Leaked Huawei Pocket 3 details reveal a unique form factor akin to a foldable iPad Mini

Huawei is expected to launch a new clamshell foldable smartphone this year. The upcoming device is believed to launch as the Huawei Pocket 3, and it will bring a new design. More details have surfaced regarding the phone's aspect ratio which will play an important role in its design.

According to a Weibo post by Digital Chat Station, the phone will have a 6.3-inch inner screen and a 3.5-inch cover screen, a significant departure from the 6.94-inch inner display and 1.15-inch cover screen of the Huawei Pocket 2.

The smaller inner display and larger outer display may be a confusing decision, however, the source also mentions that the inner display has an aspect ratio of 3:2 which points at the device having a form factor much different from its predecessor.

Based on the 3:2 aspect ratio, the upcoming Huawei Pocket 3 is being compared to the iPad Mini which has an identical aspect ratio, thus the Huawei Pocket 3 may actually resemble a foldable iPad Mini (available on Amazon for $483.67). In addition, it is presumed that the Pocket 3 may offer better productivity than Huawei's previous clamshell foldable phones since it will technically unfold into a larger device.

An earlier report said that Huawei's CEO, Richard Yu, describes the upcoming device which is codenamed verde as one others can't think of. The phone has also been reported to feature other breakthrough technologies in the camera and software departments.

There's no launch date for the Huawei Pocket 3 yet, but it is expected to arrive soon considering the Pocket 2 was released in February 2024. Also, we can expect images showing the phone's unique form factor to surface ahead of its launch.
