Raspberry Pi 4: OmniROM brings Android 11 to the popular single-board computer

In addition to the classic Raspberry Pi OS, owners of the Raspberry Pi 4 have a whole range of alternative operating systems available to them. Ubuntu, Kali Linux, Retropy and Manjaro are just some of the choices to pick from. Now with OmniROM you can also go for a newly released port of the current Android 11, which was published by a senior member of the XDA forum named "maxwen". With OmniROM, users get most of the common Android 11 features. Only screencast, the ability to open a mobile hotspot, and hardware-accelerated video playback do not work at the moment.

This port is quite impressive, because there is actually no native firmware support from the manufacturer that could be used to make Android 11 work on a Raspberry Pi 4. Accordingly, the developers have to bring some creativity to make everything function the way it is supposed to. This makes the range of functions OmniROM already supports all the more remarkable. The ROM can be installed on a classic microSD card as well as on a USB storage device.

Currently, the 4 GB version of the Raspberry Pi 4 is available on Amazon for $59.44, whereas the smaller version with 2 GB RAM is available for only $43.00.
