At Rs 1,68,000, the Lenovo ThinkBook Plus is an expensive workbook with somewhat useful e-Ink display. In the ultra-notebook segment, the Asus ExpertBook B9 450F (review) offers a lot more at a smaller price, albeit without the secondary screen. The Dell XPS 13 is another capable notebook with excellent design and sleek performance. One might also consider the Mi Notebook 14 Horizon Edition (review), which costs almost a third but delivers a comprehensive package for its price.

The Lenovo ThinkBook Plus is a pretty interesting productivity laptop. It’s not the best but I can see how this would serve people well. The e-ink display is useful, it’s easy to carry around, has USB-C PD charging, the keyboard is comfortable to use, the main display produces punchy colours, and the fingerprint scanner integration is clever.

The ThinkBook Plus ushers in a new category of dual-screen notebooks. Putting a secondary screen on the lid of the ThinkBook Plus has its pros and cons – but I am glad that Lenovo is at least trying to be creative with notebook designs. Lenovo has to figure out how to make the e-Ink screen more productive for consumers like a senior marketing executive who is the target audience for ThinkBook Plus. If Lenovo manages to bring the Kindle app and Gmail support to the secondary e-Ink screen, it would make the ThinkBook Plus a compelling buy. Even without the e-Ink screen, the ThinkBook Plus is still a well-designed Windows 10 notebook with the premium build quality, exceptional keyboard and touchpad, and respectable performance.

While the Lenovo ThinkBook Plus does achieve its goal of being a portable, all-around productivity device, it lacks an integrated graphics for boosting editing and rendering workloads. We also feel that the battery life could have lasted longer and added a garage slot for the Lenovo Precision Pen could have been a good choice. However, its dual displays maximize the user’s productivity. Its main display is also top-notch.

Lenovo has never been a company afraid to incorporate seemingly wacky concepts in the name of consumer functionality. The company has taken what it’s learned from past laptops, refined it and created a dual-screen laptop that’s surprisingly affordable as well as useful. I’m excited to get my hands on the ThinkBook Plus once it comes out.

Overall, then, the ThinkBook Plus is yet another interesting take on the changing landscape of laptops and computing. For the right audience, perhaps for those always in and out of meetings, it's actually a very functional machine.

All in all, it won’t appeal to the same crowd as the previous generation, simply because it’s a much more expensive product with particularities that won’t be worth paying extra for the average user, which I’d reckon would prefer spending that kind of money for a more portable build, better features, and longer battery life.

Even without the E-Ink display, the ThinkBook Plus would be a perfectly respectable mid-range ultraportable. It’s well made, extremely comfortable to type on, and offers decent horsepower without knackering battery life for it.

One thing we didn’t really like is that it only has one USB Type-C port. Overall, the entire port selection is a bit modest (not as modest as the MacBooks, though), as it lacks an RJ-45 connector and an SD card reader, but what frustrates us the most is that the single USB Type-C port is used for charging. So, if you are charging your laptop, or ultimately want to get the maximum performance out of it, you can’t connect an external monitor or an eGPU.

This device signals a broader industry shift toward adaptive form factors that respond to user needs rather than forcing users to adapt to fixed configurations. While foldable displays focus on creating tablet-like experiences, rollable technology addresses the specific challenge of variable workspace requirements in traditional laptop computing.

The Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 is incredible. The rollable display and motor action feel incredibly solid, and I was never worried about them. You get a display that gives you a lot of extra screen real estate at the press of a button, and it all rolls up on the keyboard when you want portability. This is why PCs are awesome — because machines like this can exist for the people who want them. If you want a rollable laptop, this one delivers. Is this the right machine for the average laptop buyer? Of course not — the $3,300 price is both impressive for bleeding-edge first-of-its-kind product and above the average laptop buyer’s price range. Even if you do want to spend this much, you’ll have to consider the trade-offs — like less battery life compared to other Lunar Lake systems — and decide what you value. But it’s an awesome machine, and it works as well as I’d hoped.

Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 comes with a flexible display that can grow to 16.7" from 14. Its pretty freaking cool but there's one problem.

Companies keep trying to find ways to make laptop screens bigger without expanding the size of the laptop itself. We’ve seen and tested our fair share of multi-display bolt-ons, like the Xebec Snap, the Aura Triple Laptop Display, or Lenovo’s separate clip-on concept monitor. When you lay out the long line of failures, Lenovo’s ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable is the best attempt at extended screens yet. If it weren’t for the annoying software and compatibility issues, I would be left with a black hole where the money in my wallet used to be. The only thing that could fill that hole would be the tenuous sense of optimism that the screen or rolling mechanism would continue working for months or years down the road. I could only keep that upbeat attitude going for so long. The thought of my $3,300 laptop breaking is enough to have me roll up on my back with my legs and arms as erect as the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable, like a cockroach about to croak.
