With the Honor 90, this emerging brand is tantalisingly close to offering a mid-range smartphone champion. Its display is without equal in the weight class, the main camera takes solid photos, and performance is broadly competitive. However, the phone seems to suffer from the odd blip that stands at odds with the classy confidence found elsewhere. The lack of an IP rating, stereo speakers and OIS set it back in its fight with the Pixel 7a and Galaxy A54, while it can’t match the former’s wireless charging provision, either. Meanwhile, I’m not convinced that the new signature finish is a step forward in the design department. That display and the overall flagship air of the phone ensures the Honor 90 a place on the best mid-ranger shortlist, though that’s as a strong alternative pick rather than a confirmed member of the leading pack.

Honor wanted to deliver a strong mid-range phone in the budget category and they managed to do that with the Honor 90 Smart. It has all the necessary features needed to be a decent mid-range smartphone, including a decent display with a high refresh rate, decent performance, decent rear camera performance, battery and even charging. It even has 5G connectivity, which is missed out on a lot of budget phones. Honor has indeed managed to deliver a decent mid-range smartphone but its price tag definitely doesn’t fall in the budget category. It’s not significantly high, but it’s not budget either. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 offers much better specs than this while also offering a lower price tag.

Honor has been produced some great smartphones for some time now, and the Honor 90 continues that legacy. If you’re not bothered by the bigger names, flagship models and high prices, then it’s always worth looking at what the company is up to. The Honor 90 is ideal if you’re looking for something that can handle a variety of different shooting situations reasonably well, but don’t need all the extra advanced features that others bring. It’s fair to say that image quality from other models is better in certain circumstances, such as macro, but if you’re happy with most everyday shots being well taken care of, it’s a great buy.

The Honor 90 Smart put in a good display performance for a device in the Advanced ($200 to $399) category. Unlike most of the other phones we test, which have OLEDs, the Honor 90 Smart is equipped with a liquid-crystal display, which nevertheless managed to reach a peak bright of 728 nits in our tests. While this level is impressive for this price category, it is not enough for comfortable viewing in an outdoor environment. The Honor 90 Smart’s readability, however, was affected by a general lack of brightness and lack of detail. The display’s color would change whether indoors or outdoors. When in the shade or under sunlight, the screen’s colors showed green casts and when indoors, the cast was pink, and colors became too saturated. In addition, while the screen did not show color shifts when viewed at an angle, the display lost much brightness and contrast mainly because of the screen technology.

In conclusion, the Honor 90 5G offers a balanced mix of design and features. It has a modern design, smooth display, modest performance, and a good battery life. Stereo speakers and IP rating would have added more value to the phone at this price. The camera quality is satisfactory, though not up to the mark. That said, the Honor 90 5G presents a good option in the premium midrange segment for those seeking a good display and slender form factor.

The Honor 90 is a compelling mid-ranger for the money - particularly with its more recent price drop taking it to under £400. It delivers a surprisingly powerful performance with a stunning screen that wouldn't look out of place on many flagships, not to mention a decent camera set up that can do good work with good light and a steady hand. Battery life is also superb, and I loved the peace of mind that the 66W wired charging offered me too. However, there are some niggles. The lack of an official IP rating feels like a miss at this stage, as does the lack of OIS on the camera. The single speaker setup also makes listening to music or watching video without headphones a pretty poor experience. Mostly, though, I'd like to see a longer commitment to software updates from Honor, to keep consumer confidence high. The Honor 90 offers a lot to like, and at a great price, but it lacks just a touch of polish in the details.

Like its predecessor, the Honor 90 offers premium specs in a stylish design package that doesn’t come at the expense of, well, expense. There are some compromises – particularly under the hood – but this is a mightily impressive mid-range handset, regardless, deserving of a broader market.

The Honor 90 5G smartphone runs on Magic OS 7.1 based on Android 13. Some preloaded apps were present in the phone, which could be uninstalled. Talking about other features, it comes with RAM Turbo through which the phone's RAM can be expanded virtually up to 5GB. This phone also features NFC, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and UFS 3.1 storage. The company is promising two years of software and three years of security updates. If you are scouring the market for a smartphone that’s high on style quotient, the Honor 90 is one of the best-designed phones under ₹40,000. The phone is priced at ₹37,999 for the base variant which is quite overpriced for the performance on offer. However, some introductory bank offers can bring the price down to ₹29,999. At ₹29,999, this is a pretty great offering if performance is not the most important to you. The phone knocks it out of the park with its slim profile, classy rear panel design, and excellent in-hand feel. It’s not just all looks; the Honor 90 also has a world-class display with 10-bit colour and great HDR performance, it has a pretty impressive 200 MP primary camera, and 66 W fast charging. Of course, it is not the best-performing phone and probably not the best option for gamers since we’ve got speed monsters like the iQOO Neo 7 Pro and POCO F5 in this price range.

The Honor 90 has put itself in a tricky spot with its Rs 37,999 price tag. Apart from the stunning display, its specs do not really scream flagship killer. For a little more money, you can get flagship killers like the Oppo Reno 10 Pro+ and the OnePlus 11R, both with flagship-grade chips. Again, it is not a bad phone at all, but its positioning in the market is rather Samsung-esque, as it relies more on brand value than value for money. If you are planning to get this device, you will surely be dazzled by its quad-curved display and smooth and well-optimised software. But beyond that, the phone is a hard sell.

The Honor 90 5G is priced at Rs 37,999 and will be effectively available for Rs 27,999 through bank discount and other offers. For its price, the Honor 90 is a solid mid-range smartphone and a good choice for the brand to begin its second stint in India. The phone’s excellent display and premium looks are almost flagship-grade, suggesting the brand has what it takes to take on current rivals in the Indian market. That said, Honor’s software support commitment isn’t the best right now. The biggest issue with the Honor 90 5G, however, is the camera. Its iffy performance in low light leaves you wanting more, and more is what you get with rivals like the OnePlus Nord 3 and Pixel 7a. But then, the smartphone does offer good battery life with a decent 66W charging speed to boot. Software has been a big concern with Honor phones for years now, but you can be rest assured the Honor 90 5G comes with a largely nice Android 13 experience.

The Honor 90 is a capable smartphone that offers a blend of compelling features. On the positive side, it has a stylish design with an elegant oval-shaped camera setup, and its lightweight build makes it comfortable to hold. The 6.7-inch Quad-curved Floating Display impresses with sharp, vibrant visuals and exceptional brightness, ensuring a delightful viewing experience even under direct sunlight. Its 200-megapixel primary camera captures detailed and vivid photos, and the selfie camera doesn't disappoint either. Gamers will appreciate its performance, with no noticeable lag or overheating. However, it's worth noting that the Honor 90 falls slightly behind in terms of performance when compared to some similarly priced competitors, particularly while juggling apps. Additionally, the night mode for the camera is slow.

The Honor 90 is unquestionably an eye-catching device. Honor clearly paid a lot of attention to design, and the results speak for themselves. Few phones look as flashy as the Honor 90 in some color options. There is plenty to like about the phone besides design as well. Its display is definitely a highlight. It's very bright and offers great color accuracy and HDR10+ support. It is also fast, with a 120Hz refresh rate. Automatic refresh rate management on the Honor 90 can still use some work but generally does the job well enough. The Honor 90 has a pretty versatile camera setup. We particularly like the inclusion of autofocus on the ultrawide and the fact that the main cam, ultrawide and selfie can all capture 4K video. On the flip side, the battery life on the Honor 90 is nothing to phone home about, and neither is the single bottom-firing speaker. We would have also appreciated some ingress protection, ideally a microSD card slot and a 3.5mm audio jack. The virtual proximity sensor is also pretty disappointing.

In the end though, the Honor 90 isn’t a particularly bad smartphone, but it’s also lacking in a couple of key areas that end up stopping it from becoming a great one. Giving it stereo speakers for example would’ve been one of the easiest ways to give it a leg up against its competition; hopefully the Honor 110 or whatever it’ll be called won’t end up with a mono speaker again. As for the Honor 90 though, considering how much it’s going for, it will certainly be going up against some tough competition. The Honor 90 starts at RM1,799 for the base model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, while for RM2,099 you’ll get the higher end model with double the storage. That isn’t too high of an asking price, but it’s biggest competitor in this price segment will likely be the Samsung Galaxy A54.

The Honor 90 actually costs 599 Euros according to the MSRP. However, it has never been sold at this price since then. There was always some promotion that made the upper mid-range smartphone 100 Euros cheaper (approx. 550 dollars). From this point of view, the Honor 90 gets something between 3.5 and 4 stars. The feel, the display, and a 200 MP main camera that takes excellent pictures even without OIS leave the impression of a premium smartphone. The probably unavoidable bloatware, the mediocre update polivy, and the 5,000 mAh battery that only impresses on the spec sheet are unappealing. The 66 W power adapter, which is not easy to get and is not included with the Honor 90 (as well as no other charger), also takes some score points. Wireless charging? Not on the Honor 90.

At R14 999 (RRP) the Honor 90 5G is well priced and in a crowded premium mid-range space offers enough value for money in order to stand out. Serving up a solid level of performance, long lasting battery, and camera that’ll make content creators happy, the device offers a great all-around experience. Our issue, however, is that it still feels a lot like the kind of phone that’s from a Huawei sub-brand, which Honor is non longer suppose to be. Perhaps it will take a few more iterations before Honor phones will feel more distinct from its Huawei brethren, but for right now, it has not carved out a unique enough space for itself among a myriad of Chinese phone brands all vying for consumer attention. If you pick up the Honor 90 5G, which we can certainly recommended, you’ll have great device on your hands, it will only lack a bit of identity.

Honor certainly cements its spot in the upper midrange with the Honor 90, a worthy successor of the Honor 70 that hits all the right notes. If you’ve used Honor phones before, or read up on them extensively, there is nothing much that would surprise you about it, though. It offers the usual strengths and weaknesses you know from the brand, with an excellent display and great battery life hampered by questionable software decisions and a poor camera. If you value a unique design, great battery life, and a good screen over anything else, then the Honor 90 is the pick for you. However, if you like getting timely software updates for a long time and an always-reliable camera, there are other options for you to pick.

The Honor 90 truly shines as a superb mid-range smartphone, having all the core elements that define a good phone. Its performance is impressive, although there’s room for even greater potential. Both the front and back cameras are solid, and the stylish design further adds to its appeal. However, a few minor aspects do feel slightly lacking. Having optical image stabilization (OIS) for the camera would’ve been an improvement. While the speaker quality is commendable, a stereo setup would have made the listening experience more immersive. Good haptic feedback would contribute to a better user experience and a more premium feel. Moreover, the absence of ingress protection is somewhat disappointing in this price range.

Okay, time to wrap things up now. And for the most part, the Honor 90 checks a lot of boxes for a balanced midrange phone. Not just in terms of the usual stuff, but I also like how Honor has paid attention to quality of life things like network reception and call quality. So for something under Rs. 60,000 in Nepal, I think the Honor 90 is fairly competitively priced. And besides the phone itself, I’m also super pumped to see such a competent brand make its comeback in one of the largest smartphone markets in the world. Only time will tell what this means for the competition and the future of the smartphone industry, but I can’t wait to see things play out.

