The POCO X5 feels like a variant of last year’s POCO X4 Pro, which continues to sell in India. The two devices share many similarities, including the price point, and buying one over the other may depend on individual preferences. The POCO X5 should be your choice if the latest software and higher storage capacity are what you are after.

For RM1099 (6/128GB) and RM1199 (8/256GB), the X5 5G is competitively positioned in the mid-range segment. The combination of the tried-and-tested Snapdragon 695 5G SoC and the gorgeous 120Hz AMOLED panel makes this a solid device while keeping your bank account happy. It's excellent for everyday use, adequate for running popular mobile games and above all, has a long-lasting battery. If your budget is within this price range, the X5 5G is a sound purchase. But one thing you should consider is whether to spend more for the X5 Pro 5G (RM1299). With the higher-end sibling, you'd get a better screen, a faster 67W charging speed, a 108MP main camera, dual stereo speakers and a much faster Snapdragon 778G SoC. That's a lot of upgrades for an additional RM200! Another option is the realme 10 (RM999), which has comparable specs but is RM100 cheaper. However, you do have to settle for a 90Hz AMOLED display and no 5G connectivity.

The Poco X5 is an affordable phone with one stand-out component – a decent AMOLED display. That provision shouldn’t be underestimated, as it makes everyday interaction with the phone feel more premium. However, the phone has little of note to offer elsewhere. Its design is pedestrian, its performance is mediocre, its battery life is solid but unspectacular, and its camera system has all-too-predictable limitations. All in all, the Poco X5 is a noticeably inferior phone to its brother, the Poco X5 Pro 5G, despite not costing all that much less money. Screen aside, it feels like a phone that’s treading water.

POCO X5 is an excellent mid-range phone with a great value for money proposition. The powerful chipset gets you through your everyday tasks with ease and the big 120Hz display offers an immersive and pleasant viewing experience. The big 5000mAh battery offers a solid battery backup and the 33W fast charging support is good enough for a casual user. The 48MP camera takes decent photos for the most times. However, the night photography isn’t the best on this. Overall, the POCO X5 is a solid 5G all-rounder phone for its price and definitely gets a recommendation from me. Meanwhile, if you want more power and better charging speeds, take a look at the Pro version.

The Poco X5 isn't a huge step up from previous Poco mid-rangers, but is a sound purchase if you’re looking for a stunning screen, impressive battery life, and can live with its limitations. Taken together, all the good elements are individually hard to come by for this price.

Xiaomi Poco X5 device doesn’t have that much appealing factors that impressed everyone in the first place. However, if you are considering decent performance, good battery life, and subtle camera results, then you can consider this phone. However, we will also suggest you check out alternatives, you should go with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 for better performance aspect if you are looking for a powerhouse. If you are looking for an alternative option you can check the Xiaomi Poco F4 which will cost a little more but consider a value-for-money smartphone. Even though the Poco F4 was released last year, but still, it’s a better option that you can consider in the meantime. Make sure to compare both devices before making the final call.

The Poco X5 5G is a budget smartphone that tries to provide the experience of a mid-ranger, but it falls short. It’s a fine phone, for sure – especially when you consider the price and that high-end 6.8-inch 120Hz display. If you’re after something primarily for watching videos at a cheap price, this is it. But if you’re looking to squeeze as much performance as you can out of a budget phone, you’d be better off looking elsewhere. Everyday performance and the cameras are what let down the Poco X5. And they’re pretty big deals as far as smartphones are concerned. It’s an alright budget phone with a great display, but you can find better.

To conclude this review, I believe the Poco X5 is an excellent value in the $200 price segment. From a stunning AMOLED display to a reliable Snapdragon 695 chip, and decent cameras overall, it delivers in most aspects a budget smartphone should. It does miss out on a stereo speaker setup while its design could’ve been a bit better as well. But the Poco X5 is still one of those budget phones that I can call an all-around package. Poco X5 is a reliable entry-level phone with a stunning AMOLED screen and a Snapdragon 695 processor. All of that is backed by a 5000mAh battery, which has an excellent screen-on time of roughly 8 hours. There are no stereo speakers, though, and the design feels a little flat. The smartphone is still a good value for the price.

Overall, the Poco X5 delivers a nicely well-rounded package and most of its missteps aren't uncommon for the class. An Android 13 update is likely in the making and video recording in the midrange in the last couple of years has been limited to 1080p (thanks, Qualcomm), though the Poco's shaky 1080p is a bit of letdown of its own. Possibly the most notable shortcoming of the Poco is its single speaker and that should tell you that it's a short and unremarkable cons list. On the other hand, we did enjoy the OLED display that's bright and capable of maintaining 120Hz for use cases some others refuse. And that high refresh rate might be taking a toll on battery life in some instances, but the Poco still manages respectable endurance, while also being quick to charge. The extensive set of small niceties doesn't hurt and the camera system doesn't disappoint in stills either. In summary, the Poco X5 is a solid phone. We'd say it lacks dealbreaking offenses and delivers at least average (but often better than) results in most areas. It may not ignite enthusiasm in any particular way, but that's not a requirement for a recommendation.

The POCO X5 Pro 5G does not come cheap, and the handset is the most-expensive X-series smartphone in India yet. But this shouldn’t come as a surprise to you as prices of the handsets across segments have been increasing lately. The X5 Pro 5G competes against the Realme 10 Pro Plus (review), with which it has a lot in common. However, the Realme smartphone runs Android 13 out of the box, which isn’t the case with the POCO phone. The X5 Pro also lags behind in the camera department, which has a 108MP HM2 primary sensor instead of the latest 108MP HM6 sensor. Having said that, the POCO X5 Pro does a better job than its counterpart in the performance and display departments. The handset also has a good audio setup to go with that beautiful screen. What’s more, the smartphone is more affordable than the Realme 10 Pro Plus. These things make the POCO X5 Pro 5G smartphone a good buy for its price, at least for now. The handset is selling in India at Rs 22,999 for the 6GB RAM variant, while the 8GB RAM option is priced at Rs 24,999.

The Poco X5 is truly an excellent mid-range buy. The 120Hz display is great to use for videos and social media, and the 5000mAh battery will give you two days’ worth of use with ease. There are always sacrifices for phones at this price point, and the X5 makes them with its poor low-light photography and unimpressive speaker. The MIUI OS is also not the most user-friendly, especially with the amount of bloatware. The biggest downfall is that the Poco X4 Pro still trumps this phone in terms of value for money. Nonetheless, you’ll still be getting bang for your buck with the Poco X5 if you want the latest model.

Qualcomm Adreno 619:
