Even though Xiaomi claims that it has built the Mi 10i especially for India, we know it is not a new phone. In an era where pre-launch leaks determine the response that a phone will get after it goes on sale, the Mi 10i clearly lies at a disadvantage. But if you are not among those swayed by the leaks, the Mi 10i offers exciting highlights such as 5G connectivity and a 108MP camera on a strict budget. The Mi 10i’s head-turning color combination should also help you gain your friends’ and peers’ attention.

Smartphones, for many, are not just devices with general use and plain looks. They are a statement. A brand statement. A style statement. While the former are loyalists who stick around with one brand, it is the latter ones who love to experiment. Xiaomi probably has these as their targeted audience while launching Mi 10i. Else why launch four phones under one series? If you are one of those who loves to try new and latest gadgets, Mi 10i is a great choice considering its design and performance. Otherwise too, if you are an Android user and are looking for a smartphone upgrade, Mi 10 is an option worth considering.

The Mi 10i is currently one of the best value-for-money smartphones in the sub-INR25K price segment. We have no second thought in recommending it. Its closest competitor, the Moto G 5G with the same chipset, falls in the same price bracket but lacks in other departments. The OnePlus Nord, on the other hand, features a better processor, clean Oxygen OS, and excellent AMOLED display, but gets a smaller battery and low refresh rate. Plus, it comes with a more expensive price tag of INR24,999 for the base variant.

At a starting price of Rs. 20999, the Mi 10i is an excellent all-rounder smartphone from Xiaomi. The 6.67-inch FHD+ 120Hz LCD adaptive refresh rate screen is good, the 108MP main camera stands out compared to competitors, the Snapdragon 750G offers smooth performance, glass body offers a premium look and it has good battery life with support for fast charging. Some might miss an AMOLED screen, but you have to compromise this for the 120Hz refresh rate that is rarely available in phones in the price range.

The Mi10i from Xiaomi is probably the best mid-range smartphone that you can get in the market right now. It ticks all the boxes and comes with everything that you need from a mid-range smartphone. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G is a really good chipset and when it gets coupled with faster UFS 2.2 Storage and 6/8 GB of RAM the performance on the Mi10i gets boosted. The dual stereo speakers on this smartphone deliver a great sound output which makes it a really good device for media consumption.

Mi 10i is a fine phone, but not without imperfections. Lowlight photography could and should have been better. I would not mind an LCD panel with a 120Hz refresh rate either. The phone does make it up with its near excellent and reliable performance. And let us not forget “It looks quite nice”, something a lot of people consider nowadays when they pick a phone to buy. I’d like to recommend this phone to those who’re looking for a phone with a budget of ₹20,000- ₹25,000. Other smartphones in this category are OnePlus Nord, Moto G 5G, and Realme X3.

Xiaomi is clearly being very aggressive about the premium price band. All three variants of the Mi 10i are priced under Rs. 25,000, and the company clearly has the OnePlus Nord in its sights. On paper, the specifications are highly competitive, and when you start using the Mi 10i, you'll notice lots of convenient features and design touches. There's more than enough power for entertainment and gaming, plus battery life is great.

That Xiaomi has been compelled to populate the 20-25k segment with multiple phones across multiple brand names to provide an answer to the OnePlus Nord, speaks volumes. Xiaomi is behaving no different than Samsung in the sense that both brands are bombarding all segments with as many devices as possible. In a post-COVID world, is this excess really needed? I had ended my Mi 10 review with the question: Will Xiaomi be able to continue its disruption juggernaut in the value flagship segment? It looks like Xiaomi wants to play safe even with its Mi-branded phones, taking advantage of markets where it can sell volumes.

Xiaomi kicks off 2021 with guns blazing. The Mi 10i isn't just competing for the premium mid-range segment, but it delivers a one-two punch to the OnePlus Nord with its loaded spec-sheet and a user experience that, for the most part, delivers exactly what it promises. It certainly helps that the phone is one of the most affordable offerings in the segment.

Expected to compete with the OnePlus Nord and the Samsung Galaxy M51, the Mi 10i has however undercut them significantly in terms of price. It comes with the first 108-megapixel camera at its price point as well as some very good hardware, including a 120 Hz refresh rate display, a big battery with fast charging, and stereo speakers. At its price point, it is very much in a class of its own at the time of writing.

Starting at Rs 20,999, there very little to not like about the Mi 10i. This is because Xiaomi's latest phone not only gets the pricing right but also manages to impress when it comes to what it offers as a complete package. Yes, the design may not be breathtaking and the phone may even get lost in a sea of Xiaomi phones out there, but it will always have its powerful spec sheet to weather the storm and the promise of flagship-level photography with the 108-megapixel primary lens to help undecided buyers make up their minds about the device.

The Mi 10i is a very strong contender to set the bar for the mid-range segment in 2021. It brings a number of "expensive" features to a phone that's priced lower than most of its competitors. Users get a 108MP primary camera which has good performance and a 120Hz IPS-LCD display with very impressive colours. The phone itself is a stunning device thanks to its elegant design. The side-mounted fingerprint sensor works really well and the IP53 rating lends to the notion of durability when it comes to the Mi 10i. You also get a headphone jack on the phone, which is really nice. What doesn't work for the Mi 10i, however, is the display, which has a fairly low peak brightness, and suffers from reflection issues when using outdoors or in places with strong ambient lighting.

If you are looking for an excellent camera at under Rs 25,000, the Mi 10i is the device to consider no doubt. Plus it helps that the phone comes packed with features like a 120Hz rate display, big battery, fast charging, and good performance.

The Mi 10i has a gorgeous design that's backed by reliable internal hardware, a 120Hz LCD screen, 3.5mm jack, stereo sound, and IP53 water resistance. The 108MP camera is a standout addition, and if you can look past the software issues, there is a lot to like here.

The Mi 10i is a capable midrange smartphone and a good value-for-money product. Except its bulky build, there is no other parameter where the Mi 10i seems lacking. One must give it to Xiaomi for an ad-free MIUI 12 experience here: It is free from annoying ads that usually come as part of package in Xiaomi smartphones. Even if there is still some bloatware, the UI is intuitive and offers a lot of personalised options. Nevertheless, being the first smartphone to launch in 2021, the Mi 10i has set the bar high for other midrange smartphones to come.

The Mi 10i is an interesting new option. It feels fresh, and it brings a lot of unique touches to the sub-Rs. 25,000 space. It does seem to have some compelling specifications as well as some useful design touches, but will that be enough to unseat the OnePlus Nord? Do check out our full review, coming up soon, in which we'll have details of the Mi 10i's overall performance, camera quality, battery life, software, ease of use, and much more.

Commentaire
Qualcomm Adreno 619:
