Le Dell XPS 13 Gold - 2013 est un ultrabook très correct. Son endurance est dans la moyenne mais, à 1 150 euros (hors frais de port), la machine devrait plutôt atteindre 5 à 5 h 30 en lecture vidéo. Avec seulement 4 heures environ, le XPS 13 échappe de peu au linchage ! De plus, il lui manque un écran avec une meilleure définition (seulement 1 366 points par 768) et, surtout, une technologie d'affichage offrant des angles de vision plus ouverts, pour rivaliser avec les étoiles montantes des ultrabooks.

Having tested both the $1,399 quad-HD touch-screen XPS 13 and the $899, nontouch 1080p version, I prefer the latter. As someone who mainly uses desktop mode in Windows 8.1, I'll gladly sacrifice the touch screen for 4 additional hours of battery life.

They created a compact and light laptop with a 13 inch display, fast hardware, good keyboard/trackpad and long battery life, and on top of all these, a laptop with very little flaws. On the other hand, the proper priced options lack a touchscreen, so if you're not a big fan of matte panels, you're going to have to pay a lot for a model configured to your needs. In the end, when I draw the line, the reviewed Dell XPS 13 model is a good buy. For me is a lighter, smaller, faster and longer lasting computer than my old ThinkPad. I’m loosing on ports and typing experience, but I’m gaining plenty, so I’m happy to make the switch. For everyone else, I believe the XPS 13 can be a solid option if you need a compact, well built and fast computer for everyday activities. It’s not without rivals, and I’m looking here and the Acer Aspire S7-393 and even the Core M Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro and Asus Zenbook UX305, plus the other devices that will be released in the future, including that rumored 12 inch Macbook Air. But it should face them all head-high.

The £650 Asus is a little slower, larger and heavier, but it’s also a whole lot cheaper than the XPS 13's £1,199 asking price while still being brilliant - even the entry-level 13in MacBook Air costs £849. If size, weight and a backlit keyboard weren’t all-important, that would swing things Asus’s way for us.

Le XPS 13 est un excellent PC. Le XPS 13 tactile est un excellent PC avec une fonctionnalité chère et inutile. Vous l’aurez compris, l’ajout d’un écran tactile était tout sauf nécessaire sur un tel produit. En plus de monter le prix artificiellement, cela n’améliore pas l’expérience, au contraire. Bref, si vous souhaitez l’un des meilleurs ultrabook du marché, miser plutôt sur un XPS 13 classique. Croyez-nous, il n’a pas besoin d’un écran tactile pour être efficace.

If you want a portable laptop then you should definitely consider the XPS 13. However, the basic £850 version's display isn’t the best I’ve seen. Those with the cash would do better to invest in the more expensive QHD+ touchscreen model. If you’re not dead set on getting a proper laptop, there are also a number of convertibles at the same price point, like the Surface Pro 4, that are also worth a look.

DELL réussit à séduire avec son XPS 13 2 en 1. Le constructeur a réussi à créer l'ultra portable hybride presque parfait. Presque, parce que quelques petits défauts viennent noircir le tableau. Son écran aurait pu être plus réussi avec un meilleur équilibre d'autant que le format hybride favorise une utilisation multimédia. Autre détail fâcheux : l'absence d'adaptateur USB Type-C vers d'autres connectiques. Nous comprenons tout à fait que la finesse du PC ne permette pas d'intégrer de port USB classique ou de port HDMI, Ethernet etc. Mais un adaptateur aurait été apprécié. Et voir DELL facturer son simple adaptateur Ethernet 90 euros fait un peu tâche. Car à 1459€, le DELL XPS 13 2 en 1 n'est pas excessif. Il est proposé à un prix juste pour toutes les possibilités qu'il offre. Certains concurrents, plus chers, sont moins aboutis. Si vous cherchez un ultra portable hybride de qualité, le DELL XPS 13 2 en 1 se rapproche de la perfection.

However, the combination of Intel's powerful but power-hungry and warm-running Alder Lake 12th Gen Core i7-1280P 14-core chip, seem to be a bit too much for Dell's thermal solution to handle in this wafer-thin laptop design. Though noise output from the machine was very tame and actually best-of-breed in the 2.5 - 3 lb laptop category, the bottom of the machine can get uncomfortably warm at its Ultra Performance power and thermal settings. Battery life left something to be desired as well. In addition, with only two USB Type-C Thunderbolt 4 ports available on this machine, some users may find this laptop's IO expansion options to be too limited. We really wish Dell had not removed the microSD card reader as well.

If this is the future of Dell’s XPS family, then bring it on. The new keyboard deck design with its hidden touchpad, huge keycaps and capacitive touch bar gets a solid thumbs up from me and the updated chassis design breathes new life into the classic XPS formula. Wrap all that up with Intel’s 12th generation CPUs, an excellent touchscreen display and powerful speaker system, and Dell truly has a winner on its hands. The middling battery life sets it behind the M2 MacBook Air but this is otherwise a superlative alternative.

L’explication est sûrement marketing, mais la question se pose malgré tout puisque l’appareil se dote à nouveau d’une puce qu’il n’est, au fond, pas capable d’exploiter comme il se doit. Il s’agit là de la principale lacune de ce modèle 2023 qui, fortement bridé par défaut, ne parvient pas à développer des performances suffisantes pour rivaliser avec ses concurrents. Un défaut à laquelle on peut ajouter une autonomie toujours trop légère et un placement tarifaire encore un peu trop élevé. En l’état, le XPS 13 Plus n’est donc pas suffisamment compétitif, et c’est bien dommage, car il a clairement des arguments à faire valoir. Outre son écran OLED, son excellent duo clavier / trackpad, et sa qualité de finitions exemplaire, l’engin dispose actuellement d’un des plus beaux design du marché et d’un format hyper compact rudement appréciable.

It features a bold design that you either love or you don't, but you have to give Dell credit for sticking to its vision. The minimalist approach isn't for everyone, and users that need lots of connectivity won't have much use for the spare port selection. I'd recommend this laptop to freelancers, remote and hybrid workers, and anyone that needs battery life that extends multiple days. There's an argument to be made for preferring the Intel version of this year's XPS 13, or the similarly-priced, similarly-sized Lenovo Slim 7x, which features a similar build but more utilitarian design approach.

Surprisingly, while the performance is certainly there, battery life remained closer than I would have imagined. It’s fair to say that you won’t get better battery life than the Intel version of the XPS 13, and the MacBook Air M3 remains pretty far ahead. At the same time, the XPS 13 9345 ran a lot cooler, which is a major benefit. That alone is enough to warrant serious consideration. Then again, there will always be some degree of some uncertainty over compatibility with Windows on Arm, and it does cost an extra $150. I think that’s worth the upgrade, but it may not be a straightforward choice. Either way, I can say that if you want a small, light, and fast laptop, the XPS 13 (9345) is a solid choice.
