Critiques pour le/la Vivo X Fold3 Pro

If we evaluate vivo X Fold3 Pro as a flagship folding smartphone solely from a technical point of view, then everything is great. It has a nice design and IPX8 water protection, a powerful Qualcomm flagship platform, a very good set of cameras, high-quality AMOLED screens, loud stereo sound, good battery life, and fast charging. But now it's worth mentioning that the smartphone is available in a very limited number of countries.

Yes. Even more so if you care little for any AI features. Vivo hasn’t said much about its plans on that front, but the X Fold 3 Pro is more than capable of running them if they come along later. The global launch centered on India, and the conversion rate puts this phone at roughly $1,900 USD. That’s right in the ballpark with Samsung and Google, but you get more for every dollar from a photography perspective.

The X Fold3 Pro showcases what's possible with foldables; the svelte design means it isn't that much larger than a regular phone, but you still get two usable screens, and the panels are among the best in this segment. The same is true of the cameras, and they manage to take outstanding photos and videos in just about any situation. With most other foldables I've used in 2024, there's the distinct feeling that the cameras aren't quite on par with flagships, but that isn't the case here. There isn't anything missing on the hardware front either, and the X Fold3 Pro manages to do a standout job during extended gaming sessions. Battery life is another area where there are no problems, with the device easily lasting over a day even with heavy use — I can't say the same for any other foldable.

Reviewing the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro, the best big foldable phone of 2024 so far that's launched globally. I've been testing this flexible smartphone for a month and the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro's performance, battery life and camera tech are stiff competition for rivals. Even the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 can't keep up on many levels - although the OnePlus Open is still my favourite folding smartphone to date. Here's my full verdict on this FunTouch foldable, and for more of the best phones and tech of 2024, please subscribe!

You'd think Samsung has remained unchallenged in the large foldable space for another year and that's why it's mostly coasting with the Z Fold6, and that's probably true on a global scale. But the sort-of international X Fold3 Pro will be giving the Galaxy a run for its money in the coming months, albeit still regionally - let's hope it's enough of an indication of things to come from vivo, and a wake up call for Samsung. Indeed, the X Fold3 Pro does a lot of things better than the Galaxy, while not necessarily trailing in any areas - unless you're specifically after stylus operation. Ah, if you do a lot of traveling, the lack of eSIM support will be a hindrance too, but that's about it.

I’ve tried plenty of folding phones, and they’re fun to use, but none have ever convinced me to make the switch. As a camera fanatic, I’m usually disappointed with the photographic abilities, and having a nice big foldable display isn’t a good enough substitute. However, with the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro, there’s barely any compromise, and it might just be my new daily driver. This phone has impressed me on every front. The performance is excellent, the software works well, the displays look brilliant, the cameras are probably the best on any folding phone to date and it’s slim and light enough to almost feel like a non-folding flagship. The biggest downside is the availability.

That's a tough question – depending on which market you are in, it can be quite hard to get your hands on a Vivo X Fold 3 Pro. We'd say it's not worth jumping through multiple hoops and risking carrier incopatibilities — not because the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro is bad, but because there are options out there that work just fine and perform quite well themselves. That said, we are quite impressed with the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro — quality screens, quality build, dual ultrasonic fingerprint scanners, excellent performance and battery life. All that for quite the competitive price — considering that Samsung upped the price tag of the Z Fold by $100 this year, we'd say the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro is quite well positioned. Again... pretty hard to find it at a reputable retailer, though.

From the moment that phones like the first-gen Galaxy Z Fold and Huawei Mate X started failing, it looked like the foldable phone was just another short-lived gimmick. People looked at images of broken foldables on social media and said “Well, so much for that.” However, smartphone companies like Samsung and Motorola pulled this form factor out of the ashes, and companies like Oppo and Vivo helped push it forward. The foldable phone has come a long way, and the Vivo X Fold3 Pro is a testament to this. This phone shows just how far this form factor has come in the last five years. It excels in so many areas from the display to the design to the build quality to the speakers, and so on. It’s a fantastic phone and it’s honestly one of my favorite devices that I’ve reviewed. I can’t recommend the Vivo X Fold3 Pro enough!

This is hands down my favourite foldable of 2024 so far. The Vivo X Fold3 Pro is as slim and light as a traditional flagship, with equally impactful performance and even better battery life. Charging speeds leave rivals for dust, and its cameras are second to none in the foldable world. Both screens are a treat for the eyes. Vivo isn’t a class leader on the software front, though, lacking the productivity-boosting features found in the best foldables. The firm’s long-term update commitment is average at best, too. Then there’s the fact most Stuff readers are going to have to import it, which carries its own risks and doesn’t include any warranty. Buying one will take commitment, then – but those that see it through will end up with a fantastic phone.

Samsung has been delivering every single foldable that has been launched globally in India year after year. The brand surely has its following, so it will be really hard to convince a Samsung smartphone owner to switch to another brand, let alone a Vivo-branded device. However, there's enough value with bigger (high-resolution) displays, plenty of raw performance, more features (with a sprinkle of AI), and better overall camera performance available on the Vivo, making the X Fold 3 Pro stand out. Vivo seems to have done enough to get any brand-loyal smartphone buyer's attention. Just so you know, this phone is also manufactured in India. Oddly, Vivo does not offer any paid care program to extend the warranty of the foldable, as Samsung and OnePlus do.

The Vivo X Fold3 Pro’s main screen provided a good display experience for a foldable phone. Its anti-reflective film was instrumental in helping to improve the readability of the flicker-free screen, especially under sunlight. We measured the display’s peak brightness at 2,340 nits, which is the best so far in our foldable phone database. The anti-reflective film also helped to give the screen a uniform flatness and minimized the visibility of the crease. In the color category, colors showed a slight blue cast, but overall saturation and skin-tone management were well-suited for all lighting environments. HDR video watching was generally comfortable in indoor lighting, offering a measured peak brightness of 1,366 nits in this use case.

The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro is a noteworthy foldable smartphone excelling in various aspects. It boasts high-quality displays, a flagship-grade imaging system, and AI features, making it a versatile device suitable for diverse users. Additionally, its compact design, sturdy construction, and water ingress protection position it as a strong contender in the foldable device market.

Given the extra few months between the release of this device and its competitors, Vivo has made good use of the time by bringing in a few enhancements and adding a couple of extras. Other than using the fastest processing hardware around, there are a lot of additions in the AI and security department, which we will discuss later in the article. The one striking thing we noticed was an in-display fingerprint scanner on both the inner and outer displays. It’s a great addition as side-mounted scanners don’t feel ergonomic when you open the phone.

In my opinion, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro solves several problems that come with a foldable smartphone. The company has significantly improved the weight and size of the device. However, I still have my doubts about its durability to protect from any body damage. The smartphone comes with a top-notch processor, an impressive camera, and the brightest display, that every smartphone user requires. However, it's the price which bothered me about the device. The price point of Rs.159999 may hamper buyer decision over owning the product despite its advanced features and competitors such as the OnePlus Open and the upcoming Samsung Z Fold 6.

Having been a foldable form factor user since the first version, I am always keen to see how this segment is evolving. And this is why, despite Vivo being a brand I have not reviewed before, I jumped at the opportunity to check out the new Vivo X Fold 3 Pro. Like the OnePlus Open, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro also seems to be using the late mover advantage to its best by touting many firsts to this model from being the slimmest and lightest fold to the one with the largest battery and display.

The Vivo X Fold3 Pro is a step in the right direction foldable phones are heading towards. While earlier foldables were thick and heavy, thereby making them difficult to handle, the X Fold3 Pro shows that foldables can get slimmer and lighter without making compromises to the design or hardware. In addition to being slim and light, the X Fold3 Pro is also durable and has a sturdy hinge design. As impressive as the foldable is from the outside, the Vivo X Fold3 Pro is also impressive on the inside. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, 16GB of RAM, a large 5,700mAh battery and ZEISS-backed cameras make this an all-round foldable phone. The Vivo X Fold3 Pro checks all the right boxes for a foldable phone.

So that was the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro. It is the most refined foldable that I have used so far. It is easy to hold and grip, it has a brilliant display both inside and out, and it is very powerful at the same time. Couple of things that I didn’t like in terms of performance and how the phone functions are firstly, I don’t like the whole look and feel of Vivo’s FunTouch OS (that is my personal preference, I’m sure many users prefer this) and secondly, I found the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro heats up often. Apart from that, we are getting an extremely sleek and refined foldable experience. Add to that one of the great camera setups out there and we have a winner.

Indeed, Vivo has a solid contender for Samsung in the foldables space this year, packing in a few segment-leading hardware features. While Samsung has already taken a hit on a global level thanks to Huawei's reemergence, there's a lot banking on this year's new foldables from Samsung, which is also expected to arrive in a new ‘Ultra' flavour as well. For now, Vivo clearly seems to have enough when it comes to bragging rights, given its hardware specifications. But we will have to put the phone through its paces to see how it all comes together when used as a daily driver and is subjected to the wear and tear of daily usage. So, stay tuned to our detailed review of the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro, which will be out soon.

The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro is a complete package and is worth buying. The device is priced at Rs 1,59,999, making it a little pricey but it is good for anyone who wants all the goodness of a traditional flagship phone in a foldable form factor. The device delivers fast performance and also performs exceptionally well in the camera department. The battery life is solid and the 100W fast charger in the retail box is a cheery on cake. You are also getting a top-notch quality display and good-sounding speakers. It is also the slimmest and lightest foldable phone yet. All-in-all, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro receives a big thumbs up from us.

The Vivo X Fold 3 foldable smartphone brings top-end specs and features according to the 2024 standards. So, if you are looking for a true flagship foldable smartphone experience, the Fold 3 Pro would be a great choice. You will receive almost everything from Lecia optics to seamless software configuration. The phone has an impressive display that can support advanced gameplay and streaming side-by-side. But if you don’t want to spend much on the hardware and want the foldable phone feel, then the Vivo X Fold 3 could be a better deal. At the same time, the phone does lack a few points when compared to the Pro sibling. In our opinion, the Vivo X Fold 3 should have the same hardware configuration as the Pro model. But anyway, the phone didn’t hold back the users from exploring the goodness of extreme gaming performance and delivers amazing camera results. However, both of the models are most likely unavailable in the global smartphone market.

Overall, vivo X Fold3 Pro has found the best balance between thinness and versatility without compromising on user experience. It can be regarded as the most perfect thin and light folding flagship in all aspects to date, even if it is useless. It has an X-axis horizontal linear motor, but these materials, which can only be seen on straight-screen phones, are enough to make it firmly sit on the throne of “folding overlord” in my heart.

The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro is the second thinnest and lightest foldable phone around, measuring 11.2mm thick when folded and weighing 236g. Despite its sleekness, it has arguably the best camera system, and by far the largest battery at 5,700 mAh, and also two ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. It also runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

Qualcomm Adreno 750:
