Redmi K40 racks up over a quarter-million reservations as Xiaomi secures another bona fide smartphone success
Xiaomi must be getting used to smartphone success stories as it seems almost every release from both the main firm and the subsidiary Redmi is met by huge pre-order numbers and massive sales figures. The Xiaomi Mi 11 was a good example of this, as it racked up hundreds of thousands of bookings before its official launch on December 28. Now it seems the same thing is happening to the upcoming Redmi K40 series.
At the time of writing, an astonishing 271,432 people had signed up for the Redmi K40 on the Chinese retail site JD.com. With three days left before the Redmi K40 series is officially launched, that figure might even broach the half-million mark and even go much higher than that. With the smartphone having aggressive pricing tactics applied to it, it appears shoppers in China are expectant of securing a great deal in terms of the price-performance ratio.
With OLED panels, 120 Hz refresh rates, Snapdragon processors (SD 888 for at least one of the Redmi K40 SKUs), and apparently a selfie camera contained in the world’s smallest smartphone punch-hole cut-out, the Redmi K40 and Redmi K40 Pro certainly have a lot going for them. If the price tags end up being on point, that half-million reservation mark will likely soon be crossed.
