The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 5G’s global battery performance was at the low end of our database, brought down by poor autonomy, long charging time, and weak efficiency. The Z Fold3 5G’s autonomy lasted less than 2 days in moderate use, and the device drained a lot of power during the night; as a result, its autonomy was among the lowest that we’ve tested. When testing each usage separately (video, music, and calling), the device’s autonomy also struggled because of its giant screen. The only exception was when gaming (tested unfolded) , where the autonomy was slightly above average, and the discharge current was lower than average. When tested outside, however, taking photos and videos with the device unfolded drained the battery extremely fast, much faster than any other device we’ve tested so far. The charging speed was slow because of the small 25W charger. A 5-minute charging boost couldn’t provide more than 2 hours and 19 minutes of autonomy, and the charge efficiency was low. However, the residual consumption of the charger was well-managed. The wireless charger didn’t do any better and showed very high residual consumption, unlike the wired charger.

So that was all for our long-term review of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. Like I said in the very beginning, foldable phones are ready for the mainstream market. And this is the perfect example of that. It just… works as well as you’d expect from any smartphone. Some features better than others, but I don’t think there are any particularly deal-breaking flaws here. Even though Samsung has a bunch of things to work on its successor. First and foremost, Samsung has got to match the competition in terms of minimizing the crease. That’s probably one of the biggest complaints most people have about this phone at this stage, seeing how basically every new player in the foldable arena has achieved a zero-gap hinge with way less noticeable crease. And an S Pen slot inside the phone itself would be a sweet, sweet deal too.

There’s no question the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is a better phone than either of its predecessors. Samsung did a commendable job updating the hardware in just the right ways to deliver a superior experience. Critically, Samsung overhauled the folding display tech to give it a more robust feel that’s not only stronger but supports the S Pen stylus for expanded functionality. Both displays boast improvements, as do all the general specs, and the chassis is now at least waterproof (though not dustproof). Despite Samsung’s efforts, the company did stumble here and there with the phone. For starters, battery life is somewhat limited and may not get power users through a full day. Moreover, the camera is merely good and not great. Our guess is most people expect a $1,799 phone to include a great camera, not a good one. And while it’s great that Samsung added S Pen compatibility to the Z Fold 3, the lack of a built-in garage and added cost of the stylus make a dubious value. All that said, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is a stellar device that capitalizes well on the lack of competition.

Clearly, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G is a phone that’s overflowing with positives. Not only is it something to admire, but it’s immediately obvious that Samsung has taken on feedback from previous versions, and it’s been rewarded with one of the most well-rounded foldables we’ve seen to date. As such, if you’re convinced that the folding form factor is the way smartphones are inevitably headed, and you want to get in on the action before anyone else, then there’s no doubt that this is the phone to get. The big question, however, is whether Samsung has done enough to get more of these in the pockets of the non-enthusiast, average consumer. Despite the slight reduction, the starting price is still well out of reach for most people, so those of us that aren’t blessed with bulging wallets will have to make do with regular, non-foldy smartphones for at least a little while longer.

In our prior review, we’ve concluded that it’s one of the most powerful and innovative foldable phones available in the market and one year on in, it’s been the standard to beat though a plethora of contenders have trickled into the local market. While anyone can cobble together hardware together into a facsimile of a foldable phone, it takes a sufficiently large and committed smartphone manufacturer to be able to dedicate not two or three but a whopping four years worth of OS updates and five years of security updates to a phone. That means that the Galaxy Z Fold3 is an investment that will last you at least half a decade down the road and then some. At this point in time, the Galaxy Z Fold3 is still the de facto foldable phone of choice and the standard by which other foldables are matched against. While the launch of its next generation successor is nigh, it still remains a potent offering in its own right even in 2022.

With the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Samsung retains the title of best foldable phone, and that’s not just because there’s really no competition right now. You get a more durable design, improved multitasking and better displays for a little less money than last time around. The under-display camera is a step forward in terms of design, letting you see more of the screen when not in use. But you'll need to trade off some image quality from this 4MP shooter. Samsung also deserves credit for working with developers to optimize more apps for foldables. However, while I appreciate the S Pen support, Samsung should have included the stylus for $1,799. Plus, the battery life could be better and the overall design slimmer. Overall, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is a winner, but it's only for those users who are willing to pay a premium for a phone that can double as a tablet.

There are very few downsides to the Galaxy Z Fold3, and depending on your stance on each particular matter, it could reasonably be argued that all of these are actually more like tradeoffs that still inevitably come with the form factor. The size and weight of the device are things you can never really get over, but think of what these tradeoffs make possible - you can unfold a small tablet in your hand whenever you feel like it. The same goes for the cameras - while good, they're not the best out there, but them being the best out there would require them to use more space, which is at a premium anyway, because - did we mention that you can unfold a small tablet in your hand whenever you feel like it? So, if you're anywhere else and want to get a taste of (what might possibly be) the future, the Samsung way is the only way. And of the Flip3 and Fold3, it's pretty clear which product is the fashion statement and which one is the serious workhorse. Small phones have always been around, in one shape or another. Tablets you can actually pocket, though?

After three generations and plenty of mistakes, Samsung has really hit its stride with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. The design issues have been worked out, the software is now fully optimized for its display, and the phone now even has an official IP rating for water and dust resistance. Add in things like a decent camera, blazingly hot specs, and a gorgeous Super AMOLED display and it is easy to see why this foldable phone is the foldable phone that most people that buy foldable phones tend to buy. Samsung has finally nailed the concept and, for all intents and purposes, is now the company to beat in the foldable market. The only potential caveat about the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, however, is that it will soon be replaced by the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. If you’re going to be spending MEGA bucks on a foldable phone, you might as well outhold another month or two and wait for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 – it will have a more powerful CPU, a more refined design, and a heavily updated camera. If you simply cannot wait until then, sure, grab yourself a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3

With that being said, for those who want the Fold 3 but don’t want to pay a lot of money, it might be worth waiting for the Galaxy Fold 4 to release in Q3 2022. Following the Fold 4’s launch, the Fold 3 should — in theory — drop in price. Since you won’t be missing out on a lot with the successor, the Fold 3 with a lower price might be even more appealing than the Fold 4. Samsung’s Galaxy Fold 3 is a top-of-the-line device. Sure, it’s hefty, but it sports flagship features a Snapdragon 888 processor, 12GB of RAM, 4,400mAh battery, a triple camera setup and two high-quality displays. The Fold 3 is a total beast that I’ve used for months now and don’t plan to put down any time soon.

