The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 is an excellent Android tablet. It's fast, long-lasting, beautiful to look at and comfortable to hold. The cameras are good enough to make taking photos and video calls with your tablet seem fun, and the packed-in S Pen is a nice touch that works well. That said, the Galaxy Tab S8 can't match the performance or display quality of most modern iPads. With Samsung's DeX mode enabled the Galaxy Tab S8 is a more feasible laptop replacement than nearly any iPad, but even for its reasonable starting price of $838 with keyboard you can get a more capable Windows laptop like the Asus Zenbook 13 OLED. The Galaxy Tab S8 is good at a lot of things, but it's best at being a premium Android tablet.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 sets a new standard for premium Android tablets. This is the successor to 2020's Samsung Galaxy Tab S7, which we called the best iPad Pro rival — and one of the best tablets, period — on the market. But that was two years ago, and in the interim, Apple redefined what we expect from pro-grade tablets with the phenomenal 2021 iPad Pros. Samsung has also stepped up its tablet game, launching the Tab S8 alongside two larger, OLED-equipped models: A slightly improved Tab S8 Plus and the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, a massive 14.6-inch Android tablet with a screen large enough to overshadow the iPad Pro. So where does that leave the Galaxy Tab S8? Its 11-inch LCD screen is bright and responsive, but it can't match the 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2021's dazzling mini-LED display. But while it's not fair to call the Tab S8 a real iPad Pro rival any longer, it is an elegant, performant and power-efficient slate that doesn't mar the strengths of Android 12 with too much Samsung tech.

The Galaxy Tab S8 is an impressive premium Android tablet option, though you should be careful to check that you don’t need a little more – or a little less. With a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, plenty of RAM and storage, and S Pen stylus support this is a powerful productivity option, and there are really no tablets available now that pack more power – at least not ones that run Android. It’s a shame that the display is only LCD, rather than AMOLED, but this will only really matter to creative power users or serious cinephiles – this is a perfectly good LCD panel otherwise. US customers may gripe that there’s no 5G option, while UK ones will likely bemoan the fact that the 5G upgrade costs so much, but if you’re happy to stick to Wi-Fi then the Tab S8 has few faults.

On the couch its great for gaming or reading comics, and at work it's nice to have as a note-keeping device or secondary display, especially if you go to the trouble of investing in the Galaxy ecosystem and making your workspace DeX-friendly.

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S8 is a fine tablet despite the quirks of its display aspect ratio and the limitations of the Android operating system. It’s bundled with an excellent stylus, is easy to handle or pack for travel, and has strong battery life. I enjoyed my time with the tablet. Yet the Galaxy Tab S8 is hard to recommend. It’s slower than Apple’s 5th-gen iPad Air, is saddled with a less impressive app ecosystem, and struggles within the limitations of Android. Longevity is also an issue. I’m confident the 5th-gen Air will be useful in five years (my personal tablet is a 2017 iPad Pro 10.5, and it works great). Samsung, by contrast, tends to support its tablets for only a few years. The Galaxy Tab S8 will appeal to Android fans who want a solid tablet and a great stylus at a reasonable price. If you’re not allergic to Apple, however, an iPad is a better choice.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 is one hell of an offering if you do not compare it with iPads. This is the maximum potential that an Android tablet can offer you at this price point and let us leave it at that. My personal experience with the tablet was rather marvelous over the period of a week that I used it. Moreover, if this is your first high-end tablet and you have never used an iPad before, you will totally love it. Apple has set a benchmark in the tablet segment with their iPads (especially the ones running on the latest M1, M1 Pro and M1 Max chipsets) that is extremely hard to beat. However, if you like the freedom of Android and joy of being able to download third-party applications easily, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 is for you. Besides, if you are on a tight budget and the base model is all you can go for, so be it. You get the latest and greatest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 anyway with a large 11-inch display. Not to mention that there is 8GB of RAM and at least 128GB of internal storage. Additionally, the S-Pen works seamlessly well and will further add to the whole premium Android tablet experience.

The Galaxy Tab S8 lineup offers a range of premium Android tablets for a variety of use-cases, from a mobile entertainment/media device to a portable productivity machine and something in-between. While Samsung currently owns the premium Android tablet space, the company hasn’t been complacent in its market domination. The Tab S8 and its brethren pack all the specs and features you’d expect and more at prices that compete with Apple’s tablet offerings. Even if you aren’t married to the Android platform, we think the Tab S8 is worth recommending.

After years of not seeing a great reason to buy an Android tablet, I have to admit that Samsung has presented a compelling pitch this time around — provided you are already in the Samsung Android ecosystem. The Tab S8 and S8 Plus integrate well enough with other Samsung products, they are excellent hardware on their own merits, and if you have specific use cases that are poorly served by Apple’s strict control over iOS, these tablets might just be what you’re looking for. Samsung still has some work to do fleshing out its ecosystem, and hopefully, Google’s renewed interest in Android tablets will produce better third-party app support (I’m not holding my breath there, though). And it’s a bummer that if you have a Pixel or other Android phone, you can’t really take advantage of a lot of the integrations Samsung has developed. But I think the biggest hurdle with the Tab S8 and S8 Plus as they are is their pricing. These are premium tablets with big price tags — especially once you start to add accessories to them.

The Galaxy Tab S8 from Samsung, in its range, is surely one of the best offerings from the company. It competes with the iPad in several aspects and does prove to be an all-rounder, be it in terms of performance, design, or the overall experience of using a premium tablet.

The Galaxy Tab S8 is best described as an entertainment device that can sometimes double up as your workstation. Indeed, if watching videos, making video calls, or playing games is what you want to do on a tablet, the Galaxy Tab S8 is excellent. But for work or for drawing with the S Pen, the 11-inch screen might feel a little cramped to some. On the other hand, the more compact dimensions do have the advantage of letting you carry the tablet around more comfortably. If that’s something that attracts you, the Galaxy Tab S8 is actually a great pick, as it can do everything its siblings can even if it doesn’t provide the absolute best experience. Plus, its price tag is the lowest, and that has to count for something, right?

So, what do you think of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 series? In our opinion, the large 14.6-inch Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra (RM5,899) is your best bet if you want an alternative to a Windows laptop. If you're fine with a smaller screen, the Galaxy Tab S8 (RM3,299) could be a better deal. However, since all of them weigh well below 800gm and are 5.5mm to 6.3mm thin, all of them are super portable and easy to carry about. If you're interested, it's even better that Samsung is now holding a promotion till 31 March 2022. During this period, you get to enjoy freebies worth up to RM1,887* when purchasing a Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 series tablet! Not only do you get a free Book Cover Keyboard and S Pen worth RM1738 (already included in the box), but also a Neoprene Pouch worth RM149. In addition, you can get also get 30% off on a Samsung Care+ 1 year protection plan (worth up to RM330).

If you're invested in Android apps or just really don't like Apple or Windows products, the Galaxy Tab S8 (and the other models in the lineup) offers more power for creativity and productivity than any other Android tablet. But the Tab S8 is pricey, especially if you start adding accessories; the combination of the entry-level $699 model, a $199 keyboard, and a mouse takes you close to the $1,000 range. And although you can cheap out with a $65 Logitech K780 Multi-Device Keyboard, a $15 generic wireless mouse, and a $20 Fintie slim case from Amazon, the assemblage then becomes pretty kludgy. The other problem is that the Tab S8 simply doesn't offer as premium an experience as iPads and Windows tablets. Creative types don't have as many apps at their disposal, and Samsung's Dex mode isn't ready for full-scale productivity. Ultimately, the pricing is a Samsung problem and the apps are an Android problem. If you're willing to look beyond Android, the $599 HP Chromebook X2 ($599) includes a keyboard and a pen, so while it's noticeably slower than the Tab S8, it's substantially more affordable.

The Galaxy Tab S8 has surprised me with its appeal over the past few weeks and has exceeded my expectations. It's not a major upgrade over the Tab S7 with the same form factor, but it does have the latest and greatest processor, improved cameras on the front and back, and improved S Pen latency. For those looking for a tablet companion to their laptop and smartphone, the Tab S8 is a worthy option and with a microSD card, you could choose the $699.99 entry model and likely have all you need. Remember, Samsung throws in the S Pen too so unlike Apple you won't have to pay another $100 plus for the stylus.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 and Tab S8 Plus are remarkably limited upgrades compared to 2020’s Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab S7 Plus. If you’re after an Android tablet, this will likely be a top choice for 2022 – we’ll know at the time of full review - but it isn’t worth upgrading from Samsung’s last release.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 and Tab S8 Plus are among the company’s latest choices for top-end tablets and were revealed alongside the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Ultra and the new Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. The standard Tab S8 products that we’re reviewing are the cheapest members of the new tablet family that also includes that larger screen Tab S8 Ultra. Both these tablets are remarkably similar, so we’ve combined our coverage of each into one hands-on review. Now that we’ve had some time with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 and Tab S8 Plus here’s everything we’ve learned so far about the tablets, along with our first thoughts of how each runs and what you can expect if you buy one. The Galaxy Tab S8 has been an impressive tablet based on my initial experiences, with a sharp and responsive screen, incredible internal specs, and a robust but attractive design. We’re looking forward to putting it through our rigorous testing period to see just how good it is in real-world use, to see if it lives up to this early promise.

On the one hand the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 is a little disappointing in that it's almost identical to the Tab S7 that came 18 months prior. But to solely see it in that way would be shortsighted: for the Tab S8 is a true premium Android tablet with great design and top-end power, which is a relatively rare commodity in this market. However, if you want a larger screen then the 12.4-inch AMOLED panel of the Tab S8+ might be yet more appealing, while we find the 14.6-inch panel of the Tab S8 Ultra to be to excess for a pure tablet product (fine as a laptop alternative, however, if that's more your aim).

Other features are mostly the same across all three tablets. All three share the same rear camera arrangement consisting of a 13-megapixel main shooter with autofocus, a 6-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and LED flash. On the front, the Galaxy Tab S8+ and Galaxy Tab S8 utilize a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, whereas the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra adds a second 12-megapixel camera to the fray. All three also pump out sound through four AKG speakers with Dolby Atmos support. Other shared features include Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 wireless connectivity, a USB 3.2 Type-C port (DisplayPort out), and a included S-Pen. As for the battery, there's a 11,200mAh pack in the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, 10,090 mAh in the Galaxy Tab S8+, and 8,000 mAh in the Galaxy Tab, all three with fast-charging support. Samsung’s out for iPad blood, with the Tab S8 and S8 Plus taking on the iPad Pro 11 and 12.9. The pluckiest move from Samsung is probably announcing one of iPad OS’s most loved apps, LumaFusion for its Tabs. It’s been no secret that Android tablets just haven’t been able to compete with iPads when it comes to apps and interface, so this could mark the beginning of a two-horse race – finally.

Qualcomm Adreno 730:
