Avec les Nvidia GeForce MX330 et Nvidia GeForce MX350, les performances 3D sont en légère hausse dans l’entrée de gamme. Même les appareils très compacts bénéficieront de ces gains, parce que ces composants efficients n’ont pas besoin de solution de refroidissement complexe.

À y regarder de plus près cependant, il est vite clair que les GPU, censés être nouveaux, ne le sont pas vraiment. Les deux cartes GeForce sont toujours basées sur l’architecture Pascal, qui avait déjà quelques années au compteur. En gros, la Nvidia GeForce MX330 n’est qu’une Nvidia GeForce MX250 – et cela se confirme au vu des performances. Avec la Nvidia GeForce MX350, le fabricant a dû suivre un chemin légèrement différent ; le seul choix restant était de prendre le GPU plus puissant suivant, la Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 (pour PC portables), et de le brider drastiquement. L’interface mémoire et la consommation maximale ont été ajustées, ce qui a aussi un impact sur les performances. Néanmoins, la Nvidia GeForce MX350 est quand même jusqu’à 30 % plus puissante que la Nvidia GeForce MX330.

Les machines compactes profiteront des gains de performances de ces nouveaux modèles GeForce. Malheureusement, l’architecture Turing plus récente n’est pas de la partie.

Le fait que les modèles ici testés soient purement des cartes graphiques d’entrée de gamme doit être pris en compte au moment de l’achat. Ces deux cartes ne sont pas du tout recommandées pour les jeux récents. Elles convaincront plus avec des jeux anciens, et pourront alors fournir des taux d’image jouables dans la résolution native (1080p) des écrans.