Although it's not massively different to its predecessor, Samsung continues to deliver the most complete foldable experience on the market. Any such device inevitably comes with its share of issues - here, there are screen reflections, a central crease, and the under panel camera (UPC) isn't entirely successful in its endeavours - but for sheer show-off factor the Z Fold 3's uninterrupted view really delivers the wow factor.

Performance remains great, and the inner 120Hz foldable display is fantastic. Believe it or not, the vertical crease doesn’t feel as intrusive as the Galaxy Z Flip 3’s horizontal crease. The Fold 3 is larger, and because of its book-like design, your fingers rarely run across the middle crease. It’s something that exists in the background but doesn’t affect the user experience in any significant way. All things considered, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 remains a great device after eight months, and the best foldable phone on the market. But we can already see the areas that Samsung could improve for the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 4, and rumor has it that the upcoming model will boast an improved telephoto camera.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 remains one of the most interesting and innovative devices in the market in 2022, and the phone is a testament to how far Samsung has come since the launch of the original Galaxy Fold back in 2019. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 overcomes many of the barriers most foldable phones have yet to fix, but it still suffers from the fundamental design flaws of the phone-tablet hybrid form factor. The limited number of competitors are certainly getting stronger, but a lack of global availability makes them a non-starter. If there was one word to describe the experience of using a Z Fold 3 from launch until today, it would be consistent. Whether it’s software, performance, battery, or camera, regardless of where this device falls short, the experience has remained consistent and reliable since day one. Not many devices can match that, especially not ones that are this innovative. Despite its shortcomings, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 has delivered on an experience that just lacked a bit of polish, but never once sacrificed usability or reliability.

So 6-months after release, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is still quite an interesting proposition. You’re looking at a device that can take the place of two devices with little compromise. Both outside and inside displays are very usable and both look very good in terms of color, clarity, and responsiveness. The phone also seems very solid and well made. There is still nothing like the Galaxy Z Fold 3 out on the market here in the U.S., so there’s pretty much no real competition here for it. The price for it is still pretty steep however at $1800, but most carriers are still offering trade-in deals which can cut that down to a slightly more reasonable price. Is it still worth buying? If you got the money for it, I’d say you can’t really go wrong with it if you want an impressive and very different device to show off. Not to mention that it really does make some experiences much better.

As my title says, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 isn’t so much a grand overhaul than it is the brand simply tweaking and making improvements in areas that it deems to be necessary. And while there is technically a competitor for it in the form of Huawei’s Mate X2, the Z Fold3 is in a class of its own, especially when you start to add up the features being offered on tap by Samsung. At a starting price of RM6699, the Z Fold3 is also one of Samsung’s most expensive smartphones on the market, after its Galaxy Note series. Having said that, this lineup of foldable phones looks set to become the official replacement for the Note lineup, given the ongoing speculation of the Korean electronics giant’s alleged decision to pull the plug on the series. That aside, if you’ve got the disposable income and willing to give this foldable phone a whirl, or even if you’re trading up from the first generation Fold or the Z Fold2, one point bears repeating: if you do plan on getting an S Pen Pro with the phone, do go the extra mile and purchase a casing with a compartment for the stylus too.

My guess is most people expect a $1,799 phone to include a great camera, not a good one. Samsung nixed its Note series in 2021 and instead ported the Note’s S Pen features to the Z Fold 3. While the Z Fold 3 does support the powerful stylus tools we know and love, the S Pen is an optional accessory that has no home in the Z Fold 3 itself.

At Rs 1,49,999, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 starts at an extremely premium price. Of course, there will be those who will claim that you can get a flagship phone and a tablet in that price segment (indeed from Samsung itself) and still have change left over. But then comparing the Galaxy Z Fold 3 with normal flagship devices is unfair. For, this is a device that actually tries to do away with the need for having a phone AND a tablet and brings them into a single form factor. What’s more, it does so more successfully than any other foldable we have seen. And we have seen a few. That is what makes the galaxy Z Fold 3 unique. In the current market, it is literally in a class of one. Its own predecessors are flimsy in comparison. Until now, the Fold series was mainly about form and flaunting. With the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Samsung has added functionality and solidity to the mix. In a big way. The Z Flip 3 might be the fun foldable, but the Z Fold 3 is simply the most useful and most usable foldable smartphone around. By some distance. Even months after its release.

There were a lot of shortcomings - but still Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is on my very short list of smartphones that I would like to own. It is one-of-a-kind equipment, so expensive and unusual that you should buy it consciously. For me - Fold is a model of work comfort that is unmatched by other constructions. After trying the third generation of this equipment, I am sure that the next one will be even better - and I secretly hope that I will finally be able to afford this equipment.

Pipe dreams of a future rollable phone aside, that doesn’t mean that the Fold 3 doesn’t do exactly what Samsung intended very well. The question is do you want what it does? If you’re just looking for a phone, I’m not sure the Fold 3 is for you, it is a good phone, but if you don’t WANT a larger foldable display then you can get cheaper phones with better cameras and battery life. If however, you can see a use case for the larger foldable display then the Galaxy Fold 3 might be for you. With an MSRP of $1,999.00 for the 256GB model, it’s not the most expensive phone in Australia, but it is an expensive phone. Samsung does offer good trade-in programs that may bring your cost down so if you are interested you should check out the direct sales offers from Samsung. Overall if you’ve been wanting the larger display but not sure if the overall package was “worth it”, I would say it is. There has been nothing about my time with the Galaxy Fold 3 that would make me not recommend it to anyone who wants that larger screen and can afford the price tag.

The Galaxy Z Fold3 5G is the latest iteration in the Samsung Z Fold series. With a 6.2-inch HD+ Dynamic AMOLED cover display, in addition to its main, 7.6-inch QXGA+ AMOLED display, it offers a rather unique form factor and some interesting productivity features. In the photography department it packs a triple rear camera set up including standard, ultra-wide and telephoto lenses. All three cameras are fashioned around 12 MP sensors with either f/1.8 (standard), f/2.2 (ultra-wide) or f/2.4 (telephoto) aperture lenses. The tele lens offers a 2x optical zoom solution for punching in a bit tighter. For video, the Z Fold3 5G records up to a maximum 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. With a price tag as sizeable as its screen real estate let’s see how the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 5G performed against the top devices in the Ultra-Premium price segment.

When I started reviewing smartphones, there was always something new happening. There were physical keyboards, tablet docks, sliders, flippers, and every hinge conformation you could imagine. Then, everyone settled on the flat glass slab, because let's face it, most of those ideas were terrible. You know what's not terrible? Foldables. I know, I was surprised, too. Samsung's ever-evolving foldables give me hope that the future of mobile will be more than a sea of the same boring old form factor. The Galaxy Z Fold3 comes perilously close to being ready for prime time, having received numerous improvements over last year's Fold. It's still very expensive and heavy, but the more I use it, the more I'm convinced this is the future. It might not be a future most people are ready to jump into with both feet, but for some of you reading this, the Z Fold3 is absolutely the phone to buy.

It's clear Samsung's goal was to make a more mainstream-friendly product that will begin to set the stage for Folds to come. Water resistance is likely the single most important feature they could have added to ensure that everyday life doesn't ruin the Fold 3, and seemingly small hardware improvements like the new PET screen protector make a huge difference in everyday usage of the phone. It's a solid improvement that makes it more realistic for more people to own a Fold, and in that respect, Samsung achieved its goal for 2021. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the first mainstream-ready Fold in many ways. While the price is still quite high, great offers from Samsung and the carriers make the phone easier than ever to get. Great software, a unique experience, S Pen capability, and reliable cameras all mean you'll continue to be happy long after buying the phone, too.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the company’s most accomplished foldable device yet, thanks to significant improvements in its build quality and upgrades to the internals and the display. However, the atypical aspect ratio and the off-putting price mean that most customers are probably best off buying a phone and a seaparate tablet rather than this idiosyncratic hybrid.

I went into this review fully prepared to label the Galaxy Z Fold 3 as another gimmick device. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Now I’m literally contemplating if it’s my next personal smartphone. The instant flexibility in form factors packed into a single unit is enticing. However, with that said. It’s not for everyone, and at $1800 full retail at AT&T for the 256GB model, it’s far outside the impulse purchase. If those things keep you timid to pull the trigger, I get it, but the Galaxy Fold 3 truly is a smartphone in its own league that deserves your attention.

There are a host of refinements that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 lords over its predecessor; with a cleaner, hardier design that somehow integrates water resistance, an expanded feature set (including S Pen support) and a lower starting price. While processing, gaming and camera performance may not be industry-leading, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 focuses on making the foldable concept more attainable without presenting any real sacrifices in any particular area. What the Fold 3 does highlight within this burgeoning product category, however, is that building experiences for folding form factors is hard and right now, Samsung is the principal driving force behind that getting any easier.

When the first Galaxy Fold was launched two years back, critics shared a lot of apprehensions about an untested design, fragile display, the ugly-looking selfie camera notch and a collective opinion was presented that foldable phones are not market-ready. Listening to criticism, Samsung launched a drastically different-looking Galaxy Z Fold 2 in 2020. It had a top-notch chipset, the battery life was similar to most big-screen phones but critics then had issues with Samsung terming the plastic foldable screen as ‘Ultra Thin Glass’. The debate was only around should you spend on a phone that is too fragile. It is similar to telling people don’t use something innovative just because it may break easily. Of course, the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G still uses the same plastic flexible display but this time, Samsung’s core focus seems to be on making a statement as to how the third-generation foldable phones are not that fragile as portrayed. Giving due credit, Samsung has now added an IPX8 water resistance rating and a stronger frame.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the first foldable phone that we recommend to people who would normally call themselves ‘early adopters’, yet held off on buying last year’s Z Fold 2 for good reason. Those fence-sitters will be swayed by the new Z Fold 3’s S Pen support, greater durability and water-resistance in an otherwise familiar-looking foldable design with unchanged cameras. It’s still mighty expensive, and therefore not for the average consumer, but it starts at a slightly lower price than its predecessors, making it ideal for those who've been looking to buy into the form factor but have been waiting on the sidelines.

For all its qualities, there are still some conceptual issues with Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 3 that start to annoy over time. By the second week of use, we did grow tired of the smaller screen and its squished controls. It isn't always easy to fold it back either, particularly when you're in a rush; the average person looks at their phone all the time, so either make the unfolding easier or turn using the smaller screen into a better experience please, Samsung. The low-spec camera is also off-putting. The S21 is almost £400 cheaper and that has arguably the best combination of lenses and software there has ever been on a smartphone. You have to question whether a device can be considered a flagship if it hasn't got flagship-quality cameras. That being said, there are better reasons to buy the Fold 3 than there were for its predecessors: it's (slightly) tougher, the 120Hz refresh rate on both displays is a joy, it has much more power and the software is fantastic and intuitive. What's more, it's clear that the

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 isn’t necessarily the best foldable for all people, as the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is a great pick if you want to buck the trend of ever-larger smartphones while still having all the wow factor of a folding screen. Samsung’s smaller foldable also delivers a more durable screen and an IPX8 design, but the small size comes at the expense of a decently sized battery and telephoto camera. But if you like the idea of a powerful tablet in your pocket and were waiting for some foldable kinks to be addressed, then the Galaxy Z Fold 3 doesn’t really have any viable competition outside China. The addition of a tougher folding display and IPX8 design really goes a long way towards assuaging durability concerns in a way that even Huawei and Xiaomi’s China-only foldables don’t seem to do. Otherwise, you should wait for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 if you want a foldable phone that has all the bells and whistles of a premium flagship, or buy a Galaxy S21 Ultra instead.

Foldable smartphones once seemed like a futuristic dream, but if there’s anything Samsung has proved this year it’s that these phones are closer to reality for a lot of people. Price, I’d argue, is the biggest thing standing in the way of a Galaxy Z Fold 3 in the hands of a lot of people. Even broken up into monthly payments, $1,799 is just a hard pill to swallow. To Samsung’s credit, the offers for trade-ins are phenomenal, and the price is going to be worthwhile for many people, but it’s still very expensive. And the other tough part is that foldable smartphones just aren’t quite done baking yet. Durability has come an incredible way in the past 3 years, but Samsung still needs to work on the ultra-thin glass and, more importantly, its service options. Almost any major damage to a Galaxy Z Fold 3 will require shipping the phone off to Samsung for repair – the company is technically partnered with Asurion (uBreakiFix) for repairs, but some matters are just out of those store’s hands – meaning you’re left without your phone for days on end.

It is difficult to objectively review such a smartphone. I both love it and dislike it at the same time. It helps you feel like a part of the future, but at the same time, the smartphone sometimes irritates me with its format. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G is the third generation of the Korean manufacturer’s foldable smartphone, with many new features and improvements. The device looks great, and you want to actively use it. The design with a large flexible display, which in the latest model can also be controlled using the S Pen stylus, is very convenient. Getting used to such a device leads to an obsession with bending everything. In terms of tech, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is a very impressive device. In my opinion, it has two main problems: the folded state and the price. Although Samsung has practically no competitors in the market, which gives them a huge head start for experiments and improvements.

When Samsung announced the first Galaxy Fold back in the year 2018, we joked around saying that it would be an amazing device if it has Samsung’s S Pen support and even mentioned that the S Pen could be hidden inside the device like the Nintendo DS. Perhaps for the Fold, the S Pen can be hidden inside the hinge area – that’ll be great. Fast forward to today, and here we have it. The Galaxy Z Fold3 with S Pen support. It’s a dream come true for many people like me who just can’t live without a pen nowadays since having a pen is just so much more convenient to draw stuff with. It is the best (almost only) foldable today. It is unique, but you need the use case to justify it – unless you just want bragging rights. This Fold has grown up – relatively quickly, and there are no deal-breakers. But I can’t help feel it is still an evolving format – pull out, rollable OLED, dual screens, who knows?. But as this is a 3-year device, who cares? As a foldable, it is damned close to perfect. As a phone, there are far better phones like the class-leading S21 Ultra 5G. After two weeks of use, I am happy to return to a glass slab – lighter, more pocketable, and a lot cheaper.

Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 is the company's best foldable, and truly the best foldable in the market to date. The design is polished yet as durable as ever, and the software experience has been refined to make an Android tablet surprisingly enjoyable to use. Samsung has created the best iteration of the Galaxy Z Fold with this year's Z Fold3, but for most consumers, the $1800 price point is still not low enough to make this device viable. The fundamental issues of folding phones—like lack of dust resistance and subpar battery life—still aren't justifiable for most people to consider getting this device. That said, the Galaxy Z Fold3 is the best argument that can be made for this form factor. If you have the money to own it, this is a magical device that changes how you use a phone.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 is a feat of engineering and innovation that consumers may not be able to fully appreciate. The South Korean firm has refined several elements across the board, but one significant issue from past iterations has not been addressed - software. When I started using the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, it had an instant wow factor. Now “wow” as in, this folding screen is so cool. I’ve used foldable devices before; that’s not new. What blew me away was that I could instantly tell that this would improve my user experience. I don’t ever want to use a phone that doesn’t fold again. The big difference is the larger screen. It just makes more things make sense. That includes split-screen apps, a larger screen for game streaming, more room to write in OneNote, and more. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 is an absolute beast of a productivity device. You get IPX8 resistance rating, the main display now works better than ever thanks to UI optimizations, both displays are vibrant and colorful, 120Hz adaptive refresh rate now available in both displays, S Pen support, great stereo speaker experience, Snapdragon 888 is a solid performer, good camera quality, and improved durability overall. However, there are still a number of key areas that it could improve on. There’s no headphone jack, it’s harder to find protective cases, battery life / capacity could be higher, and it’s still pricey at RM6,699. Despite all of that, I do believe this iteration of the foldable smartphone has come to a point where it can easily take the place of any flagship smartphone as a daily driver without issues. Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 is the best foldable smartphone you can get at the moment. It ticks all the checkboxes for a flagship Samsung smartphone (Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, IPX8 water resistance, S Pen support) and it is lighter, tougher and at RM6699, more affordable than when the first Galaxy Z Fold smartphone initially came out. If you have the money and desire for it, then you can use it for practically anything. We did have some nitpicks with it like the automatically squishing switch from the main display to the Cover Display, but perhaps that and other improvements may arrive with further updates. Alternatively, there’s always the Galaxy Z Flip3 which is also tougher, lighter and more pocketable (check out our review) but now going for the price of RM3999 which is about the price of most flagship smartphones these days.

While the Galaxy Z Fold 3 offers some great features, it’s still a test device that’s part experimental at this stage. The price point of S$2,398 (256GB) and $2,548 (512GB) is a huge undertaking for most people, and unless the technology provides an assurance of extended usability, or if the price falls below to something more mass market, the Z Fold 3 is the concept sports car you would love to own, but it’s more practical to buy a regular sedan instead.

Although the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 has become a few hundre Pouds cheaper than its predecessor, the South Koreans’ foldable smartphone is still really expensive! So expensive that even Apple cannot charge a similar amout. So you really have to be happy with the idea of a foldable mobile screen for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 to be tempting. If so, then the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is a great product that offers important optimizations such as S-Pen support as well as waterproofness and better front screen compared to its predecessor. As mentioned, however, we have begun to become skeptical about the very concept of foldable mobiles, so we will not give a special recommendation. And if you are already a fan of the Galaxy Z Fold series, then you will probably buy the latest model anyway. The Z Fold3's displays have great color reproduction, brightness, and saturation to boot. Samsung's Dynamic AMOLED panels are top of the line, and the end result is a vibrant, high-contrast experience that just pops. An HDR10 certification and infinite, inky-dark black and rich colors only the best OLED technology can produce are gorgeous anywhere we see them. So, the question that remains is, should you buy a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 5G? The answer is "maybe." If you have the budget, can see past its current inherent shortcomings and will make use of its massive screen real estate. One thing is certain -- getting a glimpse of the foldable future today is pretty tempting. It's going to be interesting to watch this space in the coming years. While the device is still folded down the middle, the most standout feature for the Galaxy Z Fold3 is the under display 4MP front camera. This under-display camera isn’t visible at all at a distance, but if you look closer, you can make out the circle where this camera is located.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 proves to be an innovative yet practical melding of a phone and tablet into one slick foldable form factor. This third generation phone does not come cheap, but offers water resistance, world-class performance, luscious 120Hz displays and S Pen support that take multitasking to the next level. If you are a power user looking for the ultimate phone for 2021, this is it.

If you’re looking to upgrade from the Galaxy Z Fold 2, and have largely been content with what last year’s foldable has to offer, stick with it. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 might be another major iteration in the series, and will likely offer an even better main display along with much-improved camera hardware. Those who are tired of slab phones and want something unique and different, or if you’re a Galaxy Note fan, then go for the Fold 3. There are still plenty of great trade-in promotions taking place, and the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is simply an incredible piece of technology, no matter what way you look at it. My qualms with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 (other than battery life) are more nit-picks than anything else. It still blows my mind that I have a smartphone that features a single display that can be folded and unfolded.

Without the S Pen, The Galaxy Z Fold3 still makes for an excellent upgrade over the first and second Fold. It’s also a pleasant handset for users who want to see more, do more, and get more out of their mobile phones. It is after all, made for consumers who want to rock a big screen in pocketable fashion but without lugging a full sized tablet. However, if you’re happy with paying ‘normal’ flagship prices for ‘normal’ flagship-tier mobiles and ‘normal’ phone experiences, you can continue to give the Fold3 a miss and treat yourself to a nice Galaxy Buds2 and a Samsung Galaxy Watch4 with the money saved (or even purchase another pair for your other half). That said, you shouldn’t sleep on the Fold3, because the big screen really changes how you use smartphones as a whole - once you figure out how you plan to carry the phone as well as which kidney to sell. Don’t forget to check out all the pricing and availability details here to maximise your purchase options and to factor in all the accessory costs.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is one of my favorite phones ever and the Galaxy Z Fold 3 improves on it. The addition of water resistance and the improved screen and chassis durability are all huge steps forward for a phone that felt a bit like handling fine china in the past. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 avoiding any serious durability concerns and the improvements to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 should instill confidence that this phone can hold up to daily use. There are still drawbacks to its unique design though. The $1,799 price point is an improvement, but it needs to come down another $200 to be vaguely competitive with the top-tier flagships. If you are a person that wants one device to rule them all, and are willing to pay for it, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is worth the price of admission. However, unless money is no object, I think most would still be happier with the Galaxy S21 Ultra or iPhone 12 Pro Max and several hundred extra dollars in their pocket.

The Galaxy Fold 3 is a very, very cool device. This foldable thing is absolutely a tech niche I hope lives on and continues to improve. The Fold 3 showcases the best of foldables of today, with its brilliant displays, high-end set of specs and hardware, and that magical hinge system that will forever be fun to play with. At $1,800, getting into this device is easier than ever and should you be in the market for this type of phone, you will be quite happy. There is so much to enjoy here. But for me, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is a tough device to keep around. The size and awkwardness of it when not stuck under a stay-at-home order has made it difficult to want to leave the house with. As much as I enjoy using it while at home, just give me a regular phone, please.

The Z Fold 3 is water-resistant, more durable, $500 cheaper than its predecessor, has two good 120Hz refresh rate displays, a top-of-the-line processor, 12GB of RAM, and a user interface that is near perfect. Should you buy it? If money’s not a concern, and you’re interested in a powerful smartphone with two displays, one of which is tablet size, I don’t see why not. As long as you can get over the crease, the size, the weight, and the gimmicky under-display camera, it’s a solid option. If you want a foldable phone, but don’t want to pay a rather large monthly bill, I’d definitely suggest the more affordable Z Flip 3. As I mentioned at the top of this review, if I had $2,269 burning a hole in my pocket, I’d definitely head over to Samsung(or most of the Canadian carriers) to go purchase this positively exquisite handset.

Holding and wielding the phone made for a wonderful experience. Granted, it’s almost twice as thick as a conventional phone like the Galaxy S21 Ultra, the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G is also functionally more versatile as you have both a phone and a tablet in one form factor. The hinge itself also feels reassuringly sturdy with the whole affair looking absolutely the business. On our first run through, the crease in the middle of the main display looked and felt less obvious than its predecessor and it’s something you’ll gradually ignore over time but it does not affect image quality or performance for the display itself. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 5G and the Galaxy Z Flip3 5G are both available for preorder until 21st September in Malaysia with a host of free gifts and perks worth up to RM1,649 with e-vouchers worth up to RM850 to get Samsung accessories on their Samsung Malaysia Online Store and Samsung Care+ protection worth up to RM799 free for a year.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 is not a phone for everyone. But the power users, those who are thinking of using one device in place of the two they have now, will love this. It is for those who make money from being productive on the go, wherever they are. No, you are not going to pay the extra bucks for the ability to give a preview of your photos as you click them or to see comments flow on a YouTube streaming video. Those are just fringe benefits of a new form factor.

Again, yes the price isn’t cheap at P87,990 for the 12GB+256GB variant while the higher storage is at P95,990(12GB+512GB). The Galaxy Z Fold 3’s camera and the battery is the clear downside. The flagship phones can have fast-charging up to 120W, 108MP cameras that use a nano Bayer technology, and bigger numbers in the specs sheets. That is the trade-off if you are going to the Z Fold 3’s foldable screen. But having a foldable phone is quite a unique tech that Samsung has for the 3rd time. And that’s incomparable to other flagships. The multitasking experience on this device is boosted, and our productivity and the experience are incredibly improved.

What’s the takeaway here? Pretty simple really: every one that got the phone early was nice about the phone. But no one is claiming that this type of phone is either capable or likely to take over from traditional phones like the iPhone 12 or Samsung Galaxy S21. I get that the design is novel and that it is effectively two devices in one, but it still costs $1799 which, for a phone, is crazy expensive. But if you do fancy picking yourself up a piece of very special technology because, whichever way you slice it, this phone is very special, then Three in the UK has some of the best deals for it right now – you can save 50% on all contracts for the phone right now.

A £1600 phone sends our scepticism into overdrive. You could buy a Fiat Seicento with 30,000 miles on the clock and only mild kerb damage for that sort of money. And you’d still have change left over to buy a couple of big-screen budget phones. So we don’t think all that many people should buy a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. But we can’t deny it offers an experience different to any standard smartphone. It’s not the same as having a phone and a tablet, either. There’s no doubling up or looking daft tapping on a 10in screen on the Tube. And Samsung has done a fantastic job of making an unusual phone that rapidly starts to feel normal. Sure, it’s heavy and thick, but the narrow frame deserves a chef’s kiss. No company is doing as much as Samsung to try and make foldable phones a realistic proposition for ordinary people. While we’re not quite there yet, phones like the Z Fold 3 prove there’s more to foldables than just a hugely expensive gimmick.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 5G is undoubtedly the best foldable smartphone for now. The phone does enhance multitasking, apps are optimized with its foldable display, there’s an under-the-display camera on-board even if it's a paltry 4MP. However, there are some places Samsung should have looked into to improve such as there’s no S Pen included, the phone is still heavy, and the UD camera is just 4MP. In any case, Galaxy Z Fold3 5G isn’t for everyone at Rs 149,999/- which means it has a very niche market and the price won’t be an issue for the target audience I am talking about. Overall, there is still a long way to go for the Fold series to be affordable but it is also turning many heads making it a clear winner in the foldable phone category.

So who is this person, this smartphone enthusiast who should actually consider spending up to $1,800 on a foldable? Well, if you read aaaaaaaaall the way down to this sentence, you just read several thousand words about a phone. You might be that person. The good news is that you don't have to spend a whole $1,800. Samsung offers pretty good trade-in values, even after the pre-order bonanza. You can easily get the cost down closer to a thousand, which is increasingly standard for a high-end smartphone. I'm putting my money where my mouth is, too. Last year, I bought a Z Fold2, and I have pre-ordered a Galaxy Z Fold3 to be "my phone" for the next year. If you're like me and want to have the most phone possible in your pocket, this is it.

Now, spending Rs 1.5 lakh on a phone might not be an easy decision to make, and even if you can afford that, the Galaxy Z Fold3 might not be for everyone. Moving from a conventional smartphone to this device does require a fair bit of commitment, and knowing what you’d be getting into if you do buy one. The issues regarding its weight, and aspects related to daily use which are unique to it because of its unconventional form factor, are all important considerations. If you’re on the fence just because you feel it’s a delicate piece of gadgetry, you do have good reason to worry. Not only is it a great conversation starter and a device you’d love to flaunt, the Galaxy Z Fold3 is a device that shows how the foldable display innovation has been refined to a level where it’s finally ready for mass consumption.

The technology behind folding smartphones has been progressing rapidly over the years. Samsung's latest foldables are proof that this is not going to be merely a one-off novelty feature but something that could eventually become the norm. That future still seems far off though, as folding displays have a lot of catching up to do before they can be as strong or reliable as standard flat displays. Still, if you're someone who wants to live on the bleeding edge of tech, then the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is possibly the most refined foldable in the market right now. If cameras and battery life are important to you, the Galaxy S21 Ultra is the better choice. On the other hand, if you want to be able to have a tablet-sized screen in your pocket and are willing to live with some compromises such as ergonomics, cameras and battery life, then nothing comes close to the Galaxy Z Fold 3.

2021 does feel like the year where foldable phones tip over into the mainstream, though I’m not sure it’s the Galaxy Z Fold 3 which does that. The smaller, more affordable Galaxy Z Flip 3 pairs the eye-catching flexible screen tech with what I think is a more obvious pitch: it’s a full-sized phone when it’s open, and half that size when it’s closed. Demand for a full-sized phone that expands into a small tablet seems like it would be smaller. That’s because I don’t think most people should buy an $1,800 smartphone, though, not because of inherent issues with the foldable itself. Only those with deep pockets – literally and figuratively – should consider Samsung’s newest flagship, but that decision feels a lot less frivolous than it did even just 12 months ago.

To its credit, Samsung repaired my phone at no cost, with a minimum of fuss: a quick couple calls and a trip to the UPS store got me a fully-fixed Fold 2 returned to me in one week. And while I worry that a similar failure might befall my Galaxy Z Fold 3 (for reasons we’ll talk about), that experience ultimately only reinforced my commitment to foldables. See, each of the seven days I was without my Fold 2 felt less productive, and more frustrating … because I genuinely couldn't do as much on a conventional phone. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 only adds more features to Samsung's foldable family, and it does so for $200 less than last year's sticker price. It runs Android 11 with One UI 3.1 on the Snapdragon 888 CPU in all markets. It’s now IPX8 water resistant, and it supports the Fold version of the S Pen (Wacom EMR) to win over Galaxy Note fans, avid note takers and artists. With the Fold 3, it feels like Samsung has tried extremely hard to make a foldable smartphone-tablet hybrid work. But while I found myself eagerly reaching for the Flip 3 when I was reviewing it, I struggled to find reasons to use the Fold 3. When it’s closed, it’s heavier and narrower than a regular phone. I only want to open it up for gaming and getting work done on my commute. For the times when I’m leaning back on my couch and want to idle away on Reddit or Twitter, the Fold 3 doesn’t satisfy. Maybe that’s a good thing, but I’m not here to debate the philosophical benefits of foldables. I had a similar issue with the Surface Duo, which tried to be a tablet and a phone and failed at both. As components get smaller, the Fold could one day be thin and light enough with much improved software that might make it useful in all its modes. But for now, despite all the progress Samsung has made, the Fold 3 is still not ready for the mainstream.

The Galaxy Z Fold3 5G is an impressive step in Samsung’s foldable smartphone saga. However, I’m not as excited for the phone itself as I am for the future of the series. The Z Fold2 launched for PHP 109,990, and the Z Flip3 5G starts at PHP 87,990 (12GB + 256GB). Take a gander over the Z Flip, and the drop in launch price is even more dramatic. Whether the cost of manufacturing these smartphones has gotten cheaper, or Samsung is eating up the costs themselves to drive sales, which shows that the Korean giant is serious about making foldable phones more mainstream. No matter how the market would respond to this sort of development a couple of years down the line, I think it’s exactly the kind of shake-up the smartphone industry needs. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is, without a doubt, the king of the foldables. However, my eyes are on its heirs.

So – conclusion time. With all of that said, I am actually considering getting myself a Galaxy Z Fold3. I do think that foldable devices are now mature enough since it now has IPX8-rating and most importantly – the price drop. I was expecting it to be RM6,999 but nope, Samsung Malaysia dropped the price to only RM6,699. My jaws dropped. However, I am already using the Galaxy S21 Ultra. Changing to the Galaxy Z Fold3 means I have to downgrade the cameras by quite a significant margin. But, I’m willing to do it as the user experience will be so much better as I can run apps, or even games, side by side.

If you’re an enthusiast and don’t have the Galaxy Z Fold 2, then yes. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is an instant buy. But if you are coming from the Galaxy Z Fold 2, it’s likely not worth it at this price. Unless you can get a good trade-in deal from Samsung or your carrier. If you are not an enthusiast, then I’d say hold off on the Galaxy Z Fold 3. It’s just too expensive for the average consumers still. Especially with the quick updates that are coming to foldables these days. If you do want to jump into the land of foldables, we’d recommend the Galaxy Z Flip 3, as it is a bit cheaper and better at a lot of things.

Well, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is here and it brings a few upgrades to the formula that made the Z Fold 2 quite cool. It has a very similar design and hinge, but we now have water resistance, slightly better screens, a new processor, S Pen support, and a new software experience that really makes use of the foldable form factor. Hopefully, the same software will trickle down to previous Folds via an update (and sooner would be better).

A folding phone should give you an immersive experience across all of your apps and videos, as well as help boost your productivity - the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G is designed to tick those boxes. While it's still not perfect, it finally feels like a phone that you could actually use day-to-day.

Samsung made all the right changes with the Z Fold 3, finally giving people a good reason to consider a foldable phone without making serious concessions. S Pen support and new multitasking features will make Note users jump for joy, and nicer screen protectors and water resistance mean you can confidently use this phone in any situation.

Speaking of premiums, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is an expensive phone, but it’s definitely worth the money. If the choice is between this or the Galaxy Z Fold 2, buy the Galaxy Z Fold 3. If the choice is between this or a regular phone, where there is a substantial difference between the price of both, the answer is still to buy the Galaxy Z Fold 3. However, if you are upgrading from the Galaxy Z Fold 2 to the Galaxy Z Fold 3, then it’s worth considering how much value these upgrades bring for you. Personally, I’ve got the Z Fold 2 and still bought the Galaxy Z Fold 3, mainly because of the added durability. Being able to use the Z Fold 3 in the rain marks a huge step towards it being the perfect phone for me.

Samsung did well to improve the strength and design of the Z Fold 3's hardware, which makes it a much better phone than its predecessors. It does fall just short in a couple of key areas like battery life and camera performance. The price remains too high for most, but the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is a stellar device that capitalizes well on the lack of competition. If you want a pocketable phone that converts into a tablet, the Z Fold 3 is the only one to get.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the first foldable phone that we recommend to people who normally call themselves early adopters but held out on last year's Fold 2. These fence-sitters will be swayed by its S Pen support, greater durability and water-resistance in an otherwise familiar-looking foldable with unchanged cameras. It’s still expensive, but starts at a slightly lower price than its predecessors, meaning it's ideal for early adopters who have been waiting on the sidelines.

Samsung’s third-generation foldable looks and feels more like a mainstream product VS a glorified proof of concept thanks to several much-needed improvements. Its price is more palatable too – though it’s still pretty far from being priced the same as other mainstream flagships offered in the Philippines.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 looks like the best foldable phone yet, with a more durable design and S Pen support, and the multitasking features are even better. You need a case to store the stylus and the cameras are not upgraded, but overall the Z Fold 3 looks very promising for power users.

Without the latest firmware and the liberty to put these devices through their paces, these first impressions were all we could take away from the demo session. However, it’s also clear that Samsung’s confident with their latest offerings, given how comprehensive each device is. Water-resistant everything? Foldable phone with S Pen support? A watch that tells you how fat you are? Proper noise cancellation for its true wireless earbuds? We can’t wait to get our hands on the review units.

Lisa Gade covers what’s new (and what isn’t) in Samsung’s 2021 folding phones, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3. The phones are $200 less than their predecessors, and will be available unlocked as well as from all major carriers (with some strong pre-order incentives). The Z Flip 3 has a significant redesign, with a larger outer display, a 120Hz folding ultra-thin glass 6.7” AMOLED inner display and a new look. The Z Fold 3 gets S Pen support and a stronger inner display. Both have 5G and run Android 11 with One UI 3.1 on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor. We’ll have detailed individual full reviews of both phones in the future.

If you didn't watch it last night, we got it covered for you. In this article, we are just briefly going to list down the 5 features that we like so far on both the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G and Galaxy Z Flip3 5G. Let's get right into it!

There’s plenty to love about the Galaxy Fold 3. It’s incredibly well-built with good looks to match, and its screens are things of visual – not to mention, engineering – beauty. The promise of S Pen and multitasking tricks, coupled with more powerful innards, point towards a blisteringly fast flagship experience. For a device that costs £1,599, you’d certainly hope so. Having said that, we’re a little sad to see no forward progress in the camera department, making this seem like less of an upgrade for Z Fold 2 owners. That said, the Z Fold 3 is launching at a price £200 cheaper than its predecessor. We’re looking forward to properly adopting the Z Fold 3 and pushing it to its limits. We’ll see you back here for our final definitive review, very soon.

After what seemed like an endless string of rumors and leaks, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is finally a reality. Samsung announced the third-generation folding phone along with the Galaxy Z Flip 3 at a virtual Unpacked event on Wednesday. Both phones prove that Samsung hasn't given up on foldables. In fact, the Z Fold 3 angles to be the best foldable phone you can buy. Last year's Galaxy Z Fold 2 addressed many of the issues people had with the original Fold. Yet, despite a much-needed infusion of premium features and specs, the Z Fold 2 still needed to earn our trust. The second Fold left a lot of us wanting a foldable that felt more like a phone and less like an experiment.

For ordinary consumers, the price of Samsung Z Fold 3 is still very expensive, and ordinary consumers simply cannot afford it. The highlight of the Samsung Z Fold 3 this time is mainly the upgrade of the external screen, internal processor, under-screen camera, and stylus support.

By ditching the Note in favour of this high-end, high-priced phone, Samsung clearly believes now is the time for foldables to go mainstream. I like the company’s confidence, even if I’m yet to be fully convinced of the benefits.

As we saw with the original Galaxy Fold, however, the real proof is in the review. Given how durable the revamped Fold and the Z Fold 2 were for me, coupled with all the changes Samsung has made to vastly improve the durability of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 suggests it can deliver on its abundance of promise. Yet, at a starting price of $1,799, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the most expensive smartphone you can buy today and not much cheaper than the Galaxy Z Fold 2, which started at $1,980. Despite this huge price tag, you don’t get a charger in the box; charging tops out at 25W wired, and this is slow charging compared to where the industry as a whole is.

At first glance, the Z Fold 3 seems practically unbreakable and a worthy update that may finally tempt iOS-lovers into the foldable Android realm. We found the user experience both enjoyable, slicker than the previous Fold and more intuitive. Initially at least, the Fold 3 could be the most convincing argument yet for opening up to a Samsung Galaxy flagship smartphone.

Although it's not massively different to its predecessor, Samsung still continues to deliver the most complete foldable experience on the market. Any foldable inevitably comes with its share of issues - here screen reflections and creases - but for sheer show-off factor the Z Fold 3's uninterrupted view, thanks to its under panel camera (UPC), is a marvel of what modern technology can deliver.

In general, this year’s Galaxy Z devices are really only evolutionary upgrades over last year’s options. While the Z Flip 3 has seen what I would call larger differentiation through the larger secondary display and camera rearrangement, the Z Fold 3, beyond the camera island redesign, can also only be really differentiated through the new under-screen inner front camera module.

The other big improvement is the move to the 5nm Snapdragon 888 chipset, which is paired to 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The rest of the Galaxy Z Flip3 5G is a rehash of the Galaxy Z Flip 5G - a 3,300mAh battery, two 12MP cameras for wide and ultrawide, a 10MP selfie on the inside and a side-mounted fingerprint reader. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G starts at €1,049/£949 and will go on sale later this month.

The Z Fold 3 looks and feels like a premium foldable and even based on the short amount of time I spent with the device, it’s definitely a Note-worthy flagship. On the other hand, the Z Flip 3 offers great specs and, more so than ever before, feels like a real flagship with few notable compromises. The 256GB Z Fold 3 costs $2,269 and the 512GB variant costs $2,409 (Phantom Black only). The Z Fold 3 is available in ‘Phantom Silver,’ ‘Phantom Black’ and ‘Phantom Green.’ The 128GB Z Flip 3 is priced at $1,259 and the 256GB variant (Phantom Black only) costs $1,329.99. The Z Flip 3 is available in ‘Cream,’ ‘Green,’ ‘Lavender,’ and ‘Phantom Black.’ Samsung is also launching exclusive colours, including ‘Gray,’ ‘White’ and ‘Pink,’ but it’s currently unclear if they will launch in Canada.

As you can see, there are so many multitasking features that can appeal to any user. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 phone is also suitable for gamers and smartphone lovers. It could be an innovative model in the smartphone industry. There has been a buzz for a few months about this model. If you want to eliminate boredom using the traditional smartphone and want to change it, Fold 3 can be a good choice. On the other hand, it might be a bad choice because of its average camera and battery. Whether you’re a gamer who plays long hours of games, you’ll be uncomfortable with the battery life. At the same time, you will never get the same result that a 108 MP gives. If you’re looking for an alternative, it’s hard to recommend a folding phone with many disadvantages. You can check the new Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 smartphone with many advanced features at a decent price range.
