Great performance, comfortable keyboard, beautiful display, but how well does this Predator make its growl heard? Extremely well, in fact, as the sound on offer is fantastic, with strong and solid bass emerging from the notebook’s frame, thanks in no small part to the integrated 4.2 sound, consisting of two subwoofers. Watching Overwatch’s frenetic combat, and terrific animated short, was a pleasure, and whether watching movies or playing games, you can feel slight, but not overly distracting, vibrations through the keyboard.

70% One gimmicky fan can't make up for aging hardware

There’s something so uniquely PC about that damn ejectable fan though. It’s nothing but a gimmick, but it’s a gimmick that captures the imagination—the modern-day equivalent of the old TURBO buttons you used to see on PCs. It feels good to pop out the superfluous optical drive and wing it into the corner of the room like a Frisbee, then slam an extra bit of cooling into the case. Who even cares that it barely does anything?

The Predator 17 has oodles of processing power, with more than enough to handle any triple-A release, but it’s resoundingly beaten by the likes of the Metabox Prime. However, it’s also a slightly better-built machine with a nicer display, which doesn’t sound like Bronwyn Bishop is landing in your back yard.

It costs close to AED 9550, which I would say is quite expensive for a gaming laptop. However, if you are looking for a replacement for you desktop, this is a good option. Sure, there are cheaper alternatives, but the Predator’s impressive GPU and other configurations makes its prey on games today (no pun intended) and hopefully those yet to come.

We wouldn't dwell on the benchmarks the Predator 17 failed to win. It was thoroughly competitive in every test, with performance that places it firmly in the overachiever class of top-end gaming laptops—as, indeed, it ought to be considering its $2,599 price. We have a suspicion that, if Acer had sent the $2,099 configuration with slightly less RAM and SSD storage, we'd be raving about an Editors' Choice winner instead of a mere four-star rave review recipient.

The new Predator 17 was the most promising new laptop to debut at IFA 2015, and it lives up to that promise. While it’s not the most exciting notebook at first glance, its conventional design, combined with excellent hardware, makes for an incredible all-around system. It robs the Asus G751 of its championship title and, like that rig, has appeal that extends beyond gaming.

The Predator has what it takes to challenge the high-end gaming notebooks

Acer has been long been associated with lower-end and mid-range devices, but in the last couple of years it proved that the high-end segment isn’t something new to the company and their latest top-shelf laptop, Predator G9-791, is the living proof. It has it all – stylish design, aggressive looks suitable for gamers, sturdy and rigid construction and beastly hardware. Speaking of which, it’s on par with some of the offerings from ASUS (ROG G751 in particular) Dell (Alienware). We are yet to see the asking price of the notebook, but we will make a wild guess that it will be priced little above ASUS ROG G751 and lower than the Alienware counterpart. Mainly because the storage upgrades on the Predator are somehow more expensive or premium, as we may say. While the G751 offers one M.2 SSD slot paired with two 2.5-inch SSD/HDD slots, the Predator has only one 2.5-inch slot and two M.2 SSD slots – one supports 2280 and the other supports 22110 standard.

Ces cartes devraient être capables de faire tourner tout les jeux d'aujourd'hui, mais la plupart d'entre eux uniquement en détails moyens ou faibles et avec des résolution basses. Les plus vieux jeux ou les jeux moins gourmands restent jouables avec de beaux graphismes.