The HONOR 90 has a design that is both aesthetically pleasing and practical, with a bright high-quality display that is practically flagship-level. Moreover, the chipset it uses is highly efficient, resulting in great battery life, and more than powerful enough for day-to-day use without any stuttering. While the main camera is nothing more than average, the gimmicky but usable macro feature is a welcome bonus at this price point. It may not be the photography heavyweight that you might hope it would be, but if you’re purchasing a phone at the RM2K mark or lower, there’s only so much you could realistically expect from it regardless of how astounding the specs look like on paper. On that note, the brand may have a solid mid-ranger here.

For everything the Honor 90 has to offer, it’s a great smartphone in its segment. You have a very powerful camera paired with a capable chipset and a beautiful display. At the same time, the battery can last a long time. It’s not perfect by any means. For starters, you have a bunch of bloatware pre-installed with the OS. Then, there’s the lack of a stereo loudspeaker as well as no wireless charging, which are features you would expect on a phone of this price. But if you’re looking for a smartphone that can capture great images the Honor 90 can do that extremely well. At the same time, you can play some of your favorite games too. This phone is very capable but at the same time, it does face some serious competition.

The HONOR 90 5G delivers monster specs for a phone with a sub-P30K price. This phone is a beauty with its slim Quad-Curve form factor, Mirror Luna camera design, and floating display. But it’s a beast in terms of performance and industry-leading features, such as its Zero Flicker display, 200MP camera, and massive battery.

The Honor 90 struggled in some of our battery tests, resulting in an overall score that was just below our database average. Compared with its predecessor the Honor 70, the Honor 90 with its larger battery obtained a lower global score mainly because it was less efficient in both charge and discharge. The autonomy performances were average, with the 5000mAh battery lasting 56 hours and 37 minutes when used moderately. When testing individual usages indoors and outdoors, the autonomy was below average. However, the autonomy when watching videos was good. Moreover, we noticed that the battery gauge was not accurate, displaying 20% and 100% when the true battery capacity was 15.7% and 92.7%, respectively. The battery level also collapsed after 5%, and the device automatically shut down 1 minute after displaying 2%. The Honor 90’s charging experience was its main advantage.

The HONOR 90 is a value-focused smartphone with great looks to boot. It may not have the best hardware but it’s certainly enough for daily use, and 5G connectivity makes it viable for long-term use. I just hope they optimize the screen refresh rate so we can see some improvements in battery life, as I’m sure it can do better than the results we got.

I would not hesitate to recommend the Honor 90 to anyone looking for a new mid-range handset. The all-important eye-comfort factor is a real selling point here, despite being what you might call an invisible benefit. Aside from that, the screen is wonderful, and the device's overall performance is excellent at this price point. As usual, Honor has gone the extra mile to ensure that its users are left with a fantastic experience, even with mid-range market placement.

After spending several weeks with the phone, I’m pleased to say that I’m genuinely impressed with what Honor has been able to achieve here. Not only is the base model slightly cheaper than the starting price of its predecessor, but it now offers one of the best viewing experiences you can find at this end of the market. Whether it’s used for scrolling through social media, reading an e-book or catching up on the latest TV shows, the screen can handle it all brilliantly, so if that’s what you’re most interested in, you’ll get on very well with the Honor 90. The phone’s main issue is that it’s available at the same price as the Galaxy A54 and the Pixel 7a, both of which have far superior operating systems and in the case of the latter, far better overall performance courtesy of the Tensor G2 chip. They’re all great phones in their own right; it just depends on which features you value the most.

The Honor 90 is a midrange workhorse phone with an exemplary, colour calibrated quad curved AMOLED display, solid performance for its class along with a large battery. It lacks some niceties like Gorilla Glass and IP resistance but if you are looking for a midrange phone with a top-shelf display and near flagship grade performance, this won’t let you down.

In our DXOMARK Camera tests, the Honor 90 delivered an overall strong performance, with some of the best results for photo exposure and autofocus that we have seen on a device in the High-end segment. Target exposure was accurate in most conditions, even in backlit scenes and other difficult lighting situations, and the autofocus was more consistent than on most other devices in this class. Our experts particularly liked the Honor’s macro mode, which allowed the photographer to get close to the subject and was capable of capturing very good detail. Most devices in the High-end segment come with less effective macro modes. On the downside, the trade-off between detail retention and noise reduction could have been better. Our testers found the Honor 90 to suffer from a local loss of texture, especially in low light.

Like its predecessor, the Honor 90 offers premium specs in a stylish design package that doesn’t come at the expense of, well, expense. There are some compromises – particularly under the hood – but this is a mightily impressive mid-range handset, regardless, deserving of a broader market.

Honestly, the only glaring omissions we see in the Honor 90 are the lack of stereo speakers and an ingress protection rating. Of course, there are some other smaller things as well. At the time of writing, the Honor 90 retails for right around €600, putting it in a competitive mid-ranger space. There are plenty of other alternatives to consider in the price range, but we believe the Honor 90 holds its own well.

The Honor 90 may be in the same price range as the Pixel 7a and the Samsung Galaxy A54, but it's a different beast altogether with its focus on features first and foremost. If you're someone who suffers easily from eye fatigue, the high PWM dimming rate may be worth it for you alone. Even if not, the phone offers a great display experience if you're okay with curved edges. It makes up for potential software shortfalls with a quickly charging battery in a slim profile, which should hopefully help it last longer than many of its competitors when you're out and about. The Honor 90 makes clear that there is no perfect phone for everyone — it always depends on what you value more. In that sense, Honor is carving out a niche for itself, focusing on design, performance, and quick charging more than anything. Stay tuned for our full review.

The Honor 90 is a well though off, well rounded midrange phone. It's slick, lightweight, and stylish. It also has a great display: very bright, with vivid colors, 120Hz display refresh rate, and neat features such as 3840Hz PWM dimming, and dynamic circadian rhythm color adjustments. There are plenty of things to like about this phone, it's pretty snappy with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, there are plenty of memory configurations to choose from, and battery life is pretty good as well. On the other hand, there's no wireless charging, the price is a bit high for what this phone has to offer, and availability might be problematic. Two years of major software updates might not be everyone's cup of tea, and the camera system is kind of a mixed bag.

The Honor 90 is a capable mid-range option, especially for those tempted by the excellent display – among the best at the price – or the prospect of getting 512GB of storage at an affordable price. Elsewhere the phone impresses a little less. Decent cameras and solid performance are welcome but don’t exactly excite, and the plasticky design is a letdown. Combined with the awkward software and limited long-term support, this unfortunately feels like an also-ran. At a discounted price it would be worth snapping up, but otherwise, the latest offerings from Google and Samsung offer you more and will last for longer.

Even among other attractively-priced midrange phones, the Honor 90 offers quite the bargain. You get a lot of phone for your money thanks to the large display, long-lasting battery and high-res main camera, even if overall photo quality comes up a bit short. The Honor 90 delivers enough to make U.S. phone buyers jealous, even if the Galaxy A54 or Pixel 7a remain quality options. The Honor 90’s a world away from the iPhone SE, which may come with a powerful chip but also offers limited photography in a tiny, outdated chassis. If you are in a country where the Honor 90 is sold, we still think you should check out the Pixel 7a and Galaxy A54 alongside the Honor, since they're better-rounded phones for the price. But the Honor 90 is absolutely worth shortlisting, especially if you want the maximum amount of display space, storage capacity and battery life for your money.

There’s still a lot more to test until I’m ready to deliver my final verdict on the Honor 90, but during these early stages I’ve seen plenty that’s caught my attention. I can easily see myself becoming so accustomed to the quality of the screen that there’s bound to be an adjustment period for any phone thereafter, and the battery life has been great so far. The main hiccup I see at the moment is in the performance and the potential setbacks of MagicOS, but only time will tell if those issues are enough to offset the phone’s more appealing features.

Reviewing the Honor 90 Global Edition smartphone, hitting the UK from £449 with some Pixel 7a baiting specs. As well as a 200MP camera, the Honor 90 offers 66W fast battery charging, a gorgeous 120Hz AMOLED screen and some sleek Pro-like design. So should you go for this rather than that Google Pixel and is it a big upgrade vs the Honor 70? Here's my final verdict after a week of using as my full time phone. Check out my video on the best mid range phones of 2023 for more ideas! The Honor 90 certainly sets a good first impression with its skinny, curvy design that looks proper premium. This green model is a stunner, and reasonably hardy despite the lack of IP rating. The camera is headlined by a 200MP Samsung HP3 sensor, although don't expect the Honor 90 to rival the Pixel 7a for incredible photography skills.

The Honor 90 packs a new 200MP camera and a new Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chip, but honestly, it's the ultra slim profile and light weight, along with awesome textured glass back that I love most. Far from cheap and cheerful, the Honor 90 is a great value proposition with a beautiful aesthetic, excellent camera and strong battery life, plus 12GB of RAM is more than most at this price. It's not perfect – the touchscreen is not exactly a joy to use and it's a shame that Honor couldn't include a Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 processor – but in general, there's a lot to love about the Honor 90.

At a glance, the new HONOR 90 looks quite similar to 2022’s HONOR 70, but don’t let that fool you into thinking this is a simple upgrade. The improvements run deep across the entire phone, making this an excellent choice in the mid-range Android market. It’s especially appealing in this matte, glittery, emerald color that morphs from green to blue to grey under different lighting. The star of the show is the beautiful 6.7-inch AMOLED display. It can go up in brightness to 1,600 nits and didn’t have any visibility issues against the searing Lebanese sun during a recent vacation in the country. HONOR touts HDR10+ and Netflix compatibility, a DXOMark Gold Display certification, super high PWM 3,840Hz risk-free dimming, and more specs than I can remember. All of those marketing buzzwords are worth it, though.

The HONOR 90 is actually a truly capable mid-range handset. It is a step down compared to flagships in some ways, of course, but in most of them it’s right on par with them. The battery life is really good, and so is that display. Plus it’s brighter than pretty much anything the competition has to offer. The main camera is good enough, and with some added optimizations, it could be truly good. Even the performance is good, and you don’t have to worry about it, unless you’re planning to play graphically-demanding games. Overall, the HONOR 90 is a really neat package, and a very solid offering at its price tag. There’s a lot to like here.

In isolation, the Honor 90 is a fantastic mid-range blower. It looks the business, has a gorgeous screen and that 200MP main camera is capable of impressive detail in a range of lighting conditions. We have no complaints about performance given the asking price, and battery life is superb. 66W rapid charging is among the fastest you’ll find for this kind of cash, and a 512GB storage option is unheard of at the mid-range. There’s no shortage of similarly-priced rivals around, though – and they each bring something different to the table. The Nothing Phone 1 isn’t quite as speedy, but has wireless charging and distinctive glyph lighting; the Pixel 7a doesn’t last as long, but sets the bar for mid-tier phone cameras; the Galaxy A54 has IP67 water resistance and expandable storage support. If longevity, storage space and charging speeds are higher on your wish list than any of those features, the Honor 90 is a great buy – but it’s far from the only game in town.

The Honor 90 brings a pleasant display, delivering an overall balanced performance in most use cases, with strong showings in color and readability. Brightness levels offer a comfortable experience in most lighting conditions, except in outdoor situations where the screen’s peak brightness remains slightly limited, resulting in contents with low contrast. The video-watching experience on the Honor 90 was good, thanks to the display’s adapted brightness and well-rendered details, particularly on mid- and dark-tones for HDR10 content. However, the screen had a tendency to drop frames when watching videos as well as playing video games. In addition, the Honor 90 has a very high flicker frequency, resulting in a pleasant, nearly flicker-free experience.
