The Legion Y720 almost delivers what Lenovo promised from the start and we wonder why the Y520 didn’t have some of those features, like the cooling system, for example. Either way, the Legion Y720 offers updated thin and robust chassis featuring brushed aluminum, much better cooling system than the one in the Y520, more powerful GPU (GTX 1060) and better sound quality with Dolby Atmos. All of this justifies the price premium but unfortunately, the display is a big miss.

Lenovo's new Legion gaming laptops are ready for VR and more

As of right now, it seems that the 15-inch Y520 model is missing most of these high-end extra features, and only supports the Nvidia 1050 graphics chip, which means it won't work with the Oculus Rift or HTC Vive. Considering other PC makers put Nvidia 1060 or better GPUs into even 13-inch laptops, it seems like something we'd like to have in a future revision. Even the 17-inch tops out at the Nvidia 1060, not the faster 1070 or 1080, but in my hands-on testing in other laptops, the 1060 is perfectly fine for virtual reality and full-resolution, high-detail-level gaming.

Well, the Y720 gives some and then takes some. The low price, looks, connection ports are its plus and perhaps also the keyboard and speakers. Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" de la légende anglaise, novo (latin) pour nouveau) a été fondée en 1984 en tant que société chinoise de commerce d'ordinateurs. En 2004, la société était le plus grand fabricant d'ordinateurs portables en Chine et, après l'acquisition de la division PC d'IBM en 2005, le quatrième au monde. En plus des ordinateurs de bureau et des ordinateurs portables, la société fabrique des moniteurs, des projecteurs, des serveurs, etc., et se spécialise dans le développement, la fabrication et la commercialisation d'électronique grand public, d'ordinateurs personnels, de logiciels, de solutions d'entreprise et de services connexes.
En 2016, l'entreprise s'est classée au premier rang mondial des ventes d'ordinateurs. Il le détenait encore en 2023 avec environ 23% de part de marché mondiale. Les gammes de produits importantes sont Thinkpad, Legion et Ideapad.
En 2011, elle a acquis une participation majoritaire dans Medion AG, un fabricant européen de matériel informatique. En 2014, Motorola Mobility a été racheté, ce qui a donné un coup de pouce à Lenovo sur le marché des smartphones.
Ces cartes graphiques de milieu de gamme peuvent faire tourner tout les jeux récents de façon fluide. Les jeux gourmands ne peuvent être joués qu'avec les détails réglés sur moyen.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Mobile:
La GTX 1060 pour ordinateur portable est basée sur la puce GP106 et intègre 1280 unités de calcul shaders. Par rapport à la version destinée aux PC de bureau, les fréquences ont été légèrement revues à la baisse. Les jeux devraient être fluides en Full HD avec les détails au maximum.

Intel Kaby Lake:
i5-7300HQ:
Processeur quad-core pour ordinateur portable basé sur l'architecture Kaby Lake. Cadencé entre 2.5 et 3.5 Ghz, il est dépourvu de l'HyperThreading réservé aux Core i7. Il offre une puce graphique intégrée HD Graphics 630 cadencée entre 350 et 1000 MHz. Le processeur est gravé selon une lithographie d'une finesse de 14 nm, légèrement améliorée par rapport à Skylake.
