Carrizo permettra-t-il à AMD de récupérer les parts de marché qu'Intel lui a pris, et continue de conquérir toujours plus rapidement ? Une chose est certaine : la dernière génération d'APU d'AMD est celle qui pousse le plus loin l'efficience depuis plusieurs années. Le constructeur est parvenu à concevoir les puces graphiques les plus performances sur le secteur du 15 Watts, bien que le Pavilion 17 que nous avons testé soit certainement un peu desservi par sa configuration mémoire perfectible. Niveau processeur, les performances sont largement supérieures à celles des actuels Core i3. Elles restent assez loin de celles des Core i5, mais ces derniers sont vendus bien plus chers. Louons l'intégration d'un décodeur H.265 moderne, qui permet la lecture fluide de vidéos 4K pourtant assez gourmandes, bien que nous l'aurions espéré un peu moins énergivore.

Il nous reste à voir comment les constructeurs d'ordinateurs parviendront à intégrer cette puce dans leurs appareils. Le HP Pavilion 17 l'associe avec succès à un écran Full HD et à une configuration mémoire bicanale, mais certains détails, comme son BIOS mal optimisé (ex : horloge mémoire), viennent gâcher la bonne impression qu'il nous a laissé. Nous aimerions également voir ses performances au sein de machines sans GPU dédié, mais avec des modules mémoires plus rapides, en DDR3-1866 ou en DDR3-2133. Avec un TDP élevé, on peut s'attendre à d'excellents résultats, notamment pour le modèle le plus haut-de-gamme, le FX-8800P.
