Lenovo has crafted a brilliant, forward-thinking device that could very well create a subcategory in computing all of its own. But, with low-power components inside holding it back against the tablet competition, it’s tough to outright recommend you buy the first generation.

The tablet is in a weird spot. It was supposed to be this hybrid that lives somewhere between the laptop and the smartphone, complementing both. But as smartphones got bigger and laptops got lighter, smaller and more powerful, it became really hard to justify picking up a tablet. And so, the need for such a device dwindled.

My only note of caution is that, from past experience with this combination of Atom processor and 4GB of RAM, Windows 10 will on occasion seem sluggish. Still, if you’re willing to make speed and keyboard sacrifices for all the benefits that come in return, then the Yoga Book is the device for you.

The Yoga Book offers a glimpse of the future in a laptop design. There are lots of reasons to seriously consider the Yoga book; first, it looks cool, it’s a sleek little computer with a Halo Keyboard that looks innovative and also a convertible that can be used as a tablet. Biggest drawbacks are that it’s not a super powerful device and lacks some basic utility ports and some people won’t like the feel of the touchscreen keyboard after prolong usage.

Lenovo's Yoga Book, at this point of time, feels like a laboratory experiment. It's not a failed experiment though. The Yoga Book works well as a tablet and not so well as a laptop. It is slightly better than a regular tablet -- even though its battery life leaves a lot to be desired -- and still far from being an ideal laptop. It is in the middle of it all and Lenovo is well aware of its limitations. At Rs 49,990 the Yoga Book is a lot about the experience, even though it doesn't give you the best of it.

If you are patient enough, love to try out innovations and so most of your work in a Web-based world, then this is a no-brainer. Yes, you will get better-specced notebooks for the Rs 49,990 that the Yoga Book charges, but none of them is remotely as versatile, portable or good-looking as it is.

We gave the Android Yoga Book four stars and an Editors' Choice. Having tested the Windows version, we've decided that we, um, like the Note Saver app more than OneNote. Android feels peppier on an Atom PC with 4GB of RAM than Windows 10 does, and the Android model didn't seem as slow to recharge. The fantastically light and slim design and top-quality screen are the same, and the flat keyboard equally vexing, on both.

The Lenovo Yoga Book is something completely new. It’s edgy and exciting in a way that few other computer products have been for as long as we can remember. It has a surprisingly reasonable price tag, but we’re quite convinced that this will never be anyone’s primary PC, and so it should be seen as an additional indulgence. This could be a great device to travel with, but that’s a waste of the digitser. On the other hand, serious digital artists might want to use software that the Yoga Book is too lightweight to run. There is a middle ground, but it seems pretty narrow.

There's no denying the fact that the Lenovo Yoga Book represents an altogether different class of PCs. Features like the Halo keyboard and real-time digitization of notes jotted down using the Real Pen stylus make it a one-of-a-kind gadget. But as futuristic as the Yoga Book is, it's not really usable for today's day-to-day computing tasks.

The Yoga Book is a very interesting and unique device. It works as a tablet, a laptop and functions as a pen tablet thanks to the integrated Wacom technology. At just 9.6 mm thickness this carbon black 2-in-1 hybrid between a laptop and a tablet really redefines the future of a productivity device for an always on-the-move professional. It weighs just 690 gms and feels like a true hard bound folder when held with both hands. Lenovo’s thinking behind this product has been to create a fusion device between an tablet and a laptop so you get to experience all: browse, work and play. Meant to handle basic productivity tasks, good enough for most professionals on the move, the device packs Intel’s Atom x5 processor within its thin base and works on Windows 10 Pro OS that’s the Windows version for mobile devices.

Summing up, the Android version has a longer battery life and lower latency, while the Windows version has better Pen technology and a familiarity in PC computing. It seems that the Windows version of the Yoga Book is better than the Android version, but neither of these devices are ideal for daily use primary PCs unless you do more writing and sketching than anything else.

With the YOGA Book, you get a sleek device in a tablet form-factor that comes with a comfortably integrated keyboard which is connected by wire. When pushing the boundaries of Industrial design also pushes usability and productivity, we can only approve. If someone asked us for a tablet for an artistic family member, we’d steer them towards the new Yoga Book. Lenovo focused on creating a solid, yet flexible user-input experience at an attainable price, and we think it delivered there. But it’s important not to lose sight of the Yoga Book’s trade-offs too. The Yoga Book is ultimately a light-duty, Atom-based tablet, and most users would probably want some additional horsepower if it was their main computing device. The Yoga Book, however, is well suited to its intended audience that will take advantage of the Real Pen and tablet input, and it offers strong battery life and unique features in an attractive, thin and light form factor.

It's rare that a product could be called revolutionary in its thinking, but that's certainly an accolade that could be awarded to the Lenovo Yoga Book. However, while the Yoga Book is one of the most exciting tech products we've seen in some time, it’s also convoluted. Many of its potential benefits won’t be seen as positives by many – even if they do represent an imaginative future – as ditching a traditional keyboard is a bold step into the unknown for many.

What the Yoga Book lacks in sheer performance, it makes up for in innovation. It opened my eyes to the possibilities of Windows’ touch capabilities. I see it as a more productive alternative to a tablet, or as a supplementary PC—something easier to take to a meeting than my full laptop. But while productivity can be quantified, creativity cannot be—and it’s the Yoga Book’s encouragement of the latter that points in a very interesting new direction for Windows devices.

The Lenovo Yoga Book stirs emotions like few other recent pieces of consumer electronics. Practicality or need be damned--I just want one! I seriously applaud Lenovo for taking a chance on a product like the Yoga Book, and I want them to continue evolving it. It has a lot of promise, but right now I feel that the Windows version is an answer to a problem few of us had--the main advantage of the virtual keyboard beyond good looks is that it allows for a rigid yet insanely thin laptop. Unless you type very little, I'm not sure it's worth the tradeoff. Maybe we'll see laptops of the future with something like Force Touch for the keyboard that will make typing easier and more natural.

The Lenovo Yoga Book, available with either Android or Windows, is a compelling hybrid device -- at least on paper. It ditches a physical keyboard for a touch-sensitive surface that does double duty as a keyboard and digital sketchpad. With the included stylus, you can draw on the deck, even when the tablet is asleep, and your notes will still be saved. You can even write on real paper and convert your scribblings to digital. Still, none of these writing features make up for the terrible typing experience. Although it scores points for novelty, the Yoga Book is too unreliable to be a true productivity machine.

The Yoga Book is the futuristic convertible that I want somewhere down the line. Lenovo definitely gets points for taking a risk and creating such a bold product. The Yoga Book's superthin, superlight chassis is the thing dreams are made of, while the Halo keyboard is straight out of a science fiction novel. The Create Pad gives you a realistic pen feel.

This is a very slim, very light hybrid laptop, available in both Windows 10 and Android versions. The backlit touch keyboard vanishes at the touch of a button and the included stylus works well on both the Wacom surface and with an ink tip on actual paper. The keyboard isn't suited for more than minimal typing, there's only a single Micro-USB port for accessories and charging, and the Atom processor is slower than mainstream laptops. The hefty pen, extra tips and paper pad are a lot of additional gear to carry around.

Yes, if you can accept that you are buying an Android tablet with some bonus features, not a laptop. Sadly, we cannot recommend the Yoga Book as a laptop replacement with this processor. It’s an excellent, innovative Android tablet with some cool tricks. However, it’s not the laptop replacement it could be if it had a better processor. For this reason we also do not recommend the Windows version. Wait for the next version, or grab a Windows-based 2-in-1 or Chromebook if you’re looking for more performance and functionality.

Because of stuff like this, it’s hard to recommend that someone should run out and buy the Lenovo Yoga Book right now. Lenovo has said that it plans to build a family of Yoga Book devices, and this feels very much like the first generation of that. It needs refinement. It needs more intuitive software. Maybe a couple more ports, too, even though that may mean sacrificing thinness.

Inside you’ll find a very basic computer: an Intel Atom x5-Z8850 CPU with 4GB of LPDDR3 memory and 64GB of eMMC storage. I started to benchmark the Yoga Book and just stopped after a few results, because guess what? It can’t play Crysis. It can handle browsing and using a few applications at once, but don’t overload it. The meager memory filled up, especially given the way I accumulate browser tabs. Under heavy use, it also tended to get warm in the upper margin of the bottom panel, near the middle of the hinge.

The Yoga Book’s stylus functionality is something I thought would disappoint, as the stylus can’t be used directly on the display. However, the touch pad transforms into an excellent graphics tablet that blew me away with its responsiveness, and even though you can’t write directly to the display, I had no issues annotating documents and drawing diagrams. In some ways this solution is better, as your palm doesn’t block the display while you annotate with the stylus.

Lenovo's new Yoga Book offers a truly novel take on digital note-taking. The device — which is set to launch in October for $499 — looks a lot like a 10-inch laptop, complete with a folding clamshell design, but it lacks a physical keyboard. Instead, that space is reserved for a flat, pressure-sensitive digitizer pad, which can be used in two ways. First, there's a touch keyboard that can be toggled on or off — but more on that in a minute. The more interesting functionality is the pad's ability to capture digital notes written down with a real ink pen.

There's some work to be done, it appears. While the keyboard works whenever you tap on a text box, the stylus's use is very limited at the moment. You can't use it on the main screen, and you can only use it to draw in apps which support it. The only app on our demo machines was the Note Saver app.

It kind of funny that this market screams for innovation and, often, when it gets it gets upset that innovation brings changes. It seems to want innovation but only if there really is no innovation. Having said that, the Yoga Book is arguably one of the most innovative and beautiful tablet products yet to hit the market.

The Yoga Book is one of the most exciting tech products we've seen in some time; it's the laptop reinvented. But the learning curve for some - those of us stuck in our old ways - might make it too tricky to use. Not the product for everyone, then, but certainly an innovation.

The Yoga Book is one of the most interesting hybrids to arrive this year and could be a breath of fresh air in a stagnating market that seems hell bent on copying Microsoft’s Surface design. I’m super excited to see how the Yoga Book’s touch keyboard and pen work with long term use. On paper the tech has a huge amount of potential for illustrators and those who like to take pen-written notes.

This device has a chance of carving a new “ultralight productivity” niche market which is underserved by current products. With current Android/iOS tablets, they become bulky and heavier as soon as you put a keyboard accessory on to get any kind of real productivity. They also don’t offer a paper writing option. The Keyboard integration options are just not compelling enough, or hacky. The Yoga Book has a superb keyboard integration from the start.

The device could be improved in a second generation - if Lenovo can squeeze a more powerful processor into a Windows version this could be a truly 5/5 product. For now, it remains an excellent but curious addition into the consumer tech world, but one that - importantly - proves Lenovo can design products as good as anyone else in the industry.

Lenovo has taken a chance with the Lenovo Yoga Book and it’s nice to see companies continually try something new with their product lines. That being said, the amount of time that the company sunk into developing the Halo keyboard appears to have hamstrung the product as a whole.

The Yoga Book’s ability to capture my pen-and-paper notes really impressed me. Using the device as a smart clipboard for your notepad is intuitive and works flawlessly out of the box, with zero setup required. And the fact that you can write with the display turned off and tucked behind the digitizer pad means that you can keep taking notes without needing to charge the thing every day. The Windows version of the Yoga Book can’t do that, so I would avoid that model.

I feel like Lenovo is attacking the segment of iPad customers that buy iPads because there are no other alternatives on the market. The Android version of the Yoga Book comes in at the same base $500 price that the iPad does and much cheaper than the iPad Pro, but offers far more functionality out of the box than both. The software experience is more polished on the iPad, but the Lenovo Yoga Book has that cool factor that makes me want to take it everywhere I go.

That is pretty much it for the hardware side if things. After my initial use of the Lenovo Yoga Book, I am finding that I’m very impressed with it. I will have to take a bit of time to get used to the Halo keyboard, but it is a lot better than I expected. I have actually written this whole post on the Lenovo Yoga Book, and I am going to be using it as my daily driver for the next few weeks.

It’s a nicely built tablet with great specs, sadly, Android still doesn’t look good or work well on a tablet. We’d recommend you look at the Yoga Book Windows 10 version. The Windows experience is better built for this type of device, unless you’re an artist who happens to like the Android art apps and the Lenovo software already on the tablet. With the YOGA Book, you get a sleek device in a tablet form-factor that comes with a comfortably integrated keyboard which is connected by wire. When pushing the boundaries of Industrial design also pushes usability and productivity, we can only approve. I find it to be the best 10-inch tablet for someone who types a lot or watches movies frequently.

The whole thing gets a little shaky when you go beyond Lenovo’s apps and services pre-installed here. Five years after bringing Android to tablets, Google just doesn’t seem to have the form factor figured out. So it’s not really Lenovo’s fault, but it does limit the capabilities for the Yoga Book. At $499, it’s tough to recommend this device when your money isn’t going very far. I’d actually recommend the Windows version because, despite being slightly more expensive, you’re getting an operating system built for the form factor. There’s little reason to buy an Android tablet right now, especially at $499. But there are plenty of reasons to get a full-blown laptop running software that matches perfectly with the hardware.

Can the Yoga Book be your notebook replacement? Probably not. But in most cases, the Lenovo Yoga Book can do so much more while other conventional tablets and laptops fail. In terms of productivity, the Halo keyboard might pose an issue to some users because let’s face it, you can’t beat the physical keyboard with a virtual one. Although, the one presented in this device comes pretty close. Also, if you really rely on your everyday tasks, the Windows version will suit you better while the Android variant will be more suitable for casual use and creativity, not to mention that the Android version still needs more polishing in terms of usability as we already mentioned in the software section.

If the Yoga Book had a more polished delivery, I'd be thoroughly impressed. For now, the less-than-perfect aspects stunt its hard-won flexibility and cripple that excitement. Maybe future generations will head in the right direction, but until then, I'd stick with solid, if less novel, 2-in-1 options.

A tough question for such a unique device. The Yoga Book should be very useful for students and sketchers who want to back up their work and also need a tablet for typed note taking. For everybody else with less specific use cases, a £400 Google Pixel C (with a third-party Bluetooth keyboard) might be a better choice. Or, if you want to spent a lot more, the highly capable 9.7-inch iPad Pro has better performance, an amazing stylus and a good keyboard. But with all of that you’re going to be spending close to £700.

The Yoga Book isn’t pretending it can replace your laptop, so don’t expect it to. You won’t get all your work done on it, but we are pleasantly surprised by how much we did get done when we needed to. Note taking with the paper remains the lasting attraction here, and while some tasks take slightly longer than if on a computer, the portability you gain for the price will be worth it for most.

The Yoga Book also fits comfortably into the STM satchel I have which I carry around with the ephemera of being a parent like tissues, snacks and random Pokemon toys etc. It’s a device that carries a lot of utility in a compact, and oh so sexy exterior.

In the end, though, the Yoga Book just aims a little too high, and while we can't deny just how chock full of potential this concept is, the execution fails to deliver in myriad ways – some big, some little. Take the stylus pen, for instance: it's great that it supports both device-safe stylus tips and real ink tips for working with paper, but there's no place to store neither the pen nor its interchangeable tips. Would it kill to have the pen open up to store extra tips inside?

The Lenovo Yoga Book, available with either Android or Windows, is a compelling hybrid device -- at least on paper. It ditches a physical keyboard for a touch-sensitive surface that does double duty as a keyboard and digital sketchpad.

In the end, the Lenovo Yoga Book is but a preview of the future. Even Lenovo itself says that it is just the first of many. Like any first generation device, it has a few quirks that make it less than perfect, but it deftly accomplishes what it sets out to do: offer an experience that combines the best of two creative worlds. It may not yet do for a primary workhorse, but as a companion device to take around for notes, scribbles and everything in between, it’s darn near perfect.

The Lenovo Yoga Book is intended for serious inkers and digital artists, built around a great idea. Lenovo executes the hardware portion very well, making the Yoga Book one of the most attractive and well-designed devices we’ve ever reviewed. The Watchband hinge is superb, as is the Wacom-powered Create Pad. The Android-powered Yoga Book we reviewed is betrayed by its software. Even though we didn’t test it, we’re confident Windows is a much better operating system for a device so centered on inking, given the focus Microsoft placed on it with the recent Windows 10 Anniversary Update.

There are so many glimmers of greatness in the Lenovo Yoga Book that I wish I loved it more. You can see the first hints of the future of laptops in the device, which straddles tablets and laptops, but Lenovo hasn't stuck the landing just yet. It's a great device for drawing and note taking, and Lenovo has some ideas for Android from which Google should borrow liberally. But typing on the Halo keyboard is difficult enough that I could never get real work done on it.

As you can tell, we're excited about the Lenovo Yoga Book. We'll also be excited to test the Windows 10 version, although our time with the Android tablet makes us suspect it may be the better deal of the two: Besides costing $50 less, it'll likely squeeze perkier performance out of the Atom CPU, and it comes with Art Rage versus Art Rage Lite (although OneNote will presumably work nicely with the Real Pen and Create Pad).

So, right now it’s a companion machine, albeit a charming and flexible one, though Lenovo isn’t going to leave it at that. The company has already told us that it sees this Yoga Book as just the first in a family of similar notebooks, offering something unique to those users whose requirements don’t begin and end with merely typing. The first Yoga Book may not be all things to everyone, but as a well-made and innovative flag bearer it has me mightily intrigued for the roadmap ahead.

Make no mistake, this is an amazing piece of hardware. Lenovo has clearly outdone themselves in design. If you really want Android to run on your laptop and don't care that apps are going to misbehave left and right, this is without a doubt the machine for you. If you're in love with this hardware and want an OS that actually makes sense in this form, the Windows Yoga Book is available right now and is a lot easier to recommend.

Can it do more than a tablet alone? It can, but at the cost of not being the best possible tablet. Can it replace your computer? The Atom processor and funky keyboard mean no, not likely. Ultimately, it’s like winding up with a platypus when all you really wanted was a beaver or a duck. The exception is if you enjoy digital sketching and note-taking enough that you want the option handy at all times, but not so much that you’d spring for a dedicated accessory. That’s a narrow frame of appeal to contort into, but hey. That’s what Yoga is for.

The Lenovo Yoga Book is a bold move. It does point to a convertible concept of the future. The hinge and paper writing digitization trump the current competition, and a bigger Yoga Book might be even more attractive. With a 12″ screen there’s room for a correctly spaced keyboard and a bigger touchpad.

The Yoga Book C930 comes tantalizingly close to being a great laptop, but sadly it falls short. There’s a whole lot to love about the device, from its thin and light design, gorgeous main screen and innovative E Ink secondary screen.

Overall it's a fancy-but-fluffy laptop take. If its ultra-thin-and-light style is your main demand, then go ahead. But you can otherwise find a more satisfying alternative at the same price, among the most normal-looking style crowd.

The clamshell chassis stands in stark contrast with the legions of tablet-like devices that get only thicker and heavier after you add the keyboard. Clamshells also give users much more control over the orientation of the display.

In the space right now, the Lenovo Yoga Book C930 is unlike anything else, which – combined with its pricey cost – can make it a tough sell over other comparable models. Take for instance the Microsoft Surface Pro 6 that starts at $899 sans keyboard (+$129.99 for the keyboard). The Surface Pro 6 offers the better 8th-generation Intel Core i5 processor. However, the Yoga Book C930 is an option worth considering because it bridges the tablet and mobile laptop experiences together – just as long as you have some patience in learning and acquiring a taste for its keyboard.

The Yoga Book C930 is an engineering marvel, and swapping its keys for an e-ink display is groundbreaking. But the addition of a drawing pad and (limited) e-reader functionality don’t necessarily make up for a weaker typing experience. If you can touch type on a tablet already, then go for it, but everyone else should try before you buy. Stodgy performance and a high price might deter road warriors looking for a performance machine, too.

The new Yoga Book C930 is yet another interesting concept of what the laptop of the future could look like. While many skeptics might disagree, just look at what happened to the physical keyboards on phones. There’s going to be a definite learning curve at first, but on the upside, wouldn’t it be great if your laptop keyboard could autocorrect your typing or even predict the next word? The price for a glimpse in to the future isn’t cheap. The You Book C930 starts at €999 (approximately Rs. 80,000), which makes it more of a premium offering than its predecessor.

The Yoga C930 doesn’t appear to be a significant update on the, admittedly still excellent, Yoga 920, but the changes that Lenovo has made are positive nonetheless. The minor hardware refresh puts it on a par with competing laptops such as the Dell XPS 15 2-in-1, and I’ll be super-keen to see how its Dolby upgrades perform with proper testing.

We love the Lenovo Yoga Book for its boldness; it does things differently and we respect that. That said, the 2018 Yoga Book ramps things up in many departments, with USB-C, a proper Intel Core i processor, better screen, knock-to-open feature and more. It's a step up, although it still feels like a laptop with one half in the future and the other in the past.

I really dig the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i. I love how futuristic the dual-screen design is, and I appreciate the upgrades Lenovo has made to performance and software stability. That being said, the Yoga Book 9i starts at $2,000, which is a lot of money. For the same price, you can get a lot of "boring" laptops with single displays that offer better performance, battery life, and portability. Dell's XPS 14, Apple's 14-inch MacBook Pro, and Lenovo's own Yoga 9i are just some examples., so you have to ask yourself whether you need two separate screens or if you can get by with one and take advantage of better performance and battery life.

The Lenovo Yoga Book 9i is an intriguing device due to its unique dual-screen design, and its multitasking capabilities are ideal for folks with large workloads. If you’re like me and have a dual-screen setup at home, the ability to have such usage while outdoors can’t be understated. For some, the Yoga Book 9i could be a huge game-changer. Though exceptional, the Yoga Book 9i is admittedly expensive. If its price is too steep or you find the dual-screen design gimmicky, the $1,399 Lenovo Yoga 9i Gen 8 is a great 2-in-1 laptop worth considering. The $1,399 Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360 is also a decent alternative for those invested in the Samsung ecosystem.

Deciding whether to buy the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i is challenging because it comes down to something different. If someone can afford it and wants to purchase such an unconventional device, they will simply go for it. First and foremost, it’s a fantastic showcase of Lenovo’s capabilities. The Yoga Book 9i is a laptop designed to mark the direction in which devices with dual screens will be heading in the near future. It’s a project meant to evoke emotions in us. Finally, this isn’t just a prototype; it’s a device you can go to the store and buy. Yes, it’s expensive, but when did that ever deter enthusiasts and fans? Believe me, I know many people who will buy this technology just to show off in front of colleagues at a business meeting, in front of clients during a presentation, or even among others in a cafe. Obviously, when the design of a dual-screen laptop becomes popular and a mainstream product, its perception will change. For now, it’s a novelty that deserves our attention. It must be acknowledged that the Yoga Book 9i has enormous potential.

The Lenovo Yoga Book 9i is one of the most interesting laptops we’ve reviewed in 2023. Or even in recent years, come to think of it. But it’s not going to be the most practical pick for many people. Our main complaint is it often doesn’t feel all that handy to use as a normal laptop when out and about. Working from a pure touchscreen interface? Not much fun. And while taking out the wireless keyboard improves matters a load, that’s not always ideal. Oh, and the glossy glass touchpad? Still rubbish. The Lenovo Yoga Book 9i shines brightest when working a bit like a dual-screen desktop PC that can be stashed in your rucksack. If that’s what you’re after then welcome to a slice of hybrid-laptop heaven.

Currently, the Lenovo website lists the Yoga Book 9i as "coming soon" with no price. However, it previously listed the Book 9i at $2,656 in Canada, though you could push that price higher by customizing it with extras like additional storage. While definitely expensive, it’s not significantly more than some high-end Windows laptops and 2-in-1s, notably Microsoft’s Surface Pro 9 and Laptop 5. For example, a similarly-specced Laptop 5 would run you $2,209.99, and a Pro 9 would cost $2,449.99 (and that’s before necessary accessories like the keyboard). The Yoga Book 9i’s price, thankfully, includes the must-have keyboard and folio accessories that allow the device to function at its best. Ultimately, I wouldn’t recommend the Yoga Book 9i as a device for working on the go, especially given its portability issues. That said, it offers a very unique PC experience and can outstrip the functionality of a traditional clamshell laptop when you’ve got it set up at your desk.

I’m skeptical of any laptop company that makes claims regarding how its product will improve my workflow; a lot of things are not made with neurodivergent brains in mind. But the Yoga Book 9i lives up to Lenovo’s claims and has been a better tool than I could have ever imagined for my unique brain. Efficiency isn’t just about how fast a computer can sort a spreadsheet with lots of formulas, but also how you can physically manipulate the device you’re using, to make your “organic chips” process information faster. That’s the Yoga Book 9i, a snappy machine that is both efficient in processing, power draw, and battery life, and can physically transform for a variety of use cases. Some of the closet alternatives you’ll find with some similar combination of price, specs, and features are the Apple MacBook Pro 13 M2, Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5i, and Acer Swift Go 16 , but none of them can do what the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i can do.

Is the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i a gimmick or a game-changer? I would say the latter because the dual-display setup makes a lot of sense when you have a couple of high-quality and high-resolution OLED touchscreens, something previous laptops of this type lacked. If you need two screens and maximum portability then there’s nothing to compete with this ingenious machine. The Yoga Book isn’t just a one-trick pony, though: the excellent sound system and good battery life mean that even if you use it as a conventional laptop with the Bluetooth keyboard, you’ll still have an excellent user experience. For once, reinventing the wheel has resulted in a better wheel.

The Lenovo Yoga Book 9i is a unique device in this category thanks to its dual-screen design, but with a high price that can’t be ignored. You can be rightly sceptical over how such a laptop can be worth this much cash but it strikes gold as a way to carry two screens in your work bag. The range of modes isn’t the coup that Lenovo would like to sell it as though.

The Lenovo Yoga Book 9i is a radical departure from a typical, clamshell laptop, and simply put, it is just fun to use. Though it is not the highest performing laptop we’ve seen, the dual 2.8K OLED touch displays, great webcam, solid speakers, stylus support, and innovative user interface all make for differentiated and high-quality computing experience. We could easily see this being an outstanding notetaking, drawing, design or general productivity laptop with far more screen real estate than you can get on any traditional notebook. As previously mentioned, the only ask that we might have is perhaps the inclusion of an SD card reader to complement the Thunderbolt ports to make loading photos and videos easier, but we understand why that might be excluded due to space constraints. Aside from that, what you see is what you get with the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i, with it's unique, useful dual display features.

As the first laptop to feature two displays, the Yoga Book 9i is a rather divisive machine. Starting at $2,000, not only is it really expensive, its performance is also slower than more traditional competitors in this price range. However, for people like me who constantly yearn for more screen real estate when I’m away from home, Lenovo has created something that is more than the sum of its parts. When space is limited, the Yoga Book 9i’s clamshell mode feels right at home on an airplane tray table. But when it's not, it can expand into a portable dual-screen workstation–complete with all the fixings of your desktop at home. And when you need to pack up, everything collapses into a neat, semi-self-contained bundle that fits in the smallest of laptop bags. The Yoga Book 9i is a nifty little transformer that’s more engaging than anything Michael Bay has directed in the last two decades.

All things considered, the Yoga Book 9i is a great execution by Lenovo. On top of a unique, versatile dual-screen design, it also offers users the convenience of a two-screen configuration on the go without having to lug around extra hardware. The provided accessories are thoughtful and do not add much bulk, so users can feel that they are getting good value after a significant investment into this laptop. With a $3,699 price tag, the device won’t be an easy buy for the average user, but if you can convince yourself to make use of the laptop to the fullest, it will definitely come in handy for a variety of situations.

Before I tried the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i, I assumed that the concept of a dual-display laptop was just a gimmick with more cons than pros. Now that I’ve been using it for a while, I’ve sort of bought into the idea of having just that much space without needing to hook up to an external monitor. Yes, the speaker could be better, but given that I personally mostly watch YouTube videos on my laptop, I’d say that it suffices. If you’re the kind that uses the built-in speakers on your laptop to watch films instead of using headphones or even just watching it on a TV, then this device’s speakers might disappoint you. I have no issues with the battery life as I don’t usually need to use my laptop outside for more than a couple of hours. That being said, the weight might be a minor annoyance for me while travelling, especially when coupled with the folio stand and keyboard.

While the idea of a dual-screen laptop seems like a far-out concept, with the Yoga Book 9i, Lenovo is proving there’s a lot of merit to its design. By including a bunch of bundled accessories including a stylus, a magnetic keyboard and a folding kickstand cover, the laptop can transform from a standard clamshell to a portable all-in-one in seconds. Its daul 13.3-inch OLED displays are punchy and bright and, despite having two panels instead one, battery life is pretty solid. The big issue is Windows because, while Lenovo’s hardware is solid, Microsoft’s OS isn’t quite ready for the dual-screen laptop revolution.

The Yoga Book 9i is a laptop strange enough that the core question here is not "is it any good?" but "why the hell do you want it?" This isn't the niche foldable dream of a laptop-sized thing can can turn into a desktop-sized PC, because the two displays are very much separate here. Love the idea of a dual portrait monitor setup you can carry around with you, or like having one widescreen display sitting above the other? Awesome, the Yoga Book 9i is for you. For the rest of us, the Yoga Book 9i's awkwardness when used as a plain old laptop casts a shadow over the bold design, especially given how pricey this thing is. Still, there are plenty of highlights: great speakers, bold OLED displays, long battery life and a highly usable wireless keyboard - but exactly who'll enjoy them, and under what circumstances? The jury is still out.

The obvious answer to this is, do you have the budget? $4,749.00 is a huge price to pay for a laptop and you could easily get a couple of very good laptops with change at that price, so if you’re shopping on a budget, this isn’t the laptop for you. Where I see this will really hit the mark is with travelling workers who want to maintain productivity and content creators who need, and value screen real estate but don’t need discrete graphics for their work. The hardware is really good-looking, as well as being highly functional and a delight to use. In reality, there are a few gripes and depending on your use case, some will have an impact on you, whereas others will not. It’s impressive hardware and a game changing form factor; if you truly need the screen space on the go, this really is an absolute beast of a machine. I’d happily tell anyone that fits the market for this to go and grab one, because I just don’t see any way they’ll be disappointed.

The idea of taking a laptop and replacing the keyboard deck with a second display is not new. Acer tried it with the Iconia 6210, which was built around two 14-inch, 1,366 x 768 touchscreen displays back in 2010. I dimly recall fiddling about with one and thinking it was an answer to a question nobody had ever, or would ever, ask. When faced with a product like the Yoga Book, something that could just as easily be described as daft as revolutionary, it helps to be able to distil what it offers into a concise and simple sentence, so here goes: The Yoga Book is a Windows laptop with two displays. If you do not need two displays, there's no need to pay £2,000 for the Yoga Book when you can buy something like the Asus Zenbook 14 Flip for half the price. But the Yoga Book could answer your prayers if you need a mobile two-screen solution without all the palaver of a separate portable display, most of which are rather drab and dreary IPS affairs.

Speaking of gaming, the dual-screen gaming mode is something special. Both panels can be used to play optimized titles (Asphalt 9, Modern Combat 5, and Dungeon Hunter 5). We had some fun with Asphalt 9 and it is such a joy to utilize the second screen for on-screen controls and map visualization, while you can enjoy the gameplay on the main panel. If Lenovo continues to work closely with other developers in order to optimize more titles for Lenovo Yoga Book 9 (13IRU8), this can be a deal breaker for many of us. Thanks to the Lenovo Vantage app you can choose between different performance presets, many Audio modes, you can set Eye Care mode, etc. The Lenovo Yoga 9 User Center is the main event when it comes to software tweaks. This is a visual tutorial that can show you all the possible tricks and features of this machine.

There’s a certain finesse to how Lenovo pulled off the dual-display design on the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i. The laptop is incredibly elegant, and it’s just as capable, whether you’re doing general productivity work or editing a batch of high-resolution images in Lightroom. Its screens are gorgeous as well, and the extras offer a great alternative if interfacing with a virtual keyboard and a virtual trackpad is a little too futuristic for your taste. Beware of that steep price tag, however, and make sure to bring port adapters.

The Lenovo Yoga Book 9i is a stunning device and, if you spend more time touching your notebook’s screen than typing on its keyboard, it might be the productivity king you’ve been waiting for. Two gorgeous OLED panels and the origami-style folding stand make for the most flexible of 2-in-1 designs. Lenovo has clearly put a lot of thought into making the dual-screen concept as practical as possible. By including a physical keyboard in the box, it flat-out acknowledges that typing on glass doesn’t suit everyone and is not a great experience. While the Bluetooth keyboard probably drives up the price, it in turn delivers a notebook that offers the best of both worlds. That said, considering the price tag, you’d need to have a use case where the dual-screen configuration offers a significant benefit to your workflow. You could pick up a decent notebook and a decent tablet for less, but the Yoga Book 9i could be your 2-in-1 to rule them all.

The Lenovo Yoga Book 9i is a very interesting and compelling new form-factor for situational use-cases. While it can be used in a more clamshell orientation and without all of the accessories it really shines when users can find their ideal posture and accessory set up. The Yoga Book 9i doesn’t beat an all-around traditional clamshell laptop or even a 2-in-1 detachable, but it improves upon the 2-in-1 convertible concept while also offering additional use-cases for niche experiences. As I mentioned, day traders, engineers, artists, C-suite level executives who deal in docs all day, lawyers, and others may find the trade off in price and traditional convenience worth a hyper-focused experience.

Two screens at the same time. That is the whole appeal of Lenovo’s Yoga Book 9i in a nutshell, as best as I can tell after using the device for a couple of weeks. The $1,999.99 9i, for the uninitiated, is a dual-screen clamshell touchscreen laptop that eschews the traditional keyboard deck for a second touchscreen on the bottom half. Lenovo has been experimenting with nontraditional laptop designs for years, from foldable ThinkPads to twisting laptops with E Ink displays and virtual keyboards, and it hasn’t always gone well. High prices, awkward software, and unconventional designs have kept them from really being anything you should buy. The Yoga Book 9i is not without some of those compromises. Still, it is Lenovo’s best execution of the dual-screen form factor and doesn’t feel nearly as much like an experiment as Lenovo’s earlier ideas.

I can appreciate the approach Lenovo took here with the Yoga Book 9i, and I think they really made a quality and interesting product. Thing is, this device is made for a limited clientele, so make sure you really want the two displays instead of a regular design with a built-in keyboard, as the format comes with some usability compromises that you have to accept and get used to.

Two grand is pricey for an ultraportable, but the Yoga Book 9i is no mere ultraportable (perhaps why it sold out at Lenovo.com during our work on this review). Once you learn its myriad ways to work—and perhaps adjust your workstyle to rely on the real keyboard and mouse more often than the virtual inputs—it's a fantastic alternative to carrying a laptop plus an external second screen. Dual-screen designs have been tried before. Finally one has succeeded, and that's easily worth Editors' Choice recognition.

The Yoga Book 9i is a successful experiment in dual-screen PC design that raises the bar for Lenovo’s competitors. Its slim profile, 360° hinge and attractive OLED screens are well-suited for both touch input and use with the included stylus. This versatility is a key strength, especially when combined with a great webcam, solid microphones and impressive speakers. However, the wireless keyboard and reliance on a virtual keyboard make the Yoga Book 9i frustrating to use as a regular laptop. Its high price tag almost means most people will be better off with something more tradition. But if you’re a frequent flier who’d like the flexibility of an extra monitor, or simply enjoy using a stylus, the Yoga Book 9i could be the right kind of weird for you.

If you’ve been dying for more screen real estate while on the go, then rest assured that dual-screen laptops are finally here in a refined and polished package. On the outside, the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i looks like a typical laptop, albeit a stylish one, built with sturdy aluminum and sporting a beautiful matte teal finish that is surprisingly good at resisting fingerprints. It’s only when you open it that you realize Lenovo has rewritten the rulebook for how you can station your screens. The Lenovo Yoga Book 9i sports two 13.3-inch 2.8K OLED screens that deliver decent color and contrast in a taller 16:10 aspect ratio. It’s a lot of screen space that runs with an average 60Hz refresh rate, but it really spreads its wings when you deploy it with the included folio stand.

The $2,000 Yoga Book 9i is available to preorder right now. Overall, it's a solid laptop, but one that you'll likely find yourself having to do a lot of mental gymnastics in order to use it without any of the traditional input methods. Lenovo took a chance with the Yoga Book 9i by not only building something that goes against what everyone thinks a laptop should be due to complacency but by actually selling it to customers. As I said earlier, it sure feels like something from the future. But that also means it feels very much like a first-generation product with some drawbacks. If you're someone who loves using new tech that's not fully baked, and you're in the market for a new laptop, then the Yoga Book 9i is worth considering. Otherwise, I'd wait a few generations for Lenovo, or another company for that matter, to work out the kinks of a dual-screen -- and only-screen -- laptop.

Price aside, the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i comes with my strongest recommendation for those who want a simple and portable dual-screen setup

Overall, this is an amazing machine to work with, especially if you have a multi-window workflow. From editing documents to research to task management, the utility that a second screen adds is almost priceless. The fact that you can use this as a normal laptop as well is just icing on the cake. But the overall package here is extraordinary. Lenovo didn't just slap together a couple of screens and push it out to the market. It put a lot of thought into how the laptop would need to be used, whether you're sitting in a cramped press room or airplane seat, or you have the ability to spread out at a coffee shop. It's the level of polish here that's significant.

To get the most out of the Yoga Book 9i, you’ll need to carry around a few extra components. But that’s OK, because they work well and create a laptop that can work as well traditionally as it does in dual-screen mode. There are tons of different utilities to get the most out of the displays, and for the most part, they work well. Only a few glitches mar the experience. It’s expensive, obviously, as many more experimental designs tend to be. So, if you’re actually considering buying this unique laptop, you’ll need to decide if improved multitasking is really worth the extra money. Owning a piece of tech this unique is fun at first, but once the shine wears off, the dual-screen multitasking is this laptop’s strongest value proposition.

We’ve seen several iterations of dual screen laptops over the years, each with significant compromises or crazy price tags, but Lenovo has gotten it right. This is a slim and lightweight 13.3” laptop with an Intel Core i7 CPU, ample RAM and storage, a 5MP webcam and 2 identical 13.3” OLED displays supporting pen and touch. It has 360 degree hinges and can be used with the hardware keyboard resting on the lower display or placed anywhere on the desk you like. For those who normally need a portable or desktop secondary monitor, the Yoga Book 9i might be ideal. The laptop comes with a very stable folding stand (portrait and landscape modes supported), Lenovo Bluetooth mouse and keyboard and pen.

The Lenovo Yoga Book 9i (2024) shows that while dual-screen designs are still outside the mainstream, the right design does a lot to move it from gimmick to "gimme, gimme!" The twin OLED panels look excellent, the device feels comfortable, and the performance is potent enough to make this your daily driver. Sure, it has some quirks, like a bundle of accessories you'll need to tote along, a digital-only touchpad, and a spartan selection of ports. Still, anyone buying a dual- or folding-screen laptop will face similar challenges. If you're in the market for one of these all-screen devices, you could do much worse than the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i (2024). The two-screen setup avoids the pitfalls of foldables, and while the battery life isn't lengthy, that was a given with two high-res displays. For now, the Asus Zenbook Duo (UX8406) remains our Editors’ Choice award holder purely on performance, but Asus had better watch out: Lenovo's coming for that top spot.

The Lenovo Yoga Book 9i is a beauty, from its sleek aesthetics to its gorgeous OLED screens. Plus, the unique setup not only offers it up as a conversation piece, but adds much more screen real estate than the typical laptop. Of course, it’s pricey and comes with limited ports, but who among us is perfect.

Based on my initial hands-on testing, the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i solidifies its position as a standout convertible laptop. It seamlessly blends sleek design with exceptional performance and remarkable versatility. Boasting impressive specifications, stunning dual OLED displays, and a surprisingly comfortable virtual keyboard, the Yoga Book 9i caters to both productivity and entertainment needs. The included physical keyboard provides a familiar typing experience, while the premium audio system elevates multimedia enjoyment. Whether you're a professional seeking a reliable workhorse or a creative requiring a versatile companion for light video editing, the Yoga Book 9i delivers on all fronts. It is an excellent choice for users who prioritize performance, portability, and a unique dual-display design. It will be interesting to see how these initial impressions hold up in our long-term testing.

The Lenovo Yoga Book 9i is a dual-display work of art. With the included folio stand, the laptop can be propped up in landscape mode to create the best portable workstation I’ve ever had. With such easy app-juggling, my productivity levels were out of this world. It's like a two-monitor desktop setup you can carry in your hand. I often had Spotify and my Pomodoro timer open on the bottom half while I was working in Google Docs on the top half. And if I had articles to read, I’d flip the laptop to book mode. There’s a virtual keyboard and trackpad you can use, too. But to keep your screens smudge free, the Yoga Book 9i ships with a detachable keyboard, a mouse, and a Gen-3 Digital Pen. With these surprisingly premium accessories, I didn’t miss the traditional laptop experience at all.

The Lenovo Yoga Book 9i is a great machine. It delivers multiple monitors on the go, and it does so with a smart, thoughtful design. Lenovo has nailed the execution of what a machine like this can be with current hardware. I took this laptop on a trip and loved being able to set up multiple monitors at any table I could find. The screens are beautiful, and the total package is very flexible. The price is very reasonable at $1,999, too – yes, it’s more expensive than the average laptop, but you’re getting twice as many OLED displays. This laptop nails the execution of what a laptop with this form factor can be. It isn’t for everyone: Some people will want thicker workstations or gaming laptops that can deliver higher performance under load. Many people will prefer a classic clamshell laptop design where the bottom of the laptop is a physical keyboard you don’t have to attach.

If none of that matters to you and you're cool with living with the Yoga Book 9i's quirky design, I say go for it. It's an immensely helpful tool to have in your arsenal, and it pushes the boundaries of what it means to be a laptop just enough that it doesn't lose touch with its functionality.

The Lenovo Yoga Book 9i 9th Gen (2024) takes what the 2023 version introduced and rearranges things to remain a compelling choice for those looking for something out of the ordinary. After all, its only competitor in the dual-touchscreen laptop game is the aforementioned ASUS ZenBook Duo. The ASUS unit does offer a full-size Bluetooth keyboard with trackpad, HDMI port and a built-in kickstand, a pair of 14-inch touchscreens (compared to the Yoga Book's 13-inch units), and a more powerful Intel Ultra Core 9 processor, all for a starting price of $1,499.99. Meanwhile, the Yoga Book 9i 9th Gen (2024) starts at $1,980 with Windows 11 Home, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, and no productivity software installed. It's quite the pricey proposition, for sure, especially with the ZenBook Duo right there for around $500 with more versatility.
