Our Microsoft Surface 7 Pro+ review for the Philippines reveals that it deserves its premium price tag. While it is expensive for a computer rocking a Core i5 processor AND has no included keyboard out of the box, the main selling point of the Surface Pro 7+ is its built-in LTE-A connectivity for keeping you productive even in places where there is no WiFi, along with an upgradable SSD. There may be mixed thoughts on the latter given its caveats, but we will still take an upgradable SSD any time of the day. Being one of the pioneers of 2-in-1 laptops, the Surface Pro 7+ is still a leader, especially with how its optional Type Cover balances both form and function–with Apple’s expensive Magic Keyboard for iPad only rivaling it.

The Surface Pro 7 Plus is a solid 2-in-1 detachable that offers a number of configurations. The webcams and speakers are both fantastic and will definitely up your meeting game to a whole new level. The display is also pretty great, making watching your favorite shows on any streaming service enjoyable during your down time. You can even easily swap out the SSD if you want something bigger or if you need it replaced.

The Surface Pro 7+’s minor upgrades make it the best Microsoft tablet to date. But the changes aren't enough to justify the price rises, and with the keyboard, it becomes very expensive unless you opt for an entry-level model.

Having taken stock of the changes Microsoft has made to the Surface Pro 7+, we’re really not sure why it merited launching as an entirely separate device. At its core, the only differences between this device and the Surface Pro 7 are a faster processor, a removable SSD and the option for mobile internet - none of which really feel like they’re worth all this fanfare.

In summation, the average user will see noticeable improvements when flying around the operating system and in GPU-heavy applications as most of Microsoft and Intel’s efforts were seemingly focused on graphics.

The Surface Pro 7+ is a fine tablet that addresses some of the problems we had with the consumer model. Its 11th Gen Intel chips deliver faster speeds and much better graphics performance, and the tablet lasts about an hour longer on a charge than before. Those enhancements join a bright, vivid display, excellent keyboard accessory, and good cameras.

I’m still a big fan of the Surface Pro, despite the lack of design changes. Microsoft is clearly catering to a specific audience here, and the Surface Pro 7 Plus has been built for businesses. I hope that means we’ll soon see a consumer-focused Surface Pro that mixes everything that’s great about the Surface Pro X with the power and performance of Intel’s chips.

One of my biggest issues with the Surface Pro is that it still hangs onto all of that legacy stuff. It's still got the massive bezels, and it still has the Surface Connect port instead of going all-in on USB Type-C. But of course, these things are exactly what businesses want. They want the old chargers they have lying around to work in the new model, and they want their Type Covers to work so they don't have to buy new ones. It all makes sense for a business audience.

We still don’t know why this tablet wasn’t called the Surface Pro 8. That’s how much the Surface Pro 7+ has improved over the Surface Pro 7. Because the new Tiger Lake CPU appears to have played a major role in this upgrade, we’ll be interested to see how the Surface Pro 7+ compares to other Tiger Lake-based tablets coming down the pike. If you’d like to wait to shop the alternatives, we understand.

The Surface line always brings a bit of a price premium along with it, so it’s not the most budget-friendly option, but you do get what you pay for in design and build quality. This isn’t the next big thing in Surface Pro design. (We’ll see what happens when the Pro 8, or whatever the successor is called, comes along.) But it is a solid iteration on what's still the best detachable 2-in-1 around, one we can easily recommend to entrepreneurs and IT buyers alike shopping for a new business-friendly convertible.

The new Surface Pro Plus has a few extra features to appeal to the business and education crowds. IT departments will appreciate the new emphasis on remote deployment. With Windows Autopilot, for example, devices can ship directly from Microsoft to employees, already configured with your company's security settings and software, so an IT person won't have to unbox each Surface, image it, rebox it and send it on to the employee. The new surface 7 Pro Plus also has a removable SSD drive for extra data security.

Intel Iris Xe G7 80EUs:
