Critiques pour le/la Nubia RedMagic 8S Pro
The RedMagic 8S Pro again relies on the current Snapdragon 8 with a controllable active fan that is integrated into the casing. Compared to last year's model, there are only slight upgrades and the differences to the RedMagic 8 Pro are marginal.

To sum up, I am very happy that Nubia Red Magic 8S Pro is available in Europe. The phone can be ordered from Nubia's European store. There are three versions of this model to choose from. The base version offers 12 GB RAM and 256 GB memory in black and costs about $650. Then there are versions with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB of memory in silver and black, priced at $780 and $800. It is worth mentioning that if you have the previous model, i.e. Red Magic 8 Pro, it may be worth waiting for the next generation to see if Nubia improves the interface translation and other aspects. I will also add that Google Wallet does not work on this phone for now. This may change after the update. This is a smartphone from a series that really stands out and attracts attention. It offers great speakers, a gorgeous screen, and impressive performance. You won't complain about small details such as the fingerprint reader. The quality of photos from the main camera is also decent, although slightly lower quality can be expected from the front camera, especially in lower lighting.

If you're an avid mobile gamer and are looking for a device with top-of-the-line performance, a stunning display with a high refresh rate, and gaming-related features like responsive shoulder triggers and a capable co-processor, this phone delivers an outstanding gaming experience. However, if you're seeking an all-around device for everyday use, the RedMagic 8S Pro may not be the ideal choice. The camera performance is lackluster, especially in low-light conditions, and it doesn't compete with flagship camera phones. Additionally, the lack of an official IP rating for dust and water resistance is a bummer, and so is uncertainty regarding software support, which could be a concern for long-term usability. Ultimately, to buy or not to buy the RedMagic 8S Pro is your choice. If gaming performance is your primary focus, and you can overlook the camera shortcomings and uncertain software support, the device is one of the best options on the market right now.

The RedMagic 8S Pro is a value-packed gaming phone with all the latest internals and loads of memory to compute anything and everything, all at once without breaking a sweat. From heavy gaming to productivity, there's nothing this phone can't handle. You get one of the most advanced cooling systems in the mobile phone segment, and superbly responsive shoulder triggers for immersive gaming. The cameras are alright, but the fact that you get a headphone jack and killer battery specs coupled with Dolby DTS:X sound knock it out of the park. The RedMagic 8S Pro is not without flaws, but the biggest question is whether you should buy it or not.

The Red Magic 8S Pro might be nigh-on identical to its immediate predecessor, but we still can’t believe the value proposition it provides. For just $649 / £579 you’re getting top-tier gaming performance, mappable controls, rapid charging, and epic battery life, all wrapped up in a striking all-screen design. Cluttered software, a mixed camera set-up, and one or two non-gaming-optimised decisions mean that it’s not the very best gaming phone on the market. But at this price, it’s undoubtedly the best value.

So, should you buy the RedMagic 8S Pro? Well, we really can’t give you a yes or no answer here, it all depends on what you value in a phone. Truth be said, the RedMagic 8S Pro has a really competitive price tag. The most affordable model costs $649, and comes with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 flash storage. That variant is all-black. The ‘Platinum’ and ‘Aurora’ models come with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Those two models are metallic silver and black with a see-through back, and they do have different price tags. The ‘Platinum’ costs $779, while the ‘Aurora’ model costs $779. Those are still truly appealing price tags. If you like gaming on your phone, and you do appreciate great performance above everything, the RedMagic 8S Pro may be the phone for you. The fact it doesn’t have a display camera hole, and has a ton of gaming features is a huge plus.

The overclocked chip, fast storage and generous amount of RAM ensure the 8S Pro has fantastic performance – exactly what you want from a gaming phone. This is enhanced by the trigger buttons, effective cooling system, excellent battery life and dedicated software features. It’s also a great platform for media consumption thanks to the lovely display and the lack of a punch-hole or notch to spoil things. As an everyday phone it’s a little less appealing. The device is heavy, has no water-resistance rating, average cameras and selfies are laughably bad. Software bugs persist, but these can be fixed with updates. Ultimately, if you’re looking for a powerful gaming phone that doesn’t cost the Earth, then the Redmagic 8S Pro is easy to recommend. .

Nubia has plenty of experience with gaming phones at this point and it shows. The OEM knows how to put together a great gaming phone without much fluff. Despite its flaws like not-so-amazing camera experience, awkwardly translated UI and the lack of HDR support, the new 8S Pro is a solid gaming solution. We still like the design carried over from the 8 Pro and even managed to improve upon cooling. The 8S Pro has by far one of the best, if not the best, cooling solution we've tested. Continuous and strenuous workloads are a non-issue for the 8S Pro, so long gaming sessions shouldn't be a problem too. Display is great and battery life is impressive, to say the least, especially considering that the cell has to power up the overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. And, of course, the gaming-centric features are, as always nice and thoughtful for the better part.

If you want the top gaming experience on a mobile phone right now, you may find nothing fits the bill better than the RedMagic 8S Pro. After paying less than the going rate for a phone of this size and spec quality, it'll be even easier to appreciate how long the RedMagic 8S Pro lasts on a single charge, how quickly you can refill it, and how the handset looks just as powerful as the chipset inside. But in the long term, because of its uncertain software support window, dubious camera quality and missing water resistance rating, this phone could cause you trouble. It's not an easy recommendation like the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is, even though Samsung’s phone does cost quite a bit more. Once again, the RedMagic 8S Pro is very much a phone for gamers, even if RedMagic has made strides toward broadening the device’s appeal somewhat. The RedMagic 8S Pro boasts a lot of good qualities, but if your priorities lie beyond running games at their best, it's not a phone to shortlist.

The RedMagic 8S Pro is undeniably an improvement over its predecessor, but I’m hesitant to recommend it even though it retails for the same price. Nubia’s aggressive strategy with marketing its RedMagic series is deeply frustrating. Why bother buying the 9 Pro next year when you might expect a slightly improved version to arrive right around the corner? While some RedMagic S models have offered substantial changes, their inconsistency is frustrating. If you factor in sales, the RedMagic 8S Pro won’t offer the same value as the 8 Pro for some time. However, if you want a top-of-the-line gaming phone for an affordable price, the RedMagic 8S Pro is an excellent choice. But if you already own the 8 Pro, don’t let Nubia dazzle you with numbers and technical jargon; you won’t notice the difference. The RedMagic 8S Pro will be released on August 3.

Unboxing the Red Magic 8S Pro with a review of the gaming performance, now with an overclocked 'Leading' edition of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The Red Magic 8S Pro is one of the best value gamer smartphones in 2023, also boasting a 6000mAh battery, crispy AMOLED screen with hidden in-display camera and premium specs. UK price and release date info hopefully coming soon as I've been testing and reviewing the Red Magic 8S Pro ahead of the official launch. While some rumours had this gaming phone powered by a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 2, it's actually a boosted version of the original chipset with a pimped up prime core. Very similar to what Samsung crammed into its S23 smartphones.

All in all, the RedMagic 8S Pro is a very similar phone to the RedMagic 8 Pro. The previous model debuted as one of the fastest gaming phones on the market, and its successor is doing the same thing. To summarise what's changed - the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 comes with an overclock, the cooling solution has been improved, there's a new OS with extra gaming features and the styling has been updated. I love the new look, especially the subtle transparent fan window on an otherwise opaque rear panel. The gaming performance is impressive to see in benchmarks, but I wouldn't say it's very noticeable in practice. The system is far less buggy this time around, though. I had one major hiccup, but I'm confident this will be patched soon enough. I wouldn't recommend this as an upgrade for RedMagic 8 Pro owners, it's simply too similar. But for anyone else, it's a small improvement on what was already one of the best gaming phones. If you're looking for pure performance, look no further.

All in all, this is a strong handset. Performance is on par with anything else I've been hands on with, with the battery life even outstripping them slightly. In regular day-to-day use, you'll be more than satisfied – top that up with a few mobile gaming sessions and you're really going to get your money's worth here. The biggest downfall is probably the camera. As mentioned above, the main sensor is definitely good enough for most, but the others are lacking. That might be a deal-breaker for some. Regardless, it's worth a look. Take away the gaming credentials of the handset for a second – you're getting an 8 Gen 2 powered handset with a crisp, 6.8-inch display and a whopping battery for less than £750. That's a bargain. For gamers, it's a no-brainer, but even those in the hunt for a regular phone with a slightly more modest budget should give this a look.

Commentaire
Qualcomm Adreno 740:
