Critiques

Overall, the POCO F6’s performance is the star of the show. You don’t usually get flagship-level processors in mid-range phones, but Xiaomi has pulled it off here. The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is the real deal, offering high-end gaming and multitasking at a price point that stands out from the competition. Of course, Xiaomi had to balance things out—so while they spent big on the processor, other areas like the camera and build materials are a bit more modest. But if performance is your priority, the POCO F6 delivers smooth gameplay and future-proofed tech for just $699. The POCO F6 is available in Black, Green, and Titanium, in an 8GB+256GB variant for the Australian consumer market.

Also, this price bracket can be more competitive than you think. We've not included other great picks like the Nothing Phone (2) (at S$999), which offers unique customisation that tinkerers love HyperOS for. Then, you have the AI-backed rivals with better imaging, equally decent displays, and battery uptime, like the Google Pixel 8a (S$799) and the upcoming OPPO Reno12 Pro (which we've recently tried too). If you don't play video games, you can save even more money with the next closest thing to these Poco phones, the Nothing Phone (2a). In our view, the lack of polish in areas like imaging and audio prevents the Poco F6 and Poco F6 Pro from competing with other midrange phone makers touting fancy AI, fancier backlights, and impressive imaging algorithms.

At £449 the Poco F6 is an interesting device. It comes with more storage and RAM than you’ll ever need, a powerful processor, a decent set of cameras and a screen that is good overall. However, a phone is always more than the sum of its parts, and it is unfortunately the experience of using the F6 that lets it down. HyperOS is a faff, battery life isn’t brilliant and the design is quite generic. For the price, it offers a competent overall package, but if you want a better camera, more battery life or just a little more, you’d be best to look at the mid-range competition.

The Poco F6 is a true flagship killer in every sense. It offers impressive performance, a beautiful display, and decent cameras for its price range. It proves you don’t need to spend Rs 50,000 or above for a flagship-level performance. However, you must contend with the heating issues, plastic build, and bloatware-ridden software. If you can live with these issues, the Poco F6 is the perfect phone for you, and it continues the legacy of the iconic Poco F1. You can also consider phones like the Realme GT 6T, which offer curved screens with LTPO support, better cameras, and a cleaner software experience.

The Poco F6 replaces the Poco X6 Pro as the most powerful device you can get in terms of processor power for under Rs 30,000, and perhaps even Rs 35,000. For gamers on a tight budget, it is an absolute no-brainer as that combination of speedy processor, storage, RAM, display, and very good speakers is capable of handling pretty much any game you throw at it at high settings. Other phones in the segment might be able to beat the Poco F6 in the camera department and bring more premium-looking designs and displays to the table, but in terms of sheer processor performance, the Poco F6 is in a zone of its own. We had called the Poco X6 Pro “a darned monster.” The Poco F6 outdoes even that!

The Poco F6 is a mid-range phone that competes with the likes of the new Realme GT 6T, Vivo V30e, and the Realme 12 Pro+ (Review). There's also the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ (Review), the Nothing Phone 2a (Review), and the Samsung Galaxy A35 (Review). While all of these phones are priced similarly, they do not offer the same performance as the F6. The same story applies across the board regarding battery life. The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ does offer an IP69 rating, whereas the Realme 12 Pro+ gets a usable third telephoto periscope camera, which is unheard of in this price bracket. I'd suggest the Realme 12 Pro+ or the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ if you want a better camera setup. Those looking for a better or unique design should look at the Realme 12 Pro+, the Galaxy A55, or the Nothing Phone 2a.

So, should you buy the Poco F6 smartphone? In my opinion, the smartphone has so much potential to compete in the mid-range segment. However, we can not miss the minor limitations such as bloatware, camera performance, and basic design. On the other hand, it does provide an exceptional performance which swiftly manages tasks and extended gaming without any stutter. I personally enjoyed my experience with Poco F6 and it can give tough competition to other smartphones in the segment such as the Realme GT 6T, Inifnix GT 20 Pro, and others.

However, it has its weak points, including the camera quality in select lighting situations, delayed security patch rollouts, some software bugs, and a significant amount of bloatware, which may not be be a deal breaker, but needs to be addressed.

With the Poco F6, Xiaomi has stuck resolutely to the path it set out with previous models. Everything here is focused on attaining class-leading performance on a budget. On those two fronts, in particular, it’s a resounding success. The Poco F6 is faster than anything else you’ll find for this sort of money, or even £100 more. Meanwhile, it’s received a welcome price cut from the Poco F5. Also praiseworthy is the new 1.5K display, which is sharp, responsive, and colour-accurate. Battery life has taken a bit of a hit as a result though, at least when it comes to sustained or intensive usage. Elsewhere, the same old gripes keep me from an unequivocal recommendation. The design is a similar case of function over form, the camera set-up – while improved – is still well short of its rivals, and Xiaomi’s software leaves much to be desired. However, if your goal is to get the best performance possible for the least amount of money possible (gamers on a budget take note), the Poco F6 resoundingly hits that sweet spot

Poco F6 is priced at Rs 29,999 in India. It may make sense for someone looking for a device with a good battery backup and a beautiful display. The phone is also great for users who want to game on their mobile on a budget. However, the excessive bloatware, heating up and okayish camera, makes the phone harder to recommend.

The Poco F6 may not be the real flagship killer you are looking for, but it gets pretty close and tries to specialize in certain aspects. For instance, the handset offers an excellent viewing experience, good speakers, unmatched performance in the segment, reliable, sustained performance and fast charging. In a way, the Poco F6 seems like a solid multimedia/gaming device on the cheap. Despite the omission of a 3.5mm jack, which many will miss. The absence of a proper proximity sensor may also annoy quite a bit of users. However, the mediocre battery life and okay-ish camera quality keep us from giving the device a higher score. It's just not the all-rounder that would appeal to the masses. As the dust settles, the Poco F6 will become a more appealing handset, but the current price doesn't make it an outright recommendation.

I wouldn’t say that this camera blows any other mid-range camera out of the water. However, that’s not to say that it’s bad. It’s a solid shooter that gives you some pretty nice results. The exposure and contrast can be a bit inconsistent, so that’s something you’ll need to keep in mind. However, the colors come out nicely and the camera produces some nice results in low light. You shouldn’t have any issues using this as your primary camera.

Impressive, right? Poco F6 comes across as slightly less colour-accurate than its Pro variant, but you know that only because there are sample photos to compare. Without the F6 Pro providing context, you'd struggle to see how this is a "non-Pro" variant that costs S$150 less. Also, the pixel-binning on its Sony sensor helps brighten up images where more detail is needed. We did wish it was as consistent as the Poco F6 Pro at shooting, though.

The POCO F6 5G is a top-notch performer when it comes to raw power, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is faster than all the other smartphones currently available in this segment. From its fast CPU processing, smooth gaming, quick 90W charging, high-quality 12-bit AMOLED display, impressive cameras, stereo speakers, and perks from the HyperOS, the POCO F6 5G offers a compressive package all together in its class. With all it has to offer in this budget, the POCO F6 5G offers great value and is among the best picks for performance users, gamers, and users who are seeking a smartphone under ₹30,000. The price starts at ₹29,999 for the base variant i.e. 8 GB RAM and 256 GB which can be grabbed at ₹26,999 using the launch offers and exchange bonus. The POCO F6 brings considerable upgrades over its predecessor, including a brighter AMOLED panel, much better hardware in the form of the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 that's designed for gaming, 90W charging tech, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity, and UFS 4.0 storage modules. POCO somehow managed to cram all these features into a chassis that's lighter than last year, and the all-new 50MP camera at the back takes terrific photos in any situation — and you finally get 4K60 video. The software is a bit annoying at times, but on the whole, the F6 is easily POCO's best device to date, and one of the best mid-range phones you can buy at the moment.

The POCO F6 reaffirms POCO’s knack for delivering fantastic value, blending top-notch performance with a rich feature set at a great price. It’s not just a gaming beast; the POCO F6 shines across the board. The Sony IMX882 primary camera is a big step up, and the 6.67-inch AMOLED display is stunningly vibrant and crisp. Plus, the beefy 5,000 mAh battery easily gets you through a busy day, and the included 120 W charger is a real treat for quick top-ups. Sure, the lack of expandable storage and some bloatware in HyperOS are minor hiccups, but they hardly overshadow the overall package. When POCO exploded onto the smartphone scene in 2018, it redefined value with the iconic POCO F1 (review), setting a new benchmark for the price-to-performance ratio. Since then, the brand hasn’t quite delivered another shocker like the POCO F1.

As with all the Poco phones, the Poco F6 is a great device for performance-centric users, and even for general usage for someone who wants a fast phone with a good display, speakers, and everything. It is a good upgrade to the Poco F5 in almost all aspects, the display, the cameras, charging, software, performance, everything. That being said I wish the cameras were a little better in terms of color processing though and also, the design, as I said, very basic! If you can live up to those shortcomings, this is a competitive device, up for my recommendation, easily. And that’s all for my Poco F6 review.

The Poco F6 blurs the line between the mid-range and flagship phones. But that is not really a new thing for the series, ever since the fan favorite Poco F1 we reviewed almost six years ago, the brand has managed to deliver on the "flagship-killer" formula again and again—even if it had to skip a year or two to get the right balance of performance and price. We were impressed by Poco's execution on the F5, which got 4.5 stars on nextpit's review last year. And while the Poco F6 doesn't pack the same consistent performance in games or excellent battery life, it more than compensates for that in performance, both in general apps and games, especially the latter.

F6 is another mid-range smartphone from POCO that is poised to be a hit. The phone has a lot of potential. It boasts good hardware (plenty of fast memory, a flagship chipset), an interesting design, excellent display, long battery life, and fast charging capabilities. It features a solid camera setup, stereo speakers, and well-optimized software. Will the POCO F6 rise to the pedestal and surpass other devices? It depends on many factors, and it’s hard to say definitively, but we are confident that the Poco F6 is a great phone that will win the hearts of many users. We don’t know the price at the time of writing this review, but it’s unlikely to be higher than $600. So, it’s not a cheap phone, but it’s very powerful with impressive cameras.

The POCO F6 has a suggested retail price of PHP 24,999 for 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. It also offers a variant with 8GB of RAM with 256GB of storage for PHP 21,999. You can even get it for less via early bird offerings. The F6 with 12+512GB is available for PHP 21,199 or PHP 19,999 with a Shopee voucher. As for the lower configuration, it’s available for PHP 18,799, going as low as PHP 17,599 with a Shopee voucher as well. Wrapping up, I’m confident to say that the F6 indeed lived up to POCO’s reputation of offering budget-friendly, high-performing devices. This year’s iteration of the F-series lineup gave us design changes, improvements for performance, and overall value-for-money. While areas to improve in biometric recognition and my own personal software gripes were there, the pros outweigh the cons.

For gamers on a budget, the Poco F6 Pro could be the best phone of 2024, out-performing the competition when it comes to power-to-price ratio. Its stills camera can't best the Google Pixel 8a, though it does capture better low-light video – which is impressive. With an excellent screen, ample storage, and premium build, the F6 Pro marks a brave new world for Poco, going beyond budget-feeling and taking on more premium midrange phones like the OnePlus 12R and Motorola Edge 50 Pro.

The POCO F6 Pro is probably the cheapest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 smartphone you can buy right now. Most of its specs aren’t exactly bleeding edge, but its target market isn’t the people who want to splurge on the absolute best smartphone money can buy. Rather, it’s for customers who are looking for something somewhat high-end at an affordable price, even if it doesn’t have exactly all the bells and whistles. Nothing about this phone will shock and amaze you, but it’s definitely a smooth and reliable daily driver that gets you a lot of bang for your buck. The battery life will get you through the whole day with ease, you won’t experience any lagging with normal usage, the display is great for viewing content, and the camera is good enough in many circumstances. In short, a highly reasonable purchase.

The Poco F6 Pro isn’t advertised as a gaming phone, but perhaps it should be. With a brilliant display, great speakers, ample storage options and a powerful chipset it delivers a truly premium gaming experience at a fraction of the cost of flagship devices. Compared to some of the competition, it’s the cameras that let this device down. This will never be the top choice for avid photo snappers, they’ll be far happier with something like the Pixel 8a. That said, the cameras here are way better than any gaming phone I’ve tried. So it all depends on what you’re comparing it to. Overall, I’ve really enjoyed using the Poco F6 Pro. It’s fast, has a premium look and feel, games like a champ and charges incredibly quickly. The software won’t be to everyone’s taste, but I found it easy to live with. If you’re looking for a powerhouse that doesn’t break the bank, it’s an easy recommendation.

Creating a Flagship Killer isn’t just about shoving the latest and greatest specs into a phone and charging $500 for it. There’s more at play. A true Flagship Killer is great at creating the illusion of using a $1,000 phone. Why are Samsung’s and Apple’s phones so great? Is it because of the specs? Maybe it’s the design? The display? Is it because of the software? No. It’s because of the marriage of all of those elements. People flock to Galaxy phones and iPhones because Samsung and Apple pour a ton of time into creating an overall unified experience. It starts from the moment you put your hand on the phone to the moment you put it down; everything just flows together. A Flagship Killer is able to replicate this feeling by bringing all of its elements together.

At its early-bird price of 500€ (approx. $550), the Poco F6 Pro is one of the best options for those looking for top-notch performance for the money. But the global market for the segment is a bit more competitive in 2024, with the OnePlus 12R, Galaxy S23 FE, and Pixel 8a offering compelling arguments for shoppers. For this season’s duel, Poco brought noticeable improvements in display, design, camera, software support, and charging. While some aspects like secondary cameras and even performance didn’t see big upgrades, there were a few notable downgrades from the previous F5 Pro, most notably wireless charging and dust and water resistance. Unlike last year, we find it a bit harder to recommend the Poco F6 Pro.

Xiaomi created the Poco sub-brand with the goal of offering a value-oriented portfolio of devices with great performance. The F6 Pro stays true to this sentiment. It is a very premium upper-midranger or even "flagship killer" that comes with an attractive price tag and very few practical compromises. Check out our video review to learn ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW about the phone's top features, build and screen quality, battery life, performance, and camera image quality.

As I mentioned in the headline — flagships priced at $1000+ aren’t necessary when there are mid-range options like this. The POCO F6 Pro runs on a top-tier chipset and delivers uncompromising performance. It boasts a fantastic AMOLED display with brightness up to 4000 nits, long battery life, and super-fast charging. The cameras perform excellently in most conditions; if there’s any nitpicking, it might be regarding the zoom, but not everyone prioritizes that. The sound quality is great, there’s plenty of memory, and the design is stylish, with premium materials used in the construction. Indeed, the processor isn’t the absolute latest, and there’s no wireless charging, but does that really matter? POCO continues its tradition of offering users a top-tier phone at a reasonable price.

Possibly, but only if performance, display and charging speeds are the most important things to you. The Poco F6 Pro excels at all three, matching or even surpassing most other mid-range phones in these areas. However, impressive main and selfie cameras are let down by poor supporting lenses, while battery life itself could be better. You’ll also have to contend with Xiaomi’s HyperOS Android skin, which is an acquired taste to say the least. The F6 Pro offers a lot for your money, but it’s not a great all-round phone, making it difficult to recommend to most people.

Reviewing Xiaomi's Poco F6 Pro, an upper mid-range smartphone taking on the Pixel 8a with its Light Fusion camera tech, almost-flagship gaming performance and premium display. The Poco F6 Pro will be hitting the UK soon, from 499 GBP same as Google's handset. I've been using it as my phone for about a week now so here's my verdict! Yes, in some ways the Xiaomi Poco F6 Pro is as good or better than the Pixel 8a and many other mid-range phones. That 1440p screen is beautifully sharp, with Dolby Vision and HDR10 support. Gamers will enjoy blazing through Genshin Impact and other quality titles, with Xiaomi's HyperOS gaming mode to help out. And the Poco F6 Pro's camera setup is also good, as long as you don't mind boosted photos with richer tones. You don't get a telephoto lens, but that quibble aside, you'll capture good looking pics and up to 8K video.

Comparing Xiaomi's Poco F6 5G vs the Poco F6 Pro, to see how these mid-range smartphones compare for camera capabilities, gaming prowess and specs. In the UK, the regular model costs from 399 GBP and the Pro starts at 499, with early bird offers. The Poco F6 pair are powerful enough to run games like Genshin Impact and PubG on maxed out settings, despite their different chipsets.

Now that we’ve talk about the technicalities of the POCO F6 Pro, let us now hop on to its pricing. This device is available in three different variants; 12GB+256 GB which is priced at PHP23,699; 12GB+512GB which is priced at PHP25,399; and the 16G+1TB for PHP29,999. Overall, the POCO F6 Pro stands out as a highly competitive phone. It may not have the absolute best camera, but it makes up for it with the latest Snapdragon chipset (as of writing) and the option for a 1TB storage capacity with 16GB of RAM. I’m really impressed by its amazing screen too. Plus, the fact that you can get a version with such extensive storage and RAM is uncommon in smartphones. Despite its flaws like the camera struggling in low light and its slightly heavy build, it’s still a great deal. POCO seems to be offering top-notch features without breaking the bank. I’m eagerly anticipating what they come up with next!

Honestly, it is hard to find any serious faults with the Poco F6 Pro. Sure, we would have loved to see a better ingress protection rating and perhaps expandable storage. Other than that, however, the Poco F6 Pro is an exquisite device all around. It has a premium build, an excellent display, great speakers and awesome charging speed. The decision to go for last year's premium Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, in particular, has been well placed. The chip still offers amazing performance. Plus, Xiaomi has done a great job with cooling and sustained performance as well. On top of that, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 offers excellent connectivity and flagship features. It should cost a bit less than the current Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 flagship, and those savings are seemingly passed along to the end user. The Poco F6 Pro is an excellent device with few compromises and deserves our full-hearted recommendation.

The price of the POCO F6 Pro has not yet been announced as of writing this review, but the company hints that it will be in the range of $600. POCO continues to be a strong player in the “affordable-yet-flagship” smartphone category and the POCO F6 Pro is a strong testament to this. Flagship level chipset, 16GB of RAM, 1TB of storage, great display, ultra fast charging – it’s everything a gamer would want in a phone that’s only priced at half the usual contenders.

Xiaomi:
