The Vivo Y52 5G is a budget phone that doesn’t do anything fancy or out of the ordinary. It offers a solid smartphone experience for a low fee, with nothing to note in the way of bells and whistles. Perhaps its most notable attribute is its tidy design, though even that doesn’t really stand out from rival efforts like the Realme 8 5G and the Redmi Note 10 5G. In fact, it’s sorely lacking compared to those phones when it comes to its display, which is stuck with LCD panel technology and a modest 60Hz refresh rate. As a canvas for the usual content it’s perfectly decent, but we’ve come to expect the option of something a little smoother. The Vivo Y52 5G is yet another competent low-cost smartphone with a neat design, excellent stamina, and 5G connectivity. However, it wholly fails to stand out from a very samey crowd, and even falls behind in a couple of key areas. You’re better off with the Poco X3 NFC if 5G isn’t a concern, or the Realme 8 5G if it is.

I like it – good job, vivo. I joked earlier that you could get three of these for an iPhone 13 mini, and it is time that readers realised that phones have a 3-year life (more because of software update limitations), and after that, even the iPhone 13 mini won’t be worth much. While I use a flagship phone, plenty at even half the price meet my needs – a good camera, battery life, and strong signal reception. So for $379, this exceeds all expectations. Add a 2-year warranty and good local support, and it’s a winner.

My conclusion after using the VIVO Y52 5G is that whilst they have made some necessary changes to the Funtouch OS and have a device with a great display and aesthetics, there are some drawbacks that I feel are holding the device back. I feel that the VIVO is trying to be a high end device on a budget but sadly it just feels low end. The cameras whilst ok, do have some drawbacks relating to the quality of the pictures which can make trying to get that insta-famous shot quite hard. The bottom speaker lacks any depth or clarity, the fingerprint sensor is inconsistent in its performance, and I found the whole experience a little disappointing. Would I recommend the VIVO Y52 if you’re after a 5G enabled device without the hefty price tag, to a degree potentially. However, if your looking for extra refinement with the cameras, speakers and of course are willing to shell out a bit more, then I would suggest looking to other alternatives.

The Vivo Y52 5G smartphone is a low-budget phone as it lacked many outstanding features. It might be a good choice if you are looking for a mid-range 5G phone with decent battery life. But Vivo is one of the leading brands and will sell a few thousand units, but there’s a big chance the company will launch this phone once again with renewed specs. If you are looking for an alternative option you can choose the Samsung Galaxy F52 smartphone which will bring better specs for the same price.

ARM Mali-G57 MP2:
