The Realme GT 5G came out in March 2021 and is part of our High-End ($400-$599) segment. Let’s see how it did in our array of comprehensive display tests. The Realme GT 5G put in a respectable middle-of-the-pack performance in our Display protocol tests. Although it could be brighter overall for both readability and video, it renders color well and provides smooth scrolling and gaming experiences.

The Realme GT 5G has just average autonomy, providing 52 hours of moderate use. But if you are looking for a powerful device under $600 that charges very fast, the Realme GT 5G will definitely fit the bill. Released in March 2021 and priced so as to land in our High-end ($400-$599) segment, the Realme GT 5G brings with it some very attractive features. Let’s take a look at how it performed in our comprehensive array of battery tests.

While the Realme GT 5G certainly boasts many interesting abilities, audio isn’t one of them. Out of all our playback and recording use cases, the phone can only be considered passable for gaming, thanks to satisfying maximum volume, average spatial results, and a good skill for keeping sonic artifacts to a minimum. Otherwise, its numerous shortcomings prevent it from being a true flagship-killer, at least as far as audio is concerned!

The Realme GT offers good value for money if you go with the base configuration, which is priced at Rs. 37,999. This means that you will only get a glass back, and there won't be the choice of vegan leather. The 12GB RAM variant (Rs. 41,999) falls a bit short in terms of features when compared to the competition. There's no 8K video recording like on the Mi 11X Pro (Review) (from Rs. 39,999) and no IP rating. The iQoo 7 Legend (Review) (from Rs. 39,990) is also a worthy contender, and is a solid performer given its price. Moreover, it features a better camera setup and premium build quality but its smaller battery might not suit some buyers. The Realme GT offers very quick charging and a good overall usage experience, so even at Rs. 41,999, the higher-end variant is an all-rounder.

You’ve probably surely understood the theme of the article by now. The Realme GT feels like a typical phone from Realme, and that’s not really a bad thing. It’s just that there’s nothing really unique about the Realme GT, and that says more about Realme as a company than it does about the phone in specific. The design is nice, the phone feels good to hold in the hand, the display is good but could’ve been brighter, performance is top-notch but the UI has some bloatware, the cameras are average, and the charging is really fast. The Mi 11X Pro is also a good option if you like MIUI and want a 108MP camera. In my opinion, Realme should have priced the Realme GT slightly more aggressively to undercut the competition and we would have had a winner. For now, it’s yet another Realme phone that’s pretty good, but just not great enough to outdo the competition.

This phone has really impressed me. Is it perfect? No. But nothing is, and at this price point, I think the RealMe GT is now one of the best value Android phones on the market. It looks brilliant, it has a gorgeous 120Hz AMOLED display, and it has more than enough power under the hood. For the asking price, just £399.99, you’re getting A LOT of phone. The specs and hardware on show here are close to what you get on Samsung’s Galaxy S21 Ultra, a phone that costs almost 3X as much as the RealMe GT. If you’re in the market for a cheaper-but-equally-powerful phone, the RealMe GT is very easy to love. I like the design of the phone, I like the software (once I’d pruned it down), and I really quite like its camera too. RealMe, I doff my cap to you. The RealMe GT is a great phone at a great price that deserves to be massively popular.

The Realme GT 5G is indeed a flagship killer of present times. That is because smartphones have become a lot more expensive than they were before because of the shortage of components. For a phone that costs Rs 37,999 for the base variant and Rs 41,999 for the Racing Yellow variant, its specifications and features seem justified. The display is good, the performance is top-notch, the camera and battery experience are also great on the GT 5G. I think the trade-off here is reasonable and what you get, in return, is a superfast 5G phone that will not wear out for at least the next two years. But, when you take a look at the phone from every angle and try to justify the price, you will not have a hard time doing that. For Rs 37,999, the Realme GT 5G is one of the fastest phones.

The Realme GT doesn’t redefine the value flagship, but it doesn’t pull any punches either. The phone represents a more mature Realme that doesn’t feel the need to win through cutthroat pricing. The competitive hardware package speaks volumes, and I like that Realme has focused more on the design than gimmicks. Overall, the Realme GT nails the basics and is a strong alternative to the competition. However, the top-end variant with its vegan leather design is the one that truly embodies the spirit of fast, luxurious Grand Touring cars and comes across as the clear winner.

Realme GT is the uncontested performance champ for its price. As the most affordable Snapdragon 888-powered smartphone, the Realme GT delivers an incredible value for money. Plus, its other aspects such as the display, design, and battery life are fairly up to the mark too. Realme wants to redefine affordable flagships with the Realme GT. As such, it becomes a de-facto choice for those looking for a powerful phone in 2021 under a budget. But there’s more to the Realme GT than the sheer power that comes with a flagship-grade chip. It’s got a great Super AMOLED display that supports upto 120Hz refresh rate along with super speedy 65W charging support and a great primary camera, all packed in a lightweight profile.

Realme GT costs 449 euros for the 8/128 GB version and 599 euros for the 12/256 GB version. That is comparable or cheaper than the competition equipped with Snapdragon 888 - here for several dozen euros more we can have Xiaomi Mi 11i (649 euros for the 8/128 GB version) or Asus Zenfone 8 (from 599 euros).

Under the hood, there is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, along with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM. We noticed that the device is good for gaming as it could handle most mid-to-heavy games. The smartphone did not lag at all while multitasking. Realme GT packs a 4,500mAh battery that supports 65W SuperDart Charge fast charging. It can be considered as decent as on a full charge, it lasted around a day. Our usage included clicking pictures, gaming and watching videos, etc. Conclusion: With neat looks and spectacular specifications, including a powerful chipset, impressive camera and leatherback, the realme GT 5G stands out from the crowd. Overall, this smartphone is going to impress a lot of Android users in India.

2021 is shaping up to be a good year for flagship killers, and brands like iQOO, Vivo and Xiaomi have already announced compelling smartphones with top-notch specs in the Rs 30-40K segment. Suffice it to say, buyers are spoilt for choice at the moment and to spice things up even more, Realme recently announced the Realme GT smartphone which, as of writing this review, is the most affordable Snapdragon 888 phone in the market. Realme GT 5G is a true flagship killer smartphone with top-notched specs and performance. It is impressive in most of the departments be it charging or battery backup or software or display (you name it). At half the price of what other smartphone makers are quoting for their flagship phones (Apple, Samsung), Realme GT 5G is surely a must check out phone in the flagship-grade upper mid-range category. Just FYI the phone lacks a metal/aluminium frame, an official IP rating, throttles performance aggressively, and some issues related to cameras such as no OIS, telephone lens.

The Realme GT has the makings of a flagship killer, but it's missing features like an IP rating and wireless charging. It's also 2021, and with expensive 5G processors, brands cannot get too aggressive with pricing. While the Realme GT's price is not exactly “flagship killer”, it will attract buyers who aspire to have a premium smartphone, and will compete with devices like Samsung's Galaxy S20 FE 5G (Review) and iQoo 7 Legend (Review). I cannot wait to put it through its paces and test its gaming capabilities, so stay tuned for the full review.

Realme is definitely breaking the mold with its GT series, at least in terms of design. The feature disparity between the three phones from the lineup also makes some sense and pricing can be justified too. It's kind of odd to see the Explorer Master edition being the most expensive one having a slower Snapdragon 870 chipset than the 888 on the Realme GT 5G, but the bigger and better screen along with the more competent camera setup are some good reasons to hike the price even just a little. What's more, the trio of Realme GT handsets remains competitive price and feature-wise. Can't wait to test the GT Explorer Master and GT Master fair in our usual review routine.

Is this a “flagship killer”. In my opinion no with a caveat as what I need from a “flagship killer” is what I expect from a flagship but fro a fraction of the price. However, I have been blessed with the opportunity to use many flagship phones over the years so my views are somewhat jaded by that. So I posed the question again to my wife and after explaining what the term meant she gave it a more positive appraisal. for most people who are looking for a high performance and generally good all-around smartphone for a fair price, this is a “flagship killer”. it is what the creators of OnePlus were doing with the first few generations of their phones. This phone will certainly tick the boxes for those who are not really that bothered by specs and niche features but do want a good all-around experience and something that just works. The Realme GT 5G does that and then some. There is enough here to interest a phone geek but not enough to keep them I feel (more on that later though).

The Realme GT is a very interesting smartphone which goes way beyond its yellow vegan leather option. It’s the first phone in a while that has truly bridged the gap between flagship and mid-range devices like OnePlus used to do so well. The Realme GT offers much for very little. On the one hand, we get a real flagship, but on the other, we don't need to spend too much money for such a powerful device. Of course, when deciding to buy the realme GT, you have to agree to a few compromises, such as a plastic body, a rather weak camera for a flagship, or a lack of a waterproof case, but these are not critical drawbacks.

The Realme GT is a killer gaming phone, particularly if you want all the power you can get but don’t want an absolutely gigantic mobile. This star performance isn’t just down to the top-tier Snapdragon 888 processor. The punchy OLED screen and stereo speakers all add to the experience. Getting that sort of power at the Realme GT’s price is a real headline-grabber too. However, there are some sacrifices. While the Realme GT’s primary camera is reasonably solid, the secondary ones are not. And it lacks the design pizazz of other Androids with the Snapdragon 888, looking and feeling more like a phone from the £200-300 class — although the so-bright-it-lights-up-a-room yellow vegan leather Realme GT is on hand if you crave something more eye-catching.

The Realme GT is a particularly good smartphone of the rare flagship killer breed. That's what we call the mid-rangers with top-notch chipsets and displays. And the GT model not only impresses with its 120Hz AMOLED and Snapdragon 888 performance, but it also adds stereo speakers and good camera skills in the mix. The Realme GT runs on Android 11 with the latest Realme UI 2.0 launcher, which is as fluid and responsive as OnePlus's Oxygen, and we are fans of both. Finally, with value-adding features like plenty of connectivity options and super-fast charging, it's really impossible not to recommend the Realme GT, not at that bargain price of €399 anyway.

LG Mobile is no more; the next generation of foldables is taking its time getting here; and the brand that phone freaks used to rely on to spice things up, OnePlus, has gone mainstream - with all the compromise that carries. So when I saw that a new smartphone from Realme was about to expand beyond its initial China exclusive to a wider release – a phone powered by top-shelf silicon, with a leather backplate, pioneering charging technology and a price impossible to ignore ... I decided it’s time I re-examine my rule about only covering mobiles that come to the United States. Because phones like the Realme GT? I'm tired of missing out on.

From its striking yellow-colour vegan leather finish, to its impressive performance thanks to Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888 platform, the Realme GT is an impressive alt-flagship - but one that will depend on its eye-catching asking price to lure in a fan base. As we said up top, this Realme has arrived at a time when OnePlus is no longer, well, "being OnePlus" - i.e. delivering flagship devices for considerably less cash. In that sense, then, the GT slots into the space that OnePlus once occupied in its earlier days, a tactic that's as measured as it is a bit cheeky. No, the GT doesn't offer the greatest of cameras, its auto-brightness is shy to activate, and as a brand name it might not yet resonate with the masses. But it's hard to not see the GT's specification for what it is: more powerful than a Motorola equivalent, such as the G100; and more software consistent than a Xiaomi device, such as the Mi 11 Lite.

I'd be happy to shortlist the Realme GT for almost any user looking for a mid-priced Android phone. The headlining features — the fast-refreshing display, the powerful chipset, and the battery system all work beautifully, while the software, 5G compatibility and looks are all suitable enough for most users. Especially if you go for a color other than bright yellow model I tested. The only people who definitely shouldn't look at the GT are camera buffs, as you will only end up disappointed by the Realme's photography. Fortunately, there's the Pixel 4a series for those users, and we’re expecting the Pixel 5a later this summer. While you lose out on high quality cameras with the Realme GT, this is otherwise a great phone for power-hungry mobile gamers, or any user who wishes they could afford the performance, display or charging speeds of our favorite Android phones. Of course, U.S. users will have to look to other devices, but if you can buy the GT, you're unlikely to regret doing so.

While it is unclear if and when the Realme GT is going to be announced in the Indian market, the device doesn’t offer too many things that impress, barring its flagship processor. While the display is about as good as any other phone in the segment, in terms of design and cameras, there are a lot of phones which are better than the Realme GT and that too available at much lower price points. Speaking of which, the Chinese price tag is one of the saving graces for the device. If Realme is to launch the device in India keeping China’s pricing in mind, it can easily make the Realme GT one of the cheapest phones to house the Snapdragon 888 chipset. It remains to be seen if Realme finds it worthwhile to launch a flagship device priced over Rs 30,000 when most of its market share is placed firmly in the budget to mid-range segment.

Realme GT, as a realme flagship for the first year of 2021, uses Snapdragon 888+UFS.3.1+ full-blood version of LPDDR5, 120Hz Super AMOLED screen, realme UI 2.0 and many other configurations to build a high wall of product competitiveness. It is the 888 flagship with the strongest performance in the same price range. It is actually more difficult to choose a flagship product that can match it in the real GT price range. And from the perspective of product strength, Realme GT is likely to become the flagship of the 618 e-commerce promotion this year, re-interpreting the legend of Realme Q2 on Double 11.

Commentaire
Qualcomm Adreno 660:
