The Lenovo Slim 7 delivers strong performance and good battery life in an easy-to-carry design that feels good to type on. Factor in the beautiful 14-inch OLED touchscreen and $999 asking price and you start to see why I think this is a killer deal, and one of the best business laptops of 2024.

I really like the Lenovo Slim 7 because of its great OLED touchscreen, strong performance, good battery life and comfortable design. I like it enough that I held onto our review unit a bit longer than usual so I could carry it to some events and use it for work, something I don't usually do with review hardware. Sure, the power button is in an inconvenient spot and the charging cable is too short. You also can't play many games at great framerates on this machine, though I had plenty of fun playing older strategy games like Endless Legend on the go. If you want something more powerful in a laptop for roughly the same price, I recommend looking at a budget gaming laptop like the MSI Bravo 15 instead.

Thanks to its compact dimensions and snappy performance combined with a long battery life, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i (14″, Gen 9) could be a good choice for professionals who travel a lot. Now, the clocks of the optional Core Ultra 7 155H are decent, not impressively high. That has its positive side – the noise under full CPU load isn’t intrusive while the overall performance is still on point. At the same time, the comfortable keyboard doesn’t feel scorching hot to the touch. The 14-inch OLED display (LEN140WUXGA (LEN88AC)) is great! It covers fully the the DCI-P3 gamut, and it boasts a high max brightness of 388 nits in SDR mode alongside an infinite contrast ratio and good color coverage. The only con of the panel is the PWM usage.

The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i costs Rs 1,07,990 in India. For the price, the laptop gets a lot right. It offers a sharp 1200P OLED display, excellent performance chops and a sleek and elegant design. It’s quite durable, too, and features a comfortable keyboard deck as well. The display’s refresh rate could’ve been higher, though, and I wish the laptop offered a better webcam as well. The laptop’s battery backup also leaves something to be desired. Still, I believe it strikes a good balance between the Core Ultra 7 155U-powered HP Envy 14 (review) and the more powerful Dell Inspiron 14 Plus (review), which does not have an OLED display. Let me know what you make of the device in the comments below.

Another year and another familiar design. But really, this Lenovo Yoga 9i gen 9 is still a fantastic 2-in-1 portable computer. Between the screen and versatility, the Yoga 9i can easily be your tablet and your daily driver laptop. As a multimedia consumption device, it’s perfect, because you get the good sounding speakers on top of the beautiful screen.

With the number of laptops coming out with similar specs, it was difficult to get too excited about the Lenovo Slim 7. That said, if this isn’t exactly the laptop of your dreams, it’s hardly the laptop of your nightmares either. Looking at performance alone, it held its own with the competition and, in multicore testing, did very well. The bloatware was the most notable issue with this laptop, but it’s only a problem for as long as you let it remain a problem. The software doesn’t seem too sneaky to be difficult to uninstall, and once it’s gone, you won’t have to worry about it anymore. The just-average battery life is harder to overlook, but there is enough juice here to get most people through a workday. One alternative mentioned above is the Asus Zenbook Duo, with its titular dual screens.

The Lenovo Slim 7i is a sturdy and compact laptop that splits the difference between mainstream and premium. Its chief attraction is the 14-inch OLED touch display that boasts vivid colors and stellar contrast. Unlike the 2.8K OLED panels on similarly sized laptops such as the HP Spectre x360 14 or Lenovo ThinkPad Z13 Gen 2, however, the Slim 7i's display offers a pedestrian 1,920x1,200-pixel resolution. It suffices for the size, but text isn't quite as sharp as it is on a 2.8K OLED display. Inside, the laptop features an Intel Core Ultra CPU, an ample 32GB of RAM and integrated Intel Arc graphics. The Slim 7i's aluminum enclosure is of premium quality and passed MIL-STD 810H tests for ruggedness. It feels rock solid and yet is thin and light. It's not quite the head-turner as the Spectre x360 14 and lacks its awesome haptic touchpad, but it also costs less than the HP.

The Lenovo Slim 7 14 is boring in the best way possible. It’s a competent laptop that delivers good build quality and solid performance at a reasonable price, yet it lacks any single feature or advantage that might give it a clear edge over the competition. In this it differs from Lenovo’s more expensive laptops, which often include cutting-edge features like Mini-LED displays or a miniature soundbar built into the hinge. The result is a competent, well-priced laptop that should make most people happy, but your buying decision will ultimately come down to price. If the Slim 7 14 happens to be on sale for less than an Asus Zenbook 14 OLED or the HP Pavilion Plus Laptop 14, get the Lenovo. And if the opposite is true, go with the competitor.

The new Lenovo Slim 7i 14 deploys a peppy Intel Core Ultra chip to good effect inside a nicely built, compact metal body. This is more or less exactly the experience you’d expect from looking at the laptop—a travel-ready and long-lasting system that feels good in hand. The OLED screen is vibrant, though a higher resolution may be expected at this price, like those seen on its competition. And there’s also no discrete graphics to sweeten the pot, unlike Lenovo’s own 2023 Slim Pro 7 Gen 8, which included one for less. Still, it doesn’t err in any major way; the Acer Swift Go 14 is a close comparison, swapping a better screen for more RAM and storage. The roughly $200 price difference over the Asus Zenbook 14X OLED can be explained by the doubled RAM and storage, but neither is especially necessary in this category, and the Zenbook boasts a higher-resolution 120Hz display at $999.

Overall, the Lenovo Slim 7i Gen 9 14-inch is a well-rounded, compact laptop that performed well in all of our tests. It handles everyday productivity tasks with ease and it can even run some casual games with the integrated Intel Arc graphics. The 10-hour battery life is plenty to get you through a full day of work or studying and the bright, crisp OLED display is easy on the eyes. While the webcam and touchpad on the Lenovo Slim 7i could be better, the snappy keyboard and stellar audio help make up for it. The Slim 7i also outperformed some more expensive competitors in our tests, including the 15-inch M3 Macbook Air, so it’s definitely worth considering if you’re looking for a compact productivity laptop.

The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i is a strong contender for those seeking a laptop with solid performance, excellent battery life, and a stunning display. The latest generation of Intel’s processors brings exciting advancements, particularly with the inclusion of AI features that promise even more functionality once developers tap into the new NPUs. The Yoga Slim 7i still manages to handle graphics-intensive tasks and light gaming remarkably well despite lacking a dedicated GPU, unlike previous Intel laptops. Its sleek design and feature-rich build add to its appeal, although a faster display would have been a nice addition, the overall image quality is impressive. All in all, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i is a solid choice for users in search of a thin-and-light laptop.

Like I said earlier in the review, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i fills a very important gap in India’s laptop market. It is relatively affordable than its much pricier competitor and the compromises it asks you to make are something most people can easily live with. The laptop is well-built and has a great keyboard, a decent display and great performance. The Yoga Slim 7i delivers more power and handles the thermal stress that comes with it even better.
