The iPad Air is a fantastic tablet. The screen and power make it feel like an iPad Pro, but for a seriously good price. The perfect do-anything device for most people.

The MacBook Air's decent battery life, sharp screen, strong sound and elegant gold colorway make it a solid entry-level laptop for Apple fans. If only its processor had a little more kick to it, it would be a lot easier to recommend the Air.

The latest Air is much like the iPad Pro in all but name. So if you can live without the FaceID, uniform bezels and Type-C port offered by the current Pro, then this 10.5-inch iPad is a compelling offering. Especially considering its sub-£500 price point.

The iPad Air 2019 isn’t the most innovative Apple-slate on the market, but by getting all the basics right it easily earns a place as one of the year’s best tablets and is an ideal option for most buyers.

The iPad Air is a fantastic device for content consumption, playing games and running a host of different apps from the App Store. It has swift performance and the display is a treat. The battery life and touch response is good too. The sound output from the tablet is good. However, it doesn’t have stereo separation when watching movies and it does not support the second-gen Apple Pencil.

And there's the new iPad Mini, which is basically this device, but with an 8-inch screen instead. That will be less useful for productivity just in terms of the physical screen size (and there's no smart keyboard equivalent), but it's a hell of a mix of speed and portability. This remains our favourite, though, because it feels like it's a a size that can do anything, without weighing you down, and that's future-proof.

The new iPad Air (2019) has serious horsepower hidden behind its laminated screen and uses Apple’s excellent Smart Keyboard for proper 2-in-1 for productivity. Its traditional design and first-gen Apple Pencil compatibility make it look dated, but it doubles the performance of the entry-level iPad 9.7. The ‘Air’ revival is a potential Back to School winner this year.

All of this is to say that if you are shopping for a new tablet now, you will be happy to know that Apple has an impressive line-up of iPads across a wide price range, and all of them perform exceedingly well and are easily the best tablets in their respective classes.

The iPad Air is a powerful and easy-to-use tablet with a large and well-specced screen, long battery life and attractive design, all at a sensible price. There are some compromises here, but as an all-round package this is vastly appealing.

Yes. But I will attach a few caveats. Get it only if you want the iPad Air as a premium tablet on which you can occasionally do basic work. As long as you know the iPad Air’s shortcomings, you will feel your half-a-lakh is well spent. The display is amazing and the slick performance boggles my mind -- a Windows laptop at this price may not deliver such smooth and dependable performance. Plus, you don’t need to always carry a charger.

While it costs more than the entry-level model, iPad Air casts a huge shadow across the entry-level iPad. Its superior display, powerful processor and near iPad Pro performance means I'd now find it hard to recommend the entry-level iPad to many people.

Given the feature set of the Air, that price makes it the most attractive iPad for most people. The Pro is significantly more expensive and the extra features are only really relevant for a small number of people. But the £160 extra over the standard iPad gets you a better and larger screen, a significant boost in power and therefore longevity, smart keyboard compatibility, and an extra 32GB of storage. If you can afford it, it's a total no-brainer.

The iPad Air is a collection of compromises, and in almost every area there's another tablet out there that's better: the iPad 9.7in is cheaper, the iPad mini more portable, the iPad Pro 11in more future-proofed for very demanding apps. But as an all-round package this is vastly appealing and quite possibly the best (or at least best-value) Apple has to offer.

The new iPad Air is a tablet that works best with a keyboard case as a pseduo-laptop for anyone who wants a basic PC with Apple's software elegance.

If Apple were still selling the aging iPad Air 2 brand new for a significantly discounted price, we’d probably recommend that over this newer one. However, that’s not the case. In reality, the new iPad Air (2019) takes up that vacant spot long held by the iPad Air 2 at the moderate $500 price range. After years of Apple trying to sell consumers on upgrading to its more expensive iPad Pro tablets, the new iPad Air’s arrival is a sign of relief.

Sandwiched neatly between the budget iPad and the pricey iPad Pro is the iPad Air, a strange set of tradeoffs and compromises that delivers most of what everyone wants from an iPad for hundreds less than an iPad Pro.

The $499 iPad Air is a notable upgrade in almost every respect over the $329 iPad. It has a bigger, better screen, more storage and support for Apple’s Smart Keyboard case. Unless you’re on a tight budget, it’s worth the extra cash and is probably the best all-around iPad you can buy right now.

The iPad Air is priced starting at $499 for the Wi-Fi only model and just 64GB of storage, or you can get one with 256GB of storage for $649. The iPad Air with both Wi-Fi and cellular support will cost $629 for the 64GB model and $779 for the 256GB version. Again, it should be available in stores sometime next week.

Apple A12 Bionic GPU:
