Well, it depends. The Blade 14 (2021) is a solid gaming laptop even with Razer having released an updated version with newer GPUs and a few other improvements. If you’re in need of a laptop upgrade, there’s no shame at all going with the older Blade 14 model. Especially since you can now pick it up for less than what it was when it launched last year. Having said that, if you’re going to pick up the Blade 14 over a similar laptop from another brand, you’re probably best off with the RTX 3060 model, or either of the RTX 3070 models. You can get last year’s with the RTX 3070 or the refresh with the RTX 3070 Ti (it also comes with the Ryzen 9 6900HX CPU as opposed to the 5900HX), priced at $2,199 and $2,599 respectively. Overall, the Blade 14 is pricey but if you want something portable in a 14-inch form factor that still packs a punch, this is the way to go. It’s portable and it’s powerful. Though, if you’re not entirely stuck on the 14-inch size, the Blade 15 might be a better fit. As you’ll get better performance without adding much weight or thickness.

The Razer Blade 14 is a charming little rogue of a laptop. Behind the discreet exterior hides forces that are unmatched in that size. If you need computing power and especially graphic muscles that can be taken anywhere, it is difficult to find a direct competitor. It costs to be in that class, but in terms of performance, the price in no way seems unreasonable.

Like its direct rival from ASUS, the Razer Blade 14 Ryzen finds itself in a unique position among a sea of gaming laptops. It is one of the few laptops currently on the market that can boast having some of the more premium hardware on tap and on top of that, cramming it all into a chassis that is significantly thinner and smaller than conventional laptops. As far as thin and light gaming notebook goes, it is easy to see how Razer has long dominated the market segment, and the Blade 14 Ryzen is a testament that serves to reaffirm the brand’s standing in it. For AMD and its Ryzen 5000 Mobile series, the CPU attached to this machine can be summed up in two words: repeat performance. Despite some minor flaws to the Blade 14 Ryzen’s choice of design – along with the exorbitant price tag – there is little that would dissuade me from recommending this laptop to gamers and, more importantly, long-time Razer fans that are intent on maintaining their loyalty towards the company.

The Blade 14 is the latest flagship gaming notebook from Razer. It aims to offer gamers powerhouse performance, in a form factor that’s thin and light enough to fit to be used on the go. The Razer Blade 14 proves itself to be eminently portable, and it includes top hardware. Highlights include lashings of gaming and productivity power alongside a great screen and solid keyboard.

The Razer Blade 14 sits amongst the stars. It doesn’t shine the brightest, but it performs well, and the concessions Razer makes to create a beautiful PC package are reasonable. You won't crank out 160 frames per second in your favorite games using the laptop's native resolution, highest quality settings, and tons of ray tracing, but you'll get great results in all but the most graphically demanding games. Even then, you can always enable Nvidia's DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) technology in a game’s menu to give your frame rates a boost.

Still, that doesn’t mean it’s overpriced for what you’re getting, and there’s a lot to like. After spending time with the system, we can say the build feels premium, and it’s extremely portable, comfortable to use, long-lasting, and plenty powerful for gaming. It’s not the first 14-inch gaming laptop, by far, but it is the first we’ve tested with top-tier power and little compromise. The Alienware m15 is our top pick for prioritizing power; the Razer Blade 15 is our favorite still-portable 15-inch laptop; and the Acer Predator Triton 300 SE is the best budget-friendly 14-inch system. And now, the Razer Blade 14 is our favorite portability-first powerhouse. It doesn’t seize any of those niche crowns away from the other three but establishes its own kingdom, earning an Editors’ Choice award on terms it defines.

I’ll come right out and say it – the Razer Blade 14 really blows me away. To have this kind of performance come out of a 14-inch form factor that is under 4 lbs, is pretty awesome by itself. Add in the fact that it doesn’t throttle under load, is built well, has a nice screen and trackpad, and even has decent battery life? Amazing! Of course, all these add up to a hefty price tag, and cramming powerful hardware inside this kind of format does lead to high chassis temperatures and loud fans in sustained demanding noise.

Let's have a chat about some of my concerns with the new Blade 14, my thoughts after using it for two weeks, and (in general) my experience thus far. We won't be deep-diving into performance or benchmarks much in this video, so if you need that, feel free to check out @Jarrod'sTech's content on this laptop.

The Blade 14 has a large vapor chamber for cooling, a Razer Chroma per key RGB backlit keyboard and it weighs 3.92 lb / 1.78kg. We look at benchmarks, thermals, fan noise and upgradability. It competes with the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 directly and the Zephyrus G15 indirectly.

If you’re looking for the most power-per-pound you can get, the Razer Blade 14 is the ideal gaming laptop for you. Fourteen inches won’t be enough screen for everyone, of course, especially at this price point — and plenty of shoppers may be willing to give up the fancy RGB and a few frames per second in favor of the unbelievable battery life the Zephyrus G14 and G15 offer. There are a few knocks against the Blade — namely the poor webcam, the chassis’s fingerprint retention, and the steep price tag — but if none of those are dealbreakers for you, I see no reason not to recommend it. There’s really nothing else like it on the market.

The Razer Blade 14 is back in grand fashion and I’ve got to say, I couldn’t be happier. When it debuted back in 2013, the Blade 14 was the pinnacle of thin-and-light gaming and now it’s returned to reclaim the throne. As it relaunches, the laptop is coming in thinner and lighter than its predecessor and much more powerful. I, for one, can not wait to get this laptop in to see how well it does against the competition as it’s got some powerful specs and some lofty claims to live up to, particularly regarding battery life. And while it might cost a pretty penny, if Razer’s penchant for big power in small packages holds up, the Razer Blade 14 will be well worth the splurge.

Commentaire
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU:
