After going through all the major aspects of Motorola Razr 50, I would recommend this smartphone to users who want to experience a foldable smartphone at an affordable price. The Motorola Razr 50 boosts a compact and stylish design which will make the eyes turn. It offers a seamless transition from the cover to the main display, making the experience smooth. While it may not capture images like higher-end foldable devices, it manages to take social media-worthy images which are decent. Additionally, it also offers a great battery life, making the overall experience fluid for users who are using the device for their day-to-day activities. However, if you are looking for flagship performance, a top-notch camera, multitasking, and other heavy usage, then you can other for the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra which is priced higher than the base variant.

Flip phones have matured to a point where they aren't limited to any one particular type of person. You no longer need to be an early adopter willing to accept a higher degree of risk. These phones may not be quite as durable as a slab phone, but they're not fragile either. The Motorola Razr (2024) is a great entry point for people who are new to flips and want to dive in without spending $1000. It's great for anyone nostalgic about the days when we flipped open phones before using them. It's an option for anyone who is tired of big phones and wants something smaller. It's good for anyone looking for some novelty in a sea of devices that all feel sort of the same. The Razr, quite frankly, is a good fit for anyone who wants to buy a phone that will make them smile.

Priced at Rs 64,999, the Motorola Razr 50 is one of the most affordable foldable smartphones of the current generation. The company has not compromised on the software experience, offering a well-optimised foldable interface at a lower price point. Additionally, the larger cover screen enhances usability with support for third-party apps, dedicated apps, and widgets. That said, and despite the compromises that have been made in performance and camera departments, the Razr 50 is a solid option for those wanting to experience a foldable device. However, if you seek a more well-rounded package, the Razr 50 Ultra would be a better choice.

At Rs. 64,999, there are not a lot of other options in the market. You can check out the Oppo Find N3 Flip (Review), which offers much better performance and a better pair of cameras. Unfortunately, it does have a less usable outer screen. You also have the Tecno Phantom V Flip (Review) from last year, but that's not really better in any way. It's also an excellent alternative to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 if performance isn't your main concern. The Motorola Razr 50 is a great-looking phone with a lot of nostalgia and features that are somewhat let down by its processor. The outer display is great, you get a nice camera setup, excellent battery life for a phone with two screens, fast charging, an IPX8 rating, a super compact form factor, AI features, good software, and 9,999 style points.

The Motorola Razr 50 stands out from typical smartphones as a flip phone designed for lifestyle users who value style over performance. It excels in this area, offering a unique compact foldable design that no other phone in its price range matches. However, if you’re a power user or a camera enthusiast, you might find better options in smartphones like the Vivo X100 (review) and the OnePlus 12 (review). The Motorola Razr 50 delivers a premium experience with its flip design and compact form factor, all at a price well below a lakh. It offers reasonable performance and battery life for everyday use, and its camera quality —particularly for portraits and selfies — remains commendable.

Priced at ₹64,999, the Motorola Razr 50 brings notable advancements to the foldable phone market, particularly with its impressive 3.6-inch cover display that dwarfs the previous generation’s screen. It proves to be a solid option for first-time foldable users who don’t want to spend a fortune on a smartphone, but want to try out the novel form factor. Its design is sleek and stylish, featuring a solid build and a luxurious vegan leather back. However, the performance is not as strong as one might hope, with the MediaTek Dimensity 7300X processor showing its limitations in both benchmarks and real-world use. Motorola’s Razr series has long been synonymous with innovation in the world of foldable phones.

The Motorola Razr 50 presents a strong case as the best flip phone under Rs 50,000, combining affordability with premium features like high-quality displays, a capable camera system, a fast processor, and long-term software support. However, it faces competition from other foldable phones and traditional smartphones in this price bracket.

The Motorola Razr 50’s display performance showed some improvement over previous generation Razr models, but the flip phone trailed behind other foldable phones in our database. Like other phones in this form factor, the Razr 50 falls into the Ultra-premium category, even though its price falls towards the lower end of the segment. The Razr 50 offered good screen brightness under challenging sunlight, and its screen brightness was also well-suited to indoor environments, despite having a high reflectance. In addition, its display experience was very smooth in all tested use cases, with the device showing very few frame mismatches.

The Motorola Razr 50’s camera struggled to keep up with the performances of other foldable devices’ cameras in our database. The Razr 50 is the brand’s basic foldable model, equipped with primary and ultrawide lenses, which provide the best image quality results when shooting static subjects in outdoor conditions, such as cityscapes and landscapes. Image quality decreases noticeably when taking images indoors, or in low-light conditions.

The larger, more functional external display does a lot of the heavy lifting to improve the Razr 50’s appeal over the Razr 40. Not only is it just as useful as the Razr 50 Ultra’s cover screen – and a smidge better than the Galaxy Z Flip 6’s – it also looks much cleaner, giving the phone a more stylish aesthetic. Add in a brilliant main display and the best battery life on any flip phone, and there’s a lot here to like. Unfortunately, not every issue I had with the Razr 40 gets that same level of attention; performance is still drastically lower than you can get from similarly priced non-folding phones, and while gaming is adequate, the heat management is inconsistent. If these are compromises you’re willing to accept, the Motorola Razr 50 is the best affordable flip phone you can buy right now – though, admittedly, it’s lacking serious competition for that title.

With the Razr 50, Motorola has brought its entry-level foldable more in line with the premium Razr 50 Ultra. The simple addition of a larger, more functional cover display has made the Razr 50 into a viable alternative. It would feel downright cheap if it weren’t for the US model, known as the Razr 2024, which is priced significantly lower. It’s good to see the main camera getting some love, with a superior main 50Mp sensor that matches the Razr 50 Ultra. However, a lack of advanced processing smarts means that the shots aren’t as advanced, which might be a little tough to accept when you’re paying this much. The lack of progress when it come sto performance is disappointing, too. With all that said, the Razr 50 remains the most compelling foldable entry point on the market, undercutting Samsung’s broadly comparable Flip 6 while providing a phone that’s arguably more satisfying to use.

The biggest selling point of this year's Razr is that larger, 3.6-inch cover screen. I quickly grew accustomed to using it for tasks like snapping a selfie and responding to texts, or glancing at Google Maps in a more compact – albeit still totally useful – format. Motorola will need to find ways to better accommodate apps like Instagram and TikTok, for instance, but it feels like it's headed in the right direction. I do wish the external display covered the full front of the phone when folded, and it's a huge downside that you'll have to pay $300 more to get that experience with the Razr Plus. But, hey, it's progress.

The Motorola Razr 2024 is a big upgrade from last year's cheaper Razr model, bringing a larger, more useful cover screen and the same great battery life while boosting performance. Unfortunately, camera performance is inconsistent at best, laggy at worst, and tries too hard to overcompensate with overprocessed images.

Foldable goodness is trickling down into lower market tiers, with the Razr 50 now getting last year's Ultra perks, plus some improvements of its own. With a large and very useful cover display and submersion-grade water resistance, the 'plain' Razr makes a solid case against competing Samsungs. It's not the greatest cameraphone among its peers, but it does alright in general, and can be a winner in some situations (closeups). The excellent battery life doesn't hurt either. What's less than ideal, and likely the biggest blemish in the Razr 50's showing is its chipset, which is more of a midrange unit and not too well suited for gaming. Other, possibly less important missteps include the suboptimal display HDR handling, and the lack of a charger in the box - we'd take one of those over the bundled case.

The Razr 40 had good intentions behind it, but its execution was flawed compared to the much more capable foldable flagship competition. The Razr 50 doesn’t have this same problem. Motorola has fixed practically every major complaint we had with its predecessor, with a sturdier build, larger and more useful cover screen, better camera performance and improved battery life, while still coming in comfortably cheaper than practically every other foldable around. Yes, there are sacrifices to be had; the MediaTek chipset isn’t as performant as the flagship chipsets found in the more premium foldables, and it foregoes features like a 165Hz refresh rate, but for the most part, this is the core Razr experience at a pretty big discount.

While the Motorola Razr 50 has seen a price increase, it offers some nice improvements. The additional screen is now not only larger but also more functional, similar to last year’s Razr 40 Ultra. With this larger screen, you can open the smartphone less often, as most daily tasks can be managed directly from it. The screen quality, design, materials, build, sound, and battery life are all excellent. The device is now water-resistant (IPX8 instead of IP52), with updated hardware and software, and improved cameras. It comes highly recommended.

Twenty years ago, the Motorola Razr rightfully made millions of consumers prioritize style and tactility when searching for a new phone. The 2024 sequels are no exception. The phones are elegant and superbly made without skimping on hardware, performance, and usability. If you are looking to make the jump to a foldable phone or introduce someone to this form factor via a gift, the 2024 Razr duo should be on your radar, so long as you or the recipient don’t plan to hold onto your phones for more than 2-3 years. Otherwise, spend more on a Samsung Galaxy Z Series phone for its next-level power and platform support, or get a regularly shaped top-shelf Android like the Samsung Galaxy or a Google Pixel. The Razr+ is worth the price premium over the standard model for its bigger exterior display, more powerful chip, and superior camera.

The Motorola Razr (2024) is a great entry-level phone for those who are curious about the flip-style form factor. While the camera isn't the best, the rest of the Razr is incredibly solid, especially for the $699 asking price. Sure, you'll find more high-end foldables out there, but if you want to save some money (or perhaps pick it up as a secondary phone), this is the one to get.

It’s not the first time that Motorola produced a flip phone. They produced some decent phones a couple of decades ago, and even now, they are following the same legacy. The Motorola Razr 50 is undoubtedly a great choice if you want a budget-friendly flip phone. It can be considered one of the best flip phones of 2024. The phone didn’t have that many downsides, except the slow-performance hardware. If you want higher performance the Razr 50 Ultra would be a better option. Apart from this, Oppo and Vivo are also bringing their flagship flip phones at the end of this year. But for now, if you are looking for a decent flip smartphone, you should consider getting the Motorola Razr 50. However, the device doesn’t have many alternative options.

If you really want the 4-inch cover display, 165Hz refresh rate screens, extra horsepower, faster charging and reverse wireless, and a 50MP telephoto lens instead of a measly ultrawide sensor, then the Razr Plus 2024 is worth the $300 price difference. But for $700, the Razr 2024 is still a very good phone. Another alternative is the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6, which just came out. This is more expensive than even the Razr Plus, starting at $1,100 this year. However, it also has a large 3.4-inch cover display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a comparable dual-lens camera system, the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, 12GB RAM, and up to 512GB storage. But if getting a good deal is your number one priority, the Motorola Razr 2024 is easily your best option. It isn’t the very best flip phone you can buy in 2024, but it is the best value one — and that’s a big accomplishment.

If you're interested in the foldable form factor, the lower priced 2024 Motorola Razr is a safe bet. At $700, it has a big external screen and is significantly more affordable than the $1,000 Razr+ and even more so compared to the $1,100 Galaxy Z Flip 6, though the Razr+ is currently discounted to $899 on Amazon. It's also competitive with non-folding phones in its price range.

Motorola is setting a new benchmark for all foldable phones this year with the Razr (2024). For a foldable phone priced at $699, it receives a much more satisfying upgrade in my opinion than the pricier Razr Plus 2024 — complete with a new outer screen that expands its functionality, an attractive design with better water resistance, and an improved camera performance. Sure, it’s missing out on the Moto AI features that will eventually make their way to the Razr Plus 2024, but the savings it has over it and other foldable phones makes it attractive. Best of all, I cannot stress enough about how it sets a benchmark because of its price. You won’t find any other foldable phone that offers better value than this. I know that software support could be better, but its cheaper price point paired with its laundry list of excellent features make it a solid option.

Twenty years ago (with the help of some “hot” star power) Motorola reshaped humdrum mobile phones into design icons with the first RAZR. It’s spent the past five of those years reformulating that reinvention into the Razr 2024: a playful pocketable, clad in all the colors of the rainbow the bigger manufacturers keep (frustratingly) shying further away from. It's no exaggeration to call the new Razr two phones in one: a high-end Android flagship and a tiny minimalist phone, blended into a single foldable that reminds us that, oh right: technology can be (should be) fun!

With all that out of the way, it certainly sounds like the Motorola Razr (2024) is the best thing since sliced bread, at least if you can live without a few early AI features. Either way, the fact is that both the Motorola Razr Plus and the regular ol’ Razr are excellent this year, and both look capable of beating out Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 6, which has barely changed since the Flip 5. As a Razr Plus fanboy, I expected to love Motorola’s top flip phone, but I’m finding the vanilla Razr is far easier to recommend, and I’d dare to call it the best value we’ve seen from a foldable phone available in the US.

The 2024 Motorola Razr is a fine folding phone that sacrifices performance to reach a lower price. In its favor, it has outstanding battery life, a playful and flexible design, excellent inner and outer screens, and capable software from Motorola. We wish the performance were quicker and the cameras were sharper, but for $700, the Razr is a good entry point to folding phones. Upgrading to the Razr+ for $300 more gets you much faster performance, a larger external screen, and a more useful zoom camera. At that price, it's also worth considering the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5, especially if you use other Samsung devices.

If you're focused on power and performance above all else, you can find much better deals than the new Motorola Razr for $700. The OnePlus 12R and the Pixel 8a are significantly cheaper, and even Google's flagship Pixel 8 Pro is routinely on sale for just $50 more than this device. But if you're interested in a foldable, you probably aren't seeking the best specs or impressive cameras. Frankly, this is a pretty solid midrange phone built into a flip phone chassis, and that's really all it needs to be. It's a novelty, sure, but whether you're interested in the smaller folded form factor or you find this sort of device fashionable, it's pretty great to see a clamshell phone as good as this one available for just $700 — and that's before Motorola's inevitable sales. While I think most Android Police readers would be better served by the $1,000 Razr+, if you're interested in picking up a foldable without breaking the bank, this new Razr might be the way to go.

Overall, we’re happy with what the Razr+ (2024) and Razr (2024) bring to the table. Both phones received meaningful updates across the board without costing more, which is good news in this time of rampant inflation. It looks like the Motorola Razr (2024) will be a pretty cool upgrade to last year's Razr. Just adding that 3.6-inch screen but keeping the price at $700 already sounds like a gamechanger. That said, if you do own a Razr (2023) — you're fine. However, people that are new to the foldable space and don't feel like spending $1k on the new concept may find this device has enough to hook them in and keep them as Moto fans. Right now, we hope the camera gets some love since the Razr (2023) was lacking in that area.
