Avec ses 32 Go de RAM et 1 To de stockage, il concurrence sans peine les MacBook Air. Asus et Intel ont assemblé un petit bijou dont il est bien difficile de trouver des choses à lui reprocher. Un poil plus de puissance n'aurait pas fait de mal, mais dans un form factor aussi compact, cela reste compliqué. L'écran pourrait être un peu mieux calibré, mais la dalle Oled de 14 pouces et en 16/10 demeure un avantage certain.

Si l'on ne le retiendra pas nécessairement pour ses capacités CPU, la partie GPU tient honnêtement tête au rival AMD, quand l'autonomie est bien capable de tenir tête à Qualcomm et ses Snapdragon Elite. Une véritable révolution, à laquelle il ne manque finalement que le mode veille optimisé de la nouvelle génération de SoC. Autrement, on peut voir dans le Zenbook S 14 le meilleur et le moins bon de ce que l'on a déjà observé sur la version16 pouces. L'alliage signature d'Asus est toujours aussi beau et agréable au quotidien, quand l'ordinateur est bien conçu et offre une belle connectique.

Nous lui reprochons toutefois, comme à beaucoup d’autres modèles OLED lancés cette année, la brillance extrême de son écran, qui nuit souvent à la lisibilité, et au bout du compte à l’expérience globale. Un souci qu'ASUS et Samsung rechignent visiblement à corriger… ou du moins à atténuer. L’appareil est quoi qu’il en soit l’un des premiers à embarquer les nouvelles puces Intel Lunar Lake. Avec elles, on perd en performances multi-core ce que l’on gagne en puissance graphique et en efficacité énergétique. À défaut d'être parfaitement en phase avec nos espérances, le bilan est donc tout à la fois surprenant et encourageant.

I haven't been this impressed with a Windows ultrabook in a long time. A thin and light, compact laptop that checks most boxes is a rarity, but that might be a thing of the past with the new Asus Zenbook S 14 OLED. The new design is catchy, you get enough performance for work as well as light gaming, and the battery life is actually ultra for an ultrabook. Pricing isn't too bad either, seeing how other similarly specced ultrabooks from Dell, HP, Samsung, or Microsoft cost about the same.

It sure makes a great do-it-all PC for everyone but those who need peak number-crunching performance. While the Zenbook S14 OLED isn’t bad in this area, it is beaten by the latest MacBook and Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite models. What you get in return, however, is better gaming performance and (in my experience) none of the compatibility issues inherent to the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite laptops’ unusual tech back-end. For some that'll make this Intel choice the 5-star option.

For sure this is a lovely machine. Not only is CPU solid and battery life is superb, it’s also a viable occasional gaming machine – more so than a MacBook would be, simply for the greater selection of Windows-compatible titles on the market. Combine that with a slim, lightweight and attractive chassis, a sumptuous OLED display and a price that undercuts its premium opposition and you have a laptop that it’s impossible not to be positive about. While the gaming experience wasn’t the most groundbreaking of any integrated GPU, it easily outperformed the previous generation, so we can’t say Intel didn’t meet expectations with this new hardware. Really, as long as you don’t need a high-quality webcam and you aren’t a big keyboard snob, the Zenbook S 14 is a perfect laptop. I would prefer just about any other keyboard over the backlit chiclet keyboard on the new Zenbooks, but that’s my only major complaint. This is an impressive launch laptop for Intel Lunar Lake and a win for Asus.

For me, this particular detail matters a whole lot, as I often use this sort of computer on my lap or have it propped against my legs while lying back on the couch. Considering how other popular laptops such as the Dell XPS or the Apple Macbooks implement similar screen angles, I’d reckon many of you won’t care as much about this detail.

Intel Arc 140V: Un adaptateur graphique intégré assez rapide que certains processeurs Intel Lunar Lake utiliseraient. La 140V possède 8 cœurs d'architecture Xe² fonctionnant jusqu'à 2 050 MHz et 8 unités de ray tracing ; elle est compatible avec DirectX 12 Ultimate et prend également en charge tous les codecs vidéo modernes. Si l'on en croit les récentes fuites de résultats de tests, ses performances de jeu devraient être légèrement supérieures à celles de la MX570 de GeForce.
Ces cartes graphiques de milieu de gamme peuvent faire tourner tout les jeux récents de façon fluide. Les jeux gourmands ne peuvent être joués qu'avec les détails réglés sur moyen.

Core Ultra 7 258V: Un processeur de milieu de gamme de la famille Lunar Lake. Il s'agit d'un SoC destiné aux ordinateurs portables et aux tablettes les plus minces, qui comprend 4 nouveaux E-cores et 4 nouveaux P-cores cadencés à 4,8 GHz, ainsi que le nouveau iGPU Arc 140V prometteur et 32 Go de RAM LPDDR5x-8533 intégrée. Un nouveau moteur neuronal 47 TOPS, la prise en charge des disques SSD TB 4 et PCIe 5 sont également inclus.
