There’s a lot to like about the Tab S7 FE, which impresses with its high-end design and excellent battery life. But the performance and display aren’t as impressive as Samsung’s newer tablets, so it’s only worth considering if you can find it with a big discount.

With the Galaxy Tab S7 FE, Samsung is trying to have its cake and eat it too. This tablet banks on the raw appeal of the refined hardware and large screen to sell the idea of productivity. At the same time, Samsung cut a little too deeply when trimming back the specs, which hurts the Tab S7 FE where it matters most: performance. Samsung’s mid-range tablet is a gorgeous metal and glass slab that covers most of its bases well. The chassis and display are excellent, the software and included S Pen are powerful, and the battery life is near the best in the business. The speakers pack a punch and the Tab S7 FE is great for catching a movie on Netflix. Yet, the 5G model we tested fell a bit short in a few areas, such as sluggish apps which impacted multitasking, and mediocre cameras. The performance of the Snapdragon 750G, in particular, is disappointing and may slow down over time. More importantly, some competing tablets simply provide more bang for the buck — especially the iPad Air (2022) and Samsung’s own Galaxy Tab S8

On the other hand, if you want to use this for work that involves a lot of word processing, without an all-in-one keyboard solution, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE just feels handicapped. You will need to carry a Bluetooth keyboard and a mobile stand to prop the device up, on top of the device itself. Also, it doesn’t help that there is no 4G LTE version for mobile connectivity. My recommendation if you’re not too particular with the operating system would be to get Apple’s base model iPad if you want something compact for work. The iPad starts from RM1,499 for the 64GB model and offers Apple’s A13 Bionic processor. This processor, though old, is a flagship processor that used to outperform every other mobile processor in its day. It can handle a lot more than the Snapdragon 778G can and will continue to receive software support for longer than the Galaxy Tab S7 FE. Furthermore, for an additional RM220 over the starting price of the Galaxy Tab S7 FE, you can get an 4G LTE version of the iPad, which will give you the flexibility of working from anywhere.

Samsung's been trying to make the Galaxy Tab S-series slates a big deal for a while, and if its recent Tab S6 Lite was the company's first true home run, the Tab S7 is another homer with a couple of runners on base. From its excellent bright and sharp screen to its top-tier design, this is a tablet that Apple fans may call an iPad Pro clone, but it's one that Android users need to consider. If only the Tab S7's keyboard wasn't so awkward, and its Snapdragon 865+ could keep up with the big guns that Intel and Apple have trotted out, this could be the best tablet around. Those looking for speed and tablet-optimized apps should consider the Surface Pro 7, but the Core i5 model we tested costs $460 more at $1,109, and lasts a lot less time on a single charge. And while the iPad Pro's Magic Keyboard provides a joyful typing experience, the combined package costs $250 more than the Tab S7 with its keyboard — and Apple doesn't throw in a stylus like Samsung does. So, for a mid to high-end tablet, we have to give Samsung credit for giving you some serious bang for your buck.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE is a really appealing tablet. By offering a big, bright screen in a cinematically suitable aspect ratio, it immediately stands out against the competition. Sacrifices have been made, though, and while the screen is big, it’s lacking the sophistication of the best in class. The sound, meanwhile, suits movie soundtracks well but could be more crisp and punchy, and for every person who loves the S-Pen, we reckon there’ll be at least two or three who will never use it. All of that said, if big and bold is what you’re after from a tablet, this Samsung is a strong choice, particularly if you’re committed to the Android ecosystem.

After almost two weeks of use, the tablet left a mixed impression. I read a lot of comments on the internet saying that this tablet is useless because it is much slower than the S7, although both cost about the same. And yes, if you need more computing power and premium features like a fingerprint scanner, four speakers and a 120 Hz display, then the Galaxy Tab S7 is a much better choice for you. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE makes sense if you need a big screen and don’t require premium features like the S7 Plus or the 12.9-inch iPad Pro have, which are much more expensive. This is the main highlight of the Galaxy Tab S7 FE. At an average price, it offers a large and clear 12.4-inch display. The lower price is also due to a weaker processor and slower charging. You can say that, despite these compromises, you will get a high-quality tablet with a metal case, an S-Pen stylus and nice Samsung environment. You will also be pleased with a fairly good battery life and probably the ideal size of the display for work and multimedia consumption.

The Tab S7 FE is a predictably cautious release from Samsung. It retains the look and feel of the flagship Tab S7 and S7+, but makes big compromises in other areas. Dropping the display to a 60Hz LCD panel means the screen is pretty good, rather than one of the best you’ll find in any tablet. A chipset downgrade leads to sub-par performance while gaming, despite most other tasks being fine. It’s also heavier, with weaker cameras and two fewer speakers. Individually, these changes don’t make too much of a difference to the experience. But combined, it’s difficult not to feel like you’re getting short-changed. Superb battery life is the key exception to this and it’s nice to have an S Pen included in the box, but it’s no wonder Samsung is dropping the price just months after it launched. If you can find a great deal on the Tab S7 FE, it’s still worth picking up for content consumption and other basic tasks. Otherwise, you’ll find better value for money elsewhere.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE is basically the more affordable version of the Plus variant, losing out on some of the premium features but still giving you a great multimedia tablet experience. You get a good, large display, comes with the S Pen, stereo speaker setup, reliable performance, solid build quality, user-friendly UI, and the option of having 5G support. However, it does have similar drawbacks to the Plus variant as well as it doesn’t come with a 3.5mm headphone jack, and the rear does still get fingerprint smudges despite the finish. On top of that, it’s a shame that it doesn’t have a high refresh rate option, and the move from Super AMOLED to TFT is a bit of a letdown. Regardless, being priced from RM1,899 to RM2,199, it’s still a solid tablet nonetheless. At the end of our Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE review, we award this tablet with our Silver Pokdeward.

If you’re just looking for a better stylus or S Pen experience then the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is probably your best bet at RM1499. However, while it has an active S Pen stylus, it also has a smaller 10.4-inch display and an Exynos 9611 chipset. We don’t think you’ll need a more powerful chipset than the one on the Galaxy Tab S7 FE, but if you absolutely do, then there’s the Xiaomi Pad 5 which has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 chipset but smaller 11-inch display at around RM1399. If mobile productivity for you means Microsoft Windows, then the Surface Go 3 is now available for RM1888, but this variant is decidedly entry-level with just an Intel Pentium Gold 6500Y processor and 4GB of RAM (the Galaxy Tab S7 FE is a mix of premium and midrange). There’s also the Apple iPad at RM1499 but like the Surface Go 3, you will also need extra funds for a keyboard case and those aren’t cheap either.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE gets a lot right. It has an excellent build quality, comes with an S Pen in the box, and gets years of OS upgrades. It just isn't as powerful as its pricier competitors. If you just use your tablet to stream video or do general tasks, the Tab S7 FE is more than up to the task. If you're hoping to use it a laptop replacement, however, you'll probably want to spend more on a different model. Although the Galaxy Tab S7+ is pricier, it packs enough power to help you finish even the most demanding tasks. And if you aren't committed to Samsung and/or Android, the iPad Pro line remains a strong alternative.

As the tablets start to roll into Malaysia we have one new one coming in from Samsung, which is the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE (FE stands for Fan Edition). We’ve managed to get some time up close and personal with it, so here are our first impressions of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE tablet. Priced at RM1899, it’s safe to say that it is a lot more affordable than the much higher-end Galaxy Tab S7 Plus that it gets its name from, but they do share some similarities with the same 12.4-inch sized display. Both are also quite thin with the Galaxy Tab S7 FE coming in at just 6.3mm thin. It is a bit heavier at 608g but that’s still pretty light for a tablet of this size.

Despite my initial misgivings, the Galaxy Tab S7 FE turned out to be a tablet that performs better than its specs would suggest. Compared to the S7, it does fall short in some ways. Assuming you shell out an extra $70 to get the 6GB/128GB configuration, the Fan Edition will only save you about $50 against the S7 in exchange for significant compromises. But you can't discount that this gets you a 12.4-inch display, making it much more suited for DeX mode multitasking than the 11-inch S7. This Fan Edition tablet is only for a particular type of Samsung fan. But for that subset of users, I'd argue that the Galaxy Tab S7 FE won't let you down. I'll repeat one last thing for emphasis: ditch the 5G and take the RAM instead. You'll thank me later.

For our money, the $599 Wi-Fi model with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is the most economical and sensible choice.

The Tab S7 FE (Fan Edition) might not be quite as exciting as the Galaxy S20 FE in terms of high-end features, but it is a solid higher end Android 11 tablet for hundreds of dollars less than the Tab S7+ and iPad Pro 12.9”. It has 12.4” 2560 x 1600 TFT display, Wacom EMR S Pen with 4,096 pressure levels and tilt, a huge 10,900 mAh battery and is optionally available with 5G. The tablet is compatible with Samsung’s keyboard covers and we show it with the new $160 FE Keyboard Cover. Samsung DeX is supported. It has a 5MP front and rear 8MP camera that can shoot 1080p video.

The Galaxy Tab S7 FE isn't as deserving of the Fan Edition insignia as other Samsung devices, but it doesn't make it less of a tablet. We appreciated its premium metal design, large and high-res screen with excellent contrast, the good speakers and the long battery life it provides. The Tab S7 FE successfully offers the tablet and DeX experience the more expensive models are known for. And it has most of the cool S-Pen tricks, too. The base RAM and storage are laughable, too, for a slate that's supposed to be all about multi-tasking. There is only one real problem with the Galaxy Tab S7 FE, and it's the pricing. It costs as much as the flagship Tab S7 yet has much less to offer. And that's why we cannot recommend this Fan Edition. Not until Samsung decides on introducing some price cuts.

So, the multi-window experience here is good, although it might overwhelm the base 4GB of RAM. Naturally, the better choice would be to get at least the 6GB model. However, the higher the specs, the higher the price. And in our view, this laptop might not be worth that much. Especially given the fact that you can get the older Galaxy Tab S6 for a similar price. And for a little extra, there is the iPad Air. Of course, Samsung has the DeX function that turns your tablet into a desktop, and they give you the S Pen for free. However, the company is not short on shenanigans, as it supplies only a 15W charger instead of the 45W supported by the device.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE is a decent Android tablet, but it’s overpriced. There seems to be an assumption here that 12-inch tablets are inherently highly valuable because of their screen size, and Samsung takes this a little too far. However, if power isn’t a concern then there’s plenty to like. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE’s S-Pen is great, the screen is large and, despite using an LCD panel, it has some admirable characteristics including high peak brightness and deeper-than-sRGB colour.

To wrap up this review, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE is a great value-for-money tablet—especially in Nepal. Its closest competitor, the iPad 10.2 (2020) is costlier considering how this LTE-ready variant of Tab S7 FE also comes with a free stylus. So, if you’re in the market for a sub-premium Android tablet in Nepal, this is the one to get. Having said that, the Galaxy Tab S7 FE is far from perfect. One major thing that’s disappointed me here, is the lack of a flagship-grade chipset. Despite its potential to replace a laptop for many, the relatively underpowerful silicon keeps it from achieving its true potential. Still and all, Snapdragon 750G is a more-than-capable mid-range chip that will get you through your everyday lightweight workloads.

As far as things stand right now, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE faces competition mainly from the Apple iPad, and on the Android side of the fence, its own siblings. There aren’t many options available, especially in the large-screened tablet space. I’d probably count the Lenovo Tab P11 Pro as a rival too, and we’ll have a review out for that very soon. Overall though, the Tab S7 FE, for its starting price of Rs 46,999 (for the 4GB / 64GB variant), does seem like a pricey affair, especially considering the chipset it packs in. The 6GB / 128GB variant has been priced at Rs 50,999. The new keyboard cover will set you back by another Rs 14,999, but Samsung is offering a discount of Rs 10,000 for a limited period if you buy it along with a Galaxy Tab S7 FE. All said and done, the tablet ticks many of the right boxes, and its large, capable screen, combined with Samsung’s software ecosystem, DeX mode, bundled S Pen and long battery life make the Tab S7 FE worth a close, hard look.

Priced Rs 46,999 onwards, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE is an expensive tablet that justifies its worth when paired with keyboard cover for use as a laptop through the Samsung DeX computing platform. Though it cannot replace a full-fledged Microsoft Windows based laptop, the Galaxy Tab S7 FE can be seen as an alternative to Google Chromebooks. That said, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE justifies its tablet moniker but only in bits and pieces, and that is primarily because of the broken Google Android operating system for tablets. Yet, it makes one of the best Android tablets currently available in India, mainly for lack of options in the segment besides Samsung's own products.

The 6GB variant of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE, which I reviewed, costs Rs. 50,999, which is not too bad considering it has LTE and you get a stylus in the box. If you add the cost of the Book Cover Keyboard case, the total cost is more or less equivalent to buying a 128GB iPad (8th Gen), Apple Pencil, and Smart Keyboard. Of the two combos. If you are looking for a laptop replacement solution for basic productivity work, I think the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE with the optional keyboard case should fulfill most of your needs. It's not perfect and you'll probably need to adapt your workflow around Android's limitations, but it's still one of the most feature-rich solutions you can get at this price.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE is a good tablet, just not good enough to be given the Fan Edition label. You’re getting a massive screen with impressive sound quality, the best tablet software package on Android, excellent battery life, and the S Pen experience. If any of that sounds interesting to you, go ahead and buy the Galaxy Tab S7 FE. If you’re looking for a flagship-grade tablet at a relatively affordable price tag, you’re not going to find it here. You might as well save up and get the Galaxy Tab S7 (if you can find it in stock) instead – it’s got a 11-inch display that’s also not AMOLED and has a smaller battery, but everything else is miles better than what you’re getting on the Tab S7 FE.

I don’t see which “uncompromising flagship innovations” the Galaxy Tab S7 FE makes more accessible for buyers. It’s just a mid-range tablet with a large screen and a large battery, and it fails to justify the Fan Edition moniker. In my opinion, Samsung should’ve offered the Galaxy Tab S7 FE with an older flagship chip. That would’ve addressed the performance issues while keeping the cost low. Speaking of which, the Galaxy Tab S7 FE’s price tag also makes it hard to recommend. You can get a regular iPad or the iPad Air for a similar price. Both of those options undoubtedly offer better performance and they’re significantly better tablets overall. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 is also a much better purchase, and it’s often available at attractive discounts that bring its price down to the same level.

If you are someone who wants an expansive screen for consuming content and checking email, makes use of the S-Pen for jotting down notes, and needs computing power that meets your demand but wants a device that is portable and easy to carry, then the Galaxy Tab S7 FE fits the bill. At the same time, you must know its flaws, especially on the software side. If you are okay with that (this device does not support desktop-only apps), I think it’s worth looking at the Galaxy Tab S7 FE.

Qualcomm Adreno 619:
