Samsung propose un smartphone tout à fait correct à un prix qui ne l'est pas du tout. Mais honnêtement, ce n'est pas tout à fait ça. Alors oui, bien sûr, le Galaxy S24 FE est 200 trop cher selon moi. Mais pour son prix de 749 euros, vous n'obtenez pas juste un bon téléphone, mais un très bon téléphone. Un grand écran correct, une batterie solide, de bonnes performances, un design premium, une politique de mise à jour exemplaire et un éventail de fonctions d'IA complet. Ce serait un ensemble vraiment génial si le Galaxy S24+ ne proposait pas déjà tout ça.

Ce Samsung Galaxy S24 FE est un bon smartphone. Esthétiquement, on a vraiment l'impression de tenir en main un S24+. Le FE est tout aussi élégant, qualitatif et résistant grâce à son verre Gorilla Glass Victus II et sa certification IP68. L'utiliser est un véritable plaisir, d'autant plus que son interface One UI est très agréable et offre une intégration bien pensée de l'intelligence artificielle. Les performances sont au rendez-vous, très proches de ce que propose le S24+, bien que légèrement en-deçà de ce que l'on trouve chez le Xiaomi 14T Pro, par exemple. Le bridage du SoC après un usage intensif est bien géré, ce qui évite la surchauffe, mais pas la perte de puissance.

Le Galaxy S24 FE est sans conteste un smartphone polyvalent offrant un excellent rapport qualité/prix. Son design et les matériaux utilisés n’ont rien à envier aux autres flagships de Samsung. Côté écran, vous bénéficiez d’une qualité de haut niveau, même avec quelques concessions acceptables pour son prix. Sur le plan des performances, la puce Exynos 2400e figure parmi les plus puissantes du marché, permettant de jouer à n’importe quel jeu du Play Store sans ralentissement ni surchauffe. Ces dernières années, la Fan Edition s'est dangereusement rapprochée du modèle de base normal de la gamme Galaxy S, tant en termes de taille que de prix- le S23 était même moins cher que la Fan Edition de l'année dernière lors de son lancement, ce qui rendait tout l'intérêt du modèle pour le moins discutable. Est-ce mieux cette année pour le lancement de la Fan Edition? Le comparateur de prix d'idealo liste le S24+ avec 256 Go de mémoire à partir d'un peu plus de 800 euros- avec la même capacité, le prix de vente conseillé du S24 FE est de 809 euros. Au moins avant la première chute de prix et au prix de vente conseillé, la Fan Edition est donc malheureusement à nouveau discutable et n'aura de sens que lorsque le prix se sera stabilisé bien en dessous du "plus" dans quelques mois. En 2024, vous ne devriez plus acheter la variante 128 Go à 749 euros- ni d'ailleurs aucun autre smartphone avec aussi peu de mémoire.

With a starting price of PHP 39,990 for the 8+128GB variant, it is almost half the price of the standard S24. For the amount of savings you’re getting with the Galaxy S24 FE, it begs the question if you’re overpaying for the Galaxy S24 or S24 Plus. I believe you are given that the S24 FE lines up more to the Galaxy S24 Plus given its size. Functionally, you’re getting the same software and experience with the Galaxy S24 FE — but at $350 less. This is a big improvement for the series, especially when its design, cameras, and display are elevated over its predecessor. The only area where it lags behind is battery life, which is average compared to everything else, but still comes up short against its flagship kin. I’m okay with this shortcoming, especially when it matches (and even exceeds) its sibling in every other area. I would argue the Galaxy S24 FE is one of the best values you’ll find in a phone this year. And this would be the first time I’d claim that for an ‘FE’ phone.

A $270 price jump is crazy, and the differences don’t seem worth the cost. Samsung, that’s a lot of money for a non-flagship. The base S24 costs $1,099, so I’d say save your money and just get the upgrade. With the promo code S24FESale, you can get the S24 FE for $200 off, which is worth it if you buy the handset. However, I wouldn’t purchase this handset at full price. If you can wait for a sale, such as the current S24 FE sale, Black Friday, or Boxing Day, the S24 FE might be a good pick. Otherwise, just save a bit extra and grab the base S24. When Samsung hadn’t released an A7* series device in a year, we needed the S24 FE to be more of a bridge between the S series and A series instead of making the Fan Edition an overpriced mid-range-ish S series device.

Okay – should you buy it? Honestly, I’d say that it is actually not thaaaaat far off when putting it beside the S24+. Sure, there are some differences that are immediately apparent – like not as thin and the screen bezels being thicker – but other than that, it’s mostly the same thing. At the price of RM3,299 or $709.99 USD for the 256GB version – never buy any phones with 128GB nowadays – and I’ll have to say that it is indeed a bit expensive. So, I suggest you either take advantage of the trade-in program or get it at a discount. The alternative to this phone is the Xiaomi 14T Pro that we have reviewed recently. It is lower in price, but there is no OIS for its telephoto camera and the software is also not as good and is filled with ads.

Let's keep things simple here: There's no doubt that the S24 FE is a great, very well-rounded device. Honestly, we can't find any glaring issues with it. Does it have the best display in the business, the best speakers around, the most powerful chipset or the crispest cameras? No, definitely not. What it does have is a solid combination of all of these things. It does not disappoint in any particular way. If we had to nitpick, we would have loved to see 12GB of RAM. Still, Samsung has committed to seven years of software support for the FE, so they must be confident that 8GB will be enough. At least one should hope so. Would autofocus on the selfie and ultrawide have been nice? Well, undoubtedly. But neither is a dealbreaker in our book.

As I mentioned at the start of this review, the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is a confusing smartphone. Viewed in a bubble, there’s plenty to like. If you want a big phone with a 120Hz display, two-day battery life, and great performance, the S24 FE can seem like a bargain. However, even viewed through this hypothetical lens, you still compromise with cheap hardware, lesser display specs, and mediocre cameras. As I explained above, the S24 FE does not exist in a bubble. Want a big Android phone with excellent performance and battery life? The OnePlus 12R is a much better choice. It outdoes the S24 FE in some key areas and costs $150 less. If you’re dead set on getting a Samsung phone, your money is much better spent on a discounted S24 or S24 Plus — which are very easy to come by these days.

I don’t like to be too negative on a phone before I’ve properly had a chance to put it through its paces but my first impression of the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is that it’s a somewhat needless addition to the lineup. The price increase pushes it too far into flagship territory to seriously be considered a value-for-money alternative and the cuts that have been made feel half-baked and arbitrary, rather than surgical excisions designed to offer the best value to consumers. 8K video didn’t need to be on this phone and, realistically, nor did the vast majority of the Galaxy AI gimmicks. Looking at the Google Pixel 8a – which starts at £499 – I can’t help but feel that Samsung would have been better off stripping more away from the Galaxy S24 FE and positioning it at a similar price, where it really could have made a splash. As it is, the shadow of the Galaxy S24 is looming large and the S24 FE might struggle to flourish. Of course, it may be that I’ll change my tune when I’ve fully tested it.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE achieved very good results for its class in the DXOMARK Camera tests, thanks to good exposure, nice colors, and accurate white balance across most test conditions when shooting still images and recording video. In addition, the autofocus system performed reliably, delivering well-focused photos and video clips alike. On the downside, our experts observed more intrusive noise and lower levels of detail than on best-in-class devices when the light conditions got dimmer. The Galaxy S24 FE also offered a decent zoom range, from a 13mm equivalent ultra-wide to the 3x optical zoom of the dedicated tele camera module.

In recent years, the Fan Edition has come dangerously close to the normal base model of the S series in terms of both size and price—at the launch of last year's Fan Edition, the S23 was even cheaper than the new Fan Edition at the time, which made the whole point of the model seem questionable to say the least. Is it any better this year at the launch of the Fan Edition? At least in the US pricing for the S24 models has been more stable than in previous generations, with neither the S24 nor the S24+ rivaling the S24 FE MSRP, at least as of publishing time. The only trade-off is that the base mode only offers 128 GB of storage for $650 in 2024, the standard S24 starts at 256 GB which should be the baseline for a flagship model in 2024.

Samsung Xclipse 940: Puce graphique pour smartphones et tablettes, intégrée dans le SoC Samsung Exynos 2400. Basée sur l'architecture AMD RDNA 3 avec prise en charge du raytracing.

Ces cartes devraient être capables de faire tourner tout les jeux d'aujourd'hui, mais la plupart d'entre eux uniquement en détails moyens ou faibles et avec des résolution basses. Les plus vieux jeux ou les jeux moins gourmands restent jouables avec de beaux graphismes.

Exynos 2400e: Le Samsung Exynos 2400e est un SoC haut de gamme pour smartphones et tablettes. Il intègre 10 cœurs ARMv9 dans 4 clusters et se positionne entre le Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 et Gen 3. Par rapport à l'Exynos 2400, le "e" offre un Prime Core cadencé à 100 MHz de plus.
