Typing on EEE PC is so easy when you become accustomed to small keyboard. You can enjoy in comfortable typing even if you are sitting right to someone in subway (metro) or any other form of (public) transportation. Because of its small dimensions you won’t even feel it wearing it in your backpack. You will only remember it when you need to pull it out from sack and when you want to return it there. Literary, we didn’t think at any moment about its size or dimensions not even about having better backpack with padded shoulder straps so your backs won’t get hurt. We have totally freedom to move and even run. If you recognized yourself in previous sentences than EEE is perfect for you. Only big objection that we have is that this little guy cannot be your primary computer. Like secondary one it is the best choice for users that travel a lot and also have need for advantages of real PC for price of one average PDA device.

As you would expect, the keys are small and compact and you'll initially find yourself picking at the keys. However, we very quickly got used to the layout, making this a great word processor for travellers. Extras include three USB 2.0 ports, a webcam and 802.11g Wi-Fi, so you can easily connnects to wireless networks. The Asus Eee PC 2GS more than lives up to expectations and is a reasonably powerful, highly portable machine. The 192-minute battery life may only be suited to the average commute but, as a budget machine, it's clearly a winner.

Our opinion on the ASUS Eee PC has actually gone UP with this release - we are Windows junkies and as much as we are pushed or persuaded, moving to Linux, especially in the form that ASUS installed on the initial Eee PC just isn't what I want. In fact, one even has to wonder why the Linux version of the Eee PC will continue with the new 9" screen update of the Eee PC just around the corner; carrying two SKUs for the same product where the only difference is the OS seems unlikely, though ASUS could always allow users to download and install the Xandros OS if they want. In the end, ASUS has increased the usability of the Eee PC 4G for MOST buyers while keeping the price the same - an easy win.

While the 7” LCD gets the job done, ASUS should really look into increasing the size of the screen and resolution in future models as there is plenty of space around the screen where speakers are placed and at times I felt viewing extra information on screen without scrolling. I can understand that this will raise the costs slightly as well as lower the battery life by a bit but its probably a sacrifice most will be willing to make. Speaking of battery life, we managed to get almost three hours out of this little PC which is pretty awesome. Since cold booting is very fast, you can save battery life by shutting down the machine instead of putting it to sleep. I have slightly large hands (ok- that’s an understatement) and thus the tiny keyboard of the Eee PC certainly limited my typing speed. However, my wife has no issues with the keyboard- I guess, this is one of those “try before you buy” things. The tactile feel on the keys is fine, however, the mouse button was a bit tight an hard to press.

Evidently, the Eee is not your desktop replacement notebook. It was made to be a secondary, not main computer. You can easily carry it around, since it is very light, and if you have wireless access in your hometown, the usability and practicality of this tiny little guy increase by leaps and bounds. You don't have to be too imaginative to see the delight of web surfing, e-mailing or note taking wherever you are, watching a film during a pause at work etc. It all depends on your needs. Although it is not without flaws (small screen and bad touchpad), ASUS's Eee PC 701 presents a most interesting product, available to anyone at this price point.

Even without the webcam and occasional lag, the Asus Eee PC 4G Surf is one of our favorite notebooks.

Even though the price climbed from the original quotation oh so many months ago, the unit still leaves a sweet taste in my mouth. Being new to Linux, I had no idea what to expect, but I have come off pretty impressed. It's impressively easy - definitely shakes the fear of using computers for newer users or even children. And with that stated, the unit has solid performance for its hardware. I do wish it had a larger display, better ways of implementing more permanent storage solutions, and had about an hour or more of battery life, but otherwise I can't complain too much. For being a sub notebook, fulfilling everything a sub notebook this size should – and coming in HUNDREDS less than the competition, the cons listed above are perfectly acceptable. RECOMMENDED – missing a few features/performance issues, but a great little machine.

Selling a £180 ultraportable laptop might be harder than it sounds. Misled by the low price, consumers could well believe quality for that kind of money is an unobtainable nirvana. The Eee PC defies all expectations, particularly for a device that's nominally aimed at children. We all know that the smaller the laptop, the more expensive it is. But the Eee costs less than any full-blown laptop we've ever seen, while weighing a mere 928g. For tapping out emails and working on documents and spreadsheets, the Eee PC is all but perfect. It measures just 225mm wide and 170mm deep, and weighs only 1.12kg including its power adapter.
The operating system is a custom Asus effort, built on the back of a Xandros installation of Linux.

Tiny Asus Eee Runs Linux & Windows ($399)

The Asus Eee is half the size of a 12.1"; widescreen notebook like the Toshiba Portégé R400.
This is one of the first budget ultra-portable PCs to go on sale, but expect to see more devices like this even without the extremes of the crank-powered OLPC. Via has a reference design for a $600 ultra-portable that will be the same size and weight as the Eee PC, but it will have a 1.2 GHz VIA C7 CPU, a VX-700 chipset, up to 1 GB of RAM, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, a DVI port and a 4-in-1 card reader.
The question is how useful these systems will be. They’re far better equipped for Web browsing and email than a smartphone but a better comparison is an intermediate device like the HTC Advantage, which comes with Opera and the Office Mobile apps in Windows Mobile 6 that rival OpenOffice, includes GPS and has a better battery life.

The 4G is available at online outlets including J&R, Newegg.com, and BestBuy.com. Soon, it'll have company as Asus rolls out Eees at other price points.
The 4G Surf ($350) resembles our 4GB flash/512MB memory model but drops the webcam and comes with a smaller battery. The 2G Surf cuts further, with only a 2GB solid-state drive and 256MB of RAM for $300. A flagship Eee 8G with an 8GB drive, 1GB of system memory, and the webcam and larger battery will cost $500. It's not yet clear which configuration will be offered with Windows.
The Eee is inevitably getting compared to the XO notebook created for schoolkids in developing countries by the One Laptop Per Child campaign.

At just £220, Asus Eee PC is a steal. The bundled GUI keeps things simple for novices, though we reckon most such users will prefer the familiarity of Windows, and we expect this machine to really take off when Asus offers a version with XP pre-installed.
But that's not to detract from the Linux Eee PC and its all-in-one information processing package. Linux buffs and geeks will love its sheer hackability. For two hundred quid, it's a perfect impulse buy for folk who love messing around with operating systems.This is a fun, cheap machine - which is just as well when the battery life means it'll never be a mobility masterpiece. What you might have missed is that ASUS, a company known for making laptops and laptop parts, recently launched its own answer to the XO laptop, the Eee PC, a 2-pound ultraportable that's well worth its $400 price, even though it has only 4GB of storage and a Linux operating system. The three E's in Eee PC stand for easy to learn, play, and work; excellent mobile experience; and excellent Internet experience. The ASUS Eee PC, however, is not solely for children—it's meant for anyone who hasn't been able to afford a first laptop. The version that I reviewed (the Eee PC 4G) sells for $400 (street), with other configurations available for as low as $300 (the Eee PC 2G Surf) by the end of November.

Rounding-up our general experiences from a performance perspective, is a relatively easy task with the Asus Eee PC.  The system basically delivered on nearly every expected metric, save perhaps the somewhat cramped feel of the keyboard area, which is part of the territory for a machine of this form-factor.  The operating system was lightning-quick to boot and application load times were also snappy.
In addition, we plugged in a few standard components like USB memory sticks and a USB optical mouse, all of which were instantly recognized by the OS, transparently installed and instantly available for use.  The Linux-based Eee PC even discovered our Windows network automatically and we were able to access files on our storage server with the system's File Manager and other applications as well.

The Asus Eee PC has had a quick development path and has gone from a questionable product development to having a near fanatical fan base that is following its every move on the way to the US.  When it was released in Taiwan, Asus tells me that one was sold every two seconds  until stock was drained.  Some people have told me that Asus in Taiwan is like Apple here is in the US; a company with a large following that is always innovating in the market. For those that haven't been following the Eee PC tabloids, or even our previous coverage of the units from Computex this past summer, the Asus Eee PC is basically the most compact and innovative standard notebook computer we have seen in many years. There are two models that Asus is planning on bringing to the US; I had a chance to play with the model on the right, the Eee PC 4G.  In the US market it will probably be known as the Asus Eee PC 4G but we'll see as the release of the notebook nears.

The Asus Eee PC 701 4G is the new affordable ultraportable notebook that's bound to be on many consumers' Christmas wish lists this year. Retailing for $399 or less, the Eee PC isn't exactly a workhorse, but it will do just about every basic task you'd need from a laptop. Our initial hands-on actually proved it does more than we expected, but the more detailed review below helps explain exactly why we’re so excited about a $400 notebook. The designers at Asus had no easy task creating an attractive ultraportable notebook while also making it cheap to produce. The case seams match up with reasonably tight tolerances, plastics feel thick (though the pearl-like white plastics look cheap) and the display hinges are molded into body with the battery. Lifting the display cover you find the amazingly small keyboard surface and even smaller touchpad resting below the recessed display and speakers. In short, the build quality is quite high despite the low cost. In the end, the Eee PC is the single most impressive notebook we've seen priced below $400.

For several months before its release, the Asus Eee PC was one of a handful of small, inexpensive PCs that had tech types buzzing with anticipation. While the other systems, the Intel Classmate and the One Laptop Per Child XO, are aimed at the educational needs of children around the globe and not generally available to consumers, the Eee holds no such highbrow pedigree--it's for sale directly from Asus to the laptop-buying public. The initial buzz on the Asus Eee had the 7-inch, Linux-based laptop coming in as low at $199. In the end, the price is a more realistic $399, which includes a low-end Intel Mobile CPU, 512MB of RAM, and a 4GB solid-state flash hard drive (versions with 2GB and 8GB hard drives will also be available). The obvious limitations of the tiny hard drive, low-power CPU, and lack of the Windows operating system may be enough to scare away many potential users, but despite the system's budget origins, we found it hard to dislike when viewed as a highly portable Web surfing and office productivity machine.

As I said earlier, we had it for only an hour or so, but our first impressions are very strong. Providing no build gremlins creep in, we suspect the RM Asus miniBook is destined for a huge user and fan base, and more importantly, this could be the way that Linux finally emerges into the UK education sector at user level in massive quantities. This past weekend a circular advertised a Vista-powered laptop equipped with a Celeron processor, 14.1-inch display, an 80GB hard drive, and a DVD drive for only $399. For the same price, the Asus Eee PC (see the photo gallery) offers the same amount of RAM and Celeron processor but a smaller seven-inch display, a measly 4GB of storage space, and no DVD drive. And yet there's no way we would give up this two-pound wonder for a "regular" notebook. The Eee PC may be designed to appeal to children and older customers, but it should also tempt anyone looking for a lightweight budget PC that weighs next to nothing and connects to the Internet easily. It's ten times simpler to use than any Windows machine, starts up twice as fast (no crapware!), and is only about a fifth of the cost of other systems in its weight class. It's a little rough around the edges, but the Eee PC is a remarkably versatile machine for the price.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 900: L’Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 est une carte graphique intégrée à la carte mère avec mémoire partagée sur chipsets Mobile Intel 915GM. C’est le prédécesseur de la Graphics Media Accelerator 950. On peut le comparer avec la Mobile Radeon 9000 (bus de mémoire 64 bit).

Ses cartes graphiques ne sont pas faites pour le jeu. Et même si ils tournent, ce sera avec des erreurs d'affichage et un framerate ignoble. Ce cartes graphique sont totalement incompatible avec les joueurs! les applications de bureau et d'Internet, ne sont pas un problème pour ces cartes graphiques.

Intel Celeron M: La caractéristique de ce processeur est la vitesse, qui est à peine plus lente qu'un Pentium M. Cependant elle peut changer la vitesse pas dynamiquement comme le Pentium M et a besoin donc de moins d’énergie.
