The Nokia T20 is inexpensive, available with LTE on request, and looks good. Thus, it would be ideal for home schooling, video conferencing or just everyday life at home. But is the first attempt at a Nokia tablet a success? Or should we rather look at more established manufacturers?

Despite a few stumbles along the way, the Nokia T20 is a competent low-cost Android tablet that does a commendable job at keeping pace with Amazon’s Fire equivalent. With a superior OS, premium design and dependable performance, there’s a lot to like for the money – and especially so if you can pick it up at a discount. The T20 isn’t without its problems, however. The restricted sub-HD streaming quality is by far the tablet’s worst offence, and without this, the Nokia T20 would have easily earned a recommendation. Pair this niggle with the mediocre screen and, unless the price happens to be right, the buying dial tips firmly in Amazon’s favour.

Nokia’s T20 is a solid entry in the Android tablet space, provided you can find it for $200 (or less). It doesn’t stand out in any regard, but the combination of sturdy build and strong battery life makes this a good option for anyone who wants an inexpensive device for casual reading and web browsing, or to hand off to a child. If you can only find it at $250, you’ll be better off grabbing one of Amazon’s budget offerings, or spending a little more for a more robust device.

Comparing the Nokia T20 against comparable devices from Amazon, Samsung, and Lenovo, it's clear that this tablet doesn't fall short in most raw specs. Its battery life is superb, its resolution and brightness beat what we'd come to expect from budget tablets. It does at least have the prospect of Android 13 support a year from now, while other budget tablets will remain stuck on 12 for good. Despite all that, it's difficult to get past the L3 Widevine and tinny audio, though the latter I can at least ignore thanks to the headphone jack. Permanently low-resolution video undermines one of the T20's main strengths (its pixel-rich display) and makes other rival offerings more compelling.

At R3 999 the Nokia T20 is a great all-around and affordable Android tablet. Its design is simple, build quality is solid and performance good enough for use as an enterprise, education or entertainment focused device. Added to this is a pure version of Android that should pass muster with most people, with the added bonus of being well supported by HMD and delivering as clean an experience as possible. This is where the T20 tablet really shines, as you may certainly be able to find less expensive devices that are similarly specced, but they do not come with the same promises that HMD has shown capable of delivering on. If you need an affordable Android tablet, the Nokia T20 should be one of your first port of calls. An affordable Android tablet is not hard to find locally, but the lower costs of these devices often come with some caveats. With the Nokia T20, there is none of that concern, with a solid design, build and performance powered by an undistllled version of Android.

Overall, the Nokia T20 tablet is a good 10.4 tablet for both work and play. Details on the display are clear while the zippy performance, 4G LTE connectivity and long lasting battery life makes it a good device to have while on the move. However, at its price tag of RM1099 it's a bit pricey, especially since the 2K display only has a practical resolution of FHD 1080p. Other US reviewers have noted this already, but there's a lot of competition in this price range including the recently revealed Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 10.4 2021 which has a faster Unisoc chipset, similarly sized 10.4-inch FHD display and a side fingerprint sensor but no 4G LTE. Then there's the realme Pad which has similar tech specs as the T20 but doesn't have the 2 years of guaranteed Android updates. Both are priced below the T20's RM1099 but as we mentioned before, each device has its pros and cons.

The Nokia T20 delivers an affordable yet well-built Android tablet experience, managing to be competitively-priced alongside with the main player in this market - Amazon and its Fire tablets. The T20's build gives that quality metal feel, while the display is a great size too, so it's off to a good start. But it's let down by streaming quality that never really lifts itself to be anything more than average - and the sound quality is also tinny - while a lack of graphics power sees it bettered by many mid-range phones. Making a tablet to a price point means something has to be compromised; the appeal here is the clean software and access to Google Play Store, which will be great for anyone wanting to use apps and services on a bigger screen in a way that Amazon doesn't offer. That said, as an entertainment device the Nokia T20 clearly has downsides - the 480p streaming cap being the most notable - which, for some, will be hard to overlook.

The Nokia T20 gets a lot right. It’s built well, offers solid performance for the price, and has a big battery to get you through a full day of use. Unfortunately, the quality of its display pretty much overshadows all of these positive aspects. As such, our top pick for affordable Android tablets remains the Lenovo Tab P11 Plus, offering a superior 11-inch display, immersive speakers, and optional keyboard and stylus accessories for about the same price. If you aren't committed to Android, meanwhile, Apple's entry-level iPad offers a better experience all around for under $100 more.

Nokia has brought a capable Android tablet to market at a competitive price. There are compromises, of course: the middling camera and speaker quality are forgivable, but the sluggish performance and lack of out-of-the-box fast charging might be deal-breakers for some. That said, if your needs are basic, the price might be just right.

The Nokia T20 is HMD Global’s first attempt at a tablet, but it has a big aim. Not only does the Nokia T20 want to bank on demand for tablets, but it also looks to take on rivals like the Realme Pad. While Realme’s first tablet, the Realme Pad, is a perfect device for entertainment, the Nokia T20 can additionally be decent for gaming. And on top of that, the promise of two successive Android upgrades is a deal no one would ideally turn down, especially if it is tablets we are talking about. Yes, the slow-charging battery may be a problem for a few. If you are sold on software updates, a big display with good brightness, clear sound, and a nice entertainment package, the Nokia T20 is an excellent tablet for Rs 15,499. But if you need better performance and even higher speed, the Realme Pad is your tablet.

No. But that’s the answer we’ll give you for almost every Android tablet we look at. Google is just not there yet, but there is hope on the horizon. If Google is serious about Android 12L, that can change the conversation. Android is a wonderful operating system on phones, but the experience doesn’t translate well to larger screens, and it’s a shame it took foldable phones to make Google finally realize that.

The T20 isn’t exactly an aspirational piece of hardware. Performance is fine rather than great; ditto the screen and speakers, which is a pity for anyone hoping to double up the T20 as an entertainment station. There’s also no official stylus or keyboard to grow the tablet’s capabilities, and if you already have an iPhone then choosing an Android tablet means you’ll naturally miss out on all the clever ways that iOS and iPadOS devices work together. Even so, the T20 does everything most businesses need, and at this price it should be a breeze to get the purchase order signed off. It’s well built, and it comes with a promise of two years of OS updates plus an extra year of security updates, so you can expect a reasonable lifespan out of the hardware. In short, for anyone looking to roll out tablets to a mobile or remote workforce, the Nokia T20 is a very persuasive proposition.

Now, it was all but guaranteed, almost from launch, that the Nokia T20 was going to be a great Android tablet. Even without consideration for the updates promised to Android 12 and Android 13. And even without the regular security updates for three years. What HMD Global set out to do with the Nokia T20 is to rewrite what’s possible in the entire industry. Not just in terms of what’s possible for budget tablets. But also what’s possible for pricier products from other companies. And it accomplishes that by nearly matching and, in some cases, outperforming competitors with much more expensive offerings. Whether we’re discussing the admittedly somewhat lackluster cameras or the brilliant 2K display panel, Nokia T20 is a tablet that also meets the company’s secondary goal. Namely, to serve as a tablet the entire family can enjoy. And not just one that’s priced and made for kids. This tablet will unquestionably meet the needs of just about any tablet user. Whether that’s for productivity, education, or entertainment.

The Nokia T20 is HMD Global's first tablet to launch in India, and is positioned in the budget segment where it goes up against the Realme Pad (Review). The Nokia T20 really stands out with its aluminum body and stock Android software experience. It also promises two years of software updates and three years of security updates which gives it a slight edge. During the review period, I found that the big 8,200mAh battery offered very good battery life but charging was slow. Performance is adequate for casual usage but if you are looking at gaming, the Nokia T20 might not be ideal. If you want better performance without spending too much more, the Realme Pad could be a worthy alternative.

Nokia T20 has been purposefully designed, and it reflects on the current landscape of e-learning, thanks to the global pandemic. The Nokia T20 may be a budget tablet but it feels right for the price. The Nokia T20 puts a big focus on design, with a clear and bright screen and a sleek finish that set it above some of its budget rivals. The battery life is also a real winner. That said, it’s only a good tablet if you’re not planning on heavy multi-tasking or big gaming, as performance isn’t quick and responsive. The unimpressive camera and lack of a 15W charger in the box - and a faster speed anyway - are also rather annoying. If you can get past these faults, then you may enjoy the T20 - and it's one of the fewer pure Android tablets on the market right now and could make for a good choice for younger users who don't need something more premium.

Nokia throws in two years of OS upgrades to make sure you get the latest Android software going through to the end of 2023 and also three years of monthly security updates to keep the virtual nasties at bay. While the Nokia T20 won’t exactly wow you, it is a solid tablet that can be used for everything from online shopping to streaming TV shows and making video calls here and there. You can easily share it with the whole family, and even give it to your kids without worrying that they could stumble across inappropriate content for their age thanks to Google’s Kids Space. Those who plan to do work on it throughout the day should steer clear as it doesn’t pack in much in the way of power, but in saying that, if you were to take it out and about you won’t have to worry about the tablet needing a charge because the battery will last for hours on end. The Nokia T20 is a cheap tablet that is practical and reliable, and it’s safe for your kids to use - that’s really the long and short of it.

The Nokia T20 is a cheap and cheerful tablet that seems designed for family use - it comes with easy access to child-friendly and entertainment-focused modes so you can easily execute the common tasks of a tablet. It’s not perfect for students or other productivity users, as there’s no stylus or keyboard accessory and stock Android doesn’t fit perfectly for work uses, but that doesn’t seem to be the market HMD Global is aiming for.

