The Oppo Reno 12 Pro Manish Malhotra Edition is the perfect blend of art and AI features. It offers a premium quad-curved display, great cameras, and a long-lasting battery life. If you are a fan of Manish Malhotra or just like designer phones, then it’s a phone worth considering. However, much better phones are available in this price range, like the Realme GT 6T, iQOO Neo 9 Pro, and the Poco F6, which deliver much better performance. You can also save some money and opt for the regular edition of the Reno 12 Pro instead.

The Oppo Reno 12 Pro 5G Manish Malhotra Limited Edition shines as an exceptional choice for anyone seeking a stylish smartphone that celebrates Indian culture. Its unique design, powerful camera setup, and robust performance make it a standout option during the festive season. While the competition offers strong alternatives, the exquisite aesthetics and thoughtful details make this phone a worthy investment for fashion enthusiasts. However, those seeking the best camera performance or a more customisable software experience might explore alternatives like Vivo V40 Pro, Honor 200 and more.

The OPPO Reno 12 Pro 5G is a stylish mid-range smartphone that delivers in several key areas, including design, display, and camera performance. The integration of useful AI features sets it apart from the competition, making it a good choice for productivity-focused users. However, the choice of the MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Energy SoC, while competent, feels underwhelming in a segment where stronger hardware is readily available at similar prices. Despite these shortcomings, the phone’s fast charging, sleek design, and versatile camera system make it worth considering—though it might not appeal to those seeking the best performance or gaming experience at this price.

The OPPO Reno 12 Pro is a slick and impressive phone. The camera is phenomenal, and again, while we didn’t torture test it, the company seems to have put a lot of effort into making it tough and durable. It’s a great phone as-is, and if you’re in a region where you can get 5G coverage and access the AI features (I had to set my location to Malaysia to do so), you’ll get to enjoy it fully! I have to say, the AI writer aspect was really cool. If you’ve ever agonized over how to shoot off a quick email and capture the right tone, having it available from a quick sidebar swipe makes it feel like a true assistant/companion.

The Oppo Reno12 Pro costs 600 EUR (12/512GB)- which is average for its category. What speaks in favor of choosing this model? In addition to the nice, and above all handy and light housing, the Oppo Reno12 Pro can convince with a good quality display and good performance. The smartphone should be praised for practical additions such as a remote control or a memory card slot, as well as for good communication facilities, which lacked only greater symmetry in stereophony and eSIM support from the ideal. The battery and charging speed do not give reason to criticize, although unfortunately there is no charger in the set.

Mid-range smartphones are a sensible choice for many. They generally give you a decent camera setup without having to pay the huge sums that flagships usually command. By spending a little more than you might on a super cheap phone, usually you get pretty good results too. The Oppo Reno 12 Pro firmly occupies that middle ground and gives you a range of features for your money. On paper, it sounds like it should be pretty good, with its double 50MP sensors on the back, and a 50MP sensor for the selfie camera. In reality, the results a little mixed. You can get some good results, but it pays to be mindful of wild oversaturation in some cases, while night mode is definitely better elsewhere. Having no macro mode is also a bit of a shame.

The Oppo Reno 12 Pro is for those focused primarily on camera features, particularly if you’re looking for plenty of granular settings when it comes to portraits and selfies. If you’re looking for a solid Android all-rounder there are more attractive options at this price point, especially if you’re not prepared to sacrifice grunt for battery life.

The mid-range phone world is ultra-competitive right now, putting the Oppo Reno 12 Pro in a tricky position. It doesn’t drop the ball in any one area – but it doesn’t truly stand out in any either. It looks the part, but the plastic build can’t match the Samsung Galaxy A55 on materials; it’s speedy enough for general use, but lags behind in gaming; that lead camera takes a clean photo, but the total package isn’t able to best the Google Pixel 8a. Those phones can’t match it on battery life or charging speeds, though, and the sizeable screen doesn’t disappoint. If you’re after an all-rounder with a few extra niceties you won’t find from the big hitters like expandable storage and an IR blaster, the Reno 12 Pro is definitely worth your attention.

The Oppo Reno 12 Pro has been a delight to live with. The screen is excellent, the design is unique and eye-catching, the software is easy to use and the AI features come in quite handy. The cameras are good in the daylight, and I was particularly impressed with the selfie camera. However, in low light and with fast-moving subjects, they leave a little to be desired. The gaming performance is slightly lacking, too – it gets the job done, but isn’t likely to wow you. Whether this phone is right for you all depends on your priorities. If you’re keen on AI-powered productivity, it’s one of the best options in its price bracket. However, if you’re an avid photographer, the Pixel 8a often delivers better results, and if gaming is a high priority, I’d recommend looking at the Poco F6 Pro instead.

At S$949, the OPPO Reno 12 Pro is a solid choice for anyone looking to upgrade their phone without paying an arm and a limb. With impressive AI capabilities, a beautiful display, and a price tag that won’t make you wince, it’s a no-brainer for photography enthusiasts and everyday users alike. Interested parties may purchase the OPPO Reno 12 Pro on OPPO’s website. While few electronics offer groundbreaking changes, the collective enhancements of the OPPO Reno12 Pro – especially in AI photography and connectivity – make it a compelling upgrade if you’re coming from an older model.

With its latest mid-range Android phone, Oppo seems to be going after Google’s latest affordable camera phone the Pixel 8a with a similar range of smart AI photography features. And it’s a great attempt, with some solid magic eraser action and a few other cool tools, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The Oppo Reno 12 Pro is the latest entry in Oppo’s middle tier of smartphones, the Reno range, which sits below the top-end Find mobiles and above the A line. The Reno family offer mobiles at middling prices with some impressive features but with corners cut, and generally only the even-numbered options launch in the West. I tested the Oppo Reno 10 when that came out just under a year prior to the 12 series, and the newest member of the line comes on leaps and bounds thanks to its improved camera sensors (and faster charging).

In terms of performance, the OPPO Reno12 Pro yields as solid an experience as you can expect. It is fast when needed, copes well with multitasking, and has a great camera and battery that makes you feel like you have a truly premium smartphone in-hand. Crucially, however, OPPO has learned from the Reno10 Pro+ and priced this device at a more reasonable price point. It therefore makes it feel like you are getting close to flagship performance for an upper mid-range price tag.

In a £500ish smartphone category where you typically need to offer something special to stand out, the Oppo Reno 12 Pro 5G shoots for expert calibration and balance – though it also has a couple of notable tricks up its sleeve. It lacks the flagship-like design of the Samsung Galaxy A55, but its plastic body is tough and light, with a pleasingly rounded 2.5D display. Its screen, performance, and charging speeds fall way short of the Poco F6 Pro, but you’ll have no practical complaints about any of those things (other than the lack of a charging brick). While Oppo doesn’t take pictures of the same advanced quality as the Pixel 8a, it does boast a decent dedicated telephoto camera and a good selfie cam.

Oppo Reno 12 Pro 5G is a decent smartphone that provides promising performance, camera experience, punchy display, plenty of AI features, and more. However, if you are not a fan of glittery smartphone designs like me, then you can avoid this device. Additionally, the OS experience was also average due to bloatware. Overall, the Reno 12 Pro 5G checks most of the boxes of what a user can expect in the given price range.

Despite its modest specifications, the OPPO Reno12 Pro is a fun device that packs a lot of useful AI features. Its camera performance remains more or less similar to its predecessor, but that does not make it poor by any metric. However, the brand must consider upgrading the hardware as rivals, including Xiaomi, have already started collaborating with traditional camera makers to take the game to the next level. High-end hardware also ensures long-term useability. That being said, if you’re a gamer, the iQOO Neo 9 Pro remains the ideal choice in this segment.

Outside of the enthusiast lens, the Oppo Reno 12 Pro makes sense despite its shortcomings. But still, there are things that make this one of the least appealing smartphones in this range. The biggest competitor to this device is obviously the Vivo V30 Pro and if we are talking about the overall experience, I would still recommend the Vivo over the Oppo Reno 12 Pro, even for our offline buyer friends out there. The Oppo Reno series of smartphones doesn’t make sense. But well, that isn’t something that is driving the industry. See, for a techie like myself, every smartphone or gadget goes through very critical eyes. With the Oppo Reno series, I have always had that critical eye, apart from the Digit tests that give a very clear, objective picture of each device being good or not.

So overall, the OPPO Reno12 Pro is a great phone with all of the upgrades it has over its predecessor. You get a beautiful display, a very capable camera, a relatively powerful chipset, and finally stereo speakers. While the design change is very debatable, at the end of the day style is subjective. Some of you might like it while others may not. But there’s one topic we haven’t covered yet – the price. The OPPO Reno12 Pro retails for PHP 34,999 for this specific 12+512GB variant. With that, it has gotten a lot more expensive compared to its predecessor. But given the upgrades, I do find it worth it.

The Oppo Reno 12 Pro is an interesting alternative if you want to try an AI feature-rich phone, but don't want to pay flagship money. It's basically half the cost of a Galaxy S24, but doesn't cut out any AI features — even if some of them don't work as good. But we feel like it comes short in some areas, at least for now. It's great that the AI tools are in an overlay, so you aren't tied down to using a specific browser, email, or messaging app to have access to them. It's not so great that the phone's performance stutters from time to time, making it slightly annoying to actually be multitasking on it. The camera is not bad, but certainly not as impressive as the specs suggest. It does get beat out by competitors such as the Google Pixel 8a.

Now, should you buy the Reno12 Pro? Well, we have to know the price first. Okay, the OPPO Reno12 Pro starts at RM2,599 – which is RM100 more than the Reno11 Pro. I have no idea why OPPO raised the price even though this Reno12 Pro is a clear downgrade. Do I recommend it? No, this is going to be tough to recommend. I’m really not sure what’s the rationale behind this price increment alongside the downgrades. A phone still needs to be a good phone before any of the additional features are highlighted – particularly AI features.

As we stated earlier, the Oppo Reno12 Pro is a stylish all-rounder with capable hardware for the most part. The display is good, has a dedicated zoom camera, although it can't record videos for some reason, potent main camera, excellent selfie unit, fast charging, dependable battery life, microSD card slot, IR blaster and fast enough charging. However, for roughly the same price, you can get proper flagship killers, often with better camera setups, faster chipsets and sometimes even faster charging. Speaking of, the Reno12 Pro ships without a charger in most markets, which is a big issue given the proprietary nature of the charging standard. It's not that we don't recommend the Reno12 Pro, but the handset clearly excels in some niche aspects, and the current pricing gets in the way.

The Oppo Reno12 Pro’s very good battery result was supported by its balanced and great performances in autonomy, charging, and efficiency, which showed that the device’s power system was well-optimized. In autonomy, the Oppo Reno12 Pro endured almost 71 hours of moderate usage. Tests showed that power loss was only 1% during the night while the phone was idle. In most use cases, the autonomy of the device was above average in general, except for listening to music. However, the device was just average in on-the-go testing, especially when calling. Calling autonomy tumbled to less than 22 hours in outdoor conditions from more than 35 hours in indoor tests. The Oppo Reno12 Pro is equipped with a 5000 mAh battery and comes with an 80W charger that allows the device to reach a full charge in just over an hour.

Commentaire
