Test Doogee S100 : Le smartphone ultra-résistant épais comme un parpaing

Le Doogee S100 n’est pas un mauvais smartphone, cependant, il est voué à un usage très spécifique. En effet, l’épaisseur et le poids de l’appareil, 395 grammes, rien que ça, c’est le smartphone le plus lourd jamais testé sur CharlesTech. Cependant, il a bien des atouts, comme sa batterie gigantesque, sa robustesse et son capteur d’empreintes digitales ultra-rapide. Le fait que le smartphone arrive avec un verre trempé en guise de protection est appréciable, un film supplémentaire est disponible, bref, on a tout de dont on a besoin. L’appareil est également certifié IP68 et IP69K, soit les meilleures certifications disponibles, s’il tombe dans la piscine, ça ne sera pas trop un souci !

As with all rugged phones, this has a very specific use case. It is very good at completing tasks where you would be outside, on a building site or in an otherwise dirty or dangerous environment. Dropping it in such areas, assuming you don't lose it in the process, will likely result in absolutely no damage to the device, although I do wonder how the synthetic leather on the back will hold up after prolonged use and exposure to rough environments, if it is anything like modern synthetic leather, it should actually complement its ruggedness. As I have said in previous rugged phone reviews, you can probably forget about using it as a main phone and sticking it in your Bermuda shorts or pant pockets. If you do, however, the ever-present risk of being pantsied by your own phone will haunt you. This is true even for a big guy like myself, it is proper heavy at 376 g. The User-defined key allowed me to map the Camera to it, so we can forgive the lack of a dedicated camera button in this case, and its massive battery is more than enough that anyone can ask for.

Coming on the back of the Doogee V Max and the S100, the S100 Pro sits somewhere between these two products in its specification. Physically it's an identical size as the V Max and packs the same 22000mAh battery in that phone, but the same processor as the S100. The problem with the Helio G99 chip used in the S100 and S100 Pro is that it doesn’t support 5G, and it doesn’t offer the graphical performance of the Dimensity 1080 used in the V Max.

Seuls les vieux jeux peuvent tourner de façon fluide sur ces ordinateurs (S'ils ne sont pas trop gourmands en ressources). Les coeurs à mémoire partagée de cette catégorie ont l'avantage d'être moins chaud et moins gourmand en énergie. Pour le bureau, internet, l'édition de photos, et le montage vidéo ces cartes graphiques n'ont aucune restrictions.

Carte graphique intégrée de milieu de gamme avec 2 clusters. Basée sur l'architecture Valhall.
La plupart des jeux pas trop demandants actuels peuvent tourner de façon fluide. soyez prêts à endurer un rendu graphique assez moche à cause de la basse résolution et des détails au minimum. Par ailleurs ces cartes sont suffisantes pour un travail de bureau et le visionnage de vidéos (pas évident pour la vidéo HD).

SoC octa-core basé sur ARM avec 2x gros cœurs ARM Cortex-A76 et 6x petits cœurs ARM Cortex-A55 économes en énergie. Le tout cadencé à 2,2 GHz. Il intègre un modem LTE Cat-13 (4G) et une carte graphique ARM Mali-G57 MP2. Par rapport à l'ancien Helio G96, le G99 est fabriqué selon le processus plus récent de 6 nm et affiche des fréquences plus élevées.
