With the HP ProBook 4510s you get a machine that offers excellent battery life and represents decent value for money. However its glossy lid and grease attracting palm rest are less than ideal in a business machine, while a fingerprint reader is an omission. There's lots of potential here, but HP needs to tighten its focus to make the ProBook a real contender.

ProBook is completely new series of HP notebooks intended for mainstream business users. New series brought with it new design and proportions so new HP ProBook 4510s found itself in new, fast growing, category of 15.6 inch notebooks. HP ProBook 4510s is, above all, characterized by its huge autonomy for an notebook (not netbook) with 15.6 inch display. Unfortunately this comes with high price but if you are looking for a small business notebook with long autonomy this is one of the best choices.

  HP ProBook 4510s proves to be a good laptop with a range of specifications and features to suit everyone. HP's ProBook range aims to serve business users without breaking the bank. The ProBook 4510s offers a variety of specifications, to cater for all budgets and requirements and proves to be a semi-portable choice. While we weren't fully blown away by the HP ProBook 4510s, we were very impressed by the laptop's great usability. And, with models starting at prices as low as £320, the commendably affordable price makes it great for small businesses and home office use.

What should you look for in a new notebook? In this economy, price ranks first followed closely by reliability and security. Way down at the bottom of that list comes styling, bells and whistles. With that in mind, consider the Hewlett-Packard ProBook 4510s, a well-priced, reliable yet attractive 15.6-inch widescreen laptop. Prices range from $529 to $949 and HP offers both pre-configured models and custom configurations. The price is reasonable and HP includes reliability extras - hard-disk impact protection, disk encryption - that not all laptop makers offer. As for functionality, the 4510s does the job for all but the most media-intensive tasks.

The HP ProBook 4510s is a solid, though not overwhelmingly impressive small and medium business notebook. Compared to similar notebooks like the Dell Vostro 1510 and 1520 or the Lenovo ThinkPad SL500, the ProBook 4510s is more impressive than the Dell and is either better or worse than the ThinkPad depending on configuration. Whether you're a small business owner looking for a low-cost notebook for yourself or a medium business needing desktop replacements for a few dozen employees, the ProBook 4510s will get the job done. Bottom line, the HP ProBook 4510s is a fine notebook for its intended market, but if HP made a few simple changes to the design and purchase options then business buyers would have even more reasons to buy this laptop.

With the enterprise EliteBooks and the small-business Compaqs commanding HP's business laptop line, you'd think two brands would be enough to hold down the fort. HP, however, is out to prove that its new ProBooks will be a worthy third segment to what already seems like a crowded family. The HP ProBook 4510s ($700 direct) is one of three desktop replacements in this new line, which should give IT managers some fashionable yet affordable solutions to choose from. The 15.6-inch (16:9 aspect ratio) widescreen, glossy finish, and new-look keyboard are what you'd find on a consumer laptop or one geared toward style-minded businesses. The HP ProBook 4510s is an excellent small-business laptop thanks to its price, battery life, and security software, but make sure you have a cloth handy to wipe away all those fingerprints.

HP’s ProBook 4510s ended up being a solid, but not particularly remarkable machine. There is a lot that they got right with the new line, and small business owners will definitely appreciate that, but there is room for improvement in a few areas as well. The low starting price of the systems limits some factors and will keep the ProBooks separate from HP’s more desirable EliteBooks but the ProBooks remain quite versatile, something some people will prefer to an aluminum palmrest or advanced docking capabilities. The ProBook 4510s will stack up well against Dell’s Vostro and the ThinkPad SL so buyers will be able to shop around and decide for themselves which is the best fit. Home users should keep an eye on the ProBooks as well, as they have most of the attributes people will be looking for and they might find uses for some of the small business features.

As the flagship model of HP’s new budget-friendly business line, the $699 ProBook 4510s is an attractive, durable machine with good productivity performance and a variety of security features. We also suggest considering the Lenovo ThinkPad SL400; for $639 you’ll get similar specs and performance, albeit a smaller hard drive and screen. But when it comes to affordable 15-inch business notebooks, the HP ProBook is strong choice.

The debut of the HP ProBook 4510s marks the beginning of the end for the “Compaq” brand name HP has been using on its business laptops since acquiring the company in 2001. But who are we kidding? The Compaq moniker often connoted bland notebooks that always seemed slightly costlier than they should have been. The ProBook 4510s, on the other hand, looks sharp and delivers some surprising features given its $529 starting price, including a large LED-backlit display and a hard drive with active protection. Our configuration came in at a still-reasonable $749 (which includes an eight-cell battery, a Core 2 Duo CPU, and Bluetooth connectivity—features you don’t get at the starting price). The all-new HP ProBook 4510s delivers some surprising features and decent performance for small-business buyers on a budget.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500M: L'Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD (parfois aussi appelé GMA X4500 HD ou d'autres combinaisons) est un adaptateur graphique compatible DirectX 10 embarqué dans les chipsets GM45, GE45 et GS45 de la plate-forme Centrino 2 (Montevina). La puce n'a pas de mémoire graphique dédiée, mais prend dynamiquement une quantité sur la mémoire principale (jusqu'à 384 MB).
La version de la 4500MHD cadencée à 400 MHz trouvée dans les chipsets GL40 et GS40, est appelée GMA 4500M (sans le HD) et a une plus mauvaise performance dans les jeux 3D et le décodage vidéo. 

Seuls les vieux jeux peuvent tourner de façon fluide sur ces ordinateurs (S'ils ne sont pas trop gourmands en ressources). Les coeurs à mémoire partagée de cette catégorie ont l'avantage d'être moins chaud et moins gourmand en énergie. Pour le bureau, internet, l'édition de photos, et le montage vidéo ces cartes graphiques n'ont aucune restrictions.

Intel Core 2 Duo:

C'est le successeur du Core Duo avec des pipelines 5-20% plus rapides sans consommation supplémentaire. Comme une addition à la conception du core duo là existe un quatrième décodeur, une SSE-unité amplifiée et une unité logique arithmétique additionnelle (ALU). Le core 2 duo pour ordinateurs portables est identique aux processeurs de core 2 duo d'ordinateur de bureau mais les portables fonctionnent avec des tensions inférieures et une vitesse de Frontside. L'exécution des portables également synchronisés est 20-25% inférieure à des ordinateur de bureau en raison de fréquence d’horloge inférieure de Frontside et plus lents de disques durs.
