Is the 2024 Motorola Razr+ a better phone than the Razr? Yes. Still, I find it harder to recommend. The Razr is a great phone largely because of its price, offering much of what makes the Razr+ great at a price that substantially undercuts the Z Flip 6. Once you're considering spending the extra $300 to jump from the Razr to the Razr+, it's harder to ignore how many more years of software support you could expect to receive by going for the Z Flip 6 instead. A big part of the decision comes down to how much you intend to use the cover display and whether that's enough to overcome Motorola's substantially worse track record with software updates.

Motorola released the Razr 50 Ultra smartphone as an ultimate flip phone integrated with the Moto AI tech. It’s not your average Joe that provides mediocre results on the screen. However, the device brings the flagship-level hardware configuration, which is capable of providing a top-notch experience with ease. Alongside this, there are some downsides if you are looking for the new generation flipable smartphone. Besides this, the user interface may not have that many customization attributes. But going with the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra is a bit of a gamble since there are options like Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 available in the market. So, don’t make a haste decision and make the right choice according to your budget and requirements.

Honestly there is a lot to like about the Motorola RAZR 50 Ultra. Motorola have fixed a lot of the issues that did plague the previous editions for the razr, such as the hinge stiffness, battery life, external display and camera lens and software which have made this phone an absolute beast. Granted the only thing I would have liked to have seen is a wide angle lens but this is just a small issue over the remainder of the device. Honestly I can easily recommend the Motorola RAZR 50 Ultra to anyone looking to get a flip phone and it does take me back to my original Motorola RAZR V3 I had way back in the day (which still holds a very special place in my tech heart). My only question comes down to what I said last year is longevity of the display as you do tend to notice the seams from the curves over time and in some cases this can become the devices Achilles heel.

Twenty years ago, the Motorola Razr rightfully made millions of consumers prioritize style and tactility when searching for a new phone. The 2024 sequels are no exception. The phones are elegant and superbly made without skimping on hardware, performance, and usability. If you are looking to make the jump to a foldable phone or introduce someone to this form factor via a gift, the 2024 Razr duo should be on your radar, so long as you or the recipient don’t plan to hold onto your phones for more than 2-3 years. Otherwise, spend more on a Samsung Galaxy Z Series phone for its next-level power and platform support, or get a regularly shaped top-shelf Android like the Samsung Galaxy or a Google Pixel. The Razr+ is worth the price premium over the standard model for its bigger exterior display, more powerful chip, and superior camera.

The Razr 50 Ultra can be called the result of the evolutionary development of Motorola's line of folding smartphones, in which the manufacturer has almost “squeezed” the maximum out of the design. Therefore, if you like the format of folding smartphones and are not afraid of the need to use them carefully, then pay attention to this model.

Once considered a novelty, foldable flip phones are a totally viable alternative to the conventional form factor of yore. The Motorola Razr 50 Ultra is a prime example, proving itself a worthy premium phone that brings the fun back to technology. Sure, for the same amount of money or less, you could get a more powerful phone. High-end gaming enthusiasts and productivity obsessives are still best served by traditional non-folding handsets. But for everyone else, the Razr 50 Ultra covers all bases. With its beautiful displays and a high-quality camera array, this isn’t just a great flip phone; this is a great phone, no qualifiers required.

As a flip phone that brings noticeable upgrades over its predecessor, the Razr 50 Ultra is an easy choice at around Rs 95,000. The enlarged cover screen is genuinely useable now and allows you to check and reply to messages and emails, use apps like Maps, and get an overview of the weather or calendar appointments more easily than before. The addition of Gemini on the cover screen is a delight for those who like to use AI assistants frequently for various tasks. Despite a slightly weaker chipset on paper and shorter software support, the Razr 50 Ultra is seems a more complete package compared to the Galaxy Z Flip6. The Razr 50 Ultra’s bright and smooth display, combined with a vegan leather finish, decent cameras, and good battery life, make it one of the most improved flip phones of 2024.

More often than not, we do not have the luxury of testing a phone for months before writing its review. To be fair, after having tested enough phones, one can judge the capabilities of a new model within a few weeks. As a result, the current Google flagship, Pixel 8 Pro already made it to our list of best phones of 2023 at the end of last year. However, for a truly wholesome experience and to see how it ages, one needs to use a device for a considerable amount of time.

The Motorola Razr 50 Ultra is a good flip phone that I recommend you buy during sale to get it at a lower price. The cover screen is great and offers a fantastic experience with cool animations and a practical design, and a lot of functionality. The battery life is good with average usage and the camera can deliver good shots in ideal lighting conditions. The general performance is also smooth. You can obviously get a more powerful gaming and overall experience with other flagships with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset but then you will miss out on the compact flip phone experience. You choose.

With the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra, the company has made some significant improvements in the design, weight and expanded cover display. However, In my opinion, the camera could have been improved as it did not provide a premium quality experience. The battery life is again very average, however, this is the case for several foldable smartphones in the market. Additionally, in terms of performance, the smartphone is impressive for day-to-day usage, but it is not ideal for heavy smartphone users who like to play extended hours of graphic-intensive games and conduct other demanding tasks. However, my overall experience with the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra was smooth and delightful.

If you're interested in the foldable form factor, the lower priced 2024 Motorola Razr is a safe bet. At $700, it has a big external screen and is significantly more affordable than the $1,000 Razr+ and even more so compared to the $1,100 Galaxy Z Flip 6, though the Razr+ is currently discounted to $899 on Amazon. It's also competitive with non-folding phones in its price range.

I tested the Motorola Razr Plus 2024 for two weeks before starting this review. I received the Razr Plus 2024 and the Razr 2024 together, and I used the Razr Plus as my only smartphone for work purposes. I checked messages, managed my calendar, wrote stories, and edited photos on the display. I also used the phone as a primary personal phone: controlling my smart home devices, playing games, and managing my social life. I tested the durability of the phone thoroughly. Every time I opened and closed the phone I did so with deliberate force. I used the phone in the bathtub, and washed it in the sink. I dropped it a few times onto the pavement. It still looks just fine. To test the AI features, I used a standard prompt list that I always use with AI image-generation tools to prove that they resort to common stereotypes.

Foldable clamshell smartphones surely have found a sweet spot in the compact flagship segment which always struggled with limited options to choose from. Currently it's just the Samsung Galaxy S24 (Rs. 74,999) and the Google Pixel 8 (Rs. 61,999) in India. While previously riddled with constant heating issues, poor battery life and lacklustre camera performance due to their slim designs, clamshell foldables have now finally reached a point of refinement where they can be recommended as daily drivers instead of compact or even plus-sized flagships. That said, the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra can be your first foldable. Unlike last year's model, Motorola has remodelled the Razr (in a good way), and it checks the long list of boxes with features that buyers expect from such a device.

The Razr 50 Ultra continues to push for more faith in foldable phones, aiming to make them as widely accepted as traditional smartphones. It’s a long journey, and Motorola seems to be aware of that. Overall, if you ask me, I’d say the Razr 50 Ultra is a pretty solid upgrade, even if it’s not a surprising one. The improvements in battery life, performance, and the cover screen will be immediately noticeable, but I’d like to see how Motorola improves the camera game, where the Razr is currently lagging. Priced at Rs 99,999, the Razr 50 Ultra isn’t cheap and doesn’t have to appeal to everyone. With Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 6 as its main competition, the Razr 50 Ultra remains one of the best foldable phones to buy on the market despite its flaws.

The Motorola Razr 50 Ultra has made solid improvements on the 2023 foldable while managing to undercut its biggest rival, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6. Its improved battery life means it can be used for a day and a half on a single charge, while the more powerful main camera means the phone is not far behind candy bar flagships. Motorola’s decision to cut the ultrawide lens is a fair trade-off. The large external display is a joy to use, as are all the quirky features of this unique build. All these elements make this flip phone a truly unique piece of tech – one that has even tempted some of my Apple loyalist friends. Sure, not all the apps are optimised for this screen, the internal selfie camera isn’t the best and the phone gets a bit hot here and there. However, this is the strongest Razr yet, and the best clamshell foldable on the market right now considering the price you pay.

Motorola has a winner on its hands with the Razr 50 Ultra; it not only fixes the few complaints we had about its predecessor but it continues to improve in key areas like the cover screen experience and further reducing the inner display’s crease – areas where competitors like Samsung still need to improve, even compared to its recently-revealed Galaxy Z Flip 6. The decision to ditch the ultrawide for a telephoto lens may be a controversial one, but I think it plays well into the selfie-first focus for clamshell foldables in general.

This phone doesn't have the best cameras, it's not the fastest device you can buy and its biggest competitor is likely releasing a newer version of its foldable clamshell phone this week. But when I consider the Motorola Razr Plus on its own terms, it is outstanding. And, perhaps more importantly, it's a delight to use. Simply put, I enjoy using it more than phones that cost $200 to $300 more. Motorola found a unique approach to the Razr Plus last year, and this year's model builds on its strengths and addresses many of its shortcomings. I genuinely can't remember the last time I used a phone this fun. Motorola prioritized the experience of using a Razr Plus over pretty much anything else.

The Razr 50 Ultra has doubled down on everything that made the previous generation such a great flip phone. The cover screen is even larger and more usable, water resistance is now class-leading, and the new camera hardware is very capable – although image processing still isn’t quite as consistent as some rival clamshells. Battery life is very good, and performance is absolutely on the level I’d expect from a flip flagship. I love Moto’s open approach to running apps on the cover screen, too; the approaching Galaxy Z Flip6 looms large, but Samsung’s widgets-first approach isn’t nearly as useful. If Motorola can sort its long-term software support, this is really all the flip phone anyone could need.

There aren't too many choices if you're in the market for a modern flip phone. The 2024 Motorola Razr+ is easily one of the best of the bunch thanks to its high-quality hardware, fun-to-use form factor, excellent everyday performance, productivity-enhancing software, and long-term software support from Motorola. It falls a little flat when it comes to the camera, but that's a common shortcoming across flip phones. You get most of the same features for $300 less with the Motorola Razr, though you sacrifice some performance, while Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 5 covers much of the same ground for the same $999.99 price. Any of these three phones are worth considering, depending on your budget and needs.

Even though I wish the phone was launching with its suite of Moto AI features, I still think that the Motorola Razr Plus (2024) is in a good position because of all the iterative improvements found throughout. It maintains the same stylish looks that has made the Razr one of the most attractive foldable phones around, while adding a bigger outer screen, much longer battery life, faster charging and camera performance improvements. What I like even more is the fact that the Razr Plus price remains unchanged at $999, which should give Samsung and everyone else something to worry about.

If you want a flip phone and can afford to drop a grand on one, yes. Motorola Razr+ 2024 resting on a blue tablecloth, closed, facing the camera showing the time on the lock screen. Setting cost aside, this is probably the best phone on the market right now. The cameras are capable, the battery life and chipset are good enough, and the full-size cover display lives up to the promise of the form factor. The only real downside is that we still don’t trust Motorola when it comes to software support. Even if it did get its act together, Motorola's three-year promise would lag behind Samsung’s.

To say that I'm impressed with the Motorola Razr Plus 2024 is a bit of an understatement. Motorola actually listened and addressed the biggest shortcomings of last year's model, giving us better battery life, better cameras, better hardware, and even a better cover screen experience. The 2023 model already seemed ahead in many ways, setting a standard for the flip phone category that was once established by Samsung. Now, Motorola is using the Razr Plus 2024 to solidify itself in the foldable space with a flip phone that's almost perfect. Of course, no phone is perfect, and the Razr Plus 2024 may not be enticing to everyone, especially after swapping the ultrawide camera for a telephoto lens. However, if that doesn't bother you, I feel like many of my biggest gripes can (and likely will) be addressed with some software updates. Even with the Galaxy Z Flip 6 right behind it, I have a feeling the Razr Plus 2024 will be the best flip phone of the year.

The Motorola Razr+ (2024) is a great flip phone, and it’s coming out at a time when we are expecting some other great flip-style folding phones to launch, like the Galaxy Z Flip 6 (and Fold 6), as well as a flip phone from HONOR and OPPO in the next few months. So we’ll have to revisit this review in a few weeks or months and see if it still stands up as well to the competition. But as of right now, this is the best flip phone available.

Last year’s Razr Plus was one of my personal favorite smartphones, though my recommendation of it came with some caveats. As much as I enjoyed using it, I also recognized that it had numerous shortcomings. Its cameras were disappointing, its battery life was lacking, and the hinge trailed behind the competition. I was OK looking past those things, but if someone asked me which folding flip phone they should buy, I’d reluctantly recommend the Galaxy Z Flip 5. The Motorola Razr Plus 2024 retains the fun and charm of its predecessor while improving upon it in virtually every way. The hinge feels better and more reliable. The cover display is larger. Camera quality is significantly improved. Battery life is longer. Charging speeds are faster.

The Motorola Razr and Razr+ are both available to preorder starting on July 10 at T-Mobile, AT&T and at Motorola.com, Amazon.com, and Best Buy. The Razr+ (2024) will be priced the same as last year at $999. Meanwhile the Motorola Razr will go on presale at T-Mobile on July 10th, and will be available unlocked from Motorola.com, Amazon, and Best Buy on July 24 for $699. Put simply, the Motorola Razr+ stands a good chance of being my favorite flip-style phone this year, too. The improvements in the camera and cover screen are huge, and really make this foldable feel complete and ready for the masses. If rumors about Samsung's Flip 6 ambitions are true, the Razr+ will still have a larger external cover screen than its Galaxy rival. Size isn't everything but, by addressing most of the concerns from last year, Motorola has not only made a foldable that works as successfully closed as it does open, but a contender for best Android device of 2024.

So, here’s the dilemma: I love using the Razr Plus, but I find it very hard to recommend. The cover screen is a major part of the flip phone experience, and everything about it is better this time around. It’s easier to use, does more helpful things, and is much more customizable. If you’re a flip phone enthusiast like me, it has all the right moves. But I wouldn’t recommend it to someone who’s more casually interested in a flip phone or finds the nostalgic factor appealing. You can get a much better camera in a slab-style phone that costs a lot less, and a good camera matters when it’s the one you carry every day. Motorola’s track record for timely software updates remains spotty, too. And the inner screen just isn’t up to the standards of a modern flagship phone.

I'll say this without qualm: the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra is easily the best flip phone you can buy in 2024, without exception. It's nicely upgraded compared to its predecessor and has the biggest and most usable cover display too. So why not a full-marks score? Ultimately the compromises of any flip phone don't quite outweigh the benefit of a flagship for me. Until some major breakthrough is made to negate folding displays' crease visibility, and coatings created to completely reject fingerprint smears, there are always going to be minor niggles.

The Motorola Razr 50 Ultra is an intriguing blend of cutting-edge design and innovative AI features. However, its own AI hardware is lacking with the phone banking on Google’s suite of third-party AI features for most of the heavy lifting. It has a standout cover screen that sets it apart from other flip phones and it offers a premium feel and a satisfying foldable design. That said, the performance and throttling issues may not fully justify its premium price. Additionally, the battery life is strictly mediocre. Motorola has recently launched the next generation Razr, dubbed the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra, to much fanfare.

With a high price tag of Rs. 99,999 this year, it all seems justified, given the numerous upgrades available on this year's model. Motorola also offers a sturdy case in the box along with a premium Moto Buds+ TWS (Review) priced at Rs 9,999, which seems like a sweet deal. What remains to be seen is whether Motorola has addressed the heating issues and average still and video camera performance of last year's Razr 40 Ultra into something better this year in its mission to perfect its foldable. And this is something I will conclude in our full review which will be out soon.

With the starting prices of the Razr 50 Ultra and the Galaxy Z Flip 6 drifting further apart, I’m less concerned about their performance differences. The Razr is still a nippy handset and I think that dipping back under four figures is more valuable than the extra horsepower. Add in the effective telephoto camera, improved water resistance and upgraded external display, and we’ve got a strong contender for the best clamshell of 2024.

The smartphone release calendar typically looks like this: New Android flagships come out early in the year, then mid-range phones in the spring, followed by foldables in the summer, and the iPhone in the fall. Right now, we're in stage three, with Motorola kicking things off this week by announcing two new flip phones, the 2024 Razr and Razr Plus. The two phones look similar to last year's models, and the Razr and Razr Plus are also priced the same at $699 and $999, respectively, but three notable differences make them even more worthy of your consideration in 2024.

Last year's Razr Plus was a big moment for Motorola and the industry, and the new Motorola Razr Plus (2024) is absolutely the right fix to all the little woes of the original. Motorola has fixed the big issue with the wobbly hinge, it has nearly completely eliminated the crease, it has delivered once again in terms of style, and even battery life and charging have all improved to make this nearly the complete package. However, if you are looking for the best camera on a flip phone, this might not quite be the very best one and the lack of an ultra-wide camera might be important to some people too. The other big "if" is software updates. While other companies have pledged an incredible seven years, Motorola still guarantees only three years of OS updates.

Costing $1,699 in Australia, pre-orders for Moto’s latest flip phone start on 2 July ahead of its 17 July launch date. Anyone who pre-orders between 2-16 July also gets a set of Moto Buds+ valued at $249. This year’s range comes in three colours: Midnight Blue, Spring Green, and Peach Fuzz – 2024’s Pantone Colour of the Year. Overseas, Motorola also revealed a non-Ultra version of the Razr 50, and the Moto Tag tracking device, neither of which have been confirmed for Australia yet. Last year, Motorola brought both the standard Razr 40 and Razr 40 Ultra models locally, so an announcement may come in the future.

Don't let its looks fool you because the Motorola Razr Plus 2024's stylish design is filled with upgrades that could make it the best flip foldable phone yet. You get a larger 4-inch cover display, a sleek design, faster charging and a 2x telephoto zoom, plus faster charging. And the AI features look promising.

Motorola might have a winner on its hands with the Razr 50 Ultra; it not only fixes the few complaints we had about its predecessor but it continues to improve in key areas like the cover screen experience – areas where competitors like Samsung still need to improve. The decision to ditch the ultrawide for a telephoto lens may be a controversial one, but I think it plays well into the selfie-first focus for clamshell foldables in general. I’m certainly going to enjoy fully testing this phone out in the coming days, so head back soon for the in-depth review.

The Razr 40 Ultra was a very capable clamshell foldable with just a few minor imperfections. This new generation addresses some of those complaints and brings yet other improvements. Most notable, perhaps, is the introduction of a proper IPX8-rating, which brings the Razr's water resistance up to the Galaxy Z Flip level. The Moto is without competition in its market segment when it comes to charging speed, its displays are likely the best in its class, and its speakers are better than most (foldables or otherwise). The software implementation on the cover screen is one 2x button in the camera UI short of perfection, and Hello UI is easy to like in its entirety as well. Motorola is taking a bit of gamble with the camera setup - or is it a calculated strategy?

The Motorola Razr+ 2024 and Motorola Razr 2024 are here, and they're packed with upgrades to the exterior display, cameras, AI features and more. Let's just say, it's been 20 years since the OG Razr, and these flip foldables have come a long way.

The Motorola Razr Plus and Razr are back for 2024! The Chicago-based company took last year's models another step farther with new colors and finishes, upgraded cameras, Moto AI and Google Gemini. Motorola announced the phones along with new cases with straps that let you wear them across your body or with pearls and gold on your wrist.

Overall, we’re happy with what the Razr+ (2024) and Razr (2024) bring to the table. Both phones received meaningful updates across the board without costing more, which is good news in this time of rampant inflation. The only questionable change is with the Razr+ (2024), which drops the ultrawide shooter for a telephoto camera. You’ll have to stay tuned for our full review to find out if this is a dealbreaker or not. The $999 Moto Razr+ (2024) will be available for pre-order on July 10 from T-Mobile, AT&T, Motorola.com, Amazon, and Best Buy, and will be available for purchase from these stores on July 24. Pre-orders for the $699 Moto Razr (2024) will start on July 10 at T-Mobile, and sales will start on July 24 at T-Mobile, Consumer Cellular, XFinity Mobile, Motorola.com, Amazon, and Best Buy – with more carriers to follow.

This seemed very cool, and it was an Android offering to compete against Apple Intelligence. However, like Apple Intelligence, it isn’t available yet, but I’m eagerly waiting for Motorola to release this feature. The Motorola Razr+ is available for pre-order on July 10th and comes out at select carriers and retailers on July 24th for $1,299.99. I need to spend some time with the Razr+ before deciding whether that price is worth it. However, my first experiences with the device have been incredibly positive, and I’ll share more about my thoughts in the coming weeks.

It’s early days, but the Razr 50 Ultra seems to have doubled down on everything that made the previous generation such a great flip phone. The cover screen is even larger and more usable, water resistance is now class-leading, and the new camera hardware seems capable enough at first glance. Battery life is an unknown, and I’ll need to test those cameras in low light to see how well they compare to the current crop of clamshells. The approaching Galaxy Z Flip 6 looms large, too – but unless Samsung has changed its approach to running apps on the outer screen, I have a feeling this will be the more usable phone of the two.

It might have taken the company a bit of time before it got things right with its revived Razr series, but Motorola hit the spot with last years Razr series, especially with the premium Razr Plus. The 2024 Razr Plus will represent what comes after building a great foundation, with several important tweaks and a couple of impactful ones such as the new cameras. It really sounds like we are about to see a solid flip-style foldable from Motorola, so we would suggest you wait and see how it turns out to be before buying a new foldable in 2024.
