In general, initially I planned the text in the spirit of “two weeks with a new iPhone” and partially wrote my impressions. Time passed, and a couple of weeks turned into a month, then two. Then the summer flew by, in the fall Apple showed new iPhones and I’m thinking of parting with the 12 Pro Max, sending it to the closet for storage. Initially, I was very pleased with the phone. For me, upgrading from a “regular” iPhone to a “max” turned out to be an epochal event – something similar I experienced many, many years ago when Apple released the iPhone 6 Plus and I enjoyed the huge display of the old iPhone 5s. But the joy was replaced by disappointment – and all because of the indicators of autonomy. I have a large iPhone 12 Pro Max that lasts as long as an iPhone 12 or iPhone 13 Pro. Hence the conclusion follows: why get used to inconvenient sizes, if devices of a more comfortable format produce the same results?

If you’re looking for the best iPhone on the market, the iPhone 12 Pro Max is it: it’s powerful, has the longest battery life on an iPhone we’ve tested in 2020 and the camera is top-notch. You'll need to be ready to carry the extra heft, as this is also the biggest iPhone of all time, and the cost isn't to be sniffed at, but we're adding an extra half star for all those iPhone fans that just want the best Apple can bring – the iPhone 12 Pro Max manages to do that rather well.

The iPhone 12 Pro Max is much more than just a big-screen version of the iPhone 12 Pro. With its 6.7-inch display, this is the biggest display ever on an iPhone. But the iPhone 12 Pro Max (from $1,099) lives up to its name in other ways, with an even more advanced camera than the regular iPhone 12 Pro and considerably longer battery life.

The Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max is among the top 4 in our Battery database so far, with good scores in Autonomy, average in Charging, and an outstanding score for discharge in our Efficiency attribute. Where it could have done better was in charge up Efficiency, where its score was among the lowest among all devices tested so far (only 66% charging efficiency).

After using this phone for six months, it’s easy to see why the phone is so successful for Apple. It covers all the basics and then some. It offers high-quality hardware that’s tough and built well, it has some of the best performance of any device, packs battery life that competes with most flagships, and snaps a really good photo. Sure, there are some detractors, such as the gawky design, slow screen, and high price tag, but other phones suffer from these same issues. From my perspective, the iPhone 12 Pro Max has completely lived up to its promise. The issues I’ve noted above were there when it first went on sale. Six months hasn’t changed the equation at all. If you’re in the market for an iPhone and want the biggest screen, the highest-quality camera, and the best battery life you can get, the iPhone 12 Pro Max is the only option for you.

It is massive in terms of both size and price, but there is no doubting that the iPhone 12 Pro Max is the most powerful iPhone out there. It does come with a massive price tag, but it is perhaps the most powerful phone out there. With great power comes great (in numerical terms) pricing!

The iPhone 12 Pro Max lives up to its name in a few key ways. You get a much bigger display than the regular iPhone 12 Pro and much longer battery life. Personally, I didn’t find that the Max’s larger camera sensor produced much better looking images than what you get from other iPhone 12 models, but it is nice that you get a more powerful zoom.

The iPhone 12 Pro Max is the best phone that Apple has ever made, with the biggest screen, the best speakers, the best camera and the biggest battery. But many of its upgrades over the iPhone 12 are minimal, and the fact that the standard iPhone now has an OLED display is another reason not to spend the extra.

Your bank balance should answer that question. You could be ok paying ₹1,30,000 for a smartphone for two reasons. One, you know exactly what it can do and you want THAT. And two, you know it does a good job, obviously, and you must have it. If you really want to max it out and can afford it - what are you waiting for? This is literally the best smartphone in the market right now.

The iPhone 12 Pro Max ($1,099 at Amazon) follows in the footsteps of the 7 Plus and gets camera upgrades that none of the other iPhone 12 models have. At its core the iPhone 12 Pro Max, like all the phones in the iPhone 12 family (the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Mini), has a bunch of things going for it like a new flat-sided design reminiscent of the iPhone 5 and iPad Pro. It has support for 5G, an OLED screen with support for HDR, a ceramic shield covering, an A14 Bionic processor, support for MagSafe wireless charging and it can be submerged to a depth of 6 meters (just under 20 feet) for up to 30 minutes. If you want a deeper assessment of any of these features, take a look at my iPhone 12 and 12 Pro review.

Due to low-end resonances and inverted channels in playback, along with easy-to-occlude microphones and emphasized brightness in recordings, the iPhone 12 Pro Max can’t entirely keep up with the best audio performers, namely the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro and the Asus ROG Phone 3. That all said, Apple’s 2020 top-of-the-range device manages to achieve one of the highest scores of all phones we have tested to date. Despite similar performances in several sub-categories, the iPhone 12 Pro Max is clearly a step up from the iPhone 12, thanks to deeper low-end extension in playback, slightly better dynamics in both playback and recording, and the best maximum reachable level in recording we’ve measured up to now. Additionally, its speakers are almost impossible to occlude, which makes it an excellent choice for smartphone gaming.

Apple charges a premium for its Pro products. Add Max to it and you are staring at a whole lot of cash. The iPhone 12 Pro Max starts at Rs 1,29,900 and goes up to Rs 1,59,900. Look at it from any perspective and you will know that this is meant for a certain target audience, an audience that is not willing to make any compromises in their smartphone. For that audience, this is the best iPhone money can buy. The size might be an issue for some but bigger at times means better and that’s what the iPhone 12 Pro Max is. It is big in size and has a big display — perfect for those who watch content on devices but makes it difficult to lug around in jeans pockets. The iPhone 12 Pro Max has the most versatile camera setup you will come across on a phone in 2020. As we said earlier, it’s tough to click a bad picture with it and what shines is the consistency it delivers.

Because of its size and price, the Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max may not be for everyone, but it continues in the brand’s tradition of producing quality devices that maintain a loyal following. The iPhone 12 Pro Max’s display does nothing to detract from that tradition. It excels at video playback, with great brightness for HDR10 content. And in general, the device renders colors accurately in most tested conditions, though with the caveat that there is a strong yellow cast to both video and still imagery— a consistent characteristic of the Apple devices our display team has tested to this point. The device could also be brighter, especially in low-light and at night, and flicker is also an issue in low-light conditions.

Wondering how different the iPhone 12 mini is compared to the iPhone 12 Pro Max? I've used both of them for a good amount of time, so here is my personal thoughts on switching! The iPhone 12 mini packs an impressive punch for the size, but it definitely comes with its own drawbacks. But I have to admit I’m somewhat disheartened. I had big hopes for the larger sensor in the iPhone 12 Pro Max and I’m sad to see its on-paper size advantage hasn’t manifested itself in a meaningful way. But if we approach it objectively, there’s little to fault this phone. The build quality is superb, the expansive display is brilliant, it takes wonderful photos and videos, its performance is beyond any phone we’ve seen and yet its battery easily lasts all day.

The iPhone 12 Pro Max’s front camera holds its own, improving on results from last year’s iPhone 11 Pro Max and delivering the same results as the smaller 12 Pro model. It’s not quite as adept as the best we’ve tested and its fixed-focus lens and small sensor does look a bit under spec’d on paper. That said, Apple has clearly done a lot to get the very best from the hardware and the device is capable of excellent front camera stills and video. So while not a groundbreaking device, the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s selfie shooter is another reliable photography asset for Apple enthusiasts after the biggest and best new iPhone.

Yes, the iPhone 12 Pro Max is worth buying. It's the best iPhone Apple has ever made in every way. It has a massive, gorgeous screen, a mind-blowing camera system, great battery life, and it looks beautiful. It's expensive, which may prevent some buyers from wanting to take one home, but as long as you can budget for the $1,099 starting price, I have no problem recommending this phone.

There are only two reasons not to seriously consider the iPhone 12 Pro Max: either because you prefer Android, or because you can't justify spending a four-figure sum on a smartphone (which is a perfectly reasonable stance). However, if you've got the cash and you want to spend it on the gadget you use more than any other, this is just about the best smartphone out there in 2020.

The iPhone 12 Pro Max is powered by the A14 Bionic chip. And it's peppy and fast. The A14 chip is as much about giving you great performance now as it is about giving you great performance through years of iOS updates. In benchmark tests for performance the 12 Pro Max was on par with (not surprisingly) the iPhone 12, 12 Mini and 12 Pro. All of the new iPhones hold the distinction of having the most powerful processors in the phones we've tested.

At the end of my iPhone 12 Pro review, I said that you probably should look at the 12 Pro Max instead if you don't have any budget constraints, and after reviewing it, I feel that it is indeed the better option. Yes, it's about Rs. 10,000 more than the iPhone 12 Pro no matter which storage variant you pick, but you get a much bigger display, longer battery life, and some improvements to the rear cameras. This model is certainly not for everyone, mainly due to its massive size, but if you can get used to it, it definitely offers the best iPhone experience you can get this year.

Yes, the iPhone 12 Pro Max is a great buy for those with professional workflows that involve a phone. These could be anything from the need for a stellar display to a top-end processing or professional-grade video recording. However, if you are using an iPhone that came out in the last two years, it is too early to upgrade to this one. For anyone using an older iPhone, it is time to move. This is an easy recommendation to make: You probably should not. Instead you should buy the iPhone 12. I said in my earlier review that the iPhone 12 was the best iPhone for most people this year. And nothing changes. Unless you desire the best. If you don't mind splurging Rs 1,29,900 on a phone and want absolute best from Apple, the iPhone 12 Pro Max is the phone for you. It is better than the other iPhones this year - except in weight and size - in subtle ways, such as a larger and brighter screen, or some 20 per cent better battery life, or a camera that is a wee bit more consistent at getting better details and dynamic range in photos, but it is not what I will call a value for money. Most people will be more than satisfied with the iPhone 12. Get the iPhone 12 Pro Max only if you desire absolute best irrespective of the price.

It has a trio of rear 12MP cameras, but it’s the only one in the 12 family to have a significantly larger main sensor and 2.5x optical telephoto zoom. The straight-sided stainless steel frame and matte back glass are matched with a ceramic glass OLED display. The iPhone has 5G, and is available unlocked and on all major carriers. Apple’s latest flagship makes useful advances over its predecessor in almost every way. Image quality is very good, autofocus is lightning fast and accurate, detail is high, and colors are generally pleasant. Apple remains a leader in preview performance, so what you see when composing a shot looks a lot like the final result. Dynamic range could be better, but mobile photographers should be pleased overall. This iPhone’s weakest link is its lack of long zoom capability, something we’re seeing more of in flagships from the competition. If reach is paramount to you, then there are other phones that excel in this metric (but none that run iOS). Video performance overall is excellent, just short of the best we’ve seen. Wide dynamic range, good color, low noise, and effective stabilization make this iPhone a good choice for users who prioritize video capabilities. For mobile photographers committed to the iOS ecosystem and ready to part with the hefty purchase price, the iPhone 12 Pro Max shouldn’t disappoint.

The iPhone 12 Pro Max has taught me two things. The first is that I love big screens and excellent cameras, and I’m willing to put up with a significantly larger phone and maybe even a little hand discomfort in order to get them. The second is that the iPhone 12 Pro really is a very well-rounded device.

The iPhone 12 Pro Max is the most comprehensive and expensive iPhone in the 2020 range. That's because there's a lot here: the screen is massive, the cameras - being the main difference over the 12 Pro - are exceptional, and the overall performance is impressive.

Apple's iPhone 12 Pro Max has a lot in common with its smaller sibling. Think: a new design, expansive 5G network support and amazing performance, to name just a few. Because they're so similar, we think the smaller iPhone 12 and 12 Pro are better options for most people, but if you can handle an enormous screen, the Pro Max's better battery life and more flexible cameras make it Apple's most capable new model, and an all-around fantastic smartphone.

There’s just no getting around it: the iPhone 12 Pro Max is a very big phone. The measurements don’t tell the whole story — by the numbers, it’s just a little bit bigger than the 11 Pro Max, but the new design with flat sides makes it feel much larger than it is, and makes it slightly harder to hold than a phone with curved sides. It’s also a bit heavier than other big phones like the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and iPhone 11 Pro Max, which makes it feel even bigger.

If you're a big-phone person, or you care about camera performance more than anything, the Pro Max is the one you should be looking at.

Commentaire
Apple A14 Bionic GPU:
