N'y allons pas par quatre chemins : l'iPad mini 7 (2024) est la meilleure des petites tablettes, mais elle est également bien trop chère. Le peu d'évolution par rapport à la génération précédente ne justifie pas son prix de 609 €, et les 200 € supplémentaires demandés par rapport à l'iPad 10 n'ont pas vraiment de sens. Si Apple avait fait monter en gamme son iPad mini 7 avec Face ID, un écran OLED et/ou du 120 Hz, notre avis aurait certainement été différent. L'iPad mini 7 n'en reste pas moins une expérience à part entière, surement la dernière « vraie tablette » d'Apple, c'est-à-dire une tablette qui ne se prend pas pour un ordinateur. Nous avons aimé l'emmener partout avec nous pendant cette semaine de test pour prendre des notes, lire, jouer et regarder des vidéos.

Le format de 8 pouces est idéal pour lire des magazines, dessiner ou naviguer sur le Web un peu partout, sans s'encombrer avec un produit lourd à porter. On apprécie aussi la puissance de l'A17 Pro, capable d'assurer toutes les tâches et de faire tourner des jeux sans montrer le moindre signe de faiblesse. D'un autre côté, on peste devant une évolution paresseuse d'un produit sorti il y a déjà plus de trois ans. Le nouvel iPad mini conserve un écran LED certes parfaitement calibré, mais bloqué à 60 Hz. Really, the main reason why you might want to update is because of Apple Intelligence. But since it isn’t available for me to test, it’s impossible for me to say right now if it’s worth upgrading for it. Remember I said this new iPad mini was tricky to review? This is why. My main issue with the iPad mini is that its display is starting to look dated and could really use an upgrade.

It's not an iPad that has been mini-fied to be cheaper — it's a premium iPad that has been made smaller for those that desire such a tiny tablet. In other words, if you are one of the people who would find use for it, you probably have your mind set on it. In fact, you probably own an iPad mini 6th gen. Is this one better and worth going for? Well, it will definitely work great with Final Cut and Logic for iPad if that's what you want to do on the small screen. We imagine that most people that use an iPad mini for some kind of productive work are the ones that sketch and write notes with the Apple Pencil on the go.

Basically, the new iPad mini is a chip upgrade to support Apple Intelligence and not much more than that. If you have the 6th-generation iPad mini that works well, and you’re wondering about upgrading, the question to ask yourself is how much you want to use Apple Intelligence. Try it on another device if you can and gauge how much you use it, then you can figure out if you need a new iPad mini. If you don’t care about Apple Intelligence (even after trying it), chances are you won’t care about the new iPad mini, either, unless your 6th-generation iPad mini needs repairs and you’ve been putting them off.

Basically, the new iPad mini is a chip upgrade to support Apple Intelligence and not much more than that. If you have the 6th-generation iPad mini that works well, and you’re wondering about upgrading, the question to ask yourself is how much you want to use Apple Intelligence. Try it on another device if you can and gauge how much you use it, then you can figure out if you need a new iPad mini. If you don’t care about Apple Intelligence (even after trying it), chances are you won’t care about the new iPad mini, either, unless your 6th-generation iPad mini needs repairs and you’ve been putting them off.

The new Mini ostensibly exists for a user who wants the absolute best pen experience, a million new AI-enabled productivity tools, and the absolute smallest screen that gives them both, no matter the tradeoffs. That’s a pretty tight Venn diagram, if you ask me. There are so many other interesting things Apple could do with the Mini. It could give it iPhone Pro Max-level imaging and a Camera Control button and make this the device it hopes Hollywood will use to make movies.

I can’t stop using the iPad Mini 2024 — even though it’s a pretty boring update

Taken on its own, the new iPad Mini is just about the perfect small tablet. It’s a delight to have in your hands, fast enough for most people’s needs and can last through a full day of reading, streaming and gaming on the go. Its improved stylus support makes it a great portable drawing slate, and even if you don’t care about playing the latest triple-A games or tapping into Apple Intelligence, you’ll at least be future- proofed when it comes to performance. If you’re buying your first iPad Mini or upgrading from a fifth-generation model or older, I feel confident saying you’ll love this tablet.

Apple A17 Pro GPU:
Ces cartes devraient être capables de faire tourner tout les jeux d'aujourd'hui, mais la plupart d'entre eux uniquement en détails moyens ou faibles et avec des résolution basses. Les plus vieux jeux ou les jeux moins gourmands restent jouables avec de beaux graphismes.

A17 Pro: Système sur puce (SoC) de Apple, intégré à l'iPhone 15 Pro (Max). Il est basé sur sept noyaux ARM de 64 bits (2 noyaux de performance, 4 noyaux d'étincelles). Il a été conçu selon le procédé moderne 3nm N3B de TSMC.
