Affordability is a key feature of the Honor Pad 8, and the tablet is available for just £229 in the UK and ₹21,999 in India. That's a good value when you consider the size of the screen and the build quality, and while it isn't the fastest in this category, it is well-suited for multimedia. So if you want a budget tablet mainly for streaming videos or browsing, you'll find a lot to like in the Honor Pad 8.

Android tablets aren't as common as they once were, and choices are limited. The Honor Pad 8 provides a big screen, great speakers and long battery life for an attractive price. As long as MicroSD card storage and fast charging are not required, it is definitely one to consider.

The Pad 8 is missing a microSD slot, which you'd find on the bulk of competitors, and that's possibly the largest omission on its spec sheet. The meh battery life and lack of cellular connectivity are easier to swallow on a device that's probably too big to leave the house often, while the chipset's lack of serious oomph doesn't hinder the tablet's use for less demanding applications. At the time of writing, the Honor Pad 8 retails for €350 or just under INR 20K for a 6GB/128GB version or £270 in the UK (albeit for the 4GB/128GB spec). Its price in India makes it competitive in that market, and its sheer size gives it an edge for the right audience. In Europe, it's a touch pricier than similar mid-range offerings, but it could potentially justify the small premium with the list immediately below.

In a word, yes! This is a fantastic tablet for its price, and it punches far above its weight class. The performance, speakers, and display are great, and the software is not too shabby. The only downside is the camera, but the majority of people won’t even use it. This makes it easy to give that aspect a pass. If you’re looking for a great device for both work and play, then I highly recommend that you pick up the Honor Pad 8.

The Honor Pad 8 is a good tablet for specific tasks, like streaming movies or TV or processing work documents. It’s not so good if you need more power though, as it struggles with gaming and its software doesn’t lend itself to quick multitasking.

The Honor Pad 8 is every bit as good as many other Android tablets that came before it, and with reliable battery life, a colour-accurate display and solid build, it does a lot right. However, its foibles are too great to ignore. The lack of HDR and microSD expansion are irksome, but the real deal-breaker here is the same thing that has plagued Android tablets since their inception: Android simply isn’t a patch on iPadOS, and it has a long way to go in order to catch up. Android devotees may be willing to overlook such things – after all, this certainly is a lot of tablet for the money – but for everyone else, there’s little reason not to buy an iPad instead.

This is a pretty good price all things considered as while it has subpar specifications in other departments, it packs upper mid-range specifications for what it’s made for — media consumption. It’s hard to really fault the Honor Pad 8 in any particular way because of its lower price tag, and it’s a lot more budget-friendly than the Honor 70 that launched alongside it. I thought that the Honor 70 was too highly-priced, but I think that the Honor Pad 8 is nearly in the flagship-killer territory with how good it is at what it does. To be clear, not everyone wants a tablet for more than watching movies and TV shows, and you normally have to spend a lot to get a really good screen. That’s because a high-resolution display will normally command higher specifications as well, especially if the user is gaming or doing other intensive tasks. If you want a tablet for working on the go, then skip this device. You won’t really be able to use it for that, and it won’t really get the job done. If however, you’re like a lot of people who just want to watch something good in the evening on the couch or in bed, then you can’t go wrong with this tablet. It’s cost-effective and looks good, and that’s all it really needs. You could spend a bit more to get an iPad, but why bother? The iPad (2021) for example is the closest, but it still costs €70 more with a smaller screen and a more outdated design. The bigger screen really matters here.

That would depend on what you want to use it for. Are you looking for a gaming tablet? Well, you'll find mobile games work just fine on the Pad 8, so if Call of Duty Mobile is your bag, then you'll get along with the Pad 8 just fine. If you're on a productivity drive, then the Pad 8 represents a fantastic option, especially considering its low price point. With its bigger screen, you'll be able to work away on this tablet, making it brilliant if you're traveling and need to do some work on the plane or train. In all, I think the Honor Pad 8 is a lovely slate, with a responsive screen, a sumptuous display, and a fantastic battery life that will see even the most hardcore workaholic through two days, and then some.

The Honor Tab 8 isn’t posing as an iPad rival, and it’s not a jack-of-all-trades tablet. It’s a big screen that’s great for streaming movies or reading ebooks, and the long-lasting battery and slender build make it perfect for these tasks. However, thanks to its weak processor and software that’s clearly not optimized for the tablet experience, it’s not a productivity or gaming powerhouse.

The Honor Pad 8 is a good tablet in all the key areas, and you’re likely to get hours and hours of entertainment if you choose to buy it. The screen, while not perfectly sharp nor offering OLED levels of contrast, is still large and colourful, with an ideal aspect ratio for watching widescreen content. As for audio, it’s got a good set of speakers when playing aloud but the lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack is a significant miss. Performance standards are good for a tablet of this price, and I didn’t experience the kind of stuttering or lag that does afflict some similarly-priced tablets, while the battery was long-lasting and relatively fast-charging too. This is a great all-round tablet for the price, and would be a good buy as long as you’ve got a pair of Bluetooth headphones.

It wins on design and impresses for its sheer size, given the price, with a decent battery life showing to boot. If you want the biggest screen around for your cash, the Honor Pad 8 fits the bill. Sadly it falls down in some areas. The cameras really are nothing to write home about, and while performance is decent enough once you’re in an app, the homescreen experience is rather chuggy. That said, there’s still plenty to like, so we’re inclined to forgive its lack of photographic prowess: few similarly-priced rivals can claim to be much better, after all.

If you’re open to using Apple products, it’s difficult to recommend the Honor Pad 9 when the 9th generation iPad can be picked up for just £19 more. The iPad’s performance is stronger across the board, and it makes for a better laptop replacement, with Apple’s superior tablet software and accessories offering a level of flexibility that Honor can’t match here. As far as big-screened Android tablets go, however, the Honor Pad 9 is near enough without equal. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset delivers strong improvements to performance, the display is crisp and colour-accurate, and battery life, while a slight step down, isn’t bad enough to knock the Honor Pad 9 out of the running. If your budget doesn’t stretch to the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 or the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, the Honor Pad 9 is a terrific affordable alternative.

It's not the fanciest tablet in the world, but the Honor Pad 9 has a big, sharp, bright screen and performance befitting a midrange tablet, but at a budget price. It may lack the grunt for pro users, but for casual users and hobbyist creatives, this tablet will offer very good value indeed.

Casual or low-demand content creators (that is, ones who don't require an abundance of post-processing or special effects work), hobbyist artists and people looking for an affordable, eminently portable tablet with a big, bright screen, will find exactly what they want here. If you want to run more demanding creative software, you need to step up to the next price bracket, I'm afraid.

The Honor Pad 9 is a solid choice, and it is priced very well. At Rs 22,999, you get a decently well performing tablet, and along with it a free Bluetooth keyboard that doubles up as a cover for it. But, is the Honor Pad 9 perfect? No, it isn’t. The tablet has no fingerprint scanner, it charges quite slowly, it has a very average camera system, and it doesn’t sport a 3.5mm audio jack. However, despite that, I think the Honor Pad 9 makes for a decent choice because of the overall experience it offers, with a gorgeous display, a fantastic battery backup, and a stable performance.

Honor Pad 9 to zaskakująco dobry tablet w przystępnej cenie.

The HONOR Pad 9 is a great contender to be your next tablet. From having a great display panel to a loud sound system, this is a great investment for those who need a tablet under 20K. The HONOR Pad 9 is priced at 15,999 pesos for just the tablet, but if you’re looking to grab the magnetic keyboard too, it will cost you 17,999 pesos. So, if you just want to game on the go with a large display panel, you can’t go wrong with the HONOR Pad 9.

The Honor Pad 9 is quite reasonably priced with an MSRP of £299.99 or £349.99 with the optional Bluetooth keyboard. At the time of writing, Honor seems to be selling it for just under €300, with the Bluetooth Keyboard and CHOICE Pencil both as free gifts. That sweetens the deal considerably. The Honor Pad 9 doesn't aspire to be a premium device by any means. Still, it delivers well on the basics with a large and high-resolution 120Hz display, a great speaker setup, very decent performance and great build quality. Its display is big and legible, and MagicOS offers powerful multitasking and productivity tools. With the Bluetooth keyboard at its side, we can easily see it as a desktop replacement for many, especially students. The Pad 9 is also not strapped for performance. We definitely enjoyed our time with the Honor Pad 9 and can offer it a hearty recommendation.

If you’re a casual user on a budget, the €349 ($380) Honor Pad 9 offers a whole lot of tablet for the money. It’s got a gorgeous 12.1-inch 2.5K display, a sleek metal design, and enough power with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor and 8GB of RAM to handle everyday tasks and some light gaming. It might not be the ultimate powerhouse, but it delivers a smooth and enjoyable user experience, making it a great choice for those who prioritize a big, beautiful display, a premium look and feel, and long battery life, all at an affordable price point.

The Pad 9 doesn't look or feel like a budget tablet, and that's down to the sleek aluminum chassis and a thin 7mm profile. You also get a large 12.1-inch LCD screen with 120Hz refresh, and it holds up incredibly well for watching movies and TV shows. The onboard sound is decent in its own right, and the large battery ensures you get over six hours of continuous video playback. The software isn't ideal — it's still on Android 13 and will only get one update — but you get a few useful features, and overall, the Pad 9 is still a good value.

Reviewing the Honor Pad 9, a budget Android tablet boasting a crispy 2.5k display, enough gaming grunt to run Genshin Impact and excellent battery life. For a budget under £300 the Honor Pad 9 is certainly a worthy iPad alternative - and one of the best for battery life at this price. Of course, there's a lot of competition as far as affordable tablets go in 2024. The OnePlus Pad, Xiaomi Pad etc are all strong rivals, but the Honor Pad 9 is absolutely worth considering with the current price deal. For one it can handle all of the games you might wanna play, Genshin Impact, PubG etc included. Battery life is another of the highlights of the Honor Pad 9. This Android tablet can stream video for over a dozen hours before it's drained, although there's no bundled adapter and recharging is super slow.

The Honor Pad 9 WiFi is a fantastic budget tablet that offers exceptional value. Not only do you get a keyboard case along with a stylus and charger, the tablet itself has a large and luscious display and sufficient performance for general paperwork. While it certainly isn’t the fastest, lightest or most powerful Android tablet, it offers a well rounded blend of features, performance and additional free kit at a very reasonable price point. The WiFi only version is great for students and those on a tight budget while mobile workers and those who need extra storage will appreciate the 5G capable version that costs just a bit more.

The Honor Pad 9 is an awful lot of tablet for your money. It has a great screen, very respectable performance, and sharp looks. It also adds a few user-friendly interface tweaks to Android. Battery life could be better, the cameras are basic at best, and I’d like Honor to commit to longer-term software updates – but there’s little else like it at this end of the price spectrum. That is, unless you’re looking to shop Apple. Sure, you won’t get nearly as much storage as you will with the Honor, but an 9th-gen iPad 10.2in will only set you back a little more. In my view, Apple’s far greater selection of tablet-optimised apps and games makes up for the smaller screen and last-gen styling.

Should you get the HONOR Pad 9? In all honesty, if you want to get a tablet for multimedia consumption and general tablet use, and you don’t have the budget for a flagship, or don’t feel the need for it… this is a great option. Why? Well, even at its original price tag of €349.90 I’d argue it’s worth it, but at the time of writing this article, it’s available for €314, plus you get a keyboard case I mentioned for free. That’s the promo that HONOR runs through its official HiHONOR website in parts of Europe. That’s a great deal, to say the least. At that price tag, with the accessory, this tablet is very easy to recommend.

The Honor Pad 9 is a solid tablet at a very good price. The major strengths of this slate are the 12.1-inch 120Hz display, which is bright and on par with more expensive models. Then we have the design: the all aluminum frame and back look gorgeous and project the impression of a much more expensive device. The speakers are also pretty nice, and you have the option to get a 12GB or 512GB model for not that much extra. On the flip side, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 is not the most powerful chipset out there. If you plan to swap your laptop and use the Honor Pad 9 for heavy and intensive productivity tasks, you might feel the slate struggle a bit. Then there's the charging, which is rather slow, and finally, no goodies such as a stylus or a cover/Bluetooth keyboard are included. But overall, the Honor Pad 9 is an impressive device for the price and could be the perfect home entertainment tablet for many people.

The Pad 9 is a clear success for Honor, offering a flagship tablet experience for a fraction of its usual price. Its design, display, performance and speakers are all better than you’d expect from such an affordable slate. Even the software, something I’m not usually a fan of on Honor phones, is decent here. However, there’s uncertainty regarding when it’ll get the latest version of Android and how long Honor will provide software support. Even at launch, battery life and charging speeds aren’t as good as I’d expect them to be. Whether you buy this tablet will depend on how important those shortcomings are, but there’s no shortage of similarly-priced alternatives.

The Honor Pad 9 is a great tablet made excellent at this price point. It’s got everything you could possibly need from a budget-friendly Android tablet, while also adding a sizable display with a sharp resolution. It is missing a number of features from more expensive offerings, such as a fingerprint reader and OLED screen technology. And while the performance was perfectly reasonable for basic tasks, the 10th Gen iPad and OnePlus Pad both proved to be faster in our benchmarks. That all said, it’s hard to grumble at the Honor Pad 9 at this price, as it’s cheaper than the competition. If you want a great all-round Android tablet at a reasonable price, it’s hard to find better value. But if you’d like to double check other offerings, then make sure to check out our Best Tablet and Best Cheap Tablet guides.

Honor:
