L'Apple MacBook Pro 16 M4 Pro réalise encore une fois un carton plein. Le châssis est irréprochable, son écran parfaitement calibré et la partie sonore toujours aussi impressionnante. Pour cette itération 2024, la déclinaison de la puce M Pro ne déçoit pas et l'autonomie est encore une fois poussée bien au-delà des attentes. C'est un sans-faute de la part d'Apple si l'on omet l'absence décevante du wifi 7.

In real life, you can spot this if you are using the machine for 3D rendering, video conversion, compression, decompression, etc. If you don’t care about the performance of these types of loads, both devices feel equally snappy during daily usage. Still, the 16-incher boasts slightly better comfort. The fans are a bit quieter during heavy CPU stress. It took 75 seconds before hearing any noise while Cinebench R23 was running in the background. The 16.2-inch display of our laptop is tied with the optional matte Nano-texture coating. The latter makes the panel a great choice for people who work in a well-lit environment. The screen offers 100% Display P3 coverage and 613 nits of max brightness when it’s not under direct sunlight.

The MacBook Pro 16-inch M4 Pro is an excellent laptop thanks to its vivid display, sensible design, fast performance, comfortable keyboard and epic battery life. While it’s more expensive than the entry-level MacBook Pro and not as powerful as its M4 Max counterpart, you likely won’t feel cheated thanks to everything it offers. The usefulness of Apple Intelligence is still up in the air. Where extended battery life and a large display benefit everyone, you might not use Apple Intelligence features like Writing Tools or the upcoming Image Playground. I won’t completely dismiss Apple Intelligence (or machine learning), but right now, I don’t see it as a selling point for most people—at least not yet. Even if the 14-inch MacBook Pro M4 or 16-inch MacBook Pro M4 Max are more compelling options in terms of price and performance (respectively), I’d still recommend the MacBook Pro 16-inch M4 Pro to anyone who wants a dependable 16-inch MacBook that delivers plenty of power and battery life.

You need the appropriate cables and devices to take advantage of the throughput, but perhaps for you, that’s just the cost of doing business and Thunderbolt 5 is enough to make you get an M4 Pro or Max MacBook Pro.

Again, I still wouldn't recommend it for dedicated gamers, but if you are like me and just dip your toe into gaming occasionally, the M4 Pro has you more than covered, even if you are after modern AAA titles. Unless Windows is a must for you or your budget is $2,000 or less (in which case, let me introduce you to the 14-inch MacBook Pro M4), if you are a demanding power user or content creator, the 16-inch MacBook Pro M4 Pro is an easy recommendation.

Apple:

Ces cartes graphiques de milieu de gamme peuvent faire tourner tout les jeux récents de façon fluide. Les jeux gourmands ne peuvent être joués qu'avec les détails réglés sur moyen.

Apple M4 Pro 20-Core GPU: Adaptateur graphique intégré conçu par Apple et intégré dans le SoC Apple M4 Pro à 14 cœurs. Elle comporte 20 "cœurs" et a accès à au moins 24 Go de mémoire vive LPDDR5x à 273 Go/s, selon la configuration. Ses performances de jeu sont au moins aussi bonnes que celles de l'ordinateur portable GTX 1660 Ti. Lorsque le CPU et le GPU sont fortement sollicités, l'iGPU consomme un peu plus de 30 W selon le logiciel de surveillance.

Apple M4 Max 32-Core GPU: Un adaptateur graphique intégré assez rapide conçu par Apple et intégré dans le SoC Apple M4 Max à 14 cœurs. Elle comporte 32 "cœurs" et a accès à au moins 36 Go de mémoire vive LPDDR5x à 410 Go/s en fonction de la configuration. Ses performances de jeu devraient être aussi bonnes que celles de la RTX 4050 Laptop.

Ces cartes graphiques devraient être capables de faire tourner tout les jeux récents (avec quelques exceptions) en haute résolution avec un bon niveau de détail.

Apple M4 Max 40-Core GPU: Une carte graphique intégrée assez rapide conçue par Apple et intégrée au SoC Apple M4 Max à 16 cœurs. Elle comporte 40 "cœurs" et a accès à au moins 48 Go de mémoire vive LPDDR5x à 546 Go/s en fonction de la configuration. Ses performances de jeu devraient être aussi bonnes que celles de l'ordinateur portable RTX 4070.

M4 Pro (14 cores): Un puissant processeur à architecture ARM (SoC) qui a fait ses débuts en septembre 2024. Il comprend 10 cœurs de processeur performants fonctionnant jusqu'à 4,5 GHz et 4 cœurs efficaces fonctionnant jusqu'à 2,6 GHz. Le GPU M4 à 20 cœurs et au moins 24 Go de mémoire rapide LPDDR5x à 273 Go/s sont également inclus, de même que la prise en charge de l'USB 4 et du Thunderbolt 5. La partie CPU du SoC est à peu près aussi rapide que le M3 Max à 16 cœurs, tandis que l'iGPU est au moins aussi rapide que la GTX 1660 Ti Laptop dans les jeux. Le TDP est de ~75 W.
