However, our quibbles from last year remain. We wish for an upgraded camera system next year and faster charging speeds that can match some of the ultra-rapid charging speeds we’ve seen from Chinese flagship smartphones. Including the charger in the box also feels crucial seeing as its best rivals are also doing that. It's also a touch disappointing that Samsung has increased their prices this year, while not really offering a lot of upgrades. The Samsung Galaxy S24 starts from S$1,288, while its equivalent edition from last year was only S$1,148. Likewise, the Galaxy S24+ now starts from a hefty S$1,528, while its predecessor was only S$1,328.

The Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra all cater to slightly different needs. The S24 is perfect if you seek a compact device that doesn’t sacrifice on performance or high-end specs. Meanwhile, the S24+ adds a larger display and increased storage, making it more suitable if you are really into media consumption. However, everyone is now using cloud storage. On the other hand, the S24 Ultra offers extra camera features, titanium build, built-in S Pen, extraordinary camera capabilities and extensive storage options, which all makes it the ultimate choice here. But of course, the more capable devices are also more expensive. So, if you can easily afford to buy the Galaxy S24 Ultra, go ahead. You’ll get everything Samsung currently has to offer. However, if your budget doesn’t allow it or you simply prefer smaller devices, the standard Galaxy S24 is the best choice.

The Galaxy S24 is a great choice for Android fans, with exceptional battery life, top-notch performance, and a sleek design that can stand up to some abuse. It’s got almost enough features to be called Ultra, instead packed into a smaller phone that’s easy to pocket and use one-handed. It has all the new Galaxy AI and Google circle-to-search features, as well as Samsung’s aging and overcomplicated software. The cameras aren’t as great as some competitors in this range, but it has more zoom than the iPhone 15, and Samsung gives you plenty of cool shooting modes to make your pics look great. With a promise of seven years of Android updates, this could be the best affordable Galaxy S phone Samsung has offered in quite a while.

No, because although it has the capability to perform just as well as the big bad wolf of the series, the S24 Ultra, the S24 Plus and the S24 are let down by throttling issues in resource-hungry tasks, and in the case of the S24 specifically, battery life as well. Even though the Exynos 2400 SoC can go toe to toe with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Samsung has its work cut out to make it just as efficient and resource-friendly. In every other criterion though, the S24 and the S24 Plus are indeed almost as good as the S24. They have a pretty solid build that is only trumped by the S24 Ultra’s Corning Armor glass and the titanium frame. They have a design that screams premium just like their elder brother, Galaxy AI is practically the same, and in day-to-day performance, the non-Ultra devices are just as capable as the Ultra.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 isn’t the most exciting generational update – it’s just too similar to its predecessor, I can’t imagine many Galaxy S23 owners will want to upgrade. That said, the improvements made here aren’t just for the sake of it. The matt finish looks and feels better than the glossy Galaxy S23 series, the screen is a definite improvement, and the Exynos processor trades blows with the best that Qualcomm has to offer. Then, there are all the AI features. Some of these are undeniably useful, some come into play less often, and some are just plain fun. However, I didn’t find them to be impactful enough to be a deciding factor when choosing a phone. Maybe that’ll change as the software develops. While I might crave some hardware upgrades, especially in the camera department, the fact remains that the Samsung Galaxy S24 is one of the best compact flagships available.

The Samsung Galaxy S24’s global battery score was slightly lower than that of its predecessor Samsung Galaxy S23, due to a small decrease in autonomy and efficiency performance. Equipped with a slightly bigger battery than its predecessor and the latest Snapdragon chipset, the Galaxy S24’s autonomy was below average, lasting slightly more than 2 days when used moderately, When testing specific usages, the results varied. Battery performance was also quite impressive when testing with the screen on such as streaming videos and gaming. However, the device struggled in music streaming and most of the outdoor activities. The charging experience was mixed, but overall below average and little changed from the S23’s performance. Wired charging took longer than average at 1 hour and 39 minutes to fully replenish the battery.

With the fantastic specifications that the Samsung Galaxy S24 has, it’d likely sit at the top of most companies smartphone ranges. If you favour a smaller phone, too, but don’t want to compromise too much on great specs than it’s also heartening to see that you don’t get “punished” for having the smaller device. While the only difference between the S24 and the S24+ its size (which also means battery sizes aren’t the same too), there’s more of a bigger difference between the S24 and the S24 Ultra. With the S24 you get a lower resolution main sensor, no macro mode and only three lenses instead of four. Colours are vibrant and punchy without being over the top. Image credit: Amy Dvaies Galaxy S24 · f/1.8 · 1/180s · 5.4mm · ISO64 The main sensor and the lack of a fourth lens isn’t really a problem but it’s a big shame not to have a macro option at this price point.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 performed well for a range of attributes in the DXOMARK Camera evaluation. Overall, our testers observed some nice improvements over the previous S-series generation in photo mode, but video mode showed some room for improvement. Photo exposure was well-balanced across all test conditions, Samsung’s HDR technology offered pleasant and faithful contrast in bright light and indoors, and the autofocus system ensured sharp subjects in most scenes. However, some limitations were noticeable. The camera had difficulties capturing the precise moment in fast-moving scenes with a high dynamic range or in low light. Images also showed significant noise levels that were higher than on the S24 Ultra and even the predecessor S23. The S24 offers a tele camera module with an equivalent focal length of 67mm, in addition to an ultra-wide camera.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 is a flagship compact phone and has plenty of competition in its price range. Its main competitors are the Apple iPhone 15 (Review), the Google Pixel 8 (Review), the OnePlus 12 (Review), the Vivo X100, the newly launched Xiaomi 14 (Review), and the Galaxy S23 (Review). I've mentioned the latter because there aren't any major upgrades with the new phone. You get a better display, a slightly bigger battery, a new chipset, and slightly improved cameras. Apple's iPhone 15 is not as much of an all-rounder as the Galaxy S24, as it lacks a telephoto camera. Still, the performance and battery life on the iPhone 15 surely is better. The Pixel 8 is not really great when it comes to performance, but you get good cameras, a bigger battery, similar compact size, Google software and AI features, and it is also a little cheaper.

All the models in the Galaxy S24 series are equipped with the same audio specs, and performance results were relatively similar among all three models, except for a few minor differences. For example in playback, the S24’s sound was quite bright, but it lacked some bass and low-midrange. Upper treble was a bit resonant and not particularly pleasant. In recording, all three devices provided very good audio-zoom performance. While it impresses in certain ways, the £799/$799 Galaxy S24 feels quite outdated in other areas. There are so many excellent Android phones on the market that have the S24 beaten for camera (the Pixel 8, for example) and display (the OnePlus 12 is only £50 more or the same price in $) that you’ve got to really like what Samsung is offering to plump for this. It’s clear the focus of Samsung’s attention has been on the Ultra series. That’s where the screen, camera and design innovations end up, and for the most part, they rarely seem to trickle down to the more affordable options. The lack of camera changes with the Galaxy S24 is a real shame. For the right person though, the Galaxy S24 can still be a great phone. The size is its main selling point, and it’s one of the few remaining Android phones that’s powerful and not massive. You are also getting 7 years of OS updates, far more than the likes of OnePlus, Xiaomi and Oppo offer. This is a phone that could last until Android 21 arrives, and that’s great news.

Unlike past years, where the chipset was consistent across three models, this year’s Galaxy S24 series only sees the Galaxy S24 Ultra getting Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for its chipset. As it stands, the Galaxy S24+ cannot become a true “no stylus” alternative for the Galaxy S24 series, since it’s not the same processor (Exynos 2400). As far as we can tell during our trials, all three models are equally quick at handling Galaxy AI-related tasks. If your only concern is the number of milliseconds it needs to edit your photos or translate your calls, the three phones are all viable choices. Unfortunately, a hands-on session also meant that we didn’t get to see benchmarks, so we can’t tell you if the performance differences between Exynos or Snapdragon chipsets are apparent in other areas (like bootup, gaming, etc.).

Samsung Galaxy S24’s base variant with 256GB storage is priced at Rs 79,999, while the top-end 512GB variant is priced in India at Rs 89,999. Apart from the iPhone 15, the handset also competes against Android offerings like the OnePlus 12 (review) and Vivo X100 (review). However, its true rival has to be the Pixel 8 (review). Although limited, the Pixel 8 also boasts several AI photo and video editing features, and unlike Samsung, Google hasn’t announced its plans to end free access to these features yet! Nevertheless, the Samsung smartphone emerges as a better overall smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy S24 doesn’t throttle as much as the Pixel 8. Additionally, the handset delivers a crisp visual experience, commendable cameras, and a premium feel without compromising on functionality. While the battery life may not be the most impressive, the Samsung Galaxy S24 emerges as a top contender in its category.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 is aiming for a superior experience over its competitors rather than value. After using the Samsung Galaxy S24, I was flattered by the smartphone's size and display offerings. Although there is nothing new in the design, it still feels quite premium and stylish in hand. Apart from its portrait and zooming capabilities, there is nothing about the smartphone that I did not like. Be it gaming, multitasking, AI features, and more, Samsung has beautifully crafted the Samsung Galaxy S24. The S24 is a fair competitor of the iPhone 15 and the Google Pixel 8. A compact smartphone is a rarity today. And buyers looking for such a device still prefer to get not just a convenient, but also a good device. And Samsung Galaxy S24 can provide this perfectly. Even if it is inferior in some components to the "older" models of the line, it will be difficult to call it a major drawback. In addition, the smartphone works really well and is equipped with almost everything you need for everyday work and entertainment. As always in such situations, owners of a couple of previous generations are unlikely to need to upgrade right now. And for those who do need a new small smartphone, the Galaxy S24 is a great choice.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 is a subtle evolution over the Galaxy S23, but small improvements to the design, display, and stamina combine to produce a worthy successor. The Galaxy S24 is a remarkably easy phone to live with, once you’ve performed the usual One UI adjustments. It’s also the most accessible way to sample Samsung’s exciting new suite of AI tools, several of which are spookily powerful and even downright useful. Add in a return to a more palatable price, and you have another elite compact flagship phone from Samsung.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 offers incremental upgrades from its predecessor – the Galaxy S23 – without revolutionary changes. The brighter, larger LTPO 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X display and Armor Aluminum 2 frame with a matte finish are notable improvements. One UI 6.1 enhances functionality, alongside the Galaxy AI features, though still evolving. Seven years of software support is a strong selling point as well. The Exynos 2400 chipset, while closer to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in performance than ever before, faces throttling and heat management challenges. The S24 remains a compact flagship, appealing to those seeking a smaller device and Samsung’s latest technology. However, for those seeking alternatives or dissatisfied with Exynos, exploring other options might be wise until pricing stabilises.

Galaxy AI took center stage at the first Unpacked event of the year. In fact, Samsung barely touched upon the hardware specs, opting to flaunt the capabilities stemming from its cosy partnership with Google instead. Galaxy AI is powered by Google Cloud, unless you’ve toggled the “process data only on device” setting under ‘advanced intelligence.’ In that case, these AI features run locally on the Exynos 2400 (more on the chip later).

It’s also the most accessible way to sample Samsung’s exciting new suite of AI tools, several of which are spookily powerful and even downright useful. Add in a return to a more palatable price, and you have another elite compact flagship phone from Samsung.

With a starting price of Rs 79,999, the Samsung Galaxy S24 offers a compelling entry point into the Samsung premium smartphones. Boasting a compact form factor, advanced camera system, vibrant display, and innovative features such as Galaxy AI and DeX computing, the device caters to discerning consumers seeking a blend of performance and convenience. While not without its flaws, the Galaxy S24's strengths outweigh its limitations, making it a worthy contender in its price range.

I don't think people realized it, but phones getting bigger started off as more of a form following function. I mean Steve Jobs even used the words "we've made something wonderful for your hand" when the first iPhone was launched, mainly because the original idea was for your phone to be ergonomic. I seriously wonder if Samsung ever thought the first Galaxy Note would ever become the phenomenon that it was. It's funny in retrospect that all of us in the media mocked the concept of using a phone that big, only for the market to force even Apple to follow the trend. Now I say form follows function because at first it really was just a concept, which then evolved into the need of giving users more endurance, since battery technology hasn't really shrunk in a decade. At the time you picked the big phone because you wanted it to last longer, but I'm sure many of you still struggle with handling it every day.

While the Samsung Galaxy S24 isn't a major update over its predecessor, all things considered it's a better-looking handset thanks to decreased screen bezel and a marginally larger resulting screen. There's also a slight battery capacity enhancement – although it's still not great in this department – and it's actually cheaper than the S23 was when it went on sale. Sure, the Galaxy S24 might not reinvent the wheel, but if you're looking for a small-scale Android phone then Samsung's flagship impresses.

By delivering an amalgam of instantly recognizable design, tough build with an official rating for water resistance, top-tier hardware with matching performance, and cutting-edge platform experience with handy AI-enhanced bits, the Galaxy S24 and S24+ are the best Android phones for most consumers and, again, formidable iPhone alternatives for those who aren’t invested in Apple’s ecosystem. The phones also debuted alongside an excellent selection of cases for protecting and customizing them. I tip my hat to Samsung for partnering with Google to deliver advanced AI features to its latest phones. The tech giant’s promise of 7 years’ worth of timely platform and security updates is also remarkable and on par with Google’s support for the latest Pixel phones.

Ah, the age-old question—how do Samsung’s affordable flagships stack up? Well, as for the Plus variants, they’ve always felt like the awkward middle child to me. They’re essentially just larger versions of the regular S-series, offering a tad more battery life and screen real estate. But when you’re shelling out a grand for the S24+, it’s hard not to think you might as well snag the S24 Ultra or even last year’s S23 Ultra at a lower price point, especially since the S23 series is also set to receive all those fancy AI features. Now, onto the S24. In my book, it takes the cake as the top compact flagship on the market right now for us regular folks. It boasts a stellar display, the coziest feel in your hands, top-notch flagship cameras, blazing performance, and let’s not forget about those years of promised updates and those sweet AI features sprinkled on top.

The Galaxy S24 is the only phone you should be looking at if you want an Android flagship that is suitable for one-handed use. The well-rounded experience it provides is only matched by its predecessor, the Galaxy S23. If you can find the Galaxy S23 for a considerably lower price, by all means, get that as it still holds up well. Otherwise, grab the Galaxy S24, we can promise you won't regret it.

Yes, this phone does lack a few things compared to its larger sibling, but for the first time ever, I can't really say that what it's missing are things I wish I had. Sure, I'd love more RAM, but I never felt this phone bogged down. If anything, I'd say that matters for aging if you plan to hold onto it longer cause performance was smooth. Yes, we're missing a couple of extra Ultra cameras, but I rarely zoom to subjects beyond 3X anyway. The bottom line is that this is a large display on a small footprint. Ergonomics are so good I can reach all corners with my thumb. These new colors and the new flat finish look so much more elegant. If you're in the market for a great smartphone but you don't wanna pay a grand, or you really want an easy phone to handle that'll last all day, this is it.

That's it again, the detailed review of the Samsung Galaxy S24. To make a long story short: The S24 offers only subtle changes to its predecessor. These include a slightly larger display (now with LTPO technology), a slightly larger battery, the advantage of which is immediately negated by the energy-hungry processor, the Galaxy AI artificial intelligence, and a lower price. The Samsung Galaxy S24 (please only with 256 GB) is therefore an absolutely recommendable Android smartphone with a full seven-year update guarantee! However, if you want to save a lot of money, I recommend the Samsung Galaxy S23, which has identical cameras, lasts just as long in terms of battery life, and will also soon get the "still" free AI. Don't get me wrong: Samsung hasn't done anything seriously wrong with the S24. Unfortunately, it hasn't improved much either—and the exciting AI features will also be coming to the predecessor in the first half of the year. But of course: What else—apart from the battery—should Samsung have improved?

The Samsung Galaxy S24 nearly matched the display performance of the top-of-the-line S24 Ultra, thanks to achieving two top scores in readability and touch, but the smaller device was held back due to its management of artifacts. Even though the devices have key differences, mainly in size, chipset, and glass, the Galaxy S24’s display behavior was very similar to that of the Ultra version. The 6.2-inch S24, like the 6.7-inch S24+, was released with the latest version of Samsung’s in-house chip, Exynos 2400, while the 6.8-inch S24 Ultra sports Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The S24’s glass protection is the same as the one used on the S23 series, whereas the S24 Ultra’s display has glass reinforced with anti-reflective properties, which played a role in artifacts management.

The Galaxy S24 is clearly not a huge upgrade and its most advertized new features - Galaxy AI - is coming to older Galaxy models via a software update soon. But there are new features to be excited about. We prefer the new design, we like the faster fingerprint scanner, we can appreciate the changes in image quality this year, and the aforementioned AI is really cool. The Galaxy also now has a better screen and we love that it gets both bright and dim at night, so it's easier on the eyes. If we had one wish, that would be for Samsung to bring the reflection-free screen from the S24 Ultra to this smaller model. But overall, the improvements made here are welcome. Galaxy S23 owners certainly should not see much of a rush to upgrade, but those coming from older models will appreciate the novelty in the Galaxy S24 and its unchanged $800 price tag.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 is a perfectly capable small phone with a high-end processor and a premium build. We’re also fans of its quality camera stack and AI features. The S24 Ultra is our Editors' Choice in the Galaxy lineup thanks to its S Pen stylus, increased durability, and additional camera zoom, but it costs $500 more than the base Galaxy S24 and is much larger. When it comes to one-handed devices under $800, the Pixel 8 slightly edges out the Galaxy S24 with its lower price and better camera quality. But if you want more processing power or longer battery life, the Galaxy S24 is a worthy alternative.

For better or worse, AI looks set to dominate the coming year in smartphones, and likely beyond, so the Samsung Galaxy S24 certainly feels well-equipped to wade into that battle. As for whether or not it offers enough outside that to justify itself as a worthwhile upgrade, I’m less convinced. The move back to Exynos chipsets could end up feeling like a downgrade if previous issues persist, and there’s otherwise very little different this year. We’ll be able to judge the phone’s processing power and the touted new camera features when we get our hands on a review sample. For now, however, the Samsung Galaxy S24 certainly seems to be banking on the allure of AI being enough to make it stand out. The Samsung Galaxy S24 starts at £799 for the 128GB model and £859 for the 256GB. You can preorder from today and units are set to start shipping on 31 January.

It doesn't break the mold or even dare to bring substantial style to itself, but the Galaxy S24 is essentially the Good Ol' Reliable of the smartphone market: you know exactly what you're getting on both the good and the bad fronts. And as much as I crow about these cameras, if you're taking photos of food and vacation spots for your Insta and the latest TikTok craze, the Galaxy S24 will handle it just fine. I just think you and I both deserve better from a phone this expensive. You can live quite comfortably on this phone, and after spending 6-14 hours a day on my Galaxy S23, I fully intend to do the same with this Galaxy S24. One UI's tweaks feel comfortable, the screen will be absolutely perfect once that launch bug is squashed, and once combined with a magnificent MagSafe case and a trusty phone grip — between pinky-propping and texting thumb, my hands can't take much another RSI — this lithe but luxurious pocket-friendly phone will be annoying camera app from perfection.

Both the Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus are extremely powerful smartphones that brought some improvements in every department, whether that’s the display, design, chipset, camera, or even the battery. But are these improvements enough to make to upgrade to one of these new smartphones? Well, that depends, if you already own the Samsung Galaxy S23 or any other flagship smartphone released in the last two years, then the upgrade is simply not enough. You will see the improvements if you do upgrade but they are not enough considering the amount of money you will waste. It’s better to wait for the next generation of Samsung Galaxy S series of smartphones to make the upgrade worth it. But if you are using an older Samsung Galaxy S20, then you should upgrade and you will feel the upgrade in every area, especially in performance, camera, and battery life. If you are comfortable with a smaller phone and don’t care about the bigger battery the standard Samsung Galaxy S24 will serve you perfectly.

There’s also a lot to like about the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chip, especially power efficiency. Even though the S24 only has a 4,000mAh cell, it has great battery life, all things considered. Plus, the performance with Android 14 and One UI 6.1 is fast, snappy, and responsive enough for pretty much anything you throw at it. If you’re due for an upgrade this year, the Galaxy S24 is a good phone on your shopping list. I began my review of the S24 and S24+ with low expectations. After all, they weren't very different (visibly) than their predecessors. But as I spent more time with these devices, their minimalist design and slick UX grew on me. Then came the built-in generative AI features, which are more convenient and intuitive than most other third-party bots. There’s even greater potential with the live translation tools, especially with international travel basically back to pre-pandemic levels. The new software aids, combined with subtle design tweaks, help the S24 and S24+ make a more compelling case for upgrading from an S22 or earlier models. Or switching over from other brands, for that matter. Even though OpenAI and Google are already well ahead in the generative AI game, Samsung still deserves some credit for simplifying these functions — at least while it keeps offering Galaxy AI for free until the end of 2025.

Newfound focus on AI aside, Samsung can be forgiven for playing it safe with the Galaxy S24. Little else in the Android world is as pocket-friendly, and a dedicated zoom lens gives it a hardware lead over the vanilla iPhone 15. Slimmer screen bezels and slightly sharper styling make it feel like a refinement on what came before, while performance it as I’d expect from a top-tier phone. Battery life is decent enough too, even if the Exynos variant feels at a slight disadvantage to the Snapdragon version. Spec snobs will find the lack of camera upgrades disappointing. But as long as Apple and Google continue to save the best hardware for their flagship phones, it makes sense for Samsung to do the same. Most people picking up an S24 will be happy enough with its snaps, and an otherwise extensive feature list makes it an ace Android all-rounder.

Some of the best parts of the Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus aren’t entirely original to Samsung, and I think that’s fine. Adopting a well-liked, functional design and leaning on Google for AI is just smart — why reinvent the little black rectangle? As far as big Android phones go, you really can’t do better than the Galaxy S24 Plus right now in terms of performance and value. Sure, you can go Ultra and get the absolute most phone, with a big, fantastic screen, better zoom, and a built-in S Pen. But I think the Ultra demographic is a little more self-selecting, and the S24 Plus strikes me as the ultimate crowd-pleaser for someone who just wants a great Android phone. That said, there are some good reasons to consider the Pixel 8 Pro instead. Its 5x telephoto has just a bit more reach for those distant subjects compared to the S24’s 3x zoom, and Pixel software is less fussy than One UI.

In keeping with tradition, the Galaxy S24 continues to be a mighty yet surprisingly compact package. It is one of the few small flagships left out there, and that alone will ensure its popularity with buyers. Also, as usual, it is the cheapest way to get into Samsung's latest flagship line and for better or worse, that appeals to a particular crowd. If you fall into either camp of interested buyers, we can confidently say that Samsung played it safe yet again and ensured that the Galaxy S24 won't disappoint. If, however, you crave something other than the Galaxy S "norm" or are deeply bothered by the return of Exynos, you might want to look elsewhere instead. Until the S24's price settles a bit, we'd say the Galaxy S23 provides better value around.

Reviewing the Samsung Galaxy S24, the best (and only) compact phone of 2024 boasting upgraded AI camera shenanigans - and an Exynos 2400 chipset. So is this Samsung Galaxy S24 worth the price, how's the battery life and gaming tech, and can you stop mentioning AI please? Hit play to find out! This mini smartphone is smaller and cheaper than the Plus and Ultra models, yet boasts the same OneUI 6.1 features and AI tools. The Samsung S24 is packed with great stuff, but my favourites are the photo editing tools. That Galaxy camera has improved in a few ways and generally dependable, but even rubbish shots can be saved in a few seconds. One of the first flagships of the year is powered by Samsung's own Exynos 2400 here in the UK, like the Plus. The Galaxy S24 is still beefy enough to cope with gaming on Genshin Impact, but stumbles at times. And battery life only drops when you're doing camera or gaming shenanigans.

At a starting price of RM6,299 and maximum price of RM8,499, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra currently sits as one of the most expensive non-foldable devices that you can get yourself on the current market. If we’re honest, it doesn’t feel like a worthwhile purchase if you’re trading up from the S23 Ultra. In fact, I would actually recommend that you hold off for a generation and stick with the S23 Ultra, especially if you can and are willing to give the whole Galaxy AI a miss, for now. On the subject of Galaxy AI, I’ve said this before and I’ll gladly say it again: at this stage, the feature feels more of a gimmick, a novelty, particularly when it comes to using it as a tool to erase certain subjects and objects from an otherwise perfect image.

And to conclude this review – this is a great small phone. If you want a small flagship phone, then get this. I know many people are seething over the fact that Exynos has returned and can’t accept that the Exynos 2400 has improved despite having so much evidence from not just me, but from other reviews too. It can compete with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in some aspects – and it’s a fantastic chip. As what I said in the S24+ review, time flows, and things change. Overall, I think the new Galaxy S24 gets the least upgrades over its predecessors. There are a few small upgrades here and there, and that’s about it.

Similarly, if you must have S Pen and big displays, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is the only true option among the three. The upgraded Vision Booster and 2,600-nits peak brightness across all three models can be very nice, although we doubt most people would be struggling with its previous peak brightness. Without throwing the Galaxy S24 Ultra at a wall to determine its dent resistance, the Titanium body is an aesthetic choice, and nothing more at the moment.

The most significant upgrades for the Samsung Galaxy S24 come under the hood. Beyond the brighter display, our Samsung Galaxy S24 first look sample for Malaysia uses their own in-house Exynos 2400 for Galaxy processor paired with 8GB LPDDR5X RAM and either 256GB or 512GB UFS 4.0 storage. Samsung has done away entirely with the smaller 128GB capacity for the Malaysia market which is a welcome move seeing how large games and movies are these days. Some other regions like China, Canada and the United States use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy processor but for Malaysia, it’s only used in the top of the line Galaxy S24 Ultra that we unboxed recently. As it stands, the Galaxy S24 has subtle but meaningful upgrades that aim to help it retain its role as the titular compact flagship phone with the biggest feature being its Galaxy AI array of features that are unlike anything else that the company has launched before.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 may not be a complete reinvention of Samsung’s ‘baby’ flagship, but a refreshed design and genuinely exciting AI additions may make this a premium 2024 phone well worthy of your consideration – but I’ll reserve my final thoughts until I’ve spent some time with the phone and properly put it through its paces.

This hands-on review runs through the Samsung S24 Ultra specs and shows how this £1249 beast stacks up to the Galaxy S24 Plus and mini 2024 smartphone. For one, you get upgraded camera hardware, including a 200MP primary shooter and 50MP periscope zoom. However, the other phones can now capture 8K video at 30FPS and they have the same ultra-wide and selfie setup. The other big difference is the chipset - in the UK, that Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, while the S24 and Plus are Exynos 2400. Stick around for more on the differences! The Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus now boasts a QHD screen just like the Ultra model, and it's only a mite smaller. However, the S24 Ultra does upgrade that Victus 2 screen coating to Gorilla Glass Armor, which is anti-reflective as well as scratch resistant. Stay tuned for my full review of these phones to see how the Samsung S24 Ultra gaming performance and battery life compares to the Plus and regular models.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 series is here. I got brief hands-on time with all three phones, including the 6.8-inch Galaxy S24 Ultra with a new 5X Periscope zoom lens. All three phones' big selling point this year are on-device generative AI features that include photo editing and live two-ways translation.

Meet the Galaxy S24 series, a very familiar look, but with a new slogan that focuses more on something else. Samsung is calling out that its Galaxy AI is here, and I know, the term Artificial Intelligence is everywhere today, not just here. What's interesting, though is that Samsung's approach is unique in a couple of ways, and dare I say, most of which are pretty awesome. I'm Jaime Rivera with Pocketnow and let's dive into our hands-on.

It's here the Samsung Galaxy S24 Series -- now with AI at its core. The S24 Ultra looks familiar but now sports a Titanium frame and a flat screen. It also drops its 10x Tele for a 5x one. But more importantly generative AI is built into the entire experience. It’s Galaxy like you’ve never experienced before.

It's quite obvious that Galaxy AI is doing the heavy lifting this year, with most of the hardware improvements and software features heavily relying on the on-device AI algorithms. For yet another year, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is the center of attention with the new telephoto camera, titanium side frame, and flat frontal design. However, the changes in the Galaxy S24 and S24+ are more than welcome. The slight bump in the battery capacity and the upgrade to brighter LTPO OLED panels are significant upgrades. In fact, the Galaxy S24+, with its higher resolution LTPO panel and 4,900 mAh battery, put it much closer to the S24 Ultra than ever before. We are curious to see how this plays out because some may prefer the S24+ over the Ultra due to their similar feature set and big price gap. What's more, we are eager to see how the new AI-driven features aid real-life situations and whether Samsung's heavy bet on AI instead of offering more meaningful hardware upgrades is enough to boost sales and spark users' interest.

The Galaxy S24 lineup will be available for pre-order starting today, and the phones will hit shelves on January 30th. Pricing for the S24 and S24+ are consistent with last year, at $799 and $999, respectively. However, the S24 Ultra is getting a small price bump. Instead of starting at $1,200 like the S23 Ultra, this phone will retail for $1,299. If you're going to pick up a Galaxy S24, you might want to order early. Samsung offers enhanced trade-in values for old phones and free storage upgrades to pre-orders. We'll have a review up and live soon, so stay tuned.

Tech giant Samsung has unveiled its new range of high-end smartphones: Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24. Samsung has placed a huge emphasis on Galaxy AI, with lots of clever features to boost your everyday smartphone experience. No third-party apps are required, and the AI is on your device which keeps your conversations completely private.

The Galaxy S24 starts at $1,099, and the S24+ at $1,399. Both handsets come in ‘Onyx Black,’ ‘Marble Gray,’ ‘Cobalt Violet,’ ‘Amber Yellow,’ and Samsung Store exclusive colours, ‘Jade Green,’ ‘Sapphire Blue’ and ‘Sandstone Orange.’ There’s a lot to test out for the first time in several years with the Galaxy S24 series, and I’m pretty excited to try out the S24 Ultra. Samsung’s new Galaxy AI features seem useful and could make my day-to-day easier. A full review of the Galaxy S24 Ultra will hit MobileSyrup in the coming weeks after I’ve spent more time testing out the smartphone.

We are yet to test the Galaxy S24 battery life and camera in detail, but based on our initial hands-on impressions, we can already tell that the Galaxy S24 improves an already mature product. The improvements in performance are nice and we like the slightly tweaked design, but what we appreciate even more is the new look for photos and the overall improvements to the camera. As for all the AI features, they all sound great on paper, but we are yet to see how much use will they get in real life. For some people, they might be the game changer, while others might not care too much about live translation in calls. What are your thoughts on the Galaxy S24 and... will this be your next phone?

The Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra all cater to slightly different needs. The S24 is perfect for those seeking a compact device that doesn’t sacrifice on performance or high-end specs. The S24+ adds a larger display and increased storage, making it ideal for people who enjoy lots of content consumption. The S24 Ultra, with its extra camera features, titanium build and built-in S Pen. extraordinary camera capabilities and extensive storage options, stands as the ultimate flagship. Of course, the more capable devices are also more expensive. But regardless of which S24 phone you choose, you’ll be getting an excellent display, premium build quality and slick software, not to mention seven years of updates.

Aside from Samsung’s new focus on AI, my initial impression is that this year’s more mainstream Galaxy plays it very safe. Sure, it’s great to see the S24 slim down its display bezels, sharpen up its styling and bring the panel tech to compete with 2024’s other early phone of the year contenders. But no major camera upgrades are a disappointment, given rivals have gained a lot of ground recently. The price seems right for the entry-level model, at least, and it doesn’t skimp on features. It just remains to be seen how the Exynos CPU will perform, and what impact it will have on battery life compared to Snapdragon silicon. I think Samsung has done enough to please its fans, but at this early stage I’m not sure spec snobs will be so easily won over.

The Galaxy S24 isn't a major update over Samsung's predecessor. However, all things considered in context, and this is a better-looking handset thanks to its smaller bezel and larger screen, new Galaxy AI tools, and minor battery capacity enhancement. It's cheaper than last year's model, too, which goes to show Samsung means business against the not inconsiderable competition.

And of course, get ready to order one right away if you want to be among the first to use it.
