on an outdated version of Android. With a price tag of Php6,499 (see listing here), the Nubia M2 Lite is certainly a contender. So can it compete in the budget segment? If they can at least address some of its shortcomings like updating its OS, the answer to that is yes.

The Nubia M2 Lite scores when it comes to design and build quality however, the back of the phone is slippery and you must use a back cover to get a better grip. Lack of Full HD display and Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) is also a let down especially at Rs. 13,999 price point. The front camera is good for selfies but still it is not exceptional. There are several other options that you can choose in the sub Rs. 15,000 category.

The Nubia M2 Lite successfully makes itself stand out on camera and the display fronts. These two factors can tilt the balance in its favour in the budget smartphone market. The handset's battery backup is decent and light-average users should be able to pull it off for around 12 hours straight before plugging it back.

The Nubia N2 is the literal embodiment of the phrase 'form over function'. The smartphone looks stunning and is built exquisitely well. However underneath that beautiful shell are poor internals, un-optimised and buggy software, a substandard screen and average cameras. The saving grace is the huge battery but competing smartphones give comparable battery life thanks to more advanced 14nm Snapdragon chipsets.

We are saying it aloud – the Nubia Z17 Mini is one of the best devices present in sub Rs. 20,000 category. The phone performs well in all segments – exceptionally so in the camera department – and did not really disappoint us at any stage. Yes, the battery could have been better and the UI needs a bit of simplifying but other than that, the Z17 Mini is a very solid device. The phone goes up against the likes of the Honor 6X, Moto G5 Plus, Mi A1 and its own cousin, the Nubia Z11 Mini which has a 23.0- megapixel primary camera. The competition in the sub-Rs. 20,000 is stiff and we do not know how well the Z17 Mini will do in the market but in our tests, the phone passed with more than just flying colours. It might not have the hype and hoopla that accompanies some of its competitors, but if you are looking for a great camera phone for under Rs 20,000, then the Nubia Z17 Mini is definitely one of the better options around.

The Nubia Z17 Mini offers premium design packaged with good hardware setup. But the USP of the handset - the dual rear camera setup - is far from perfect and could not convince us enough to recommend the phone. If you are looking to buy a dual rear camera smartphone at a similar price point, the Honor 8 or the Gionee A1 could be better alternatives.

To sum up, the dual-camera setup on the Nubia Z17 Mini does a decent job, while the monochrome mode manages to impress us sometimes. The phone looks premium and is a good performer in daily routine. However, the software is in dire need of optimisation and we hope that the company will surely look into this matter. At the end, when compared to the likes of Moto G5 Plus, Honor 8 Lite, Lenovo P2 and more, the smartphone can be considered as an underdog.

The Nubia Z17 mini is a bit of an expensive proposition at its current price of Rs. 19,999. Nubia has an exchange offer on Amazon that promises up to Rs. 13,000 off, but a discount that steep would require you to trade in an iPhone 7 or similar phone, so realistically you'd get a far more modest benefit.

Nubia Z17 Mini is not perfect, but it has a few positives to its name. A good design, capable dual rear cameras and a beautiful display all this makes the Nubia Z17 Mini a highly recommended smartphone in the mid-end segment. However, I also see a great value in the Honor 8 which now sells at an equal price. That phone doesn’t disappoint in the camera department, though I wish it had a slightly better display.

To sum up, the smartphone has its share of hits and misses. The device does manage to give a sleek and premium look, which is a good thing. The phone carries a specs sheet, which is pretty common at this price point, though a dated Android version can be an eyesore for some. As for the competition is concerned, the phone will compete with the likes of Moto G5 Plus, Xiaomi Mi Max, Lenovo P2 and others, which offers come competitive specs at a similar price point.

There are a few different ways to look at the Nubia Z17, but it definitely is a worthy addition to the 2017 flagship club. With a price tag south of the $500 mark, just the right bit cheaper than the OnePlus 5, the Nubia Z17 is probably the most affordable package with a Snapdragon 835 under the hood. This could've been calculated or coincidental, but ZTE didn't stop there and the phone deserves some credit for trying to over-deliver in terms of audio and imaging too.

The Nubia M2 Play has its moments, but it’s not a value for money purchase overall. It lacks in the camera department and performance is passable at best. There are better phones available in the sub-10k segment.

Therefore, it becomes difficult to recommend the Nubia Red Magic over the others. Maybe the Red Magic Mars with a Snapdragon 845 and capacitive touch triggers should have been the phone Nubia should have brought to India at this stage. Nonetheless, It’s a good start for Nubia and I expect them to compete with the established ones more aggressively.

We think the Nubia Red Magic will appeal to people who want to show off. You can certainly play games very well, but that doesn't make this phone better than other options at its price level. That's primarily because the processor is now almost two generations behind the curve, and we think a lot of people appreciate dual cameras on a premium device. As for the LED strip and styling, we don't see much value in them. Sure, they look good, but they serve no purpose and in some ways are actually detrimental to the overall usage experience.

As much as the design would have you believe you’re holding a gaming smartphone, the performance would leave a lot to be desired. While the phone is built to look like a through and through gaming phone what with RBG lights and air vents, the phone shows its true self when you are actually playing a game. Unless you are buying this phone to play low-end games, this won’t really cut it. In fact, phones like the Poco F1 and the Asus Zenfone 5z and even the Nokia 7 Plus handles gaming much better. If you are planning to spend Rs 29,999 on a phone to play games, there are much better options to go for, just that they won’t be as good looking.

Not only is this a great gaming phone — but it’s also generally a very good value option. If you love mobile gaming but don’t want to fork out for the current best gaming phone, the ROG Phone, this is an excellent choice and the best budget gaming phone in town. For those not into gaming, the question will probably be whether or not you can live with the slightly garish gamer design. Either way, this is definitely one to watch.

The Nubia Red Magic 3 is affordable, despite the fact it packs incredibly powerful internals and mind-bogglingly good battery life, but it’s also very rough around the edges. The phone’s AMOLED screen isn’t particularly sharp or color accurate, there are translation issues aplenty within the UI, and third-party app support isn’t as reliable as it would be with more mainstream smartphones. Still, if you want to game, you want a big screen, great speakers, and stacks of power, your money won’t stretch further elsewhere.

Overall, I think the best features of the Red Magic 3 remains its 90Hz screen as well as its very large battery capacity. Its performance is also among the best S855 out there. While it’s lacking some other high-end flagship features, particularly in terms of camera versatility, I think it’s still a reasonable package given that the phone retails for only $/€479.

The Nubia Red Magic 3 packs a lot of features for a gaming phone, and it’s also the most affordable Snapdragon 855-powered gaming unit in the market right now. Everything from a high refresh-rate display to the ability to tweak CPU and GPU speeds to a literal fan inside the body and RGB lights, this is essentially what we expect from gaming smartphones these days. But it would’ve been all the more better if the performance also matched the feature list. Unfortunately, the phone doesn’t come across as well-optimised to utilise the sustained high-performance while gaming, as indicated by the frame rates most games delivered. There’s work to do and Nubia could just as well finish the job via a software update.

The ZTE nubia Red Magic 3 left us with very mixed feelings. It is definitely one of, if not the coolest-looking gaming smartphone currently out there. Few have fully embraced the gamer aesthetic quite as boldly. Aggressive, striking lines and colors, plenty go RGB to go around. Going through the specs sheet and especially feature list does solidify the notion of a unique product. The active cooling fan alone is enough to make the Red Magic 3 stand out among the crowd. But even beyond that top-notch build quality, a 90Hz OLED panel, capacitive triggers on the side, a huge battery pack, just to name a few points do make for an excellent hardware package.

When you boil it down, having a phone this powerful with a decent camera and long battery life at this price is a total bargain. It's fast, goes all day, can handle any of your games, and controls really well thanks to shoulder buttons and a dedicated gaming mode.

All in all, I truly love the Red Magic 3, despite all of its missteps. Most of them are, in my opinion, pretty minor, and the performance and general experience you get for $480 are an incredible value. A lot of these issues could be fixed with software updates, too, so there's always a chance that things will get better. As I mentioned above, if there's anything that stops me from really loving this phone, it's the lack of NFC. If you don't care about that or any of the other flaws I consider to be minor, the Red Magic 3 is an absolute bargain for its asking price. The performance you'll get out of it is likely unmatched, and it offers a fantastic gaming experience if you're looking for it. You can buy it from nubia's online store.

While a great many of us probably don’t feel we need a gaming phone, it’s becoming hard to ignore the fact that if you’re shopping on a budget but still want cutting-edge specs, this is the kind of device you should probably look into. The Red Magic 3 has a fantastic 90Hz AMOLED screen, brilliant sound, optional physical controls and a massive battery, yet it’s around half the price of the Samsung Galaxy S10. Sure, it lacks features like wireless charging, NFC and water resistance, but these are easy to live without when you consider how much you’re actually getting for less than £500. Add in the optional gaming accessories and the fact that it effectively doubles as a proper games console (even more so when you consider all of those lovely emulators you can download), and the Red Magic 3 becomes even harder to ignore. It may be big and the software has its quirks, but this is one gaming phone you should check out, even if you don’t intend to do any actual gaming on it.

We have seen a lot of smartphones with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC launching in India at reasonable prices. This is a good thing for smartphone buyers. Nubia has a direct competitor in the form of the Black Shark 2 ₹ 39,999, but has an advantage in terms of pricing. The base variant of the Red Magic 3 with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is priced at Rs. 35,999 while the higher variant with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage is priced at Rs. 46,999.

The display on the Red Magic 3 gaming phone is 6.65-inches 1080 x 2340 pixels AMOLED panel with 2.5D corning gorilla glass. It has a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 430 nits of brightness and a 388 PPI pixel density. Paired with the 90 Hz refresh rate, it takes gaming to a whole new level. What makes the smartphone even more desirable is the LED strip which runs vertically on the back of the phone, just from below the camera. You also get a Red Magic logo underneath it. The LED light strip can be configured as a notification as well as a warning light for low battery etc.

The Red Magic 3 is a gaming phone with highly decent specs for a mere $479 USD. It’s meant to look like a gaming phone and act like a gaming phone, so it has an LED strip down its back and red accents on black all over, as well as a 90hz-capable display. But this phone does not trap its user in a game-obsessed universe – the lights can be deactivated, and you can prolong your battery life to a great extent by skipping use of the phone’s potential high refresh rate until you need it.

The Red Magic 3 feels like it has been designed by gamers and that’s a good thing if you love games. But if you are looking for a practical all-rounder, you may struggle to find a reason to buy this. As a daily driver, you have to compromise with practicality. This then only makes sense as a secondary device that goes with you in your backpack and comes out when you sit down for an hour-long session of PUBG with friends. Overall, if you want a very powerful smartphone for gaming without hurting your wallet massively, go ahead and buy the Red Magic 3.

It’s not perfect. The lack of NFC will hurt for many, the single lens lets down an otherwise impressive camera, there is the occasional lack of polish in the UI, and performance — while amazing — is not significantly better than other devices with similar specs. The looks will certainly be unappealing for certain users and the size alone is going to be a deal breaker in some cases.

What is commendable is that the Red Magic 3 also has a high degree of completion in areas other than games. The typical one is that with the rear single shot of an IMX586, you can take photos that are the same as the mainstream flagship during the day. It is true that the night performance is slightly unsatisfactory and there will be a lack of super wide-angle and super-macro photos. Limited. However, photographs have not been the focus of e-sports mobile phones. E-sports mobile phones are born as partial students. It is very difficult for their cameras to scan from the scanner to the first-line flagship level in some environments.

The Nubia Z20’s second screen may not add a whole lot to the device, but the phone doesn’t really need it – it’s a fine mid-range phone with a great main screen, useful cameras, and snappy processing speed. Most users might find they’re paying for a screen they don’t use, though, so we can’t recommend it for everyone.

A dual-screen phone won’t be for everyone, but the Z20 is the closest you’re likely to get to a second display with mass-market appeal. A variety of settings and options mean you can use the second display as little or often as you like, while still enjoying all the benefits of the main camera for selfies, but it still feels a little awkward even at the best of times. It’s just a shame that camera isn’t better, with strong hardware let down by software that’s only OK. Then again, factor in the price - and super specs - and the Z20 delivers plenty of bang for its buck.

A better version of this concept might not be so bad but this particular gamble by Nubia doesn’t quite break even. In the pursuit of solving one problem, they create dozens more. Ultimately, the company’s bet here that the benefits of having a screen on both sides of your phone just doesn't pan out.

The nubia Z20 is easily my favorite phone among the ones I've used. The dual-screen implementation is thoughtful, and nubia found multiple ways to make good use of it. The pressure-sensitive edges are a feature I didn't expect to see and it's proven to be pretty useful for me. Meanwhile, the camera is easily the best one I've used, with a pretty great night mode to go along with it.

The ZTE Nubia Z20 is a great phone. Take away the secondary screen, and it's still a great phone. The camera is solid, it's blazing fast, and there are no obvious compromises. On that basis alone, I'd recommend it.

The Z20 feels forced, like Nubia tried too hard to make it special just for the sake of it. The second screen is a nice conversation opener, but that’s about it. Meanwhile, you can get similar specs and a hassle-free camera experience from many competitors, without spending more. For these reasons, we can’t recommend picking up the Nubia Z20, unless you really like the idea of having a second screen on the back of your phone.

The nubia Z20 has one thing that the rest don't and that's the novelty dual-display design. If you came here because you like exotic phones with quirky features, you will like the Z20 a lot. But if you don't have a particular use case for that secondary screen, you should know that the novelty wears off quite quickly and you will probably get bored with it pretty fast.

For the Nubia Z20, in addition to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus platform, in terms of performance, the photo is also closely followed by the trend to join the 48 Megapixel and three-photo configuration, in the final performance It is also remarkable. I think the biggest improvement of this phone is the continuation of the ultimate pursuit of mobile video in the Nubia Z series. In the past few years, the entire mobile phone market has spent more and more energy on taking pictures. As the masterpiece of Nubia, the Z20 is just the beginning.

The Red Magic 3S’s playback performance is dominated by the narrowness of its playback frequency response, which not only results in an overall smothered sound, but also strongly impairs dynamics and spatial performance. On the other hand, its stunning ability to control undesirable sounds, such as noise and distortion, has set a new record for our Playback Artifacts sub-score. However, its recording performance is among the poorest we have tested so far, due to numerous artifacts, very low loudness in every use case, and the impossibility of recording in stereo.

With most things remaining the same with only the SoC and storage getting an upgrade, the Red Magic 3s is definitely faster but the experience remains largely the same. As far as gaming smartphones go, the experience is somewhat inferior to the ROG Phone II. Yes, the price too is slightly lesser, but a little more and you get a lot more features, more accessories and a far robust hardware-software integration. Having said that, the Red Magic 3s runs almost all games we threw at it at peak frame rates. Outside of gaming, the Red Magic 3s struggles a bit to get the daily tasks right and as a result, this may not be the perfect daily driver, despite being a good gaming device.

But in the otherwise relentless dumpster fire that is 2020, there is one bright point: some manufacturers are actually having fun with their hardware again. Earlier in the year Nubia unveiled its RedMagic 5G gaming phone, a device I photographed for the Instagram channel because it sported the most striking paint job I’ve seen in a very long time. And today, that same phone is back in the studio with a new transparent backplate that showcases its halo feature: a 15,000 rpm cooling fan. It's not destined for US shores and doesn't have software complete enough for this market to make a full review possible – but that doesn't mean we can't have a little fun. Join me for an up-close look at my first clear phone in years: the RedMagic 5G Transparent Edition.

Those of you considering the RedMagic 5G as a cheaper alternative to the current crop of Snapdragon 865-equipped 5G flagships might want to think twice. Besides the disappointing camera, questionable software, and uncertain updates, this handset is bulky and definitely not water or dust resistant -- fan grilles and all. Plus, if you’re abroad, you already have a roster of affordable 5G flagships to choose from. Yes, the RedMagic 5G is a speed demon, but are you willing to sacrifice usability for specs and performance? That's the all-important question only you can answer.

The Nubia Red Magic 5G is far from being the perfect everyday smartphone. There are devices with much better cameras, software, and battery life, but there are few smartphones out there that live up to their promises. The Red Magic 5G is a gaming-first smartphone that promises best-in-class performance and that’s exactly what it delivers. If all you want is a powerful smartphone that can deliver an impeccable gaming experience, this is the phone you’ve been waiting for.

Is the RedMagic 5G smartphone worth the amount of cash you’ll pay for it here in the summer of 2020? It really depends on what your values are. If you absolutely, positively MUST have a smartphone with a 144Hz image refresh rate, this is currently your best bet. You could also look into the iQoo Z1 5G, but we’ve got no hand-on experience with that brand whatsoever, so cannot attest to quality.

nubia's RedMagic phones have always left a great impression on me due to their hardware, and this one is no different. It retains most of what made the previous phones unique, with the active cooling system, the RGB light strip, high refresh rate, and stereo speakers. I would also say the transition to a glass and metal sandwich ends up being good for the phone, as it feels more sturdy than the previous models, and I actually prefer the new implementation of the RGB lighting. The camera is also good enough for me, and the new sensors do add some versatility.

All that considered, we'd say the Nubia RedMagic 5G ends up with more in the positives column than the negatives column. It definitely has its problems – which you should be aware of before you buy it – but it brings with it a whole load of mobile power and gaming goodness for an eye-catching price.

Not all gaming phones are created equal... especially on the inside. This Brand new RedMagic 5G gaming phone has a FAN inside. Making it one of the coolest looking phones weve taken apart in awhile. This little motorized hurricane sucks in air from one side to cool the processor (And other random mother board chips) And spits the hot air out the other side of the phone. Today we are going to take apart the Red Magic 5G and see what makes it work from the inside. We'll take a look at the Turbo Cooling fan inside of the Android smartphone, and see if the RedMagic 5g can withstand being taken apart and reassembled. And yes. The fan indeed sucks air in through one side and out the other.

While the Red Magic 5G features a lot of power for the price, it’s hard to recommend for all but the most serious gamers. Simply put, it doesn’t offer extensive band support for any US carrier, and 5G will never be an option for most US users. While there isn't a direct alternative with all of the bells and whistles for gamers, the OnePlus 8 features similar hardware, more extensive 5G support, and a better camera for a similar price. And if you’re willing to spend more, the LG V60 ThinQ 5G offers sub-6GHz support for all carriers (and mmWave support on Verizon), as well as solid gaming features including dedicated buttons on its optional second display.

One of the biggest advantages of the Red Magic 5G over the alternatives is the 144Hz display. So far there's no other phone on the market that can achieve this level of smoothness. Hardcore gamers will probably spot the difference between the Red Magic 5G and the second-best option out there - 120Hz. On the other hand, aside from the OS animations and the standard non-gaming apps, there aren't many places where you can show off your 144Hz screen. There's only one game that supports 144fps and only a few that go beyond 60Hz.

If you spend the vast majority of the time you're on your phone gaming, you're the exact person the Red Magic 5S is built for. While you can also harness that power for editing videos or similar power-user activities on the 5S, it's clear that this isn't what it was built for. The RedMagic 5S is a very interesting proposition. On paper, it’s a really kick butt phone. It’s got crazy specs, a gorgeous display, terrific speakers, and top-notch build quality. On the other side of the spectrum, it’s not IP rated for water or dust which means you’ll have to be super careful with it. That’s really the only downside I see with this phone as everything else on it is superb.

See, RedMagic launched a few new accessories designed to enhance the experience. Including the likes of the Ice Dock for even better cooling, along with the Pro Handle so you can turn the 5S into an Android-powered Switch console. The problem comes in with the general availability of these, as they are not generally available for purchase, or you have to wait upwards of a month for them to arrive. We wish that they would have been more easily accessible, but maybe that will change as we get further away from the launch.

The ZTE Nubia Red Magic 5S’s audio performance scores well for its intended purpose as a gaming device, often outpacing its competitors, such as the Black Shark 3 Pro, which earned an overall score of 55 versus the Red Magic 5S’s 64, and a 68 against the Black Shark Pro 3’s 57 for Playback. Its weaknesses tended to come in non-gaming areas, such as its use as a recording device, or in the fact that its minimum volume is too soft for highly dynamic content such as classical music. In Playback testing, it had an above-average dynamics performance and an excellent artifacts performance. As a recording device it leaves much to be desired, however, with a poor artifacts score and an even worse score in rendering background.

After being the first to add a fan inside a phone, RedMagic is the first OEM to use silver to help cool its smartphones, and adding the external fan makes it even more suitable for intense gaming sessions. That's combined with the faster storage and what were already top-notch specs to make for a very powerful device.

Is Nubia Red Magic 6 a significant improvement over the previous model? In some respects, yes. The interior has been modernized, a better display and more LED lights have been added. High efficiency, decent speakers and an acceptable battery are kept. The cameras appear untouched, but the quality of photos and videos has slightly improved. First of all - cooling. The fan - although modified - howls like a damn and takes its toll not only while playing, but also during filming. However, we can not always turn it off, because a phone forced to work can turn into a heater. There will be a working NFC in Europe, you can also quietly count (although I doubt it a bit...) for a better translation of the interface. Maybe the manufacturer will also do something about the excessive heat emission...? In any case - if you were ordering Red Magic 6 - make sure the phone is officially in Europe!

Some phones have intersting things inside. This new Red Magic 6 Gaming phone from Nubia is one of those interesting phones. There is a spinning turbo fan inside that is used to cool the phone down in extreme gaming situations. Today we are going to see what that turbo fan looks like from the inside.

Although the Nubia’s latest flagship globally performs slightly better than the 5S, it is still hamstrung by a poor recording performance across all sub-scores — except for dynamics. In the playback area, however, the RedMagic 6 Pro fulfills its pledge by delivering clear treble, good high-end extension, and above all, a very good in-game audio performance thanks to the absence of user-induced artifacts, precise localizability, and good wideness.

The RedMagic 6 is a gaming phone at heart and if that’s what you mainly use your phone for then you’ll love all of the enhancements it provides, such as a large display with a 165Hz refresh rate, cooling fan, customizable shoulder triggers, and more. While it excels at gaming, it comes up short in some other key areas like the overall user experience and camera. At least it still provides great battery life though. If you’re a gamer at heart then it’s hard to get more bang for your buck with the RedMagic 6 retailing for $600 with top-of-the-line specs. Just don’t expect it to be the do it all for you phone at that price.

So like all gaming phones, it's tough to call it one way or the other. Ultimately the RedMagic 6 is a mixed bag. As a gamer, I came away impressed with the performance you get for the price, but as an Android enthusiast, the lack of software polish really puts a damper on the user experience. If you're willing to live with more than a few compromises in exchange for quality mobile gaming on a budget, then you’ll be happy with the RedMagic 6.

So should you buy it? Well, even without all of the extra gaming features, the RedMagic 6 is a surprisingly great device overall considering that it’s priced at just $599. This is $200 cheaper than the latest Galaxy S21 and is $80 cheaper than its closest competition in the ROG Phone 5 despite the former featuring lesser specs than RedMagic. If you want a great gaming phone with some RGB and don’t care about the cameras, then the RedMagic 6 is almost perfect.

Last month, Nubia unveiled its newest gaming phone in China — the Red Magic 6. The phone subsequently launched internationally with a larger battery and Google apps pre-installed. Nubia’s latest gaming phone leaves no stone unturned when it comes to raw hardware, packing a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a whopping 165Hz refresh rate and up to 500Hz touch sampling rate, top-of-the-line Snapdragon 888 chipset, 12GB RAM, 128GB UFS 3.1 storage, a 5,050mAh battery with 66W fast charging, and a built-in active cooling fan. XDA’s TK Bay recently got his hands on the Tencent Edition Red Magic 6 and here’s what he thinks about this beast of a device.

The Red Magic 6 builds on the gaming phone traditions of its predecessors and it does it all for less than $600. The Snapdragon 888 is great, plus you get a 165Hz display, active cooling, at least 12GB of RAM, and hardware shoulder buttons. But like its predecessors, the software could be improved and the update situation is hazy at best. If you can get past those large caveats and can live with a very average camera, then the Red Magic 6 could be the gaming phone for you.

The RedMagic 6 is still one of the most affordable gaming phones you can buy with top-of-the-line hardware, and for that reason alone, it's worthy of being considered. But gaming phones are evolving quickly, and if you have the money to spend, options like the Legion Phone Duel 2 or the ROG Phone 5 from ASUS are beating RedMagic in areas where it used to stand out - offering more control options, an internal cooling fan, or more customization.

The RedMagic 6 is a very interesting proposition. What I find interesting and insane is the fact that RedMagic can pack in some crazy specs, such as the Snapdragon 888, 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, 128GB storage, 165Hz display, touch shoulder triggers, 66W charging, 5G network support, WiFi 6E, very loud speakers, Android 11, and a great cooling system at an insanely competitive price of just $599! That’s like half the price of a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra with near the same specs. Not only that, this actually comes with a charger and there’s still an AUX jack on the phone!

If all you care about is gaming, the Nubia Red Magic is great – it’s got top specs, a high screen refresh rate and easy-to-use haptic triggers. The handset is a little rough around the edges though, with a noisy internal fan, some software issues and a UI that might not be to everyone’s tastes. The clincher for some, though, could be its price, which makes it more affordable than its rivals.

This gaming phone is well priced, seriously powerful, and has a faster screen refresh rate than you'll find on any other phone right now. Whether you'll get genuine use from that high-flying 165Hz figure, however, is another matter. The performance combination of Snapdragon 888+LPDRR5+UFS3.1 is not surprising. Of course, there is no problem in dealing with daily use or game use. Somewhat surprisingly, the Nubia Z30 Pro has no reservations about the fast charging scheme this time. It is directly charged with 120W super fast charging. At the same time, the 120W GaN charger is directly included in the box, no need to purchase it separately. The measured speed of full blood in 21 minutes is superb. In other respects, in addition to the absence of wireless charging, which is a little regrettable, the Nubia Z30 Pro also has everything such as a multi-function NFC, Wi-Fi 6E, dual speakers, and so on. Sure, the RedMagic 6R is much more svelte than the 6, which is undeniably a good thing. But the tradeoff is no headphone jack and a smaller battery. These choices allow RedMagic to cut costs to offer something that's easily marketed as an affordable day-to-day device, but the software woes will have to be addressed for this to become a reality. Nobody wants to use a phone day in and day out that suffers from a seriously bugged launcher or missing/stuck notifications. This is totally inexcusable, especially when some of these bugs have been long-standing issues with the RedMagic line.

The RedMagic 6R is a very interesting and unique device. It splits the difference between an affordable flagship and a gaming phone, and boasts a Snapdragon 888 plus a gorgeous 144Hz AMOLED screen for just $499, which is an unbeatable value. Beyond the inspired hybrid design, quality materials, and capacitive trigger buttons, this handset also delivers blazing performance, whether you’re gaming or not. What’s not so great is RedMagic’s lackluster software, which negatively impacts everything from user experience to camera performance. Audio also takes a back seat here, with just a mono speaker and no headphone jack. Ditto haptics, which just feel lackluster. Finally, battery life is only average, which isn’t ideal for gaming. So yes, the RedMagic 6R is high on value, but there’s a lot more to the story, and ultimately, you get what you pay for.

Despite ditching the gamer aesthetic and built-in fan, the Red Magic 6R is arguably Nubia’s most ambitious gaming phone so far. That’s primarily due to its affordable mid-range price point, and the fact it doesn’t compromise on high-end specs. But, the 6R is far from perfect. The cameras and software are still more frustrating than fun to use, while a reduced battery capacity means you'll be reaching for the charger sooner when using the highest refresh rate. Nonetheless, there’s still plenty to like here. If you’re looking for a top-tier gaming phone without the traditional design or price tag, the Red Magic 6R is a great option.

In the end, if you’re considering a pretty but less aesthetic gaming phone, you should consider the ZTE Nubia Red Magic 6R smartphone. It has an impressive layout that may even leave some of the mid-range devices behind. Overall must-buy option for gaming enthusiasts. Although, the battery department is a little disappointing. In the same range, the second-best choice for gamers would be the Redmi K40 gaming edition, which also has almost similar features with less budget, So check this out in the meantime. The REDMAGIC 6R is the kind of device for users who want the performance and features of a gaming smartphone without the bulk. It doesn’t have flashy features but instead focuses on things that matter the most, like display, chipset, memory, battery, advanced wireless connectivity, and cooling. Our only gripe is the lack of stereo speakers and the odd placement of the loudspeaker. But other than that, this is a great gaming phone to have if you’re on a budget.

The Red Magic 6R sits in a very weird space, but it’s otherwise saved by its very affordable price tag. It’s not quite a gaming phone, since it ditches the active cooling fan and thicker design that typically define higher-end gaming phones. It still keeps its gaming software features, which helps it stand out, but it feels more like a slightly more gaming-friendly version of a regular old flagship than a real gaming phone. However, it’s also easy to be had for less than $600, undercutting phones like the Galaxy S21 and even many OnePlus models. You’re getting some really beefy hardware for not a lot of money, and you can’t beat that refresh rate and fantastic screen for the price. You’ve just gotta live with a design that your friends might think is a little gaudy, but hey, at least your phone can play Call of Duty Mobile better than theirs, right?

The Red Magic 6R is in an interesting spot. It starts at €499 for the 8GB of RAM 128GB of storage option, and at that price, it is good value. However, as a gaming phone, it lacks key features that put it behind the competition. A lack of dual speakers and poor design means it’s uncomfortable to use the shoulder triggers with a USB-C adapter in the device and even starts to hurt after a while. You also cover the speakers with the palm of your hand extremely easily while using the phone, and it can get extraordinarily hot after a long time of sustained performance. The software itself also leaves a lot to be desired. From 3DS emulation to your favorite titles on the Google Play Store, it handles a lot, even if it’s not necessarily the best gaming phone you can get. If you’re interested in Red Magic but are put off by some of the missing features, then the Red Magic 6 might be more up your alley.

So, what is a gaming phone? That’s the wrong question to answer. Because sure — the Red Magic 6R has a gaming-centric design that may turn people off, but makes it good for gameplay with the responsive shoulder button surfaces, alongside a fluid 144Hz display, powerful Snapdragon 888 processor and liquid cooling. But in making these decisions, Nubia has accidentally made one of the best flagship killers out there. The build is premium, performance is fast and responsive, and the screen is gorgeous. Provided you can look past the average cameras, and the gamer-fuelled hardware design and Android skin, this is a great device for power users that offers seriously good value for money.

I'm pretty torn when it comes to the RedMagic 6R. The price for the hardware you get is pretty great, especially during a worldwide chip shortage, and the absence of the internal fan means there are no moving parts to break. But the software that controls this exceptional hardware is frustrating in everyday use, which is what RedMagic was supposed to be targeting with the slimmer profile and mainstream features.

The Red Magic 6R is a powerful and well-priced handset. But is it really and truly a gaming phone? There are some features to help tell it apart but, really, it's much like many other flagships of the moment. That presents a bit of a conundrum. What's its real purpose? It heats up more than Red Magic's chunkier alternatives, for starters, and while it's certainly got enough going on under the hood to crunch through gaming sessions, so have many other flagship products - ones that may also offer generally better software and camera experiences. Ultimately, it's been a cinch using the Red Magic 6R, because the experience hasn't brought physical size irks or really any additional major compromises. That it's blurred the meaning of what a gaming phone can be is more a moment of contemplation. After all, at this asking price, you might not be bothered about the gaming angle at all - and just want an affordable alt-flagship without the in-your-face typical gaming aesthetics.

The nubia Red Magic 6R is a good gaming phone with universally likable aesthetics and powerful hardware. It has gaming triggers and suitable software to handle everything gaming- and performance-related. The charge-separation feature is quite a thoughtful addition, too. It's not the best gaming phone, that's for sure - it omits stereo speakers and a 3.5mm jack, the battery life is not impressive, and it could benefit from an improved software package. No phone, especially priced at €499, needs to be perfect. It needs to be good enough for the price, and the nubia Red Magic 6R is more than good enough - it has the best Qualcomm chip, one of the best screens on the planet, and useful gaming triggers. We recommend giving it a chance for its all-around package - the Red Magic 6R is a good phone for any purpose, gaming included.

Commentaire
ZTE:
