The OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G is a smartphone that impresses across the board, from the high performance standards, to the smooth screen, to the solid main camera sensor. In addition, the fast-charging capability is excellent. However, battery life proved a bit of a letdown, which came as a surprise given its 5000mAh capacity, and many of its specs have been boosted by the (slightly more expensive) OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite in 2023. If you can get it at a discount and you can live with the hit-and-miss battery, it could still be a tempting buy, but there are more capable options available in 2023.

Overall, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite is an amazing phone that has a pretty good set of specs and compelling features to appeal to interested buyers. The phone comes with a decent 5G chipset, processing speed, and average camera support in the budget range. But if you are looking for a phone that will provide a complete package, then Nord CE 2 Lite 5G is a fabulous deal under $250. Though at the same time, the phone is not flawless, there are a few sections where the phone doesn’t perform well such as camera, processing speed, and customization. In that case, choosing alternative options is a better deal for many people, and you will find various other options on the internet. One of them is the Xiaomi Poco X4 Pro 5G, which has better customization perks with better camera results.

It’s a shame to end on such a damp note, since otherwise, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite is a pretty remarkable low-cost handset. Sure, its exterior is as dull as dishwater and the cameras could be improved, but you’re getting a good-quality screen, top-notch performance and exceptional battery life for very little money. Still, it would have been wise for OnePlus to reduce the price a bit. The regular Nord CE 2 still exists after all, which not only outperforms the Lite but also gets you an AMOLED display, Gorilla Glass protection and an ultrawide camera for just £20 more. Not to mention that the Realme 9 5G offers much the same for even less.

The OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G is another highly competent affordable phone from a now established brand. It’s solidly built, has a fluid 120Hz display, and runs reasonably smoothly. The 64Mp main camera, meanwhile, is capable of capturing images with real pop. However, there’s no getting away from the fact that this is one of the least exciting OnePlus phones we’ve seen for some time. In certain ways, it feels downright unnecessary. For just £20 less than the OnePlus Nord CE 2 you’re getting a phone with an inferior LCD display, inferior performance, slower charging, and a less flexible camera system. Meanwhile, rival efforts from Xiaomi and Realme provide similar or even slightly better specifications for less money.

OnePlus has a reputation for solid service in the mid-range smartphone market, but I was disappointed that some components had not been upgraded in the recently reviewed OnePlus Nord 2T 5G, which starts at £369. There is also disappointment with the new Nord CE 2 Lite 5G -- not so much with the phone itself, but because in a crowded market this £279 phone is arguably more expensive than it should be: given that the 'Lite' version is only £20 cheaper than the Nord CE 2, which we reviewed back in March, OnePlus could have pushed its cheapest handset further on price (see specs comparison below). Like its Nord CE predecessors, the Nord CE 2 Lite 5G is not officially on sale in the US.

If you're on a very tight budget then it will be worth considering the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite because while you do have to make some sacrifices, it's still a decent piece of kit across the board. The camera system, in particular, will pleasantly surprise you.

At the end of the day, the Nord CE 2 Lite 5G is not only hard to remember as a name, it's hard to understand its purpose in an already crowded market! The phone is merely £20 cheaper than the non-Lite version, should we really have that much segmentation in budget phones, OnePlus? But worst of all, it is the overall package that doesn't add up: the CE 2 Lite 5G compromises with screen quality, camera quality, haptics... That would have been a compromise worth accepting if it was a good deal, but unfortunately the phone is still quite pricey. We can see those who value long battery life, 5G connectivity and the clean OnePlus approach to interface consider this phone, but with so many shortcomings, it would be a tough sell even for them.

At its starting price of Rs 19,999 for 6 GB/ 128 GB, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite is, therefore, the perfect phone for anyone starting out on their smartphone journey. It rarely stutters and goes about its business without any fuss. There are devices with brighter displays, better cameras, faster-charging batteries, and stereo speakers, and some come with designs that will grab far more attention. Indeed, the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ with its 108-megapixel camera, AMOLED display, and 67W charger, topped off with a glitter-y back design is the most prominent of them, although it starts at a slightly higher price (Rs 20,999). The first OnePlus had grabbed attention by offering a flagship-level performance at a surprisingly low price; the latest OnePlus seeks to make a place for itself by being simply consistent rather than stunningly spectacular. If you are a person who wants to do as much as possible with a device in a phone priced around Rs 20,000, then there might be better options out there. But if you want a phone that just does everything well, with no real stumbling points and with clean software,

Okay so after using the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite for almost two weeks, what do I think of this phone? Well, while it does offer satisfactory performance and a clean software experience, I wish OnePlus had gone with a more compelling set of features like an AMOLED display, IP rating, and stereo speakers to match the competition. So, instead of just repackaging products of its sister companies, OnePlus could have done a better job by launching a more competitive device instead. Therefore, I am not convinced to recommend the Nord CE 2 Lite over the likes of Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G or the Poco X4 Pro 5G since they deliver a much better all-rounder experience.

Out of all the Nords, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G is inexpensive and packs a good amount of power, the Snapdragon 695 performs well, the main camera takes fairly good shots, and the fast charging is another trait to consider the smartphone. Even though we would miss the OnePlus’ stunning Optic AMOLED, the fast 120 Hz refresh would still give you a smooth experience. If you are looking for a OnePlus smartphone at a lower price (₹19,999), the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G is a good pick. You might want to see more options before you make up your mind.

OnePlus had the perfect strategy to enter a segmented smartphone market. When the company started, it created a novelty item with an invitation only purchase and low prices beating the flagship segment. Slowly, it started including more people in the fray and by its seventh iteration of its flagship, the company was well set to upend the big players. It had created a niche for itself, with the like of Marques Brownlee swearing by the brand. Over time, chinks have started to appear in its approach. The mid-segment categories haven’t worked as well and the higher ones are nowhere near the competition. There seems to be a gradual weaning off. The new Nord CE 2 Lite is a bridge between the two worlds: the old and the new.

The Nord CE 2 Lite might make sense on paper, but in practice it's a mixed bag that feels like it might be asking for too much from its processor. A solid camera and good battery life might just make up for it, though.

OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G smartphone was announced with an expected price of $260 (Rs 19,999 in India) approx. in April 2022. This 5G smartphone equips a 6.59-inches IPS LCD display panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and runs on the latest Android 12 OS with OxygenOS 12.1 user interface. The OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G is powered by a 6nm – Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G chipset. The device is available in 6GB/8GB RAM with 128GB internal storage. As far as the cameras are concerned, the smartphone packs a triple-rear camera setup featuring a 64MP main, 2MP macro, and a 2MP depth lens. On the front, the phone features a 16MP selfie camera for decent photography. You can record 1080p videos at 30 frames per second from both cameras. As for the color options, the phone comes in Black Dusk and Blue Tide color variants. The phone has a Li-Po 5000 mAh battery with a 33W fast charging support.

The Nord CE 2 Lite 5G is an entry-level phone for OnePlus and one of the cheapest they have released, so it's not fair to be too hard on it. Even then, there's not much about it that stands out or is noteworthy in any way. While the phone isn't expensive it also doesn't feel great value. In fact, some things like the 120Hz display (which often runs at just 90Hz) and the triple camera system (of which only one is usable) even make you feel a bit shortchanged. In the end, the Nord CE 2 Lite 5G is an okay entry-level phone from OnePlus. But they will have to do more if they want to stand out in this segment.

The OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G is OnePlus’ most affordable smartphone currently in India. At a starting price of Rs 19,999, the device becomes even more affordable for those who want to try the OnePlus Oxygen OS experience. While design preferences are subjective, I liked the overall design of the phone in its Blue Tide colour. The performance unit, too, should not disappoint most folks, except for gamers. The Nord CE 2 Lite 5G can run a battery marathon and be among the best performers in the segment. Sure, 33W fast charging isn’t the best in the segment but it can charge the phone from zero to 50 per cent in about 30 minutes, which is quite decent. I would have preferred the 90Hz AMOLED and dual speakers combo for a better multimedia experience. Also, while the main camera does a decent job, it would have been nice had there been an ultrawide sensor too. All said and done, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G can be purchased by those who want a reliable Oxygen OS experience from a phone that is well designed and offers great battery life.

The OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite starts at Rs 19,999 and for the price, the device brings a slew of enticing features to the affordable segment. That said, the smartphone isn’t perfect and from the unit’s LCD display to its mono speaker setup, the Nord CE 2 Lite will leave media-buffs wanting for more. Thankfully, the Nord CE 2 Lite employs a capable, 5G-ready chipset which – while not the quickest – is more than proficient at tackling everyday tasks. What’s more, unlike the competition, the device offers a bloat-free custom skin too, which is great. All said and done, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite is a decent phone for OnePlus loyalists. However, if you don’t mind a different interface layered on top of Android, then you’ll be better off with the Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus (review), which offers more well-rounded specs, or the Realme 9 SE 5G (review), which is backed by a more powerful processor.

I'm happy that we finally have a OnePlus smartphone that's priced under Rs. 20,000, but at the same time, I'm a little disappointed that the Nord CE 2 Lite 5G doesn't raise the bar in any significant way. The features it offers are good but not good enough for it to really stand out from the competition. The promised software updates and relatively quick charging are notable features, but other than this, the Nord CE 2 Lite 5G feels more like a mash-up of parts from other BBK-owned brands such as Realme and Vivo, making it look and perform very similar to its cousins. The OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G faces stiff competition from the likes of the Vivo T1, which is less expensive than the Nord's base variant by nearly Rs. 3,000 and features pretty much the same specs. The Moto G71 5G (Review) undercuts the Nord by roughly Rs. 2,000 and although it lacks a high-refresh-rate screen, it does have an AMOLED panel and an ultra-wide camera. If you have your heart set on owning a OnePlus smartphone or long-term software updates rank high on your 'must-have' list, you can consider the Nord CE 2 Lite 5G.

Earlier this week, OnePlus launched two new phones for the global market, one of which is a mid-range phone, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite. It is considered one of the cheapest current OnePlus phones, and it is one of its latest smartphones that support 5G networks. The latest Nord series device offers high performance and outstanding with its powerful capabilities that make it one of the best mid-range phones targeting young users with a 120Hz refresh rate screen and 64MP camera setup.

Okay, let’s just get the obvious questions out of the way here — Is the Nord CE 2 Lite as good as the flagship OnePlus 10 Pro? No. Is the Nord CE 2 Lite OnePlus’ fanciest model? No. Does the Nord CE 2 have the best camera? Definitely not. Whether or not the Nord CE 2 Lite is worth it, really depends on what you want to use your phone for. This is not a phone to show off or to be used to create a professional-level Vlog. The Nord CE 2 Lite is all about value and I see a lot of thought went into creating this phone. It’s a super value for the price. A vast majority of customers don’t want a phone as a liability and that’s where the Nord CE 2 Lite’s Rs 19,999 price gets interesting. I think this phone reaches the widest users possible and is where OnePlus succeeds.

The OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G runs Oxygen OS 12.1 based on Android 12. The UI offers a lot of new features and customisation options. I will dive deeper and explore all of them in the full review. My unit was running the March 2022 Android security patch. OnePlus promises two major Android updates and three years of security updates for the Nord CE 2 Lite 5G which should give it some advantages over the competition. After using the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G for a short while, I can say that it looks quite promising. However, the competition is stiff in this price segment. I will be testing its cameras, performance, battery life, and software soon, so stay tuned to Gadgets 360 for the full review of the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G.

The OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite is a value-for-money proposition on a budget, no doubt. It is a well-built, solid performer with impressive battery life. However, while it does shine in these areas, there are some areas where it falters.

Qualcomm Adreno 619:
