The Mi Notebook Ultra has a lot going for it in terms of features and performance. You get great value for money, even compared to the entry-level Redmibook series which was also launched quite recently. The display and keyboard are the highlights of this device. Battery life is good enough for a work machine too, and the hardware should be more than enough to last for a few years. On the downside, things like the speakers, trackpad, and port selection could still be better. Xiaomi has struck a good balance between cost, features, and performance. This isn't the most portable laptop and it definitely isn't aimed at gamers either, but you should still be able to carry it around every day and get a lot of work done comfortably. It could be a good option for students, self-employed or remote workers, and home users. The Core i7 variant tested here is well worth checking out if you have a budget that can stretch up to Rs. 80,000. The mid-tier variant with its less powerful CPU should also be good enough for most people.

The Mi NoteBook Ultra also outperforms some other expensive ultrabooks while costing a fraction of their price. This is a solid upgrade for those using an older machine or even the Mi NoteBook 14 that came out last year. It's also a no-brainer to spend a little extra and get the Mi NoteBook Ultra or the Mi NoteBook Pro over the RedmiBook 15 Pro that came out not too long ago. The Realme Book (Slim) stands as one of the main competitors in this price range, but there are some noteworthy differences that you might want to consider, such as a smaller display with an unusual aspect ratio and more. That being said, the Mi NoteBook Ultra is indeed the laptop to beat in this price range and I can already see this particular machine making it to a lot of our recommendation lists.

We can say that the Xiaomi Mi NoteBook Ultra is certainly a step forward and not a step backwards in any way. The company has fixed the problem areas such as web camera, backlit keyboard. Additionally, the display experience is quite sweet and the battery complements the usage.

In my initial impressions, I had said that the Mi Notebook Ultra seems like the most complete laptop from Xiaomi till now. I can further confirm that claim. Xiaomi has come up with a near-perfect everyday laptop, which gets most things right. It looks genuinely good, has a great display, delivers consistent performance, offers impressive battery life and above all, provides great value for your money. That’s what the users get on this machine. But, if you look at the larger picture, the Mi Notebook Ultra will also force other laptop makers to up their game. We may see increased competition and better products in the coming months. At the end of the day, the consumers will benefit. In simpler words, the Mi Notebook Ultra could be to the laptop market what the Redmi Note series is to the smartphone market.

The Mi Notebook Ultra comes as a breath of fresh air in the otherwise boring consumer PC segment. That said, Xiaomi's premium laptop justifies the ‘ultra’ moniker. From a 3.2K resolution screen of 90Hz refresh rate and 16:10 aspect ratio to premium build and top-notch specifications, the Mi Notebook Ultra offers consumers a set of features and specifications that no legacy brands do, at least in this segment. It might not be a legacy brand but if you have some trust in Xiaomi, I do not see a reason why this should not be your next laptop.

The Xiaomi Mi NoteBook Ultra is a handy, everyday laptop that gets a lot of things right for those not looking to burden their wallet too much. The 90Hz 3.2K panel is great, especially considering the starting price of Rs 59,999, and the top-end i7 version also is very reasonable at Rs 76,999. While it might not be great for heavy tasks or intensive gaming, pretty much everything else is right on the money. It seems like Xiaomi has again lived up to its mantra of offering the best bang for your buck.

The Mi Notebook Ultra seems like a solid offering, looking to disrupt the market with its aggressive pricing. At first look, it may seem like any other MacBook Pro-wannabe laptop, but the display seems to put it ahead of the competition. Not to forget that the rest of the hardware is pretty solid on paper, too. However, these are just our first impressions after having spent a short while with the Mi Notebook Ultra. Our full review will be out very soon and will include our recommendation about whether you should buy one, in addition to more detailed testing. Stay tuned.

Xiaomi promises 12-hour battery life from the 70Wh battery, and that's something I'll have to test in my full review. Another thing worth mentioning is that you get a full license to Microsoft Office 2019 Home & Student Edition, plus you'll be eligible for an update to Windows 11 when it's released. I'll be running plenty of tests including games, and checking the ergonomics, design, and value-added features of this laptop over the next several days. Do stay tuned for a full review, coming up soon.
