Packing a big screen, fast processor, and quadruple rear camera, budget-conscious consumers get quite a lot of smartphone at an attractive price with the Realme X2 Pro. If selfies are an important factor in your buying choice, however, you may be slightly underwhelmed by its front camera performance.

The Realme X2 Pro is, by far, the best phone that the company has ever produced. With top specs, a great camera, and industry-leading fast charging, Realme has left its mark on the affordable-flagship scene. Realme’s efforts to improve the software experience haven't gone unseen, but its lack of polish will turn some buyers off.

With the X2 Pro, Realme has put a fairly capable imaging system into a phone that’s available at an attractive price. It nails the basics: photos and videos are generally properly exposed and in focus. Image also show a wide dynamic range, which makes the X2 Pro a good smartphone to shoot with in challenging high-contrast situations. The 2x optical zoom camera module delivers pleasant all-around images as well. But heavy noise, non-negligible artifacts, and other issues hold back its overall performance. A few years ago, the Realme X2 Pro would have been an astounding value; but today, the field is crowded with competing offerings that are also aimed at budget-conscious buyers.

For an inexpensive phone, the Realme X2 Pro does a good job of playing back and recording audio. No one will confuse its performance with that of a media powerhouse or flagship phone, except for its exceptional ability to play audio over its speakers at very high volumes with limited distortion. The odd panning effect when recording means that anyone who needs to make accurate recordings should probably use a different device, but if you can live with that, it does a serviceable job of recording audio.

The Realme X2 Pro is available for customers in many European countries through the main Realme store website, Spain through Amazon, and in India through Flipkart and the Realme online store as well. It’s important that you get the right version of this phone from your country’s Realme outlet, because Realme uses their own-branded SuperVOOC charger – which has a different outlet depending on your region. At press time for this review, a North American edition of the Realme X2 Pro did not yet exist.

Realme is charging a slight premium for the Master Edition of the X2 Pro over the standard version, which could be worth springing for if you're looking for something different compared to the norm. With the frequent discounts we've been seeing, the base variant of the OnePlus 7T (Review) often costs the same as the Realme X2 Pro Master Edition. Both phones offer very similar features and specifications, but Realme's offering gets you more RAM and storage for the same price.

Although it may sound cliché, Realme is trying to redefine the mid-range phone market with the X2 Pro, offering an unprecedented level of performance that will only be surpassed by much more expensive handsets. We especially like the variety of models and configurations to choose from, something which means you can get a 90Hz screen for under £400. For this and many other reasons which are outlined below, this phone is easy to recommend.

The Realme X2 Pro is the company’s first offering in the Indian flagship smartphone market and we can say that with specifications like 90Hz refresh rate, up to 12GB RAM, 64MP quad rear cameras, it certainly has the potential to be your next buy if you’re looking for a complete smartphone experience.

The realme X2 Pro is a great smartphone. There are not many frills overall and you can get great performance out of the box. If you turn on performance mode, then you can get even more performance out of it. Though, it can run games just fine without performance mode – so save yourself some battery.

To conclude this review, we can say that the device is pretty good for the price. Not just this, we would say that it is simply one of the best device available in the markets right now for its price. It turns out to be a great pick for an ordinary user or even a gamer. Though the camera performance might not be the absolute best, it is still one of the best flagship cameras in the market. We won’t hesitate to recommend Realme X2 Pro to anyone looking for a device around 30,000 INR.

The Realme X2 Pro is a good phone for the money. It's slick and responsive, its camera is impressive (although it can't beat Google's), and ColorOS adds a few neat features over standard Android. If you have a budget smartphone and are looking for the next step up without breaking the bank, it's a solid choice.

With that said, the realme X2 Pro is still far from the “perfect” flagship. It lacks wireless charging for one, although the 50W SuperVOOC charging more than makes up for it. There’s also no ingress protection, but of course its worth mentioning that no Snapdragon 855+ to date offers an IP-rated resistance against water and dust entry. And at this price point, there really is no smartphone with an IP rating.

There are clear reasons to consider the Realme X2 Pro the best buy this year. For the starting price of Rs 29,999, the X2 Pro offers a staggering list of features and most of them seem to just work without a hitch. The charging speed and the refresh rate are definitely something I would struggle to get in most other flagship phones, leave alone the mid-rangers and the camera quality is just enough to make it worthwhile. There’s also qualms about the performance. Only the design somewhat keeps it away from joining the premium club, which is acceptable considering the price at which Realme is selling the phone.

The Realme X2 Pro is a complete package. It’s a futureproof smartphone that performs amazingly well and handles whatever tasks you throw at it. The built quality is amazing and the 50W SuperVOOC Fast charging is something that impressed all of us. There are a few cons like the average rear camera setup and ColorOS but still, they can be ignored for the specifications it offers. For a price tag of Rs.29,999, you are getting the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset, 50W Fast Charging Support, 90Hz Fluid AMOLED Display, and UFS 3.0 storage which is perfect. Hence, the Realme X2 Pro gets a thumbs up from us.

The Realme X2 Pro is a great offering at Rs. 29,999. You essentially get most of the features of the OnePlus 7T, barring the leaner software, at a much more affordable price. The higher-end variant is still good value, as even at Rs. 33,999 for the 12GB RAM version, it's still better priced than the cheapest OnePlus 7T.

From premium design to top-notch specifications, the Realme X2 Pro has everything that one expects from a midrange flagship. On parameters like display, multimedia, imaging, on-battery time and charging time, the phone exceeds some of the premium flagships. It would have been a complete package if it had a better user interface, with perhaps the OxygenOS that powers OnePlus smartphones. If you compare it with the gaming-centric Asus ROG Phone II (review), the Realme X2 Pro would appear better only in its imaging prowess. But, it certainly gives you more value for money than direct competitors in its price segment, such as the Redmi K20 Pro and the OnePlus 7T.

At Rs 29,999 for the 8 GB/ 128 GB variant and Rs 33,999 for the 12 GB/ 256 GB variant, the Realme X2 Pro offers staggering good value for money for anyone in the market for a budget flagship. Yes, it does face competition from the likes of the Redmi K20 Pro and the OnePlus 7T (we are working on detailed comparisons, rest assured), but it does bring a blend of features to the table that not many out there can match, most notably that display with a 90 Hz refresh rate and well, that stunningly fast-charging battery (we still cannot quite believe that we have a flagship we can recharge from scratch in almost half an hour).

Realme X 2Pro has everything that a fully loaded mid-budget segment can have. Though low light is still a distant dream which is yet to be fulfilled but apart from that the smartphone will not disappoint you. Also, if we look at the price, one might think of going for OnePlus 7T simply because of a better user interface and update cycle. Realme has still a long way to go before it can command Rs 30,000 for a device simply because there is nothing which it can call its own - Hardware or software.

Realme X2 Pro is a good value for money device as it has a lot to offer in the under Rs 30,000 price segment such as a flagship processor, 64MP quad cameras, and a 4,000mAh battery. The 50W fast charging, I feel, is an added advantage, which makes it stand out against the competition.

The Realme X2 Pro offers a lot of features for a starting price of Rs. 29,999. It should give stiff competition to the Redmi K20 Pro (Review), which is also in the same ball-park price range. What's more interesting is that this phone will also indirectly compete with its cousin, the OnePlus 7T. Its feature set is very similar, and if you can live without OxygenOS, the X2 Pro could very well be a "budget" alternative to the 7T.

After living with the Realme X2 Pro for a few days, it's safe to say that this is one of the best phones you can buy for Rs 30,000. This is a very fast phone and if you are into mobile gaming, you can't get anything better for the price. The Snapdragon 855 Plus will keep you going smooth and fast in all your gaming sessions for at least the next two years to come. Battery life is quite good for a phone using flagship-grade chip and thanks to the ridiculously fast 50W Super VOOC fast charging, you can kiss goodbye to long waiting times. And mind you, the charging system will spoil you for good and you just can't adapt to any other slower charging system. The cameras are decent while the 90Hz smooth display pleases the eyes highly. Starting at Rs 29,999, the base variant is good value.

What we could gather from all of this is that the Realme X2 Pro's only aspect that needs improving is the camera. For around the same price of €400-500, depending on the memory configuration, you can get a better camera experience. However, when you add the rest of the features into the mix, you can hardly do any better than the Realme. It checks all the right boxes in one fell swoop.

The biggest challenge right now is convincing customers in new regions, like Europe, to buy into what they will likely consider a completely unknown brand. Offering up a Snapdragon 855-powered phone with 12GB of RAM for under €500 is an unquestionably strong start that'll no doubt turn heads, but despite all that it offers the X2 Pro will more likely get the ball rolling, rather than pull people away from their Samsung Galaxys, iPhones and Pixels in droves.

The Realme X2 Pro, meanwhile, has us truly excited. A niche started by Realme's OnePlus cousin, the flagship on a budget is a crowd favorite and we love a bargain as much as the next guy. The Pro appears to be just that - where else can you get a 90Hz OLED display, top-end chipset, a proper triple camera (quad in Realme speak, but... you know), and some of the fastest battery charging available, all starting at EUR399? If only our review unit weren't stuck at customs.

Consider what's on offer for its €399/£349 asking price - Qualcomm SD855 Plus, in-screen fingerprint, quad cameras including 64MP main unit, all-glass coating design, 6.5-inch Super AMOLED screen - and the first true flagship from Realme is quite astonishing. It'll have some small issues to address - no optical stabilisation or night mode in cameras, plus the confidence with software, and perhaps a resistance to the obscure brand name - but otherwise we're looking at an incoming new generation of the affordable flagship.
