I would say that 14″ laptops are probably the sweet spot for me. Not too large to use on a lap like a 15″ one, and not too small that it becomes hard to work on like 13″ ones. So when the ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED came around for me to review, I was definitely looking forward to have a good time. It is pretty much the evolution of ASUS’ older ASUS Zenbook 14, into the age of 16:10 displays, while also featuring a secondary display. Yes, the OG ScreenPad is here again!

All said, the Asus Zenbook 14X OLED is a breakthrough design that is a step above its peers, offering an excellent blend of performance in a compact, highly portable form factor that makes it ideal for general computing, content consumption and light content creation. While the lack of upgradability, middling battery life and slightly quirky port allocation are causes for concern for power users, it doesn’t detract from its appeal and its fair price tag as it offers a vastly better OLED display, top of the line hardware and even an entry level GPU than even the somewhat similarly equipped Expertbook B9 B9400C for a modest increase in weight while retaining the compact form factor. The Asus ZenBook 14X OLED redefines the boundaries of what a thin and light laptop ought to be with a superb display and excellent performance along with a good array of ports as well as a novel ScreenPad. The only quibble here is the middling battery life though it’s more than sufficient for an extended work meeting out of the office and back.

Here’s the deal: if you’re always on the go and are looking for a laptop with an excellent battery life, the ASUS ZenBook 14X OLED isn’t gonna do it for you. The laptop would not make it through an entire workday without a charge. For the budget-conscious, S$2398 isn’t exactly pocket-friendly too. However, the price is justifiable given that the laptop offers discrete graphics and an OLED screen. For reference, Dell’s latest XPS 13 does not come with a discrete graphics card despite being in a similar price range as the ASUS ZenBook 14X OLED. All things considered, the ASUS ZenBook 14X OLED brings to the table a top of the line screen and outstanding performance – if you don’t move around too much, it is a solid laptop that is worth considering.

Our top-of-the-line ASUS ZenBook 14X OLED with Intel Core i7 is officially priced at RM5999, meanwhile, the Intel Core i5 model starts at RM4999. Even though the Core i5 model is more than enough for the thin-and-light laptop use case, we are ultimately limited by the 8GB RAM which we had no choice but to get the Core i7 CPU with 16GB RAM. The new OLED screen is a splendid upgrade for the ASUS laptop lineup. ASUS is fully committed to this upgrade that basically sets their laptop apart from the rest of the competition. If you’re a fan of OLED display, ASUS should be the only brand whereby you can choose one from the top ZenBook lines to the affordable VivoBook series. As for the ScreenPad, I personally think it is still a gimmick. Unless you’re using the laptop with an external mouse, chances are you will not use the laptop with the ScreenPad turned on. It overlaps with the trackpad function whereby the trackpad overlay will basically cover up all the contents and it is so much of a hassle to switch it all the time.

The Zenbook 14X OLED is a fairly affordable way to pair a 90Hz OLED screen with a GPU. Despite various nitpicks I have, it works well enough as a driver. The problem is that another laptop exists — the Vivobook Pro 14 OLED, with a very similar chassis, a very similar screen, and a better GPU — at a significantly lower price. I’m actually wondering if Asus and Samsung got wires crossed here because it makes no sense that the Zenbook costs so much more, so I’ll be keeping an eye out for any changes as we approach the release. The main thing that could potentially justify the Zenbook’s price premium is its fancy touchpad. I really do like that Asus is doing this touchpad. I like that there’s a company out there trying things like this that are new and different — and that those things actually work. I can’t tell you how refreshing it is, as someone whose job it is to test a million laptops a week that are all basically the same thing, to know that there’s a company out there trying to figure out where they can do things differently.

Asus has gone all-in on OLED laptops. It introduced the cheapest laptop you could buy with an OLED display in the Asus ZenBook 13 OLED, which we have named the best laptop under $1,000. It put two OLED displays in the ZenBook Pro Duo 15 OLED. And it even introduced the first Windows detachable tablet with an OLED display in the Vivobook 13 Slate OLED. The company even includes OLED in a laptop’s name, underlining what it considers to be the essential feature. That’s the case with the ZenBook 14X OLED, a laptop that will arrive in early in 2022 with — you guessed it — a high-resolution OLED panel.

Boiled down to its essence, the ZenBook 14X OLED is a well-built 14-inch laptop with robust performance and a spectacular OLED display. It’s easy to recommend on that basis alone, but it has some nice extras like the ScreenPad 2 touchpad that comes in handy if you’re willing to take some time to learn its various uses. It’s not perfect. Battery life is mediocre, perhaps not crossing our all-day threshold, and it’s a tiny bit expensive. But taken as a whole, it’s a solid addition to the growing herd of 14-inch laptops and is worth a place on your list. The ZenBook 14X OLED is a great 14-inch laptop that competes strongly against its competition.

Where the ZenBook 14X OLED disappoints is in its battery life. No matter how you look at it, at just over five hours, it’s one of the poorest showings in its class. Sure, you could probably stretch its battery to six or even seven hours if you dial back the brightness but it doesn’t hide the fact that a ZenBook 14 Ultralight with comparable system specifications lasted nearly 70% longer. Thermal throttling is a concern too, though, to be fair, it’s a problem that plagues all notebooks of this class. However, it’s something to note especially if you intend to run intensive applications like gaming or video-editing for extended periods. Ultimately, the ZenBook 14X OLED’s well below-average battery life means it’s probably not for everyone. And luckily, our great ultraportable notebook shootout shows that there is no shortage of alternatives But if it were me, I'll opt for the ZenBook 14 Ultralight. It's cheaper now (S$2,198) and while it's display is no where near as nice, it counters with slimmer, lighter dimensions and excellent battery life.

Having used this updated Asus ZenBook 14X for the last weeks, I must say I’m impressed. Asus pretty much addressed all my major complaints of the standard ZenBook 14 models of the past: the 14X feels sturdier made, offers stiffer hinges that allow the screen to go flat 180 degrees, offers a much improved thermal design that blows the hot air to the sides, and not into the screen, offers faster hardware, and excellent 16:10 screen options, both matte or touch. Plus a camera, finger-sensor, 3.5 mm jack, etc. Anyway, that’s about it for now on the Asus ZenBook 14X series. Look for our final review for proper conclusions, and in the meantime, I’d love to hear your thoughts on this series and if there’s anything in particular that you might want us to test for the review, so get in touch down below.

Apparently, one of the best things about this device is its design and build quality. It is covered by the MIL-STD-810H certification, but most importantly, the results can be seen in real life. The laptop is thin and light, and we were surprised to see that it is also pretty powerful as well. Ultimately, the ZenBook 14X OLED is a highly-anticipated device. And we really can see why. Its versatility and surprisingly good performance are combined with a fantastic OLED display. All of this will help you excel at work. Keep an eye out, because it won’t be too long before the version with the 12th Gen Intel processor goes out. And it will surely bring a mighty performance boost.

In many respects, you know precisely what you’re getting with the Asus Zenbook 14X OLED. This latest addition to the lineup features all the hallmarks we’ve come to know from the brand, including a premium design, handsome chassis and a bevy of ports to ensure connectivity and functionality are never a concern. Added to this is a new panel which brings content to life and truly a step above what we have encountered previously from Asus. This comes at the cost of battery life, which was far less than we have seen on past Zenbooks we have reviewed. As such, while the enhanced panel is welcome and this Zenbook ticks all the usual boxes, it will need to be plugged in a lot of the time, which is only a problem if you do not plan to work remotely or need to be on the go often. Starting at R29 999 (RRP), the Zenbook 14X OLED delivers plenty, but if you’re swayed by the new panel alone. it might be best to wait to see if Asus can nail the battery performance on a future OLED offering. If you are desk bound most of the time though, it is a truly premium piece of hardware to work with.

While not as compact or lightweight as other modern ultrabooks, this 14X is by far my favorite ZenBook design to date and a possible recommendation for those looking for a premium multi-purpose portable laptop. At roughly 3.1 lbs, this offers excellent build quality and premium aesthetics, uncompromised inputs, IO, and screen choices, as well as a powerful implementation of the Intel 11th gen hardware platform, paired with a good thermal design and a big battery. It's up to you if the Intel hardware is enough for your needs, though, or you'd rather go the AMD route, or even wait for next-gen specs.

The ASUS ZenBook 14X OLED did really well in our review, giving pros in the Philippines a fantastic choice if they’re looking for a laptop that has excellent color accuracy that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. The laptop’s utility as a video-editing platform is hampered a little bit by a lack of a discrete GPU. It’s not impossible to do, but your rendering times will be a little longer.

At S$2,698, the ZenBook 14X OLED Space Edition is a rather pricey notebook. Especially when you consider that ASUS has other models with similar capabilities and specs that cost less. That’s a hefty premium for some cosmetic changes. It's pricey but the ZenBook 14X OLED Space Edition has a space-inspired design, a fun customisable OLED display on the front, and should be quite exclusive. Ultimately, whether the ZenBook 14X OLED Space Edition is right for you will come down to how much of a ZenBook fan you are or how much you really like the space-inspired design and that somewhat gimmicky but admittedly very funky customisable OLED display on the front. If you like it enough to cough up the extra dough that ASUS is asking, this is a fine notebook. The build quality, display, and performance are all good. The keyboard and trackpad are great, and it has a good offering of ports. The only bad thing you could say about it is that it’s a little chunky and heavy, and battery life isn’t the greatest.

The ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition isn’t what I can call groundbreaking or a game changer in the world of productivity laptops. Truth be told, I actually think this laptop is just its parent company playing it safe with the market and merely provided incremental upgrades over last year’s 14X OLED laptop. At a starting price of RM5599, the Space Edition is definitely a solid piece of machinery and, to an extent, art. On top of that, its lightweight means I’m not grumbling to myself for having to carry my usual workhorse around, despite the fact that it is only several hundred grams heavier. The typing experience is solid, the OLED display is a real treat to the eyes, and the fact that it is a touchscreen doesn’t hurt its chances. My only concern with the Space Edition is the little tics and quirks that it has, especially the weird, sluggish loading times for some apps. Having said that, if that little caveat doesn’t sway you, then have at this laptop.

Much of what makes the Zenbook a Zenbook is its usability nuances. Its a laptop intended for discerning mobile workers while making itself distinct enough from a Macbook but maintains an air of affluence all to its own. Many laptop makers follow the same trope with Dell and Lenovo also closely following the same trend in terms of aesthetics. In terms of performance, many of the 12th-gen Intel laptops will rock the same specs so performance will be a moot point across the entire industry once we get saturated with these models. Along with the Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition, ASUS also gave us a glimpse of their entire line-up of Zenbook OLEDs for 2022. The Zenbook 14X OLED standard edition, Zenbook 14(non-X) OLED and Zenbook 14 Flip OLED all join the stable as the H1 2022 lineup for ASUS featuring 12th-gen Intel Core CPUs with one model featuring AMD (Zenbook 14 OLED UM3402YA).

The ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition is a distinctive looking take on the traditional Zenbook design and is one of the first laptops to feature the latest 12th Gen Intel Alder Lake CPU along with fast DDR5 RAM, a useful NumberPad 2.0 touchpad, a large and colour accurate OLED touchscreen and robust build quality. It offers excellent performance as an ultra portable for photo editors and for other light content creation tasks on top of being an excellent paperwork cruncher and offers a unique unboxing experience but Its middling endurance, increased price and the ornamental top lid OLED display make it fall short of greatness. If you have the cash to spare and are looking for a unique, high performing ultraportable with a colour accurate display, this particular laptop is quite literally out of this world.

Tough question to answer, honestly. Let’s take a look at the variants available and their prices. Honestly speaking, I think the Zenbook 14X OLED UX5401 Space Edition isn’t exactly that expensive. It’s a special edition after all, so some price premium is expected. However, I highly recommend the Core i5-12500H version instead since the performance out of the Core i7-12700K version is probably not going to be utilized much.

After spending more than two weeks with the ZenBook 14X OLED Space Edition, I have to say that I'm pleased with it. Among its best features are the superb OLED visual presentation and its performance capability for creators to do their work. The Space Grade build also means it's tough enough to work in space. But then again, not everyone is an astronaut, and I'm quite sure that the choice of materials jacked up the price. Currently, there are two models with different processors and storage options. The first one comes with an Intel Core i7-12700H + 1TB SSD is RM6499, whereas the Intel Core i5-12500H + 512GB variant costs RM5599. To be honest, you could get similar laptops from Acer, Lenovo, or MSI. On top of that, ASUS has other models that do the same thing at lower than RM5K prices, except without the cool design and external ZenVision display. But if you do have the budget, why not?

When legendary fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, the creative director of the French fashion house Chanel, was alive, his shows used to have themes that transported audiences to a different world. For the Fall 2017 collection, Lagerfeld took his audience to space with a 35-meter tall rocket that launched during the show’s finale at the Grand Palais. While reviewing the ZenBook 14X OLED Space Edition, I had a similar feeling of being sucked into the vision of creating a world that explored the idea of space travel, with Elton John’s “Rocket Man” playing in the background. I used the ZenBook 14X OLED Space Edition for a few days, and here’s what I think about the collector’s item that’s more than a laptop.

Ultimately, whether the ZenBook 14X OLED Space Edition is right for you will come down to how much of a ZenBook fan you are, or how much do you really like the space-inspired design and that somewhat gimmicky but admittedly very funky customisable OLED display on the front. If you like it enough to cough up the extra dough that ASUS is asking, this is a fine notebook. The build quality, display, and performance, are all good. The keyboard and trackpad are great and it has a good offering of ports. The only bad thing you could say about it is that it’s a little chunky and heavy, and battery life isn’t the greatest.

Based on first impressions, the ZenBook 14X OLED Space Edition is a delightful and desirable notebook. Of course, the classic space-inspired design elements help – after all, who can resist that funky customisable display on the cover? But perhaps more crucially, Intel’s new Alder Lake processor seems to make a big difference in terms of usability. I’m sure performance will be measurably better but what stood out was just how much more responsive this notebook is to use.

Weighing 1.3kg and measuring 15.9mm thick, the ZenBook 14X OLED Space Edition is right in line with today's mainstream laptops. It can sit perched at an angle on the unfolded adapter box, but this isn't the most reassuringly sturdy mount. When flat on a table, Asus' ErgoLift hinge design lifts the rear a little so that the base is angled for more comfortable typing and better airflow. The ZenBook 14X OLED Space Edition will undoubtedly command a premium price. Asus says it will launch in India later in 2022 and be widely available. If you're looking for a laptop that will stand out anywhere, this would certainly fit the bill, but we'll wait till we have more information before deciding whether the extra display and design flair are worth choosing this model over its more conventional siblings.

En plus d'utiliser des processeurs Intel, Asus propose également des processeurs AMD pour son Zenbook 14X. Il en résulte un avantage en termes de prix ; le modèle est disponible pour moins de 1 000 euros (~1 018 dollars). Anyone looking for a performance laptop that’s actually useful as a portable should give the Zenbook 14X a thorough appraisal. It offers about as much power as you’re going to find in a portable computer right now without getting yourself an RGB-festooned gaming PC. Taking on the MacBook Pro in terms of sheer brute computing power, the Zenbook is cheaper, has a touchscreen and runs Windows 11, but can’t compete for battery life or cachet.

The Zenbook’s disappointing battery life makes a very good case for the MacBook Pro as the better buy for most people. Even if you love the 14X’s futuristic design, it comes at quite a cost. Especially if you’re looking for a portable device to bring out and about, the extra hours of freedom from an outlet that the MacBook gives you should be worth an uglier computer. For those willing to compromise on RAM, storage, and a few hours of battery life, the 14-inch MacBook Pro is also an excellent alternative — and it can be purchased for less than the Zenbook if you can find it on sale. If you are looking for a Windows alternative to the MacBook Pro and you don’t care about battery life at all, this Zenbook is competitive in basically every other respect. It’s incredibly well-built and powerful with a standout display, and its vibrant design is fun in a way no Apple laptop has ever been. It’s really too bad that Asus didn’t put an AMD chip inside it.

There’s no two ways around it: the Asus ZenBook 14X OLED Space Edition is a cool laptop. The visual language is unlike anything else you’ll see in 2022, the ergonomic usability is fantastic and the power under the hood is enough to tackle even more intensive workloads. But there are some flaws that prove problematic, be it the occasionally distracting display coating, the lacking battery life or the higher temperatures of its underside. Overall, it’s a great system and if you like the space aesthetic, it’s worth the money. But don’t forget that you can get (most of) the same package for a cheaper price in the standard ZenBook 14X OLED.

The ASUS Zenbook 14X Space Edition is a great thin and light laptop that offers amazing performance, a great multimedia experience, and decent battery life. The Intel Core i9 chip powering the laptop is highly capable of handling heavy workloads however it loses some of its performance due to thermal constraints. Moreover, on a personal note, the laptop should have come equipped with a dedicated GPU, even an entry-level RTX 3050 would’ve sufficed. But as much as I’d like, the ASUS Zenbook 14X Space Edition is not about those things. It is a niche product, that’s built to last and impress anyone upon the first look. It is a daily driver and also a specialized laptop at the same time. It succeeds in doing so but costs way too much. However, I know that people looking for such a product will have no problem shelling out such a huge amount of money. For the rest of the public though, I’d suggest looking at other more affordable options.

Asus has tried to do something different here. It has come up with a laptop which is dressed to impress in an otherwise boring and predictable Windows laptop market. The ZenBook 14X OLED Space Edition is yet another fine piece of craftsmanship where a lot of attention has been paid to detailing. The special packaging, unique design elements, secondary display and a gorgeous OLED panel try hard to convince you to pay Rs 1.15 lakh (base variant) for this laptop. Still, that's a lot of money. That's why its difficult to recommend the ZenBook Space Edition despite all its charm. It struggles on the gaming front and doesn't have anything extraordinary for the price it asks. If you like design, there is no harm spending on the ZenBook 14X Space Edition. Otherwise, the MacBook Air will always look like a better option.

The Asus ZenBook 14X OLED Space Edition is the kind of laptop that's made for a small number of people, but it delivers exactly what they want – for the most part. There's very little here that you won't like, but its surprisingly short battery and hefty price tag make the device a powerful, premium showpiece that's best kept in orbit around a nearby power outlet.

In summary, the Asus Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition is unique and looks unlike anything else on the market. The space edition retails for Rs. 1,14,990 for the i5 variant, Rs. 134,990 for the i7 variant and Rs. 1,69,990 for the i9 variant respectively. Surely, it’s on the pricier side of thin and light laptops, but it offers many unique features like the overall design and esthetics, customizable outdoor screen, and more. It also has the usual notebook features, such as an excellent display, great build quality, a pleasant keyboard, touchpad, etc. If you are someone who appreciates all the things related to the Space Edition, the laptop is undoubtedly worth the money. All in all, if you are not looking for something as unique as the Space Edition and want to save some money, the recently launched Zenbook 14 is worth a look.

The Asus ZenBook 14X OLED Space Edition is a great attempt at creating something exciting out of a mundane high-end Windows notebook. Asus has certainly gone the distance to justify the extra you pay for this one, especially with the special packaging, that space-themed paint job, a cutesy display, some beefy performance bits inside, and a gorgeous OLED display. It all looks exciting but for the extra I am paying, it just doesn’t feel as special as the ROG special offs we have seen in the past. Even if you consider the base Core i5 variant at Rs. 1,14, 990, the ZenBook 14X OLED Space Edition doesn’t bring anything revolutionary or exciting. It is essentially the same Windows 11 laptop you can buy for much less, albeit with a meh paint job and some tacky wallpapers that shouldn’t have been approved by Asus designers in the first place! Being a fan of all things space, I could not find it exciting enough to spend an extra day with the ZenBook 14X OLED Space Edition over the designated review period. That small display on the lid look promising but is simply useless by all means at the moment.

An outlay of Rs 1,69,990 will be needed to make you a proud owner of the ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition, making it a pricey proposition. Of course, this isn’t a run-of-the-mill device, and spending that kind of money might not seem justified but if you’re not a big ASUS fan or a space buff. If you do decide to do that however, your money will get you a device that’s not just a capable, feature-rich and unique laptop, but one that can turn heads and get you loads of attention as well.

Space. Whether the fictitious trappings of Star Trek or the real-life missions demystifying our solar system, space exploration has informed nearly every aspect of who I've been since I woke up early one early-nineties morning to watch the Space Shuttle hurtle into the heavens on a pillar of fire. So I can’t help but think ASUS made the Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition especially for me. A PC with enough portable power to be useful here on the ground, but with a look and feel more at home in orbit. The Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition is a silver-anniversary celebration of the first ASUS laptop to fly aboard the Mir space station – and it’s also a commemoration of crewed spaceflight as a whole.

With the ZenBook 14X Space Edition, Asus offers a powerful ultraportable built on a 12th gen Intel Alder Lake hardware platform, very capable in CPU-heavy loads, but not as competent in GPU tasks and efficiency compared to the alternative AMD platforms available in this space as of 2022. At the same time, the 14X is still my favorite ZenBook design so far, with the 16:10 screen, the uncompromised IO and inputs, and the updated thermal design, but I'm not entirely sold on some of the particularities of this Space Edition design, especially as this demands a premium over the regular Zenbook 14X variants with similar specs and doesn't offer all the configuration options available with the standard 14X.

What the Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition ultimately boils down to, is whether one is willing to fork out an extra S$300 for aesthetics and incremental improvements.
