Vivo put most of its R&D budget into conceiving the utmost camera system for its ultra-premium smartphone, and it shows, with the Vivo X60 Pro+ 5G making it into the current top ten in our DXOMARK Camera ranking. But it winds up at the bottom of our Audio ranking with playback severely impaired by the phone’s single speaker design — a decision that’s hard to understand, given the Pro+’s top-tier status within the X60 flagship line. It is also hindered by a lack of timbre balance and consistency, and an excessive dynamic compression. As a recording device, it is heavily hamstrung by a particularly ill-adapted noise-canceling algorithm, too many sonic artifacts, a significant lack of wideness, and a high midrange-focused tonal balance.

The Vivo X60 Pro+ 5G marks the top of the line in the Chinese manufacturer’s X60 flagship smartphone line. Specifications include a 6.56-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with 120 Hz refresh rate, the latest Snapdragon 888 chipset with 12 GB + 3 GB virtual RAM, and a 4200 mAh battery with fast 55W wired charging. The camera has been co-engineered with the legendary optics company Zeiss and packs four sensors on the rear, including a 50 MP main camera, a 48 MP ultra-wide, and two tele-lens modules. The tele options include a 50 mm-equivalent portrait lens and a 125 mm-equivalent periscope-style lens for longer zoom shots.

The Vivo X60 Pro+ somewhat justifies its premium over the X60 Pro, but not entirely. Stereo speakers, an IP rating, and wireless charging are features that should have been present, but aren't. On the flip side, the cameras are better, the SoC is more powerful, and charging is quicker. The X60 Pro+ also has an excellent display, even though it's still only full-HD+, and its build quality and design really help it stand out.

With groundbreaking cameras and a gorgeous design, the Vivo X60 Pro+ holds its own against the best Android phones today. You get the latest internal hardware, versatile cameras with a unique gimbal system for video recording, and refined software. It misses out in a few areas, but if you're primarily looking for a great camera, you will love what the X60 Pro+ has to offer.

Vivo goes in its own direction with the ultra premium Vivo x60 Pro Plus, which pays off when it comes to photography. It’s the unpleasant user experience and the poor availability that cost it a recommendation, though.

Vivo X60 Pro+ retails at Rs 69,990, which makes it the most expensive smartphone of the company. The hardware and camera performance of the smartphone justifies its price tag. Along with that its premium and elegant design and fast charging support works as an added advantage. However, many people will not like the exclusion of stereo speakers, wireless charging support and no IP rating. But if you can overlook these, then this is definitely a good smartphone. Apart from doing your routine tasks, you can also enjoy some heavy-duty gaming on the smartphone.

Smartphones from vivo have rarely struck us as being particularly high on the bang-for-buck meter, instead typically providing more premium-priced propositions. The X60 Pro+ isn't by any means cheap either, but in its top-tier market segment, it has both the spec sheet and the real-world performance to warrant its asking price.

The biggest asset on the Vivo X60 Pro+ is the camera and it does live up to the hype. Yes, it might have only 5X zoom, but frankly, that’s all I would ever use on a smartphone. The camera is capable of delivering some stunning results, no matter what the lighting. And the performance is not a problem given the Snapdragon 888 processor. Plus the vegan leather back and the compact design make this a very stylish flagship.

Until UK pricing is confirmed, I'll abstain from giving a final rating to the Vivo X60 Pro Plus – but make no mistake, I've been rendered highly impressed by this new flagship. For the camera set-up alone, the X60 Pro Plus is sure to find an audience with photography enthusiasts, but the addition of a bright 120Hz AMOLED display and the super-fast Snapdragon 888 chipset make this a smartphone to be reckoned with.

The Vivo X60 Pro+ delivers an ultra flagship camera in a (relatively) affordable and compact package, but you'll have to give up wireless charging, an IP rating, and stereo speakers – and put up with some occasionally frustrating software.

The Vivo X60 Pro+ is easily one of the more exciting flagships to launch in India in 2021. The phone definitely requires more attention than it is getting as it delivers on many fronts. In addition to offering a sleek design, the phone also brings an attractive AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, blazing-fast performance thanks to the Snapdragon 888 chipset, and some high-quality cameras. Compared to the OnePlus 9 Pro 5G, the Vivo X60 Pro+ feels like the company has not compromised on a lot of core features. However, there are still a few compromises to be found.

The Vivo X60 Pro+ is company’s first attempt at a flagship in India. It’s an honest one. The smartphone is at par with most others on the spec-sheet with a Snapdragon 888 SoC, 120Hz Full HD+ display and fast charging. Yes, it misses out on important things like dual speakers, IP rating and wireless charging but tries to compensate for them with more useful additions like a great design and more importantly, a delightful camera system.

Throughout all the changes that smartphones have undergone through the years, one thing that has remained constant, a least in the past few generations, has been the focus on better cameras. Almost just as important as the software user experience, the ability of these personal computers in our pockets to create a visual record of our lives has proven to be of importance to people from all walks of life.

That Vivo is not a household name in the West just yet might hold some back from investigating the X60 Pro+. But when this handset does arrive on these shores we urge you to give it a thorough look over, because the cameras arrangement here is simply stunning. Not just because there's a Zeiss logo slapped onto the rear, but because the four optics deliver cohesive, high-quality results, while the gimbal stabilisation system is simply stunning for shooting video. Add to that huge amounts of power, a fast-refresh screen, and there's masses of potential in the X60 Pro+. It just needs to arrive with updated global software and offer some better-looking finishes to be a pretty much perfect flagship.

The Vivo X60 Pro Plus differs from other flagship phones by virtue of its unique micro-gimbal camera setup. That focus does come at the expense of features like an IP rating and wireless charging, as well as an alarming amount of bloatware, but you're still getting a quality screen, plenty of power, and ultra-fast charging. If you value a versatile camera experience above all else, then the X60 Pro Plus will definitely scratch that itch — if you can get your hands on one.

Vivo reps say they do not have official prices yet for the global region (which includes India, Southeast Asia, and Europe), but in China, this phone retailed for 5,998 yuan, which is around $900. I think this is a fair price, considering that the Vivo X60 Pro Plus is an elegant-looking device with a capable main camera and ultra-wide that can hang with the big boys. The screen doesn’t get as bright or hi-res as the OPPO Find X3 Pro or Galaxy S21 Ultra, and the lack of stereo speakers, wireless charging, or IP water resistance rating may disappoint, but the X60 Pro Plus will very likely be several hundred dollars cheaper. For me, I think the tradeoff is fair.

Qualcomm Adreno 660:
