To sum up, the Xiaomi 12T is an all-rounder smartphone with excellent value for money at RM1999. It reminds us of the Xiaomi 9 series that was priced between RM1699-RM1999. In that sense, you can say that Xiaomi always has good flagship options below RM2000. For alternatives, some people might want the Xiaomi 12T Pro over the standard Xiaomi 12T. The former offers advantages like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, a 200MP camera, and 8K video recording. However, the 12T is more than enough for most smartphone users. If you consider camera quality invaluable, go for the Xiaomi 12T Pro (RM2699). Besides that, everything else is the same.

Like other models of the latest lineup, Xiaomi 12T left a very pleasant experience. Compared to its competitors, I would like to emphasize the smartphone’s battery life and fast charging, its beautiful screen and cool camera set. I was also very pleased that even under heavy loads, the smartphone did not heat up and retained the full potential of the system. Among the weaknesses, I can mention a macro camera of questionable quality and a plastic body, which may not seem like a premium choice of materials. But for me personally, these disadvantages are easily offset by all the advantages and virtues that this smartphone offers its users. With its big, beautiful AMOLED screen and punchy, dual stereo speakers, this phone is a fantastic gaming and video-watching device. In addition, all of those creative camera options also make it great for everyone looking to up their Instagram game with some creative shots. That long battery life and super fast 120W charging are more than welcome too. So if you're looking for your next flagship(-ish) phone, but don't wish to spend $1000 or more, the Xiaomi 12T is well worth your consideration. Just check and make sure that it works with your carrier first, especially if you're living in the US.

The Xiaomi 12T is a good all-rounder. It’s powerful, the camera produces nice images during the day and night, and the screen is superior to phone mid-rangers, with more pixels and above-average brightness. While the battery life is not standard-setting, it’s solid, and the charging speed is excellent. It’s just a shame the 12T isn’t actually an upgrade from the old Xiaomi 11T in all respects. Aspects of the 12T’s build are worse, and the macro camera is much worse. You might want to see if you can get that older model for cheap before it disappears entirely. However, I find the 12T easier to recommend than the pricier 12T Pro, as the latter’s upgraded 200-megapixel camera isn’t actually much better than the former’s 108-megapixel one. And while the 12T Pro has a punchier processor, it can overheat when under strain for longer periods, which I haven’t seen happening with the 12T.

The Xiaomi 12T smartphone is a thoughtful choice in the premium mid-range segment as it brings most of the interesting features with lots of additional perks. But it might not get the flagship killer tag, as the Xiaomi 12T Pro smartphone. It depends on what you want. If you are willing to stretch your budget, we would suggest going with the Xiaomi 12T Pro. However, if you are tight on the budget, the Xiaomi 12T is not a bad deal either. On the other hand, if you are looking for an alternative option the Redmi Note 12 Explorer comes out as a well-rounded deal for every user as it brings exceptional features with 200MP camera support. So, definitely take a look at the alternative options to get the best deal.

While it is more expensive than its predecessor, the Xiaomi 12T is still worth your money–especially if your main focus is raw performance and a top-notch display. Other upgrades like OIS on the main camera and a faster charging solution make up for the price premium of the Xiaomi 12T in the Philippines.

Despite a few downgrades especially with the build, the Xiaomi 12T is a decent follow-up to last year’s 11T with its high-resolution display that’s arguably the best in the under Php 30k segment. The processor used is a big upgrade over the Dimensity 1200 used by its predecessor, and upgrades in the camera and charging speeds make the Xiaomi 12T a well-rounded budget flagship phone.

The Xiaomi 12T is a strong mid-ranger with a capable main camera and decent performance, as well as extremely rapid charging. You won’t find a sharper AMOLED display at this end of the market, either. However, the competition is particularly strong in late 2022. The Xiaomi 12T lacks the premium design and clean software of the Pixel 7 and the Motorola Edge 30 Fusion, which makes both rival mid-rangers feel more like flagship phones. With the likes of the OnePlus Nord 2T and the Nothing Phone (1) offering so much for £100 less, Xiaomi’s T-series doesn’t quite seem like the outstanding value it once did.

The Xiaomi 12T exceeded my expectations and can be called an excellent all-arounder at a reasonable price. The Dimensity 8100 Ultra performs admirably, and the big 6.67-inch AMOLED display looks fantastic. The 108Mp main camera, along with a 5,000 mAh battery and a 120W fast charger, is more than enough for everyday use. On the other hand, the plastic frame is underwhelming along with the average selfie camera performance. That being said, if you’re a gamer looking for a large-screen smartphone with stereo speakers, plenty of storage, and plenty of power, the Xiaomi 12T could be the right phone for you.

In the DXOMARK Audio tests, the Xiaomi 12T delivered an excellent performance for its price segment. When compared to all devices tested to date, results were good in recording and on an average level for playback. Overall, the 12T did best for consuming musical content but was not far off for gaming and watching movies. Sound played back through the built-in speakers was almost free of artifacts and offered consistently solid dynamics. It also featured a natural timbre. On the downside, the minimum volume setting was too quiet, and the tonal balance was held back by a weak bass and dull treble. Spatial performance could have been better, too. When used to record sound, the Xiaomi performed best with the memo app but also worked well when using the main and front cameras. Recorded sound files offered good wideness and localizability, as well as good dynamics and a natural tonal balance. Wind noise reduction was effective, too. However, things fell apart at high sound pressure levels, for example when recording concerts, with recording quality dropping significantly across most test attributes.

Compared to the 12T Pro’s starting price of RM2,699 that price gap of RM700 becomes the highlight. If you shell out RM700 more, you get a much better camera for night shots, and better performance for those who want to push their device to the limit, but that’s about it. Whether or not that extra RM700 is worth it, is up to how you use your device. Just don’t buy the 12GB RAM version because 8GB is clearly enough – watch this video to know why.

With the 12T, Xiaomi has managed to deliver flagship performance and cameras at a mid-range price. But patchy battery life and MIUI prevent it from being an easy recommendation.

Compared with devices from the same High-End price range ($400 to $599), the Xiaomi 12T’s global score was above average. The charging score was excellent, but the autonomy was below average, despite a decent on-the-go performance. Efficiency was poor because of the high discharge currents, even though it gets the best segment score in charge up.

The Xiaomi 12T’s display provided a smooth experience in most usages. Color and brightness were uniform, and the screen’s adaptation to light transitions was smooth. The display’s readability, however, was challenged under sunlight conditions, making it difficult to read content. HDR videos also appeared to lack brightness on the screen. Still, the Xiaomi 12T’s display performance was an improvement over its predecessor, the Xiaomi 11T. The 12T’s display provided excellent smoothness, particularly during web browsing and viewing the photo gallery. Our testers saw an improvement over the 11T in color rendering and white-point management. Artifacts on the 12T were well-managed, flicker in particular, and the display’s touch performance was quite good. However, readability on the 12T was not as good as on the 11T, even though the 12T’s score was more than 10 points higher than the 12T Pro version. Xiaomi’s website says the 12T’s display can reach a maximum 900 nits, but we measured brightness going up to 990 nits in sunlight. The 12T’s display tone mapping, however, gave the impression of diminished screen brightness when watching HDR10 videos, compared with the 11T. Overall, the High-end segmented 12T, which is fitted with MediaTek’s Dimensity 8100 Ultra chipset, managed to outperform the Premium-segmented 12T Pro, which is equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ (Gen1) processor. This was also the case last year when the 11T also outperformed the 11T Pro version.

In video mode, the Xiaomi does quite well in low light conditions, with good target exposure and accurate color rendering. Fine detail is very well rendered across all lighting conditions, but some noise tends to be noticeable, especially on moving elements in low light. In bright outdoor light, the camera has a tendency to overexpose, which results in inaccurate colors. To make things worse, white balance is unstable. Like for photo, dynamic range is limited. However, highlight clipping is less pronounced than on some rivals in its class. The video autofocus performs overall very well. It’s stable, with quick reactions and smooth transitions.

The Xiaomi 12T smartphone comes with 5G connectivity at an expected price of $584 (Rs 48,390 in India). The phone carries a 6.67-inches AMOLED display panel with an impressive 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, 68B colors, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The Xiaomi 12T phone renders on the latest Android 12 OS with the MIUI 13 user interface. For the chipset, a 5nm Mediatek Dimensity 8100-Ultra chipset powers the device and can reach up to a max of 4×2.85 GHz clocking speed. The Xiaomi 12T is available in 8GB RAM with 128GB/256GB internal storage without SD card slot support. Besides this, you get a 20MP selfie camera alongside a triple rear camera with a 108MP primary camera with OIS support, 8MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro lens. You can record 4K videos at 30fps from the main camera. For security, the device offers an under-display fingerprint scanner. The smartphone arrives in Black, Silver, and Blue color options. The phone has a Li-Po 5000 mAh battery with 120W fast charging support.

The Xiaomi 12T misses out on the 200MP camera of the 12T Pro, but marries mighty performance with 120W fast charging, an adaptive 120Hz AMOLED screen, and a large 5,000mAh battery. It's an excellent alternative for gamers on a budget, thanks to its Dimensity 8100 Ultra chipset, and despite its more modest camera versus the Pro, hopefully, won't drop the ball with its high-res 108MP sensor.

It's not all sunshine with the Xiaomi 12T, but it's not a €1000 phone either. It has basic splash proofing, and the new 12T has lost the metal frame and the advanced macro camera, which the Xiaomi 11T had. The selfie camera is rather disappointing, too, and not having lossless zoom with a 108MP sensor is a letdown. But at €600 retail price, we think the excelling pick of premium features outweighs the few displeasing aspects we've encountered. And that's why the Xiaomi 12T gets our big thumbs up.