The Nokia T20 is a great-looking and durable device with a sharp screen. It’s being marketed toward families who want the main perks of a tablet, but without paying high-end prices. There’s a lot to like here, but the camera quality and performance require some improvements. The T20 feels very “Nokia” with its durable design and frequent OS and security updates. Coming in at an affordable price, the tablet is packed with stock Android features that will make the device a useful addition to any family without breaking the bank. Just don’t expect top performance or an out-of-this-world camera.

Like the Nokia T10 itself, there isn’t too much here to waffle on about. It is a simple, sturdy tablet that offers great battery life, high-quality streaming and a passable camera for R2 999 for the WiFi-only version, and R3 199 for the extra ability to insert an LTE SIM card. You can pick it up from online retailers like Takealot. While the Nokia T20 has better specifications for about R1 000 more, if your budget is really tight, then you should seriously consider the Nokia T10 if you’re in the market for a tablet. We honestly will be a bit sad to see it go.

Yes, if you want a tablet under Rs 15,000 with LTE connectivity and are okay with an eight-inch display. Ideally, this is a tablet to give to your children for their daily screen time or one that might be useful when travelling with them. As a basic entertainment tablet, the Nokia T10 is good enough. No, if you want a bigger screen and want a tablet that offers more productivity based. If you want a tablet with better performance, you will have to look elsewhere and prepare to spend more. If your budget is strictly limited to under Rs 15,000, then be ready to sacrifice expectations of 4G connectivity and look at options from Redmi, Realme or Oppo.

Like its predecessor, the Nokia T21 is a good choice if you want a tab to browse the internet, watch videos, listen to music or read ebooks. Compared to other devices in the price segment like the Oppo Pad Air, Redmi Pad and Realme Pad, Nokia’s latest entry-level tab has a premium look and feel but the performance is not that great. Those looking for a tab for kids or media consumption can consider the Nokia T21. But if you are looking for a device to multitask or play games, I would recommend taking a look at the likes of the Realme Pad or the Redmi Pad.

The Nokia T21 is an affordable and impressive tablet with a good screen, loud speakers, great battery life, and added features such as a SIM slot, active pen stylus support, and second-screen functionality. However, its slow performance makes it unsuitable for some, especially those wanting a tablet for gaming. Having said that, it is a viable option for those who want a big display for content consumption, studies or office.

The Wifi version of the Nokia T21 is available for a price of Rs 17,999 while the variant that also supports 4G is available for a price of Rs 18,999. So, should you buy this Nokia tablet? If you have the money to spend, you can consider buying the Nokia T21 for streaming video content, business purposes and to perform other low-intensity day-to-day tasks. The tab has a great battery life and the Nokia brand’s reliability backing it. However, if you want a tab for gaming purposes and need a tab with a super smooth and fast performance, you can try looking at other options in the market from brands like Redmi, Motorola, among others.

Nokia is now playing its game in the mid-range or budget segment, be it phones or tablets. The brand recently came up with a lower end mid-range tablet called Nokia T21, which starts at Rs 17,999 and goes up till Rs 18,999 for the 4G LTE variant. The tablet aims to compete with Realme’s Pad X and Oppo’s Pad Air at that price. But does it have enough to go against these tablets or it vanishes away in thin air? Let’s find out in our review of the Nokia T21. The Nokia T21 is a decent performer for video streaming and carrying our light work. If you are a stock android lover, you will like it.

It is a tough time to break into the tablet market, but the Nokia T21 stands a chance of making a dent. With a sustainable design, good screen, long battery life and loud speakers it works well as a couch companion, and for business buyers, it offers second-screen connectivity and a SIM slot. There is a weighty caveat, the T21 is slow to charge and in general use, but if you can get around this and are in the market for a well-rounded budget tablet, it should be one to consider.

The Nokia T21 takes everything we liked about the T20 and improves on some of the areas that we didn’t. It combines a premium-looking design with capable performance for a budget buy, and the battery life is also impressive. The lack of a charger in the box means that speeds will be slow for most users, and the display isn’t as dazzling as the previous generation. Nonetheless, these are minor gripes for what is a very good affordable tablet from Nokia. The problem – for Nokia – is that for roughly same price, the Oppo Pad Air offers better performance and comes with a charger in the box, making it the better buy unless you find it’s more expensive when you read this.

With the T21, Nokia has done what it does best. This is a budget tablet that looks the part and performs reasonably and the ability to finally play video at resolutions above 480p means we finally have a Nokia tablet that’s worthy of a recommendation. It could do with a faster processor and, as a result, performance is mostly identical to last year’s model, notwithstanding the slight improvement in battery life. It’s because of this that the Nokia T21 comes across as more of a do-over than a proper second-gen release. However, as much as I would have preferred Nokia to make improvements across the board, there isn’t much else to complain about with the Nokia T21. If you don’t already own the previous model and you’re searching for something that’s of superior quality to Amazon’s Fire devices, you can’t do much better for £200.

It’s not an iPad, they’re still in another class, but it is a lot cheaper at £239 and boasts some eco credentials for the planet savers out there. Versatile, with a lengthy battery life, this is a strong mid-priced tablet option worth considering.

Commentaire
Nokia:
