We’re so happy that Apple has revived the MacBook Air. We were convinced that the company intended to remove it from the line up in favour of the MacBook. In fact, by updating the MacBook Air, Apple has thrown the regular MacBook into an existential crisis: with the Air now becoming the perfect laptop for anyone who values portability, the MacBook really doesn't have a lot to offer.

Better yet, don’t even bother with the Air. Rs 1,35,000 is way too much money to spend on a laptop as underpowered and underwhelming as this one. Either wait for the 2019 MacBook and 13-inch Non-Touch Bar Pros or simply pick up the more capable Microsoft Surface Laptop 2 or Dell XPS 13.

The MacBook Air is definitely one of the most premium laptops you can buy right now. With the prices starting from 1,14,990*, it carries a lot of premium features found on its elder MacBook pro siblings such as a Retina display, a large trackpad and even a fingerprint sensor. There are a few downsides though. The new Air lacks a USB port which many of us still use. If you ever wish to connect a mice or even a pen drive, you have to buy a USB type-C multi-port connector separately as Apple does not bundle it with the device.

The new MacBook Air 2018 is a superb laptop, but it is also a laptop for MacBook Air fans. It is a better laptop than the vanilla MacBook for sure. But it's very close to the MacBook Pro, which starts at Rs 1,19,900 and offers significantly more brightness and slightly more contrast in its display, a faster charger and a faster processor compared to the MacBook Air 2018. If you are going to spend over Rs 1.1 Lakh on a laptop, you should spend it on the MacBook Pro. But in case if you can get the new Air with some discounts -- and let's hope there will be discounts -- don't hesitate to pick it up. It's a delightful laptop, just like the previous Air, if only little pricier this time.

The Apple MacBook Air 2018 refresh improves on what was already considered the best ultrabook, but at the same time, also brings in a significant price bump. The earlier MacBook Air was one of the most affordable and powerful ultrabooks one could buy and while the 2018 MacBook Air continues to be powerful, it is no longer the best value for money device. It is still a great device for work which is guaranteed to last you a few years. It is perfect for watching movies as well, but if you're looking for a photo or video editing machine, this is definitely not it. For everything else, its great.

A remodel that's been long overdue, the new Air brings a shrunken footprint, higher-res display, less bezel, Touch ID login, fewer ports, a divisive keyboard and a higher price tag than its predecessor. Some great features for sure, but a few irks hold (mainly the keyboard) hold it back from being the perfect laptop.

Its improved hardware, slimmed design, impressive security and long-lasting battery make it a great computer. While it's certainly not cheap, it's a great option for business owners looking for a powerful, slim laptop – and the latest in a long line of impressive and reliable Apple products.

Nevertheless, if you must have a notebook that runs macOS - and I completely understand as a fellow macOS user - then the MacBook Air is the ideal pick for most users. Build quality remains class-leading, performance is good despite the low-power processor, and battery life is exemplary. With the new MacBook Air, Apple has given most users all the features that they requested for, namely a Retina Display, Touch ID, and two USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports. It is also more compact and lighter. In short, it is everything that most people want from a MacBook Air. I only wish they hadn’t taken so long.

There are two ways to look at the new MacBook Air. Apple pitches it as a ground-up redesign of its most beloved laptop, and by that measure it’s a little disappointing. It’s slightly more compact and a little bit lighter, and it has Touch ID, Thunderbolt 3, a better trackpad, and better speakers. And of course, it has a Retina display. In all those ways, it is better than the old MacBook Air.

It may be long overdue, but the 2018 edition of the MacBook Air pulls off a good balancing act. Rather than a ground-up revamp, this new model concentrates on refining the elegant, lightweight design that made the MacBook Air so popular in the first place, while also bringing it up to date with features such as the Retina Display and T2 security chip. And while the MacBook Air certainly isn't cheap it's not far out of step with the pricing of rival Windows ultraportables. It's made out of 100 percent recycled aluminium too, so you can feel good about the environment when you show it off in your local coffee shop.

The new Air is precisely the upgrade many users have been holding out for, with a slimmed-down body, sharper Retina display, long battery life and a useful Touch ID fingerprint sensor. Though it’s more than fast enough for common use cases, some might prefer to spend $100 on the entry-level MacBook Pro to get more processing power.

If you’re familiar with the 12-inch MacBook, using the new MacBook Air makes it immediately obvious that this is a slightly updated and scaled-up version of that model, with the “Air” name attached. If you’ve been waiting for years for Apple to finally re-imagine the MacBook Air in a way that will once again revolutionize the thin-and-light laptop market, you’re going to be disappointed to find that it has only been brought up to the standards of other modern Mac laptops, with all the good and bad that goes with that.

Still, Apple has placed the MacBook Air back where it spent the first part of this decade: firmly at the center of the Apple laptop universe. It’s not the cheapest or fastest or lightest laptop, but it’s the lowest-priced Retina Mac and it’s powerful and flexible enough to serve the needs of the broad audience for consumer Macs. The new geographic center of the Mac is once again where it’s been for most of this decade: It’s the MacBook Air.

The 2018 MacBook Air is a huge improvement, but it seems there’s room for more. If you really need an Air and that’s what you’re used to using, you’ll probably be very happy with the $1,199 purchase. But if you expected a tiny powerhouse, you may wind up a little disappointed.

The general design and usefulness, and the leap from fifth-gen Intel processors to eighth-gen ones, actually makes this effectively greater than $200 higher than the previous MacBook Air. But it surely additionally strikes to being that rather more of a stretch for a lot of would-be homeowners. Happily, that old-school Air remains to be obtainable, at the least for now, simply because the previous 13-inch MacBook Professional was for greater than a 12 months after the latest design debuted in 2016. For those who’re agency in your want for USB-A or HDMI ports, or an island-style keyboard, decide one up now, as a result of nobody is aware of how lengthy it’ll final. However word that based mostly on the previous a number of years of issues we have had in regards to the low-res display, thick bezel and outdated CPU, it is onerous to suggest that traditional mannequin proper now. We hope to check and totally overview the brand new MacBook Air quickly, so keep tuned for our benchmark outcomes and full overview.

On the whole then, the new MacBook Air should be a significant upgrade from the previous model in almost every way, from processing power to display quality. However the increased focus on quality is also matched by an increased price tag, and in general is in-line with Apple’s efforts to focus more on high-end, high-margin products in the Mac space. As a result the new Air starts at $1199, $200 more than the previous model. Notably this is $100 cheaper than the base 12-inch MacBook, meaning this is still the cheapest (modern) MacBook Apple offers. Though it does seem to put a nail in the coffin of the idea of a sub-$1000 MacBook, especially as Apple seems more interested in moving those users on to the new iPad Pros.

Intel UHD Graphics 617:
