Leica style. Huawei relies entirely on the camera in the P8’s successor, and once again sets up an impressive overall package. The new showcase smartphone is even higher quality and the battery is also larger. However, there is still room for improvement. Update: firmware B391 adds a moments feature to the camera app.

Even though it was announced in the first half of this year, Huawei P9 has all it takes to be among the best offers on the market. The Chinese manufacturer is right behind Apple and Samsung, and each new smartphone they come up with is bound to trigger our interest. Huawei P9 has a 5.2-inch Full HD display which is more than enough for good image detail. Additionally, we did not record harmful pulsations which means that working with this device will not cause eye fatigue. What is also impressive is the battery performance in all of our durability tests.

The Huawei P9 doesn’t stand out amongst the crowd, even with its Leica cameras. Rather, it stands with the crowd of mid-range devices asking for you to maybe pick it as your next device. Yes, the Huawei P9 is worth a look at. No, it doesn’t offer something more the competition isn’t offering too.

I like that there are two models, though the only difference, bar size, is to do with RAM and storage. I also like the effort, attention and innovative nature of the camera aboard both these handsets, and the fact that Huawei has kept the imaging the same on both models (take note, Apple).

So there you have it, these are the differences between the iPhone 7 Plus and Huawei P9/P9 Plus. Personally for me, I'm still a big fan of the P9 cameras, although I still have not tested the iPhone 7 series yet, but I was impressed by Apple's new software nonetheless, but what about you? Let's discuss. Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more comparisons at Technave.com!

Huawei had us impressed with the Nexus 6P last year and now with its official flagship – the Huawei P9 – it has done it again. The Huawei P9 offers a complete package in terms of excellent looks, slim form factor, great camera, good battery life, fast finger print scanner, fast performance and more. Lack of quick charging and below average on board speakers are the only shortcomings that stand out.

Huawei’s P9 is one of the rare smartphones that use Leica branding, which is well known in the photography ecosystem. Leica has lent its insight and imaging algorithm to the phone’s cameras, but not made the hardware. The other big highlight of P9’s camera is that it comes with dual 12-megapixel lenses.

Aiming for the worldwide number one spot in five years’ time, the company certainly has its work cut out for it and the P9 puts the company on the right track. However, with other smartphone manufactures also tipped to boast dual lenses in future, and Samsung’s innovation on edge-screens starting to pay off, what Huawei will come up with next is the big question.

The Huawei P9 is a perfect example of a smartphone that suggests its not just about the specifications but its how you use what you have. The P9 has possibly the best camera on the market right now and its most definitely the most interesting one since it allows you to be quite creative. The f2.2 aperture seemed inadequate to me but in reality, its more than needed and bests some phones with larger apertures too. The rest of the phone too is top notch and if I would like to change one thing on the phone, it would be the single SIM slot.

The Huawei P9 is a good phone with great looks and an excellent camera, but it isn't quite the all-rounder that other current flagship phones have proven to be. The display and software aren't even among the best we've seen, and the phone is indeed a bit overpriced in our opinion at Rs. 39,999. Additionally, despite the camera being fantastic, it isn't without its shortcomings; there's no optical image stabilisation or 4K video capability.

In fact, given the sheer all-round quality of the P9 it's a fantastically capable phone for the money. It's tough to argue with an attractive, capable smartphone that undercuts much of its competition on price, yet still packs in a superb camera, good performance and a whole heap of premium features. This is a huge leap forward for Huawei, and on this evidence the other big-name manufacturers should start to worry – it's not perfect, but the P9 is a force to be reckoned with.

The P9 is the best Huawei phone to date. The Leica-branded camera may not fully deliver on Huawei’s claims, but it’s still as good, if not better than, most competing phone cameras. The P9 doesn’t quite match competing handsets, such as the Galaxy S7, when it comes to its other hardware, but with a £449 starting price it’s over £100 cheaper than its key rivals. When the Huawei P9 was initially released a few months ago, some complained about its surprisingly high price tag. However, the device can currently be purchased for just under $500, which is a good deal considering the current prices for its competitors. The Galaxy S7 and HTC 10 are both $100 more expensive, while the inferior LG G5 is a similar price. It’s no budget flagship like the OnePlus 3, but the Huawei P9 has enough standout features -- the camera and ergonomic design in particular -- to justify a marginal premium price tag.

The conflict becomes even more confusing with the OnePlus 3 wading into the battle of the 2016 Android handsets. The Samsung Galaxy S7 (along with the S7 Edge) sat atop the Android tree for a long time, but it's becoming increasingly crowded down below. You can't deny the hard work that HTC, Huawei and OnePlus have put in and, while we feel that the LG G5 lags a little behind, it really is anyone's game as we march into the second half of the year.

We're perhaps more excited about where Huawei goes from here. If it can build on the leap forward it's made with the P9, improve its modifications to Andriod (or lose them altogether) and get distribution in the US arranged (at a reasonable price), then the P10 should be one to look out for.

There's a lot to like about the Huawei P9, particularly if you focus on its outstanding camera. The Leica-engineered two-camera setup delivers crisp, detailed shots along with several modes that should please more demanding photographers. The trouble is, Samsung's Galaxy S7 phones sport powerful cameras, too — and those devices have enough battery power to put in a full day's work and play. The P9 does some other things well, including its versatile fingerprint sensor, but its subpar endurance means you should consider Android alternatives before you fork over this kind of money.

The P9 costs £449 SIM free and the P9 Plus is £549 inc VAT, which is very reasonable for this calibre of phone. However, you can pick it up for much less if you shop around and buy it in tandem with a PAYG or monthly SIM deal. For instance, pick up a Huawei P9 from O2 along with the PAYG deal of your choice, and the 32GB model is only £370 – that's £110 cheaper than our current favourite phone, the Huawei-built Nexus 6P, and dramatically cheaper than the other high-end smartphone rivals.

My only problems were with the power management and the fact that some of the icons got adjusted when I changed the themes. I also found, as you’ll probably have seen in the video above, that sometimes I kept missing the buttons within the camera interface. There’s certainly a lot to like about the Huawei P9. It’s the best looking phone Huawei has ever made and the attention to detail in its build is commendable. The Huawei P9 is not on the same level as the Samsung Galaxy S7, HTC 10 or LG G5, but it’s pretty close. The one thing that makes the P9 so attractive is that it has the refinement of a flagship smartphone without the hefty cost. Buying the phone in Europe should only set you back €450, significantly less than what you’d pay if you purchased the previously mentioned flagship smartphone.

When comparing the P9 to other flagships, it’s important to remember the £449 price which makes it considerably cheaper than many of its rivals (but not the identically priced Nexus 6P that's also made by Huawei). Overall, we're impressed with the phone: it's well built, feels good and looks good. The cameras aren't the absolute best out there, it doesn't top the charts in game tests and the screen isn't Quad HD, but these minor quibbles are outweighed not only by the price but also because, unlike the Nexus, the P9 lets you stick in a microSD card to expand the storage. If you can afford it, the Galaxy S7 is a better phone overall, but this is a great choice if you can't.

If there's one feature that will convince you to buy Huawei's P9, it's the clever camera. Finally, ‘Magazine Unlock’ brings up a different image every time you see the lockscreen – always making the phone seem fresh, potentially. Though with the speed of fingerprint unlocking via the back sensor, you may never see the images, making the lockscreen itself almost irrelevant. Maybe it will go the way of the app drawer in time? I don’t want to seem too down on the Huawei P9. If this was an Honor device (Huawei’s consumer brand) and put out at £300 then I’d consider it fabulous value for money and a top buy. At £450 (in the UK, including VAT) though, it’s within striking distance of the top tier devices which out-gun it in terms of screen, imaging, speaker, performance, and brand.

At £449, it’s notably more affordable than the likes of Apple’s and Samsung’s flagships, but that pulls it into the firing line of the likes of Sony’s Xperia Z5. As such it’s more a case of whether you want a thin phone or a waterproof one, more megapixels or a dual camera. All in all, Huawei’s new flagship is a good smartphone. Not a ground-breaking one, but a good one nonetheless. Throughout our testing, we did not come across any major, deal-breaking flaws. The UI ran smoothly, the camera worked fine, and the screen, despite its inaccurate color reproduction, got the job done. But at the same time, there doesn’t seem to be anything to make the Huawei P9 stand above the competition. For many people, camera quality is right up there with battery life as one of the most important considerations when choosing a new smartphone. In both regards, the Huawei P9 acquits itself well, and its camera performance in particular is very good indeed. If the camera's your main priority, then the Leica collaboration can be considered a success, and Huawei should be commended for trying to innovate, even if the overall execution of the P9 overall doesn't quite deliver. Huawei’s Emotion UI still proves to be a sticking point, however, and the P9’s general performance isn’t particularly stellar, especially around gaming.

Indeed, no part of the Huawei P9 is bad, but annoyances such as the sometimes frustrating software and somewhat derivative design count against it. And, given that this year’s phone actually gets a £100/€100 price hike over last year’s P8, the fact that the dual-camera star of the show is more Celebrity Big Brother than Ryan Reynolds means it doesn't do enough to challenge the absolute best smartphones out there.

Tout en mieux avec le Plus ? Le nouveau P9 Plus de Huawei n'est pas qu'une version plus grande du P9 standard, l'écran est totalement différent. Le Press Touch est aussi de la partie.

The main difference between Xiaomi MI5S Plus and Huawei P9 Plus is in their hardware, due to Snapdragon 821 processor, it makes Xiaomi MI5S enjoy higher performance than Huawei P9 Plus, but Huawei P9 Plus still performs nice in dual camera. If you are looking for a cheaper but higher performance smartphone, Xiaomi MI5S Plus can be your first choice, but if you are more into better quality, Huawei P9 Plus will not let you down.

I like that there are two models, though the only difference, bar size, is to do with RAM and storage. I also like the effort, attention and innovative nature of the camera aboard both these handsets, and the fact that Huawei has kept the imaging the same on both models (take note, Apple).

Huawei's made a classy-looking phone. The sleek metal and glass design is right up there with Apple and HTC, but it doesn’t really stand out amongst the crowd. The camera is good, but it’s not fantastic. The Leica branding is more of a gimmick, and there’s a lot to take in when you open the app up for the first time. There are some quirks, too, like heavy vignetting. But photos do look good and monochrome shots look great.

If you’re in the market for a sleek, premium phablet with a great dual-camera setup, the Huawei P9 Plus is a great option. The 5.5in SuperAMOLED FHD display is bright and crisp, and shows off the detailed photos taken by the rear-facing dual 12Mp snappers. The processor is strong enough to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy S7, although it doesn’t quite compare in terms of graphical power. However, it’s worth noting that there aren’t huge differences between the P9 Plus and the flagship P9 so depending on what you want from the smartphone, it may be worth taking a look at the £100 cheaper Huawei P9. Otherwise, it’s a decent premium flagship that we’re impressed with.

Like the P9 and the Mate 8, the Huawei P9 Plus has excellent hardware, but I also like the software. It isn’t stock Android and if you want stock Android then you aren’t going to be happy with EMUI. True the UI is different, but it is still Android and you still get access to Google’s services, you can install the myriad of apps from the Play Store, and so on. What isn’t there to like?

It looks the part, is powerful enough to compete with other top-spec phones, and takes fantastic photos - even if those twin sensors can't quite topple Samsung as the king of smartphone cameras. The pressure-sensitive screen is pretty forward-thinking, too. I don't think Android is ready for this kind of tech yet, but it's great to see Huawei giving it a go now - it'll be ready when everyone else catches up.

So P9 or P9 Plus? Well, the Plus offers a slightly larger screen with "Press Touch" technology, plus better battery life and 64GB on-board storage for its £500 asking price (making it about £100 more than the standard P9). Otherwise features are largely similar, with both phones featuring the defining dual camera - which deserves high praise for the most part. Its controls are intuitive, making it easy to fine-tune your shots, the performance is very reliable, while the monochrome sensor is a quirky addition.

The P9 Plus isn’t a resounding success. It has marginally better battery life, more storage and a slightly bigger screen than the regular P9, but at £550 it finds itself comprehensively outgunned by rivals such as the Galaxy S7 or LG G5. The Leica branding and monochrome camera may be a big selling point for some people, but even if that is the case, you’re still better off with the standard P9.

The P9 Plus offers a good impression of Apple's 3D Touch with its pressure-sensitive screen, but we'd advise not getting too excited about it. Its applications are all Huawei's, so even if pressure sensitivity is the future, this is at best a very good tech demo of what's to come. Add in software that many struggle to get on with - much as we've grown accustomed to it - and this feels like a phone to hunt down when some sweet deals are available, not while it sells at full price.

Huawei’s P9 Plus is yet another 5.5-inch smartphone, a previously niche category that’s rapidly expanding in 2016 with the likes of the OnePlus 3 and Moto G4 handsets hitting UK shelves. Good news is, the P9 Plus more than holds its own thanks to the gorgeous design, effective dual-lens camera and impressive battery life, although the software could use a bit of love.

It is a little larger at 15x7.5cm and weights 20grams more. Neither of which you would probably notice unless you have the two units side by side. The P9 is an excellent camera and phone, look back and you will find two reviews of it on this site, however launched at the same time – but not immediately available - is the P9 Plus which was stated to cost £100 more so what exactly does the extra get you.

We liked the Huawei P9 even though it had a few setbacks, so we were already decided on the Huawei P9 Plus - it was going to be likable, too. We knew the P9 Plus will treat us with an AMOLED screen, Press Touch tech, and stereo speakers in exchange for a few extra bucks, so we knew what we were getting into. Of course, we are always in for some surprises and we got a few with the Huawei P9 Plus. While confirming its beautiful design, awesome camera capabilities, snappy processor, great fingerprint scanner, and useful Emotion UI, we found a few novelties we really liked.

The Huawei P9 Plus is an accomplished smartphone. It's got a great feature set, impressive performance and a premium design - trouble is the competition is also excellent. In the past Huawei's flagship handsets have had a lower price than the likes of Samsung, Apple, LG, Sony and HTC, but the P9 Plus is priced at a similar level. You then have to look to see if it offers a better experience all round than our current best phone in the world, the Galaxy S7 Edge.

The Huawei P9 Plus offers elements above and beyond the regular model and that should give it some additional appeal. This is a fully-packed handset, carrying the novelty of that dual Leica camera on the rear. The larger 5.5-inch display is likely to be popular, but the phone's higher price could be a barrier. With an asking price of €749 (although rumour has it at £549 in the UK) this model sits a little too close in price to some of the established flagships out there.

If a bigger screen with Press Touch and a bigger battery is what you’re looking for then the Huawei P9 Plus might be a good shout. However, it is otherwise very similar to the regular model so isn’t necessarily worth the addition 150 Euro – the main selling point is the camera co-engineered with Leica which you get on the P9. We’ll bring you a full review when we get a review sample.

In a time when the market for wearable tech is ever growing, one’s ownership of a smart bracelet or watch is becoming a more common thing. However, the price is what draws away many users and they ask the fair question of whether the features of these devices are worth the investment. With the new offer combining a smartphone and a smart bracelet, Huawei is trying to make us think twice. The company has put together the stylish and powerful Huawei P9 lite and the smart bracelet.

The "diet" label usually comes with a warning: "does not replace an exercise routine." In similar fashion, the Huawei P9 lite has to do the work, it just can't cut back on the sugar and call it a day. And it does deliver. It has a sweet display, the build quality, chipset and battery life proved quite tasty as well. The camera is good if not great while the software is an acquired taste, which some of you may already have.

So while it might be a low calorie take on the P9, sometimes the skimmed option does everything that you want: which is exactly the point of the P9 Lite. Fair price, fair performance and more than fair design lead the way here, the big difference being the shedding of those dual Leica cameras to the rear.

Commentaire
Huawei:
