I’d say this is a phone you can buy and use for years upon years as long as you’re comfortable with the software situation. I never felt a slowdown nor did I see any stuttering when using the device and I used it for well over a month. It’s flawless in that regard. Even with apps getting bigger and demanding more processor resources, I still think that the ROG Phone II will keep up with newer devices many years down the road.

I've used a lot of phones over the past few years, and I was pleasantly surprised by the ROG Phone II. It works quickly, it feels smooth, and its battery is a powerhouse. Further, even though it gets warm occasionally while gaming, I didn't mind because of the attachable fan. However, it does make the phone a tad bulkier so I can see why owners wouldn’t want to carry it around.

As we noted at the very beginning of this review, the Asus ROG Phone II is targeting gamers, not photographers or videographers; even so, its imaging capabilities are not particularly bad, but just a bit disappointing when compared to its older (and less expensive) Zenfone 6 sibling. The Asus ROG Phone II’s biggest drawback is its inconsistency: there can be marked differences between photos shot in a series, and unpleasant frame shifts in video footage.

The ROG Phone II has a lot going for it. Its display is fantastic and fast, and the battery life is a champion in the class of any Android phones and quite possibly even the current iPhones as well. You might not get great results with its cameras, but you are guaranteed performance and dedicated gaming buttons in the form of the Air Triggers so if you are all about mobile gaming, the ROG Phone II is a no brainer – it’s the only choice.

The Asus ROG Phone II in large measure delivers on being an excellent audio performer for gamers, with plenty of volume and well-placed dual front-facing speakers that help give it a wide and accurate sound stage. So as you’d expect, gaming audio is its strong suit. The lack of bass may prove a bit frustrating for those who want booming bass to go along with its high overall volume. The downside to the high volume capability is some artifacts, including distortion at maximum volume.

If you’re an RGB-loving gamer who lives an overclocked life at 120Hz, then there’s a good chance the Razer Phone 2 will push your buttons. Given that our reviews aren’t just for gamers, though, luxuries like a 120Hz display and illuminating back aren’t enough to bump up its score beyond a 3.5. The 16:9 aspect ratio screen feels dated, it’s a bit washed out when viewed at an angle, and the camera is only passable by today’s standards. And, unlike its predecessor, it doesn’t undercut the competition in terms of price, making it a tough sell at full price for all but the most diehard mobile gamers and Razer fans.

The ROG Phone II is the best gaming smartphone to own this year, if you are highly invested in the world of mobile gaming. The phone gives a lot of undue advantage to gamers, but to really make the best of this offering from Asus, you need to buy the accessories which will shoot up the costs. Long story short, the ROG Phone II is a mobile gaming console first, a flagship smartphone after.

It's also a comparatively big and heavy handset, versus the recent crop of flagship phones. However, the ROG Phone II is unapologetically a gaming-first handset, and next to something like the Nintendo Switch, it's more nimble (as it applies to mobility). If that is what you are after, we have no reservation in recommending the ROG Phone II. On the flip side, if gaming is an afterthought, phones like the OnePlus 7T are a better bet.

What the ROG Phone 2 is, is a gaming phone in it’s second generation that will likely get better when Asus goes back to the lab for the ROG Phone 3. Remember gaming laptops when they first started out? Ugly, right? But now? So much better. I look at the ROG Phone 2 this way. Sometimes we have to appreciate unconventional technology as much as we love what we’re used to every year. At least with the unconventional stuff, there’s risk and innovation coming to play. I find the ROG Phone 2 to be a beast of a phone and perfect for what it does and who it caters to. You disagree, that’s cool. Fight me. I’m kidding.

Looking back at the first ROG Phone, the ROG Phone 2 is definitely an improvement as it has fixed some of the things I didn't like back then. Asus has made a seriously impressive smartphone for gamers. We found it to be extremely capable of lag-free gaming performance for extended periods, though it does starts heating up a little after 3 hours of playing graphic-intensive games at highest-possible settings. The battery lasts easily for a day even after about 4 hours of gaming daily. The cameras gave mostly clear shots during daytime but not so good in the night. The audio performance is beyond impressive for a phone of this price. If mobile gaming is your passion and you are not the sort to compromise even slightly on the gaming specs and performance in your cherished phone, and also, are willing to go easy on the camera department which is a little letdown, especially in night-time photography, the ROG Phone II is the ideal choice for you.

The Asus ROG Phone 2 is a solid piece of hardware and is definitely the most polished and impressive gaming phone we've seen so far. Asus has left no stone unturned when it comes to designing this smartphone. The smartphone is loaded with top-notch hardware and the performance is crisp. Asus clearly isn’t playing around (pun intended) with the ROG Phone II in India. The smartphone has been launched for a lucrative price of just Rs. 37,999 which considering everything that it offers is quite a bargain. The ROG Phone II is spec’d up as much as any phone could be and irrespective of whether you play games on your phone or not, the ROG Phone II feels like a phone you can’t resist buying. The performance is amazing, the 120Hz display is smooth as ever, battery life is nuts and you get a ton of gaming-related features and accessories if you’re into that sort of a thing. The OnePlus 7T launches on the same evening as the day this review goes live and is expected to come with similar specifications like the Snapdragon 855+, a smooth 90Hz display and triple cameras instead of two on this. Of course, that’s more of a conventional smartphone rather than a pocket PC that went overboard. You can wait for how that turns out before you make the final decision.

An absolute beast of a gaming phone, the Asus ROG Phone 2 has both the processing capabilities and battery power to ensure that you’ll get to play for hours before needing to charge your phone. It is truly worthy of being called a gaming phone.

For the ultimate gaming experience, ROG Phone II can be expanded with a unique range of accessories. The existing ROG WiGig® Display Dock Plus and Mobile Desktop Dock are both supported, and there’s a new modular ROG Kunai Gamepad that provides physical console-like gamepad controls. The ROG Kunai Gamepad consists of three components — the ROG Kunai Bumper, ROG Kunai Controllers and ROG Kunai Holder. The two-part Kunai Controllers can be attached to the Kunai Holder to create a standalone gamepad, or combined with the Kunai Bumper to add physical gamepad controls to ROG Phone II itself. ROG Phone II also supports Qualcomm® aptX™, aptX HD and aptX Adaptive for low-latency high-quality audio over Bluetooth connections.

The Asus ROG Phone 2 is here and it’s a beast of an Android phone. This is the first gaming smartphone with an overclockable Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus CPU for a serious power boost. It also sports a 120Hz OLED display and a massive 6,000 mAh battery. However, all that power won’t come cheap, as the ROG Phone II is priced at $899 to start.

Asus' ROG division was always going to be part of the gaming phone bandwagon, it's a brand name synonymous with high octane, ultra speedy gaming performance. For the second gen ROG phone, it was about giving you even more power and more efficient cooling, allowing console-like performance from a device that fits in your pocket.

The ROG Phone 2 is a classic second phone: an iterative improvement that doesn’t rock the boat too much. The core ethos is exactly the same, but improvements across the board do their bit to justify the new model - especially the giant battery and 120Hz display - and might even be enough to tempt an upgrade for original ROG Phone owners.

Combining the Zenfone 6’s strong camera with over-the-top specs and a wealth of gaming add-ons means the ROG Phone 2 is one of the few gaming phones that doesn’t ask you to compromise on other elements. As always, performance is key with a product like this, so we’ll have to put the phone through its paces in a full review to say for sure - but right now the ROG Phone 2 looks like the best gaming phone out there.

The Asus ROG Phone was one of the first examples of a gaming phone done well – it had stacks of power, a decent camera, front speakers, left and right touch triggers that actually worked and software that levelled up gaming on it tenfold. It also supported some very cool accessories that turned the phone into what looked like a turbo-charged Nintendo DS.

I think users’ attitude towards Asus ROG 2 should be two extremes. People who don’t like it can find many reasons, such as big, heavy, overperformance and low-cost performance. But for those who like it, all these shortcomings can be converted into advantages: the screen is big enough, the battery life is strong, the performance is hot, the armor looks cool, and the price of 3499 yuan is quite close to the people in the ROG series. Especially in the eyes of ROG believers, it is just a loser’s eye LOGO, probably more than this price.

Last year’s ASUS ROG Phone felt like one of the first gaming phones that actually made sense. But for its second attempt, Asus has doubled down on everything: Between its big 6.6-inch screen, a new processor from Qualcomm, and an absolutely massive battery, Asus may have just created the most powerful Android phone on the market. Let’s start with its display. Instead of sticking with a 90Hz refresh rate, Asus selected an OLED screen with an even faster 120Hz refresh rate, which is the first of its kind among phones and apes the trend towards more responsive displays we’ve seen on gaming PCs.

The Asus ROG Phone II has us mildly excited and for a number of different reasons. On the one hand, it's a powerful Android gaming machine with a comprehensive accessory package. And on the other, it's a proper high-end smartphone with a full set of all-out specs that you can't find anywhere else. Plus, we just found out that gaming phones make a big difference and this one might just be the best gaming phone yet.

The first ROG Phone was a product that mobile gamers didn’t think they needed until it launched last Computex 2018. It’s the first gaming phone that has accessories which greatly improves the gaming experience of the user. ASUS ROG saw that mobile hardware can now play games at high refresh rates and the need for accessories in a “gaming phone.” The ROG Phone 2 was created out of demand and not because Asus can just do it. According to their studies, there will be a 14% growth rate of the eSports audience with 57% of the growth coming from the Asia Pacific. This projected growth has led Asus to develop the next gaming standard of the mobile market. Does the ROG Phone 2 live up as another game-changer in the smartphone landscape? Let’s take a closer look.

ASUS is working with even more gaming publishers to give better support for their next-generation ROG Phone. Asphalt 9 for example, has increased FPS over other phones and has support for their new vibration SDK and the TwinView Dock II. Shadowgun Legends has support for the 120Hz screen, has vibration SDK as well as performance enhancements as well.

The low latency, high refresh-rate AMOLED display sets it apart from smartphones sporting the same type of display namely the OnePlus 7 Pro, Razer Phone II, Blackshark II and even the iPhone XS Max. What makes the ROG Phone II unique over the rest of the smartphone market is its no-compromise approach when it comes to gaming. Regardless if you buy the ROG Phone II with accessories or not, the gameplay experience is still very immersive in its own right.

Qualcomm Adreno 640:
