As of this writing the Asus Eee PC 1101HA can be found online for around $380, or about the same as the nearly identical (spec-wise) Acer Aspire One 751h. Between these two, the Eee has a battery life advantage, plus the option to sacrifice some of that juice with an overclock that will give it a small edge over the Atom N270 processor. However, looking at the broader netbook market, the HP Mini 311 offers slightly less battery life but a faster CPU and Nvidia Ion graphics, a feat usually reserved for 12+ inch models.

At Rs. 26,000, it may not be the most inexpensive netbook out there, but buy this for its impressive battery life and good overall performance.

The Eee PC 1101HA netbook is the largest model in Asus's Seashell line. With its 11.6'', 16:9 format display, it's designed for comfortable use. Asus' press release claims that this range of netbooks 'draws its inspiration from seashells' and stresses the aesthetics of this model's 'opalescent and glossy exterior.' Asus' largest Eee PC is getting user comfort right. The 1101HA is a handsome netbook, though unfortunately too much use has been made of glossy surfaces and its performance is below par. We did like the HD support and reasonable battery life, though.

There are now a handful of 11- and 12-inch netbooks for consumers who are looking for a bit more real estate for their eyes and hands. At $429, the ASUS Eee PC 1101HA is a compelling buy. However, those latter one netbooks offer a performance advantage that can’t be overlooked. But if all-day endurance is what you’re after, then the 1101HA is a solid choice.

The new ASUS Eee PC 1101HA might seem like little more than an oversized version of the Eee PC 1005HA, but you really shouldn't judge this netbook by its cover. The high resolution 11-inch display, larger keyboard, and easily overclocked processor make this little laptop a compelling option if you're looking for a cheap travel companion. On the negative side of things, the slower N520 Atom processor really "needs" to be overclocked in order to provide a reasonably snappy experience, and the weak Intel integrated graphics prevent this netbook from being much of a mobile entertainment center.

The Asus Eee PC 1101HA isn’t the fastest Intel Atom computer around. And in fact, it feels kind of sluggish at times, even with the CPU running at top speed. But by allowing users to overclock the processor to run at 1.73GHz, Asus has made the Eee PC 1101HA feel significantly faster than the Asus Eee PC T91, which features the same processor and a lower resolution display.

Does this Eee PC offer the best netbook balance yet? The Eee PC 1101 is the latest addition to Asus' Seashell range, which focuses on extreme portability and usability. It is the largest machine in the range, as it boasts an 11.6-inch screen, although it also features an extremely impressive 470-minute battery life. Overall, we like the Eee PC Seashell 1101 a lot. While it doesn't offer the extreme portability of its smaller brother, the 1008HA, it manages to provide a whole host of useful features, while being easier to use and looking fantastic.

Asus is perhaps best known for virtually creating the Netbook phenomenon with its line of inexpensive Eee PCs. The company has subsequently done a good job of refining and expanding on the Netbook experience, with systems such as the slim Eee PC 1005HA and the touch-screen Eee PC T91. Swelling the ranks of 11.6-inch Netbooks, the Asus Eee PC 1101HA impresses with its design and battery, but having to overclock a slower version of Intel's Atom CPU is a dodgy workaround.

ASUS’ 11.6-inch netbook features a bright, crisp display and excellent endurance, but cheaper netbooks offer better performance. There are now a handful of 11- and 12-inch netbooks for consumers who are looking for a bit more real estate for their eyes and hands. At $429, the ASUS Eee PC 1101HA is a compelling buy. While it’s $50 more expensive than the Acer Aspire One 751h, it’s $70 cheaper than the Lenovo IdeaPad S12 and the Samsung NC20. However, those latter two netbooks offer a performance advantage that can’t be overlooked. But if all-day endurance is what you’re after, then the 1101HA is a solid choice.

It's no secret that Intel and Microsoft have a firm grip on what a netbook may or may not use in terms of features and parts; hence the many look-alikes in this pervasive category. But there are a handful of them that are considered exceptions to the rules handed down by Wintel. While most of its features keep it in line with any other netbook, the ASUS EeePC 1101HA has an 11.6-inch widescreen and 1,366-by-768 resolution that set it apart.

At around £379 Inc VAT, the Eee PC 1101HA is well-priced and its large, high-resolution screen just about compensates for the underpowered Atom Z520 processor. It’s a bit too big to call a netbook and too puny to be considered a laptop (and it remains to be seen how the chip copes with Windows 7), but if you’re looking for a long-lasting and inexpensive portable for nothing more than standard productivity and internet tasks, it’s certainly a tempting proposition. The ASUS Eee PC 1101HA is a bit too big to be a netbook, but it's still a good choice if you need a lightweight laptop that will only see limited use.

The Asus Eee PC 1101HA is the second in the firm's range of 'Seashell' netbooks - the smaller 1008HA was launched earlier this year. Both are an attempt to inject a bit of style into a computer category where many models look like they were cobbled together from spare parts. The Eee PC 1101HA is one of the best-looking netbooks available, and its high-resolution screen sets it apart from the competition. A good choice for anyone who needs a stylish, but low-cost, ultraportable, and can live with the limited power of the Intel Atom processor.

Anyone who's been yearning for a high resolution netbook will find the Eee PC 1101HA a tempting proposition. However, it is let down by its sub-par processor and its relatively high price. There's still plenty to enjoy here, but we'd wait a little longer to see what else comes along.

There’s no doubting the Seashell 1101HA is a good product, with a great screen, comfortable keyboard and reasonable specification. Whether the larger keyboard is worth the compromise in portability depends purely on your needs, however. It’s also less attractive than the original Eee PC 1008HA, and we’d be tempted by the extra mobility on offer.

There was once a time when netbooks were small, cheap alternatives to standard laptops. Today, they needn't exhibit any of those traits to bear that moniker. The Eee PC 1101HA, Asus' first 11-inch hyper-portable, challenges traditional netbook perceptions with a large screen and an equally sizeable keyboard, though it is inexpensive. It's available to buy now for around £360. The 1101HA could have been a great machine. Its large, high-res screen, excellent keyboard and superb battery life would, ordinarily, be enough to secure our affections, but its rubbish performance means you're better off with alternatives such as the Eee PC 1008HA.

The launch of the first pioneering netbook from Asus may seem eons ago, but the Taiwanese manufacturer has kept busy since then. The most recent addition to the huge Eee PC roster has been the Seashell series, which ditches the clunky, angular designs of old for curvier, slimmer profiles. This latest model, the 1101HA, is the biggest yet, boasting an 11.6in screen. The biggest Seashell yet is gloriously designed, but not quite so impressive under the hood.

Commentaire
